BSOD Unsure of Error Code but says Display Driver Error

Q: BSOD Unsure of Error Code but says Display Driver Error

I keep getting a display driver error and then the computer crashes with the BSOD. It happens quite often but I can't get the error message.

I checked my display drivers and according to the device manager, the drivers are up to date. I believe I have a AMD Radeon HD 7570

I don't know what information to give someone, but please help.

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Can you be a bit more specific? Do you get any popup balloon from system trey like this one?

Anyway, the issue is definitely display related. A stop 0x116 is display/graphics failure. And the display driver is not up to date. It is on June 2012.

Update it, but not to the latest. Uninstall your installed latest version of the display driver.

As it is a branded desktop, one info is very important, The PSU. Let us know the wattage of the PSU.

Also, is the computer hot? Report us the heat of the computer after a couple of hours of your normal usage. Upload a screenshot of the summery tab of Speccy. Alternatively, you can publish a Speccy snapshot too: Speccy - Publish Snapshot of your System Specs .

My laptop got a trojan virus about a week ago, and by changing anti-viruses to Avast, I managed to sort out the viruses. Ran a boot scan, which again found some viruses and they were fixed. However, after that the display adaptor got this error. The drivers are up to date (I have installed new ones at least a million times now) but the driver still has this problem. I tried a system restore, which solved the problem but brought back the viruses. Fixed the viruses again, which brought back the problem.

The resolution is stuck on 1024x768 and the brightness is stuck on full. It doesn't recognise when I close the lid either.

I have tried a driver sweeper, registry cleaner, downloaded all the different forms of the driver available, tried uninstalling, reinstalling them, tried windows update. Running out of options really. Any advice?

The BSOD displays "system_service_exception (win32k.sys)" when I launch TreePad Business Edition (Treepad Business Edition: All-in-one Organizer, PIM/database, Word Processor, notes manager, search engine, Web site generator and much more!) from the PC or SD card; same result in XP or W7 compatibility mode. After searching for the error code, I am reading this relates to a hardware driver.

TreePad shows W8 is supported on the home page (Treepad: Personal Information Manager, Notes Organizer, Word Processor, PIM, Database and more!) but not on the Business Edition page. As well, while running the install wizard, W8 is listed as compatible. Attempts to contact TreePad about this issue and to verify supported Windows' versions have been unsuccessful.

As suggested, attached is the ZIP file created by SF_Diagnostic_Tool.

Thanks in advance for your time and assistance!

A:BSOD When Launching TreePad, Given Driver Error Code

Hi

There is only a single crash dump can be seen on the diagnostic report so it is not possible to find a pattern in the crashes. If you are using CCleaner or Windows disk cleanup, stop using them as they will delete the dumps to save disk space.

It looks like Sophos Antivirus might playing a role in the crashes.

Please uninstall Sophos completely as a test and try to launch Treepad. If the BSOD reappears, rerun the toll and upload a new diagnostic report.

Hello, I have had this problem for around a month now and it's seriously way overdue of fixing. I tried another forum but noone gave me any real answers.

The main point is, I play Battlefield 3 and at some point it will just BSOD on me. Usually the driver IRQL less than equal. I have tried reinstalling drivers, not using overclocks and so forth.

There's a few parts to this which could be interesting. I used to get a lot more BSODs, I noticed my CPU temps were oddly out of line and installed a new cooler. The cpu still runs pretty damn hot under load even though my aftermarket cooler is massive. (Grand Kama Cross)
56-63c or so. Idle it's 36-42. The CPU is only mildly overclocked by 0.2 ghz and it's been stable for a long time, makes me feel a little iffy on the possibility of it crapping out on me now? I don't know.

The 2nd thing is that these started occuring after I got my 2nd monitor IIRC(I'm not sure, sorry). My original monitor was a normal 1920x1200 60hz one and then I got a 1920x1080 120hz next to it. I didn't notice at first that my card wasn't downclocking because of this and you could only override it by forcing the 120hz monitor to 60hz and then use nvidia inspector to use power saver. Needless to say this whole ordeal isn't always in my mind and I idle with full clocks. Whatever.

By the way when I used the SF Diagnostics tool, I noticed the even log kept saying "The NVIDIA OpenGL driver has encountered an out of memory error." A lot. What is up with t... Read more

When was the last time you checked for updated device drivers? There seem to be quite a few older drivers on your system. Older drivers can sometimes cause some of the crashes I saw in your minidumps. Don't use a driver updater tool - just visit the manufacturer website and update your drivers.

Hello,

I've recently started getting bsod on my four year old Acer 7750g-6645. The first happened randomly while browsing in chrome. The laptop froze then went to a blue screen and rebooted before I could catch the information. Upon restart/logging into my user account, moments later while idling, the computer again blue screened. This time showing unresponsive display driver error. Another time atikmpag.sys error. At the moment, using the computer in safe mode is the only way stop the bsod from happening. I would really appreciate some advice on a fix.

AMD Radeon HD 7670M 1GB VRAM

ETA: DM Log Collector's zip file wasn't showing up on my desktop or anywhere else, so I used the SF Diagnostic Tool instead.

A:BSOD, reset display driver! OCCT psu error

I was thinking it is either PSU or Mobo. I thought the mobo was fine until someone suggested it. I thought it was GPU because of the "BSOD "reset display driver". But i can not replicate the BSOD, it was replicating good for 5-6 times. Than i started messing around. If you look at the minimums on the OCCT picks you can see the voltages are low.

For the past few days I have been plagued by frequent display driver crashes, These crashes usually recover immediately, but sometimes they cause complete system crashes with BSODs (although I cannot see the BSODs because the screen goes to black). Crashes happen for seemingly no reason. Sometimes it takes hours, sometime seconds. Sometimes it crashes on the login screen. Nothing in particular makes it crash more or less.

I have attempted to diagnose and/or fix the issue with a friend who works in tech support, but we haven't come up with anything so far. Last resort is obviously Windows 7 Upgrade to replace all windows files and then complete re-install after that, but obviously I wish to avoid this.

I have scanned the machine with multiple virus/spyware/malware scans with nothing coming up. I've changed the system's TDR Delay to 10 seconds via regedit. I've turned off all services and start-up programs. I've re-installed, clean re-installed, and updated my graphics driver to the newest version. Nothing works. Various explorations through out the Event Viewer hasn't lead to anything we can see might be causing the issue.

The strangest thing is that I have even had the screen crash to black in safe-mode twice today. Safe mode was the only way the machine is usable at this point, but apparently even that isn't safe.

Hi Heaty.

A stop 0x124 is supposed to be a hardware issue, mainly, but some other things are included in its scope, sometimes.

Dont overclock.

Code:
CPUID: "Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-3770K CPU @ 3.50GHz"
MaxSpeed: 3500
CurrentSpeed: 3510
As you are getting BSODs, you should stop overclocking and run all the hardware components like CPU, GPU and RAM to their default settings.

Test your RAM modules for possible errors.

Run memtest for at least 8 passes, preferably overnight.
If it start showing errors/red lines, stop testing. A single error is enough to determine that something is going bad there.

Have been having this problem for a while now. From reading the forums I figured it must've been a faulty VGA. Tech support has replaced it for a brand new and have also given me a new PSU/Power Brick.

Whenever I tried to do anything that was VGA-demanding, it would blue screen on me, even after a fresh format. Both the new VGA and PSU have not fixed the problem, they gave me a bit more gaming time before BSODing, but not much.
Things I've already done:

- Formated the computer;
- Did a fresh install of my NVIDIA Drivers (using the remove program);
- Did a memm test, 4 passes 0 errors;
- Installed new VGA and got a new PSU (as already stated);
- Reinstalled the games that were crashing;
- Used FurMark on 1080 for 16 minutes, temps never went higher then 95 degrees;
- Tried the Windows Fix thing ("Display driver stopped responding and has recovered" error in Windows 7 or Windows Vista)

Uploading the files to see if I can get a better insight before I send this back to tech support for another week of tests. Honestly don't know what to do anymore.

Thanks for all the help in advance.

A:BSOD while using internet, unsure error

Your dumps blame the RapportPG.sys and RapportCerberus32_43926.sys drivers used by software from Trusteer Rapport Security.

You should either upgrade or remove this program.

Your McAfee security software was also involved, it's a known cause of BSODs. Replace it with MSE.

I apologize for the poor title, i will try to give a better explanation of the issue.

Initially the issue started 3-4 months ago, at which time i was using Windows 7. Around the same time one of my 2 CPU fans stopped working but because my temperature wasn't going above 50 degree celsius i was hesitant to replace any part so i kind of just ignored the issue because every test i ran at the time came back as everything is fine and the only log i could find was Kernel-Power "The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly."; which doesn't tell me much because i was forced into manually restarting my pc. Around January of 2015, i upgraded the OS to Windows 8.1 but the issue persisted. A week ago my CPU fan died and i replaced it with the EVO Hyper 212 as well as installed a new SSD drive (samsung pro 850).

The issue is hard to explain because it isn't a BSOD with a message to contribute. The timing seems random and not linked to when the pc is under stress (gaming). Sometimes it can happen right after booting, other times it won't happen for hours and sometimes it can happen several times in a very short time period.

Now for the issue itself. I have two monitors, each monitor will pick a random color from the rgb scale and take on that color for the entire screen. Monitor one might be blue and monitor two might be pink, moving the mouse or using the keyboard ... Read more

Hello again, BSOD Forum,

I've been free of frequent BSODs since earlier this year. Recently I must have installed some software or something else must have gone wrong, because the blue screens are back.

Here is what happened earlier this year, in case anyone needs any further context:

Several BSODs following power outage. Varying BCCodes and frequency.

There isn't any specific behavior or action that triggers the crashes. I was listening to Spotify and browsing the internet with Chrome on the most recent crash. Also, I seem to be having trouble installing a security update from Microsoft (Security Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB2892074)). I've tried using the "Update Readiness" tool supplied by Microsoft, but it doesn't seem to be working. It only asks if I want to install some hotfix instead of the security update that keeps failing. Not sure if these two things are related, just thought I'd throw it out there in case anyone has had experience with this issue.

Attachment 297074

Aside from that, virus scans have been clear. MSE does nightly scans (I believe), and its definitions are constantly up to date.

Attached are the SF zip files. The last crash I got was a Memory Management error. I will run Memtest86 tonight and post the results tomorrow morning. If anyone sees anything of interest in the dumps please don't hesitate to let me know.

Attachment 297071

Thanks in advance,
Jeremy

I am completely stumped by this problem. I will do my best to explain it and see what you fine folks can do.

I had an older bluetooth dongle, off-brand model, 2010-2011 year, that I installed on my new desktop computer. It worked, but sound quality on my Sony Dr-BT101 headset wasn't great. It worked well with my bluetooth-enabled phones and tablets, so I suspected the dongle. I bought a CSR8510 dongle, which came with a CSR Cambridge Radio Harmony software stack. I installed the software, and turned on the headset, paired it, but no sound came out of the headset. I went to Sound, saw no entries. Went to device managers and saw the parts in yellow. I tried to update the driver but all I got was Code 18 error and this weird message in the picture. I clicked on properties and saw this message.

Quote:
The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)

There is no driver selected for the device information set or element.

I am stumped. I've tried uninstalling, re-installing, installing other Bluetooth drivers, waving a magic wand, none of it has worked. I'm thinking it's a problem with the Registry, but I am not sure how to proceed.

Any ideas?

My wife was installing new software and when she started up the computer again it has an error message. The computer is 5 years old and the tech support has expired. I am wondering if anyone can guide me through fixing the computer. I ran an analysis and it came up with uncontrollable data error or media block. The computer gets to the windows XP screen and then a blue box comes up saying among other things to disable BIOS and cache and restart using safe mode-advanced startup options (F8). I cannot seem to get beyond the "call dell prompt".
Thank you all......

A:Error code (uncorrectable data error) [BSOD]

I assume the blue box is full screen?
It is called a BSOD(Blue Screen of Death) or just Blue screen... you may find that renaming your thread to state that its a blue screen you will probably get an answer. Best thing to start with though, would be to log in in safe mode (by tapping F8 when booting up your pc and choosing to start up in safe mode) then to uninstall the program because it is obviously the cause, what piece of software is it? generally BSODs will be to do with hardware/drivers/things that windows cannot fix on the fly.
There are other users which can give you a definitive answer with this because i am not experienced enough to know how to analyse it...

I've always had weird things wrong with my system which I've suspected memory problems, like games that take up a lot of memory would sometimes crash, etc.

I had gotten BSODs before, but RARELY. Now recently, at least once a day I've been getting this BSOD "DRIVER LESS_THAN_OR_EQUAL_TO" (something like that).

Here is the exact error I get:

Error code 1000000a, parameter1 00000000, parameter2 00000002, parameter3 00000000, parameter4 8053624f.

Error code 1000000a, parameter1 c3e9659a, parameter2 00000002, parameter3 00000001, parameter4 806ffa16.

Error code 1000000a, parameter1 00000000, parameter2 0000001c, parameter3 00000001, parameter4 804e163c.

Those above are from 3 separate occasions, all within 2 days. The odd thing is, this BSOD started coming recently. I would get a BSOD maybe 1ce a week at most before, and now I am getting this every day.

Another thing I've noticed is my computer sometimes get sluggish after a restart from a BSOD.. its very odd.

I've run windows debugger on the mini dumps of those crashes and got :

Probably caused by : SCSIPORT.SYS ( SCSIPORT+5974 ) for one of them
and
Probably caused by : ntoskrnl.exe for the other two.

Thanks.

Hello all,

I have a problem with Windows Update agent on Windows 7 SP1 enterprise.

I've tried several actions although none does any help. Here is the list of actions:
- upgrade windows update agent to the latest version
- windows update agent reset by this instructions https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/971058/how-do-i-reset-windows-update-components
- empty Temporary Internet files
- check the rules and blocked traffic on windows firewall and physical firewall between server and workstation vlan

It looks like significant Windows 7 error, although reinstalling is not my option.

Hello,

I need a help here.

After I played some games, my laptop hangs, so I decided to turn it off by the power button. Then, somethings goes wrong. I can't adjust the screen brightness. I've tried to restart my laptop again (which seems to fix it), but it won't work.

Then, I realized that every text on screen is more sharper and a bit thinner in size. I decided to go to Device Manager, and both of my display drivers has exclamation mark in it. Tried updating, but returns with "Your driver is up to date". Tried to uninstall it, but failed. Don't know why.

So, what should I do? I don't like this. I still can play any games, but with reduced frame rate, even the smallest game. Oh yeah, when I tried to change the display settings in all of those games, the screen resolution says 64 Hz, not 60.

Please help.

Akip

At times, a damaged video driver will prevent "updating" of the driver...uninstalling the driver first ensures that it is not the cause of any problems which might occur with installing the same or updated drivers.

I am not truly satisfied that the Gfx card is dead with my Screen resolution being so high/ gpu fan still runs. This Problem only occurred after trying to install a 'Cards' Game with no major stress this leading me to believe that this install has corrupted driver or system files somehow, the only other time Ive had a Graphics crash was while trying to play Mass Effect a day before.. are these signs of a dying gfx card? or do i still have hope in restoring a correct driver etc? Hi all at TSG,

I recently bought an Abit ip35 pro motherboard from a reputable ebay seller who had verified it working before sending. With my components (see below), the motherboard does not post and instead gets stuck on error code 9.0. Everything else: drives etc power up fine. I have tried an out-of-case setup to no avail and have switched almost all components with others. I still get the error code 9.0 on my led display. There is no output to the monitor whatsoever. Here are the components I used during my simple boot procedure:

PSU: Thermaltake TR2-470W (and tried with Winpower ATX-450)
RAM: Corsair XMS2 DDR2-800 (PC2-6400) CAS 4 1gb stick (out of a possible 4x1gb sticks available) (and tried with ADATA 2gb DDR2-667 stick)
GFX: Geforce 7200GS (and tried with my 8800GT 512mb)
CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 with stock intel fan (tried with Q6600 also)

Thanks for your time and help! I have tried clearing CMOS countless times, holding out the insert key when booting, pressing delete after powering on.) Additional info: there is a loud siren sound (up-down-up-down) that comes from a speaker that I attached to the motherboard's header.

So, for preparation for the new warhammer: age of reckoning I purchased a new video card to bring my specs up to run the game nice.

I got a Geforce 8600GT 512mb 128-bit DDR3 card. Im gonna run down what I did.

1. switched the cards
2. logged on, there was a automatic software update, and Installed the drivers as well off the CD (like a nub) and also a service package for vista came up for the drivers for the new card.
3. I was unable to log into any game due to a insufficient card, so I went and checked the card in Device Manager. Sure enough a Code 19 error: Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged.

things i've tried: Uninstalling the drivers and reinstalling drivers from the producer of the card (ASUS) and the card developer (nVidia) in both safe mode and regular mode. Ive system restored to the last time the registry was configured correctly, ran a registry defrag and scan, system repair with the hardrive, and I've also swapped my old card back in and it has the same error.

Ok - I'm trying to fix my friends' computer - Toshiba Satellite L455-S5975 running Windows 7 32-bit

Windows firewall is off and I need to "Update Firewall Settings". When I click use recommended settings, I get a message that says it "can't change some of your settings. Error code 0x80070424" I get the same thing when I click on "Turn Windows Firewall on or off" and "Restore Defaults"

When I click on "Advanced Settings" I get "There was an error opening the Windows Firewall with Advanced Security snap-in" followed by it "failed to load. Restart the Windows Firewall service on the computer you are managing. Error code 0x6D9."

I scanned the computer using both Avast and Microsoft Safety Scanner (full scan and took over 2 hours) - no infections or issues found

I installed all Microsoft updates and followed suggested restarts.

I ran Microsoft Fix It and I get a message that the firewall isn't running or stopped and it can't be fixed.

I have gone into services as an administrator to try and start Windows Firewall...it isn't there - not in the list of services (local)

I also used SlimDrivers to update all the drivers on the computer.

What I am not seeing is how to uninstall and reinstall Windows Firewall...any other program or hardware issue, that would seem to be the easiest solution - but I have yet to see how to do that with Windows Firewall.

I even started the computer in safe mode... Read more

Enountered a BSOD that said something along the lines of "Unknown Hard Error" with the code in the title followed by the path: \systemroot\system32\ntdll.dll
It then said something about dumping physical memory to disk. I encountered this BSOD after I purposely powered down my machine and it had been turned off for a couple of hours.

All help is greatly appreciated.

p.s. I encountered an unhandled exception error when trying to run the SF diagnostic tool so I hope it completed sufficiently.

Thanks!

System:
AMD 64X2 4200
Asus M2N4 Sli mobo
8Gb OCZ Ram
200Gb hard drive

I literally just purchased this device 3 days ago!!!!!!!!!All of a sudden my device restarted and when it booted back up, it showed three little white dots near the middle - right side of my screen. By the time it had logged into my account, it was showing a box the size of a QR code on my screen in the same place (middle-right) it hasn't moved since. It's been about 10 minutes. Everything else is still functioning correctly. However, this display error is giving me issues as it seems to be fading in and out (brighter and bolder and then down to barely visible and back again).I've even tried restarting my device and it is still there!!!! *I have not received ANY error messages.*I have only had one automatic update so far.*I am on a wireless connection if that matters, though I doubt that has anything to do with my issue at hand.  Thanks in advance for any help and advice!!!

I'm not exactly sure if this is the right forum to post to, but I'm hopin' y'all can shed some light on my situation, I was workin' on a computer I just aquired, it's a Dell Studio 1340, with an Intel Core 2 Duo P6800 clocked at 2.4 GHz, and a 256MB nVidia Geforce 9400M G graphics card, I just got done installing Windows 7, as it had Windows Vista on it when I got it, anyways, I removed the CPU and GPU cooler to inspect the thermal paste, it had next to none on it, so I noted to reapply thermal paste, during the process of reinstallation, it's a pain, trust me, it's so tight that I can hardly get my hands in there to hold it as I reinstall the cooler, the cooler flipped up with the CPU stuck to the smidge of remaining thermal paste, and, it bent a pin, so I grabbed my magnifier and tools, and proceeded to straighten it out, CPU fits snugly into the socket and appears to make perfect contact with the mobo, it flashed several error codes, but i remedied those by buttoning it back up, and now it doesn't show any picture on the display, and rapidly flashes an amber error code, no white, solid amber, and the mute volume button flashes a steady pattern, I'm hopin' I ddin't just brick the machine, as it's a nice laptop, and I don't want to spend $50 on a new CPU, as I don't want to waste my money, and it is well out or warranty, it's from 2008-09, so Dell won't want anything to do with it.
Best regards

Howdy! I've recently had the infamous "Display driver igfx stopped responding and has successfully recovered." error while playing The Ship (Steam powered). I have done research and found the most recommended solution, which is upgrading my driver.
However, after downloading the new driver for my Intel Express 82945G video card, (6/6/2007, whereas my current one is in December) I read the readme. It explicitly states that you must have at least 1 GB of system memory. However, my new Windows Vista computer only has 512 MB. Because of this, I have not yet installed the driver.
Next course of action?
Thanks!

A:Display Driver Igfx Error/ok To Upgrade Driver?

It sounds like you definitely need the new driver, but if it states you need 1 gig...you probably do. If you are playing graphics intensive games you should likely upgrade anyway.

If it were me (and I am not advising you to do this) I would back everything up first, then go ahead and try to install the new driver, and see if it worked.
