No Windows 7 drivers for my m/b on the makers website

Q: No Windows 7 drivers for my m/b on the makers website

Hi, I'm replacing a motherboard and have been careful to select one that uses (what I believe to be) a compatible chipset to my last one. (nforce/nvidia).

In my obsession to find one with all the compatible chipset, CPU socket, DDR etc I completely forgot about support for my operating system (Windows 7).

I've bought the board on ebay and awaiting it's arrival so I can get on with swapping it over and restoring my machine back to its former glory, but it is second hand with no drivers or set up disc. I would normally be cool with that as I know I could get the drivers on the manufacturers web site, but in this case, it only goes up to VISTA on the manufacturers site

Where are the Win 7 drivers for this motherboard?

Will it even work on windows 7?

Preferred Solution: No Windows 7 drivers for my m/b on the makers website

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

A:No win 7 drivers for my m/b on the makers web site.

Just for future knowledge only use Asus or Gigabyte motherboards for top quality.

As for the drivers, if ASRock doesn't support it then you won't find them. You may find 3rd party drivers but its very rare.

This is a general question for a fresh install of Windows on a computer. Let's say we just completed the installation and we open up Device Manager (we haven't used Windows Update yet). Device Manager shows us that there are - let's say "3" - devices that do not have drivers installed for them. If we visit the computer manufacturers website though, they'll have - let's say "8" - different drivers to download.

If we only install the "3" drivers for the devices that Windows couldn't find drivers for, are we hurting our computing performance by not installing the other "5" drivers that were available on the manufacturers website?

This is just good to know in general, because I've faced this situation with every install of Windows since I began computing with Windows 98. But the reason I'm asking now is because the nincompoops at Acer - despite me entering my serial number - still offer me every possible driver for my model, including drivers for hardware that's not in my computer! Windows - of course - can't identify the hardware, so I'm ready to rip out the last little bit of hair on my head.

A:General Question - Windows Installed Drivers Vs OEM Website Drivers

Some manufacturers offer an utility that helps you identify what stuff you have in the laptop, I think Acer did.
You can also try the hardware-detection program this forum has, this tutorial

Also check the driver version, as some manufacturer list multiple driver versions and you only need the latest (usually, otherwise take the last version that works).

Also, installers of these drivers usually look up the hardware IDs of the hardware and if they don't detect anything that could benefit from them will abort installation. Some instead install anyway and you will have some drivers you won't need, but won't cause any issue as again Win7 knows that they don't match any hardware ID, and will leave them alone.

So, you may have noticed that I am talking of Hardware IDs, that are basically each device's own "calling card" integrated in each device, you can identify the hardware by looking up its hardware ID and then searching it on Google to convert that code into a human-readable device model and brand.

Open device manager, right-click on an unknown device, click on "properties", then go in the "details" tab of its properties panel from Device Manager, click on the drop-down menu and select "Hardware IDs". right-click on the codes you get on the text panel below it and select copy, then search the code on Google to identify the device.

hi, can somebody tell me that drivers for AGP cards with ref to nvidia available on nvidia's own website are better to use or ones available on 3rd party websites are betters. For instance now a days the latest version of driver available on nvidia's website is 81.98, however, on some other sites e.g www.guru3d.com, latest version of driver i.e later version then 81.98 is available for nvidia cards. So my question is: is it better to go with the one available on nvidia's own site or the other one????

thnx :grinthumb

A:Are nvidia's own website drivers better or third party drivers???

I only use the WHQL drivers on Nvidia's site. Newer versions may just be beta versions or modified (hacked) drivers.

not really something that needs help or answering but it made me laugh after i was done being miffed!

everyone knows the maximum length of a usb cable is 5m or 16.4ft (well you do now)

so i just bought a 5m cable to add an extension. the seller sold me a 5mt male to male cable with a female to female adapter.. fair enough.

But when you plug the adapter into the cable and then a device into the cable it makes it slightly longer than the maximum length and the device doesnt work!

Its not the cable as i have 2, and it powers a usb HDD without the adapter, and its not the adapter as ive like 5 of the things floating about!

But ive now got 2 5m cables that are useless lol! so bought a powered hub to shut myself up! lol

Phone makers copy PCs

With the coming of 3G networks and wireless data services, cell phones aren't going to just resemble PCs. They're going to be PCs.

Cell phone designers, chipmakers, software developers and others are in the midst of retrofitting the ubiquitous cell phone so handhelds can better handle stock quotes, e-mail traffic--even applications for offtrack betting.

And the engineers are lifting many of these concepts and designs straight out of the home computer.

Many future cell phones, for instance, will come with standard computer memory, or DRAM , for rapid data access. Meanwhile, flash memory, used now for data access in phones but slower than DRAM, will function more like a hard drive.

Dual processor phones will also emerge with two CPUs, sometimes on the same piece of silicon, acting as the brain inside a handheld.Click to expand...

I don't quite get this and I doubt this is an April Fools joke. How big do they want to make cellphones?? Shouldn't they just shrink and existing notebook??

A:Phone makers copy PCs

I just read an article in the new FORTUNE magazine about how Samsung is making a cell phone like the Nokia Communicator series. They said the screen on it will be 5 inches!!! That is a big cell phone to be lugging around. Pretty soon the cell phones will be faster than my computer is now!

It's ok though, because any new technology I greet with open arms.

A:GeForce 4 Ti 4600 makers

They all perform almost exactly alike. The only difference is in the software that comes with it, and sometimes the drivers. Heatsink/Fan combos may differ with different boards, as well as TV out and different gadgets and such.

Basically, going for the cheapest is not a bad idea, you'll end up with essentially the same thing, just a little more...vanilla.

I have recently become increasingly frustrated by because it seems like most software developers now assume (or insist) that everyone who buys their products or even tries to evaluate them must now have Internet access. If you don't have net access, it seem like you are just out of luck. You can't buy their products. You can't download them. You can't even evaluate them anymore.

I should make it clear that I'm referring mostly to Freeware - but not just to Freeware. I like Freeware because in many cases I have discovered that some developers of Freeware can produce excellent products that are truly superior to paid versions. One big plus is that I don't have to give up my personal data - especially my financial data.

But it seems like many developers will no longer let me purchase and install their products if I don't have Internet access. Their installation procedure fails if I don't have Internet access. Even when I am able to download and install their products, very often I can't use the Help files without net access.

I can see some advantages to developers for insisting people have net access. Two of those advantages are:

1) People can always access the most current version of the product - especially the help files.

2) People can register the product with the developer and insure they have a legal version.

But it is also a real pain when I need to access some help info but I just don't have any Internet access. Th... Read more

I need someone with label maker experience. Every label maker I purchase only shows one label on the page. I can't figure out how to position the label to fit the blanks I have. I have 600 Neato labels that are 2 to the page. I feel completely lost and could really use some help. Thanks to everybody in advance.

A:Solved: label makers

Are you using a specific label maker that you load the labels (or tapes) into? or are you wanting to use a program on your computer that then prints onto the special formatted label paper?

If it is the latter, and if the sort of program you are wanting to use is something like MS Word (or any of the other well supported word processing programs) then all you do is select the label number (usually is is a multi-digit number) as a template of the blank document you are using.

As for just seeing one label when you are seeing it on the screen (if that is the procedure you are trying to use) it really depends upon what you want to have a result of. The single label could just be an example of what you are printing up. You will have options to print multiple identical ones on the Neato sheets, if that is what you want; or you could set up a database of multiple different labels to be printed on the multi-label sheets (it might be "2-up" on up to perhaps "66-up" on a single page.

You haven't given us enough information to help you much further.

Hi, It looks like I need some drivers for my internal 56K dialup modem, since my Windows 7 doesn't have them. It's an old modem and needs the old drivers, I guess. Since it is an Askey Computer Corporation modem, I searched for a download from the Askey website. They don't even mention downloads. So I will have to deviate from the prime directive of only downloading drivers from the mfr website! I see there are a bunch of websites that say they have what I need, including model number, fcc number, Askey brand name and everything. Websites like modemdriver.com, driverguide.com, nodevice.com, modem-drivers.com, driverzone.com, download.cnet.com and more. Is one of these sites better than the others? Will I be taking a chance of getting bloatware or worse in the download? I would think CNET would be the safest site. Opinions, advice? Thanks

A:Where to Obtain Drivers when Mfr Website has none?

Cnet requires installing their software and still can have bloatware.
Might be better off buying a new model that comes with Win 7 drivers.

Most of the driver sites will list what they tell you is out of date and that they have the drivers but that is not always the case and in all of those sites I've seen you have to pay for their drivers.

To whom it may concern:My comp has been acting strange for several weeks now. Windows date and time are messed up and refuse to stay corrected when i do fix them. The time and date are always correct but the year constantly reverts back to 2005 after i continuously change it to 2008. Because of this many different websites are not compatible with my IE because they have date sensitive certificates and my IE doesn't like them. I get asked about 5 times per site if it is okay to proceed and it is very annoying. Also I cannot do any online banking because the transactions are date sensitive. Is this a virus/trojan/bug/etc? or is this a hardware issue. My problem sounds very much like a post by Pinky Smalls at this link. I followed his/her protocol and still have had no luck clearing the issue. I tried synchronizing with internet time, but it keeps giving me and error that it is unable to connect. I have already tried replacing my motherboard battery with no help. Perhaps its time for a new mobo? or do you think it is a virus? I'd rather not end up like this guy once i put a new mobo in and infect that one too. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much. -dodsong

Hello, looking for advice. I have a Dell ATG laptop 6420 and I'm running a program called V1 golf swing analysis for my teaching business. Im having intermittent issues using the voiceover recording feature. After I record the voice over sometimes it doesn't save it. I've used this program for many years with no issues on older laptops. After I purchased this new laptop and It became infected w/ virus. Reinstalled Windows and downloaded drivers from website. Since I've never had issues with Dell laptops and the recording for voice over program on my V1 I'm thinking I didn't reinstall all of the correct drivers from the Dell website. Once I have the ATG drivers pulled up in the Dell website, How do I know which drivers I should be downloading from the Dell website ?
The computer otherwise seems to work perfect and I've spoken with the v1 tech support and they don't seem have the answers. Any suggestions or comments would be great thanks.

A:Reinstalling drivers from dell website

I don't know where you went for drivers on Dell however you could go from here after entering the information you should only be given a choice of the drivers your machine requires.
There are ways to check which driver you have installed now but it's just as easy to download them and run the installation executable.
One of two things will occur.
The driver will install or update the existing driver, if it asks if you want to remove the older driver first (for any of them) answer yes, the old one is removed, usually it will reboot and then proceed with the new installation.
The driver is not required or not the correct one so it will advice you that it won't install as it's not the right one.
In any event I think it highly unlikely you would disrupt anything doing this. Don't forget to backup and\or set a restore point before doing anything.

I am going to head out across country for Christmas. My parents need a new PC. The problem lies in the fact they don't need to pay for any software as they already have all the licenses (this was from an upgrade to their older PC a few months ago). Now I want to buy them something that is hardware warrantied that is easily serviceable. I know that the OS load has to contribute to the price a little bit. I wanted to save a few $ by buying something without any software including the OS. This way I can have it shipped to them for christmas go over there and then just load on everything.

Do any of the major companies (Dell, HP, IBM, Toshiba, Yadda yadda yadda)even sell non osed hardware at any type of discount to the standard price or should I just look for what they have bite the bullet and spend the money on things I know i am just going to format off and build from scratch.

I was thiking about buying one of the HP linux supported PC's just to find out to my dismay you still pay for a windows license even though it "supports" linux.

A:DO any of the big brand Computer makers sell non OS loaded hardware with warranty?

Symantec, ESET, Avast, and AVG all have something to say about the release of Microsoft Security Essentials, Redmond's free antimalware solution. Two are fine with it, and two are not; can you guess which ones?
Four antivirus makers have weighed in on the release of Microsoft Security Essentials, and their opinions are all over the place. We asked various security companies for their opinion on MSE, which launched yesterday, and Symantec, ESET, Avast, and AVG responded with their thoughts.
Microsoft claims it is targeting consumers who currently don't have any protection on their Windows PC, but of course MSE will end up on many computers that already have third-party security software installed. Since MSE is free, the software security market is going to get a serious shake-up, and here's what Microsoft's new competitors think about what's about to happen.

Does anybody know a good and trustworthy website to download the latest drivers of a device (other than the manufacturer's website). The driver of the device i'm looking for isn't on the manufacturer's website and Windows Update sometimes doesn't update all the hardware to the latest.

A:good and trustworty website to download drivers

softpedia.com often has device drivers. When you say it's not on the manufacturers website, do you mean Acer's website, or the device manufacturers website? For example, if you are looking for your Radeon video card driver, Acer may not have the newest version available, or might not have 7 version at all. But ATI's website will have it, if it exist.

I did a clean install of Windows 10 on my G6 and pretty much a lot of issues resolved itself. However, I wanted to check the Software and Driver page of the Win 7 64bit of my laptop and the website is not showing it at all! I also wanted to find out why HP Connection manager is not working after the upgrade.

A:HP website not showing Software and Drivers on 7/31/2016

BaltoSid You are running up against two very different problems. First, regarding the drivers, when you login to the HP site now, you will see a popup notification that the drivers pages are missing and HP is working on restoring them.  You will have to check back periodically to see if your pages have been restored. Second, HP Connect Manager does not work in current version of Win10 -- to 10586 version that got installed with the November 2015 Update.  So, it can not run in Win10, now.

I am very confused by all the hot fixes there is under my Asus laptops driver download section. How do you know if you should install all these?

My laptop model is u56e win 7 64 bit SP1

A:Asus website has hot fixes under drivers / what is needed?

Do search for the KB number that is mentioned in the zip file. Read exactly what the hot fix is trying to remedy. If your laptop is not experiencing any of the mentioned problems. I would save it for the future and not install it. If the fix remedys a problem that you have experienced I would install it. Save the ones you don't use.

I kindly request Dell to please update the AMD Graphics drivers in their website. I am using Inspiron 5548 which is having Intel HD Graphics 5500 and a discrete AMD M270 Graphics (with AMD Catalyst Control Center). The driver for AMD M270 in Dell's website is factory one and it is very old. I have written this post because I like playing heavy games on my laptop. Since the old AMD driver provides less FPS for gaming, the game appears lagging a lot  .
I have checked AMD's website and they have a new Driver as well as they have updated their AMD Catalyst Control Center to AMD ReLive Crimson software which they prove that it is 20% better than AMD Catalyst Control Center. But it is recommended that to download the drivers only from the PC manufacturer's website, that is why I am not downloading that better software.
So, I heartily request you to please please update AMD M270 as well as other AMD drivers (for my other fellow members who want this request), as this would help me and others for better gaming in their laptops or desktops with AMD Graphics.  .

Hey everyone I have the laptop listed below:http://support.hp.com/us-en/product/HP-ENVY-17-k000-Notebook-PC/6936213/model/7200472/drivers I' trying to update my graphics drivers, but when I click on the link, the graphics drivers that show up are NVIDIA, when the graphics in thic computer model is Intel HD 4600. I haven't updated the drivers in 452 days now and I can't seem to find any drivers that work. The official drivers on the Intel website redirect me to HP's website for OEM customized drivers and I can't find anything here. Am I just missing something obvious or have the wrong drivers been placed in the drivers page for this model?
