I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.
I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.
You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)
Hi,
I have bought laptop just 2 days ago, And I am having an issue that whenever I connect my laptop to power adapter for charging, the speaker panel on top of keyboard gets electrified like If I touch the Speaker panel, I get Current, and also sound becomes somewhat disruptive.
Please suggest the solution.
WHY WAS THE ORIGINAL THREAD DELETED???????
Hi,
So I just got this laptop few days ago.
The basic specs:
7th Generation Intel Core i5-7300HQ Quad Core (6MB Cache, up to 3.5 GHz)
GeForce GTX 1050 4GB GDDR5
8GB 2400MHz DDR4
Windows 10 Home 64-bit English
The problem: It restarts randomly, no blue screen, no error messages. It just goes into the Restarting process, including the screen where it says "Restarting". Basically kicking me out while I was writing documents, editing images, nothing system intensive.
This is very troublesome since it's very unreliable.
It is not Windows Update because WU asks you beforehand and tells you after reboot that the system has been restarted,
I do not think it's the temperature because I have a monitoring software that says it's cool and a cooling pad as well.
What I did (Note: I already turned off Automatic restart in System before those restarts happened) :
Checked Event Viewer nothing special, checked Reliability History, nothing special.
Did Dell BIOS(F12) comprehensive tests(3+ hours), Dell Assistant tests, memtest86, Prime95, Unengine Benchmark. Can't seem to replicate it.
Ran File System Checker, HDD bad sector scan, etc.
Finally Re-Imaged the PC using the provided Dell Tool and Image for this laptop. And still it's doing it...randomly.
Is there a program that closely monitors Windows 10 and actually tells you what's causing the restart? It seems... Read more
I got my Inspiron 15 5577 Gaming yesterday. The laptop randomly freezes for 1 - 2 sec when I am browsing.
I use Google Chrome and Opera. How can I fix it?
Also, when I check event viewer, I saw more error log from Dell softwares. Is it normal? Do you think I remove these softwares?
Hi,
Been having a problem with my new laptop that's getting progressively more annoying.
Every so often Power Monitor Lite pops up a dialogue box that states that it does not recognise my battery & that 3rd party batteries could catch on fire. I should order a new Dell battery to fix this.
Originally this happened maybe once per day. Now it can be once per hour. It now also stacks, leaving multiple instances open in the background after I leave the system on with no activity.
Seeing as my laptop is pretty much fresh from box and has had no hardware changes made to it this is obviously wrong.
It is more frustrating that if I open Power manager Lite It shows Dell as the battery maker. The only thing on the info screen is that the program cannot establish "battery health"
I would normally remove this software as Windows perfectly good power management built in but I cannot find anything listed under add/remove - this seems to be a Win 10 thing as I have found advice for Win 8 saying it can be removed this way.
Any advice on how to remove this program or at least disable it's notifications?
cheers

I have done the custom settings for battery from dell power management. I have set that the battery should start charging when it is at 50% and stop charging at 80%. When the battery has charged 80%.It has stopped charging. But the discharging of the battery is not happening itself. I have to remove the ac power so that the laptop should start using battery instead of ac power. The battery should self discharge when it reaches 80% and start charging when it reaches 50%. which is not happening currently. Can any suggest any solution.
Read other answersFOr the last few weeks... I get an error message every time I plug my charger in. Now I cannot charge my battery. sometime it works and other times not. May be related to what ever else is plugged into the house outlets at home... iPad, iPhone, Mac computers, HP printer, etc.
Very annoying and now cannot leave my puter unplugged.
I think it is a software issue as the charger and cord all work fine to keep the puter alive when plugged in.
TIA,

When I was inputting my battery charge thresholds, I noticed that the word normally was missing the letter 'a' when I clicked on the dot next to where it shows the condition of the battery. I was surprised that Dell would let something like a spelling error make it to a public version. I am running an up to date v1.0.4 of Power Manager Lite. Does anyone know how to submit there types of errors to Dell? Or more specifically, a proper email to get it to the right department? Thanks in advance.
I notified the software team. They said that it will not be corrected until the next revision.
Read other 1 answersThe Inspirion 5577 gaming keyboard is red on a black background. Unless the keyboard is backlit no one can see the letters -- it's that bad, and it is a usabilty issue.
Of course, there is the backlight function, which works just fine except for one thing. It does not stay on permanently (until the end of the session). And when it goes dark, you can't even find the key turn it on again. And if you use the wrong Key, Windows' intrusiveness with "how can I help you" nonsense can take it out of you. One has to use a flashlight...
There is a panel where the intensity of the backlight can be changed but not the duration.
Does anyone know how to change the duration of the backlight?
In addition, this is an issue that handicapped people and I dare say others are/will be afflicted with, and a solution should be found. (sticky keys are one such...)
I have a Dell Inspiron 15 (i7548-2129SLV). The system worked fine for a couple of years. Now, on boot, I get the message: "The AC power adapter wattage and type cannot be determined. The battery may not charge. …"
But I have a Dell 65w power adapter and it is connecting properly (the screen is brighter when the power adapter is connected). BIOS shows the battery is in excellent condition, as does Dell Power Manager Lite. Battery icon in the task bar shows “16% available (plugged in, not charging)”. I have followed all the instructions in another thread with the same subject, including uninstalling and reinstalling the ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery in Device Manager, and the problem remains. I even bought a new power adapter, but same problem.

Hey I have a Dell Inspiron 15 5577, which came with a 512GB M.2 SSD.
I read the official max SSD/HDD configurations from the user manual, but in the past with some other laptops I have been able to add more than the system maximums.
Per the manual, the following specifications are available:
HDD: up to 1TB (HDD only) up to 1TB HDD + up to 128GB SSD up to 512 GB (SSD only)For this laptop I was wondering if anyone had attempted to add a SSD/HDD configuration that was above the specified maximums?
I have an extra 1TB 2.5 SATA HDD and wanted to see if anyone had trouble having a 1TB SATA HHD + 512 SSD M.2 without complciations.
The "up to" specs are what the system is available with directly from Dell, unless they explicitly indicate otherwise -- for example, the memory spec on some XPS systems says, "Up to 32GB supported (additional memory sold separately)" to indicate that you can install that much memory, but you can't get it that way from Dell. There's no hardware issue that would limit the max SATA drive size to 1TB. the last hardware limit was with LBA addressing that created a problem with drives larger than 137GB, I think. Since then, there hasn't been a practical limit. The only thing that matters is the physical THICKNESS of the drive to make sure it fits in the bay. Standard thickness is 9mm, but there are also 5, 7, and 11mm drives. Very few systems accommodate 11mm drives. Most accommodate 9mm drives and will therefore accept thinner drives (though without bumpers/padding, the fit isn't always ideal), and some very thin and light systems will only accept 7 or even 5mm drives, but I doubt that would be the case for a 15-inch Inspiron.
Read other 1 answersI'm pretty confused, there is "Dell Power Manager Service" for Inspiron 7577: http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/19/drivers/driversdetails?driverId=DY59W
But there is not "Dell Power Manager Service" for Inspiron 7567.
Is here real hardware difference what limits the using of "Dell Power Manager Service" for Inspiron 7567 or it's *** Apple-style marketing move?

I am just providing the link of the clip for the bettter understanding of my issue. So please let me know if it is how it is designed or it is something like faulty hardware ???

Read other 1 answersHi all, I bought a Dell Inspiron 5577 with 8GB of DDR4 2400mhz memory about a month ago.
With a virtual machine and two instances of visual studio, I am very closing to maxing it out. As you probably know, memory has become rather expensive over the past few months and I have found some slightly less expensive memory on Amazon, but it is 2666mhz. (Link below)
I was wondering if I were to use this memory, if it would just down-clock to match the slower memory that is already in the laptop (like how it does in desktops) or just not work. Does anyone have any ideas?
Thank you in advance.
You'll have to ask the seller about compatibility - that said, to maintain dual-channel operation, you should have matched modules.
Read other 1 answersHi,
Just bought this Inspiron 15 5577.
Updated everything (incl. Bios)
It totally LACKS in Google Chrome with 3 tabs open, one of them youTube.
Extraordinary poor support, bought in US, have to call Danish support, they don't know anything about this model!! I have to send it in. Say what?? First time ever I have to send a new product back.
Dell, What a poor brand - Never again !!!
P.s. First time I ever was spammed with total worthless Dell offers, buying a new product.
Where do I write a review on their website - They hide it VERY good
Right out of the box this thing is slow as ***. Its slower than a 10 year old laptop. Its like its running on a pentium 4 or something. I tried almost everything and it still super slow. What a complete waste of money. I can't believe they shipped this without testing if it even works. I wanted to try and swap the hdd out for an ssd but guess what? No product key and no disk so I can't easily do that. I am litterally blown away by the crappiness of this laptop. I have never encountered something like this with any laptop ever. Even a *** dell mini 10 runs faster than this piece of ***.
Read other answersRecently I've came across a problem while using my dell laptop.
Whenever the brightness is lower than 100% the display starts to flicker in a strange way ( sort of video artifacts) Also happens in bios and on boot. On 100% brightness no flickers are to be seen.
I've tried updating the bios and graphics drivers none of this solutions would help, though, after updating the bios (installing any version of bios) the problem seems to go away for a little while, then it comes back.
I've seen that it is a very common problem. The laptop is fairly new, I have it for about a week or so but the problem had been there since the very beginning.
I believe it is a software issue but found no solution to it yet.
Returning it to the shop isn't really an option as it would require me sending it back to the country where it was bought from so it will make things more complicated.
specs : i7-7700HQ
FHD Display
intel hd 630
8gb ram
128gb ssd/1tb hdd
gtx 1050 4gb.
Upgraded to Windows 10 version 1709 Build 16299.64 successful.
Upgraded the latest audio driver to Realtek-High-Definition-Audio-Driver_8WWJK_WIN_6.0.1.8142_A04.EXE. I also verified the driver is installed successful.
After reboot, I notice that the audio icon appeared with the red X symbol next to it. It says No Audio Output Device is installed.
I know the audio device driver works for Windows 10 version 1703 Build 15063.726.
Please let me know if anyone else has the same issue.
Please let me know how to submit a service ticket to the Dell for this issue.

Read other 1 answersThe description for this computer states that the USB-C thunderbolt port is a ?on cord solution? for data transfer, video transfer, and power. Imagine my surprise when I docked it and got an error message that the port doesn?t accept power and to plug in my power adapter. I am hoping this is a temporary issue that will be fixed with a bios update and not an issue of false advertising and poor utilization of a fantastic technology. Can someone from Dell advise if this will be fixed in a future bios update or if it?s infact a hardware design flaw?
Hopefully a Dell rep can confirm, but sadly, I think this is going to turn out to be incorrect marketing material and not a hardware bug that will be correctable with a BIOS update. There's no way something like that would still exist as a bug, but if the port isn't wired to allow charging the system, no BIOS update will fix that.Looking at the product page for this system (screenshot immediately below), the text block above the system images mentions "Power Delivery", which typically does mean the ability to charge the system over USB-C (since systems typically don't provide large amounts of power to attached devices via USB Power Delivery), but the description of the USB-C port below the system image doesn't mention accepting power. Compare that to the image of the XPS 15 (farther below), where Power In is explicitly stated. This is also found on other systems that can charge over USB-C.

Read other answersHello, I had the Power Manager from the windows store and it was working fine until today. Today, I decided to reset windows to refresh my system (there was nothing wrong with it), Now, I install the power manager and it gives me the picture attached here:
Unfortunately, when I hit no, the program closes. If i select yes, I can only view the battery's life and not the ability to set max charge or minimum charge or adaptive charge etc. If I try to download this same program off of Dell's website (which is compatible with 7577 NOT 7567 for whatever reason) it won't let me. The easy fix is to of course find the DPM component service but I cannot find that anywhere!! So any help will be appreciated. This is a big pretty deal, as I made an account just for this reason. I find the dell power manager very helpful and love the program, but now I am beginning to question whether Dell intentionally makes the programs only for their latest laptops and products, which is ***.
My battery had recently died and I haven't had the time or money to buy a new one. My Dell laptop, which I only bought not even a full year ago, still works as long as it's plugged into a power source. The problem is, and it's the biggest nuisance ever, is that the Dell Power Manager Lite notifies me all the time that my battery isn't working or something along the lines of it. It's extremely annoying because it pops up every few minutes or seconds even and interrupts important things. I've done everything I can to try to turn off the notifications, as there is no real option to turn them off. I can't uninstall this program as it's nowhere in my files. Control panel has no way to uninstall it either. I am stuck with the most annoying popup notification. My question is, how can I turn off power manager lite notifications or uninstall the program completely when there are no straight options?

You'd need to sell the system and buy the new one. The "extra bit" of money will likely be more than a bit, as used computers will sell for 30-50% of what they did new -- warranty or not.

Read other answersSo Dell made a really terrible decision. They have a transparent strip in the power button for an LED light to indicate if the power is on. A power indicator is a given in any laptop, no matter how cheap it is. However, Dell in all of it's genius decided to not include an LED bulb on laptops up to the Inspiron 7000 Series, despite leaving a transparent slot for it. Seriously, what happened to this brand?!? Do children make these laptops now?
I want to fix this, as my laptop is no longer returnable and a power indicator is absolutely necessary. So the only thing I can think of is replacing it with one from the 7000 Series somehow (with some help probably).
This is a Dell Inspiron 5559. I also have an Inspiron 5547. Not sure which exact 7000 model I should get the part for...
Are they compatible?
Is there an easier way? Like how Fn+H turns on the hard drive indicator?
Thanks.
The systems use different case and mainboard designs -- and may even be made by different companies. The answer in all likelihood is no.
I don't think Apple has produced a Macbook with a power indicator -- the PC vendors are playing follow Apple.

I wanted to buy a new laptop and found out about Dell 5577 on the internet. I wanted to know more about it. So in the evening, I went to nearby official Dell Store in Swastik Plaza, Vasant Vihar, Thane(W).
Over there, I met Sandeep Kanade, who is the customer representative at the store. He showed me a Dell 5577 which was on display. I tried it out for a few minutes.
The laptop was good but the display looked somewhat off. The colors were not vibrant and picture quality looked dull.
Before going to the store, I had read on the internet that recent Dell laptops have TN displays with poor screen quality. An alternative to TN is IPS display which has much better display quality.
So while I was trying out the on-display Dell 5577 laptop, I asked Sandeep if this display is IPS or TN. To which he replied that its an IPS display. Then I asked the price of the laptop. He said its 85,000 Rs.
Then I asked, what if there is an issue with laptop in first few days? He said that if there is any issue with the laptop, within the first week of purchase, he will replace it.
I told him that I will come by next morning to do the payment.

I recently (a week ago) received a new Inspiron 15, 5577 with a 256 GB SSD - a Sandisk X400 M2 type. Question is, will this accept a standard SATA SSD, such as a Samsung EVO 850? As its still "new" I'm not going to open it to find out. The Dell documentation shows both the M2 and a standard hard drive. But, is the hardware (SATA connectors) there for a "standard size" SSD? Maybe I need to upgrade the M2 drive to higher capacity? but I'd rather use a Samsung EVO 850.
I plan on using this in my recording studio and 256GB is not enough.

Read other answersHello,
I have been looking for verification that if I buy the Dell 24 Gaming Monitor – S2417DG and attach it to my Inspiron 15 Gaming 7567 HDMI that I will get full 2560x1440 resolution refresh rate 165 Hz with 1ms response as the Monitor specs are listed.
I can find no information that the HDMI will pass this level of output.
I have talked to Dell tech support and they do say that the HDMI port is connected directly to the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050T i with 4GB GDDR5 but I also have seen information that HDMI will not support this.
So I am looking for verification on this configuration being compatible/able to output the full capabilities of the video card to the monitor via the on board HDMI output?
First of all, G-Sync as far as I know requires DisplayPort and will not run on HDMI. Even if it does, I don't think even HDMI 2.0 has enough bandwidth for 1440p @ 165 Hz. And even if it does though, all of the Dell systems I've seen have only had HDMI 1.4, which is only enough for 1440p @ 60 Hz. But even if all of that isn't a problem, does the Inspiron 7567 have ONLY a GeForce GPU, or does it have an Intel GPU plus a GeForce GPU? If it's the latter, G-Sync will definitely not work because in almost all systems that have both GPUs, only the Intel GPU is directly wired to the display outputs. If your system has ONLY the GeForce GPU, then G-Sync should work in theory, but again you may have the bandwidth problems I mentioned above.

Ok, so the system comes with a 460 watt power supply. Not enough to run anything more than the single GPU that comes with the system. The guy in the chat support told me it was fine and to put the 2nd card in!!!
Do these use standard ATX power supplies? I've read stories about Dell's power supplies being proprietary and motherboard pins being reversed compared to normal ATX.
Dell wanted $220+ for a 850watt upgrade, but of course refused to tell me that anything other than that power supply would work. They are out of their minds, so I just want to make sure if I buy a reasonably priced Standard ATX PSU that it will work ok on my system. Thanks!

Dear all,
Yesterday I received the new Inspirion 7000 gaming (7567). As it only has 256gb in the m.2 ssd slot I wanted to add an extra SSD in the HDD area. I tried to add a Crucial MX100 which I had in an old computer but it won't find it. (Both in BIOS as in Windows System storage). Are there any known compatibility issues between Dell and some SSD's manufacturers or are there any other solutions?
Thank you in advance!

I am thinking about buying Dell 5577 but I have question regarding RAM slot.
Does pre installed RAM use up both slots or only one?
If you download the CPU-Z utility (Google that name), check the SPD tab. You'll see a dropdown in the upper-left corner that will allow you to choose the slot of interest. The number of items in the dropdown always matches the number of slots in the system, so if you select a slot that shows no information, that means there's an empty slot in the system. Or you can go to support.dell.com and retrieve the Service Manual for your system, which will show you how to open it up and visually check the memory slots.
