X270 queries before ordering

Q: X270 queries before ordering

I am about to replace my X230T by a X270, and have a few questions about X270 specs and about running linux on it. I am configuring the X270 with a FHD touch display, 16GB RAM, and a 500GB 2.5-inch SATA HDD (not SSD) that I will upgrade. 1. The HDMI external video out specs mention 4k @ 24Hz. No other resolutions execept 4k nor any other frame rate is specified. If I run external video through HDMI at FHD resolution (1920x1080), I would expect a higher frame refresh rate, at least 75Hz. Is that correct? 2. I currently set battery start/stop charge thresholds on my X230T, to protect long term battery health (I use the acpi_call kernel module for this). Can battery charging start/stop thresholds be set on the X270? 3. If I run my desktop display on the FHD IPS screen at 1600x900 (instead of 1920x1080 FHD), will it cause any blur issues? 4. I plan to replace the 500GB HDD by a 2TB SATA HDD, and also put a M.2 2242 SSD (32GB) that I own into the WWAN slot. Will I be able to boot from either drive? 5. I run Linux Mint 17.2 (based on Ubuntu 14.04) on my X230T (rock solid, running continuously for more than 2 years). What is a linux distro that is good for X270 (good means stable and supports everything)? Thanks in advance.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I have a query that pulls results from two other queries. And those pull from a combination of tables and other queries.

My issue is that when any of the underlying queries produces no result, instead of leaving those fields empty, it prevents any data from being fetched by the queries higher up the ladder.

For example, let's say the primary query displays the the first name of two contacts: Project Leader 1 (Jerry Collwell) and Project Leader 2 (Jane Law). If both project leaders exist, it'll return in one column "Jerry" and in the next column "Jane." However, if the project only has one project leader, and it's Jerry, then the query results in "" and "" instead of just displaying "Jerry" and "".

How do I prevent the whole query from breaking when there's missing optional data?

A:Solved: Access 2007 - Queries depending on other queries

How do you achieve the Jerry and Jane, if it is using an expression it sounds like you need to include an IIf() in it to test for Null conditions.

I have IE8, Win7 X64. When I add to my favorites, rename it, click sort by name, it closes quite rudely I might add.
Is there a way to keep it open after sorting?

A:IE8 Fav ordering

Probably not as it just like selecting one of them to load. if you want to sort your favorites, you can do it under users\username and then sort it as you wish. I belive that the favorites is just a data base and changing it's sort order is not the same as sorting a directory listing under windows explorer.

I'm not exactly sure if this is the right spot to put this, but here goes.

I've designed a website for my sister-in-law's store. She'd like to have an option for online ordering but I've NO idea how to do this.

Anyone tell me how to go about this? A good program to use? It's a rather small store so funds are tight.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

A:Online Ordering

online ordering can be quite a task if u wish to do this all within your site, you will need a payment gateway (so u can process credit cards), and then server side code to deal with the online browsing/basket usage, checkout, users details, user logon etc.

What might be better would be to use a 3rd parties payment service, such as paypal. They can provide code to add to your site so u can add items to a basket and paypal will deal with the online ordering side of things. take a look at www.paypal.com and click on merchant services.

I think that graphic card is a bit too strong. That's a VR ready card. You can try to save money here and go with a cheaper graphics card. Everything else looks good. Nice thinking on getting the 256gb boot drive, time is money they say.

From those of you who order from newegg and tigerdirect, how often do you see price changes on their sites for the same object? For instance I am looking to buy a certain monitor but I want to buy it for as cheap as I can.

The question I have is say the price is $230 today, could I possible see a price change in a day, week, month? Please let me know. I appreciate any positive responses.

A:Ordering from sites

Usually price changes happen every... 2 weeks at the soonest.

I bought my RAM for 41 per stick 2 months ago, and it only went down by 2 dollars, although I can buy a set of 2 of them for only 25 dollars after rebate.

Point is that they don't change really quickly.

Windows 7 with all its updates on the desired month.

OEM, I think that is how called, self-activating OS disc after whole system install. ... and, how much copies will it support, on how many PC devices it will be?

I shall order a DVD with all its updates at August, for example.

The normal install right now took me an additional 240 Windows updates, and the service is cow-slow (without SP1 pre-installed).

A:Ordering OEM Windows 7 OS

You should be able to find Windows 7 that includes SP1, but it will not have the updates issued since it was made. You can buy 1 pc or three PC licenses.

I ordered 3 copies of Windows 7 Home Premium on the preorder discount on 6-26-09. My order has not been shipped on the 23rd of October. They say they are still processing my order, yet they took out the money early on the 22nd! I will never order from the Microsoft Store again. I see that all the other retailers sent their shipments out so they would be received on the 22nd. Microsoft Store Sucks!

A:Ordering from Microsoft

Is there any way to contact some customer service and enquire about it?

And my only guess is they're most likely overwhelmed as with it being a Microsoft store, the majority of people wanting Windows 7 would have wanted to order straight from Microsoft.

I have brought your issue to the attention of an appropriate team within HP. They will likely request information from you in order to look up your case details or product serial number. Please look for a private message from an identified HP contact. Additionally, keep in mind not to publicly post personal information (serial numbers and case details).

I'd like to burn full albums to a CD-R, using MP3's. I want my MP3 player to be able to play them order, however, and I know the players read the file names alphabetically. How do I change the filenames so they will read alphabetically? Can I number them? Or put letters before the names?

A:Ordering MP3 files on CD-R

Couple of ways I can think of doing it. Your way should work.

Print the play list. Figure out your order.

Putting something like AAAA in front of a song title will make it the first one. I do that to make my play list be first. You could use a system like AABA, ABZT, CCDA etc to get songs in the order you want them. Never tried numbering them, might work.

Computers always do strange things if you don't number 001, 002, ...... 010 etc.

Course you also have to edit the filenames to agree.

currently in my office I have a HP xw4600 Workstation

I like this pc and I'll be leaving the office soon so i will need to buy my own computer. cannot take that one with me. only downfall with my current work station I could only have 2 monitors set up for it. (I could add video cards etc)

Ideally I want to be able to do 4. (I made a post "how to add more monitors" but not going to spend any money sense I will be leaving that office soon.

I would like to get another HP workstation. I have never "custom ordered" a computer.

-I need to have XP for some of my trading programs.
-prefer HP xw4600 Workstation
-want to be able to hook up 4 monitors from the get go vs buying after market video cards etc

could someone point me in the right direction what I should ask for or what model I should be looking to buy? I want to be informed before making a sales call. alot of times the reps will push what they want to push or simply dont know or decide to tell you different.

here is a link to the work space I currently have and would like to get.

I searched around some for memory modules, using the part number from my manual (and my model is an HPze4700):

I found a site that listed my HP part number exactly ( http://shopper.cnet.com/ram-random-...packard-f4696-60901/4014-3046_9-31922133.html ):

Which then links to the "Kahlon Inc." website:

And here's where I have the questions. Kahlon lists the OEM Part No. as "F4696A", NOT the full "F4696-60901". And if you scroll down that page, the HPze4700 (my model) is NOT listed. So my question is . . . is this the same part that the original page (above first) shows, and if so why isn't the full part number listed, and what's with the "A"?

I assume the "$20.49" is just the same $19.00 advertised on the original page, but with $1.49 added for what? (Because they advertise "Free Shipping" . . . if it's tax, that's a hefty 8% or so). No big deal . . . I'm not penny pinching that much . . . yet, anyway . . . just curious mostly. Is this a "bait and switch" scam?

Anyway, googling that part number at that price (and, yes, I can find other 512MB DDR266B sticks, but for more and NOT by the part number) ALWAYS leads to that Kahlon store, so it looks like they're the only game in town at that price FOR MY SPECIFIC PART NUMBER.

The reason I'm asking all these questions is because I'm a noob at this memory game. My understanding is that this stuff is pretty cranky... Read more

I'm trying to manually move items one by one from one folder into another folder. Now, I'm moving them by a very specific order. After they have been moved, I need them to be ordered according to the order by which I moved them from the original folder. I've tried to do this and afterwards order them by date accessed or date modified, but neither works, since the files are not considered modified or accessed just by moving them. Does anyone know of a solution for moving files from one folder to another, and then being able to order them, not alphabetically, but rather by the same order they were moved into the other folder.

A:Ordering items

go to control panel>folder options, view tab....make sure theres a check in the box to
"remember each folders view settings" and take the check out of the box to "restore previous folder windows at logon...hit apply>ok should do what you want...(see attached)

also in the folder your trying to keep in order click the view tab (not views) and put a check next to auto arrange...see 2nd attached, if you don't get the same view tab, try hitting the alt key..

good luck

ps try 3or 4 files before going through all the work and this don't work!, this is how mine are set and they never rearrange...

Even though I have XP SP-2 installed on my XP Home PC, I was interested in ordering a copy should I need a back-up disk. (On DSL, the download took about 50 minutes from Windows Update to another 10-15 minutes for the installation wizard to back-up and configure everything.) The thing is, when I go to Microsoft's web site to order the disk all it has is Windows XP, SP-2 PRO. I have XP Home. Are they out of the Home Disk, or will the Pro also work for users with XP Home?

If you've already downloaded SP2, just burn it to a CD. The mail-order version will not install faster than the full downloaded version.

I have an HP Envy 17 and recently the blu ray writer has stopped reading any type of disc that I put into it. I had already ordered a replacement but decided to take it apart in an attempt to salvage it as a back up. My issue is that I can't find ANYWHERE to buy cables for optical drives other than a playstation. This drive comes factory with some HP Envys so I was wondering if I could order directly from hp, or if anyone had a place I could order the cable from. Thanks in advance.

Nobody sells that as a replacement part. Optical disk drives are replace only items not repair subcomponents.

Ok I'm sorry to come to the forums immediately asking for help but this will probably be the only thing I come here for, it's not like I could give anyone here advice.

Basically i'm looking to order a new desktop, I don't want to even contemplate building one by buying parts no matter how easy I'm told it is, I don't know enough about computing. However I still want some choice over the stuff that gets put in it so I'm using a company that lets you select the parts and then builds it, if you can know of a better company, or a premade computer that would suit my needs then by all means please tell me it but it's got to be based in the UK and there's a budget I'll mention later.

OS, Vista upgrade, USB, CD Drive, RAID and everything below and including Sound card can be set to NONE or the default as I can't see them having an impact unless you think there's a reason it needs upgrading.

A:Building / Ordering a new PC

Here are two possibilities in your budget. It will depend which is more important to you, gaming or image editing. The first system has a better graphics card for gaming. The second system sacrifices the graphics for a faster CPU (image editing). The second system would still be able to run today's newer games, but you'd be turning down some of the eye candy on the more demanding games in order to get decent framerates.

Hi guys -

This started out as an audio anomaly - my MP3s started playing out of order from my USB drive (set to play sequentially from my car's head unit).

I couldn't figure out what was going on, as all the tags were correct. I recopied the files from my HD to USB, and noticed that the sequence in which Windows copies the files across was the same sequence the files played in.

Strangely, if I make a CD out of the same files, they play in the correct order.

Is there a way of forcing Windows to copy in order other than copying one file at a time! Or is this perhaps not the source of the problem to begin with?

Anybody had similar experiences?

I was going to go for this board but unfortunately I was looking on the US site and it's $40 more on the .ca site. Does anyone know a cheaper comparable motherboard?

I am getting the i5 2500k and this RAM: http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231428

Again I don't know much about motherboards I was following the techspot guide. It was nice the board supported SLI.

I don't know if you get discounts for buying a lot of things together on newegg. If not, I will probably hold off on buying a monitor until a good deal. I am looking for a 27'' monitor. If you know of a good deal, please share!

A:Last two decisions before ordering!

The only "discount" you might get buying a lot of things together might be the shipping. The total shipping on multiple items is often less than if you buy them individually. At least that's the case in the US.

I have the ASRock P67 Extreme6 and I'm very satisfied with it although it's even more expensive than the Extreme4. How about this one?: ASRock Fatal1ty P67 Performance
It's reasonably comparable to the Extreme4 but less expensive.

As far as your RAM is concerned, it's one of the brands of RAM I use although I haven't used this particular model. It should work fine.

I've got a Dell Dimension 4550 PC Windows XP SP3

As I wrote in another post my CPU Cooling Fan isn't working so I took it to Best Buy. They said that they'd need to send it out and order the fan from Dell and replace it - at a charge for each. But the tech said that if I ordered it and then brought it in they'd replace it for me.

So I called Dell and was very specific. When I checked the order, he had ordered the wrong thing - not the fan. So I canceled that and spoke to someone else - this time being meticulous and this one ordered the fan but for the wrong computer and then they said that it was on backorder so I canceled that one too!

I am so angry because I don't know how else to get what I need. I don't even know if I brought it back to Best Buy if they'd even be sent the right fan and they said it'd be about 4 weeks to fix.

So - does anyone know where I'd be able to get the specific part number for the CPU Cooling Fan for this specific computer? Or does anyone know anyone in the NYC area who'd be able to fix this for me using a different part?

It is possible to move icons, but putting them where you want them (next to a specific icon) is not easy. One of the most difficult, is to try and change to 1st icon for one of the others. You cannot easily predict what will happen.

Hi: You should be able to order W8 recovery media for your PC online from HP at the link below... http://support.hp.com/us-en/mediaorder/HP-ENVY-Phoenix-h9-1300-Desktop-PC-series/5295991/model/52972... Now, if you just want to reinstall W10 on there, you can clean install W10 on the new hard drive without the need to purchase W8 recovery disks. To do that, make the W10 installation media from the link below (media creation tool). https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10 When you get to the part where you are asked to enter a product key (which you don't have), there is a box to check 'I don't have a product key.' Check that box and W10 will install and automatically reactivate once your PC is connected to the internet.  Microsoft has a record of your PC having previously been upgraded to W10.

On my old computer, winXP there was a feature that when I was ordering parts on-line I could click a tab and it would automatically enter all the necessary information. Don't know if this was part of XP or a plug-in from some other source.
Does win 7 have a similar feature ???

My Toshiba C855-2F3 has juust had its hard drive trashed when Windows 10 had a fit. Recovery functions fail with an unknown error.
I need to reinstall theb laptop and I have no recovery media. I went to the site where you used to oreder it which says its no longer running since 31st March 2017 and it Directs me to the current Tech support site, where after going though all the questions with the automated service, it tells me to order recovery media and directs me back to the first side, which stopped on the 31st Marsh.

Simple question, when do I order recovery media now ????????????

It has gotten quite a lot of publicity allready, and IIRC it has a couple of 11 pages forum threads around the net...

And as matroxusers.com has not gone public with rumours without backup earlier, I'd say somethings coming our way

here is one of the threads over at murc... (Oh, and watch out for the "crystall ball" room... It's 99.9 BS...!)

hi, i hope i ask this question at the right forum...
i live in israel, and i would like to order a cpu and, a mobo and a video adapter from some online store at the US, since the prices abroad are much cheaper than here.
could anyone please recommend any store that accepts international orders?
i see that newegg and zipzoomfly have a good reputation among the buyers, but unfortunately they don't accept any internation orders ...

A:ordering hardware online

Try Overclockers in the UK. Email them first to make sure. They do international deliveries and are a reputable company.

Sorry if this is the wrong sub forum, I couldn't find any better and I have an old Dell laptop, so...
I'd like to reflash my BIOS with the latest firmware, however I don't necessarily trust my network, including the certificate chain, for a number of reasons. This becomes a real down-the-rabbit-hole type situation when you really think about it seriously, and for that reason I'd like to order the BIOS update on CD-ROM or similar physical media from Dell. I can't find any way of doing that though.
If that is not possible, ordering a hard copy with cryptographic checksums (such as SHA256) directly from Dell would be an equally good alternative.
Is any of these services available?

I know this is an advanced topic and that this is a community support forum, so I'd just like to help people not waste their valuable time giving irrelevant support because of misunderstandings: This is an actual problem, it does not matter what BIOS version I currently have or if I have any issues with the current firmware, etc. Likewise the Coreboot project and similar are not relevant.

A:Ordering firmware or checksums by post

There is no way to order the firmware.  If you don't trust your system/network, have a computer shop download the firmware securely and provide it for you on a CD, as you require.  Most computer shops can easily do this for a nominal fee.

Hi guys!

First off, I feel bad coming here and asking for something out of you guys for my FIRST post, but I guess if I had the knowledge to be helping others I wouldn't be here asking this to begin with. Kind of a catch 22, I suppose. Anyway!

I'm currently looking to upgrade my graphics card, and add some more memory to my system in hopes of playing Age of Conan.

I'm running a DFI Lanparty UT nf4-d motherboard

I have 1gb (512 x2 to be more accurate) of OCZ VX Gold DDR400, and I'm looking to add some more. As far as I know, my motherboard only supports up to 400 MHz speed, so I could only add more of this speed (please correct me if I'm wrong here,) so I've found this

Also, in the graphics department, I -think- as long as it's pci-e x16 i'll be fine, right? I've found this and i'm currently planning on getting that, if it everything will play nicely with each other. also, if anyone has any input towards brands on graphics cards I would appreciate it. I don't know anything about EVGA, but it appears to have fairly good reviews.

this is a 'cpu-z' on my computer if that helps.
any input is greatly appreciated!
thanks very much!

A:I want to check compatibility with the experts before ordering!

The RAM will work fine.
As you said, as long as it's PCI-E, it will work. AGP will not work in PCI-E and likewise in reverse.

You may want to remove the two 512mb sticks when you put in the two 1gb sticks. Usually works better like that but you can try all four in if you like.

Welcome to techguy!
