windows installation tool cannot find drive or drivers

Q: windows installation tool cannot find drive or drivers

Hi,
I am trying to load our company image on a new Dell 3410 win an ssd hard drive. It currently has win 10 home. the installer gets to the point of which image to install, I click the correct 64 bit win enterprise version, and it cannot find the drive.
I search for the drivers on the USB with the image as well as the drive I am targeting, but keep getting a select the driver to install option and No signed device drivers were found.
I did not see drivers on the MS download site for the 3410. any idea where to find them?

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

well when i boot from my windows 7 retail upgrade disk to do a clean install, it say's it cant find the drivers or something and notes that i can take the disk out to put one in for it if i have one, or browse my hard drive but what the hell is it going on about? do i need to install windows 7 drivers on my vista system before i do a clean install of windows 7? i tried both the 64 and 32 bit disks, same error.. it happens on step 5 of Clean Install Windows 7 it doesn't show a license agreement, just the driver problem but when i use the windows 7 upgrade adviser it say's my computer can handle it as i originally thought.. what the hell is the problem? i really do appreciate your input, thanks in advance.
EDIT: well i tried it on another vista computer, it works fine! what the hell?

I have an Acer Aspire V3-551 with an AMD A8 2.8 Ghz processor with 500 GB of HDD space and 4 GB DDR3. I am have been running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit on my computer.

Thanks

A:Can't find drivers during Windows 7 ultimate x64 installation?

Hi Andrew,

Are you talking about drivers or drives?

Windows will detect 99.9% of the appropriate drivers required for your computer to operate during installation, and install them automatically. After installation, you can install/update specific device drivers if you wish.

Evening all,

I have just placed a 2nd hand mobo (ASRock M3A770DE) into my pc. It'ts running win 7 ultimate, all h/w is detected ok apart from the integrated network card, therefore i cannot connect to the router and onto the internet. Since win7 is not auto-detecting the integrated NIC, is their a file on the win7 disk i can point it to when i manually try to install it?

On a separate note i can connect to the net via my vaio, in case you can suggest where i can d/l a file from.

All suggestions appreciated.

hi , i recently installed mac os hackintosh on my laptop , i format my hdd to mac os journaled so that mac os can work, but then i wanted to go back to windows , so when i put my windows installation dvd to install it , it says :
we couldnt find any drives ,load your driver and continue , i need help i cant install my windows .

my pc:

hp pavillion dv6 7080se
my hdd brand is toshiba ..

A:windows 8 installation we couldnt find any drive

that is because windows does not understand the mac os journaled file system you need to go into the mac installer and then when it says to continue or pick disc go into disc utility at the top and format your drive as one partition and pick ms fat as the file system to do it as then in the windows installer you can delete and resize as you need. in the pics in options you want guid not master boot record since its windows 8.

Hi there was wondering if anyone could help me.

I bought a new custom PC from ebay, a shop called FreshTech Solutions, so when it arrived I tried installing Windows 7 Home Premium (came with it). Obviously I need to do a custom install, as I'm not upgrading from anything, but when I get to the screen where it asks where I would like to install Windows 7, nothing is listed. I've tried loading from the disc that came with the motherboard, the Windows 7 CD itself, even the C drive (said it needed to format it, but couldn't).

I don't really know much about custom computers so was wondering if anyone could help me?

I have this - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/140816631147?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649#ht_6177wt_1186

The motherboard is a Gigabyte Z77-DS3H.

1b. Make sure that your grounded first by touching the chasis or the metal on the power supply

Hi guys, i'm hoping someone can help.
I've recently bought a brand new Toshiba Satellite pro L650 running Windows 7
After a few weeks, things started to get really slow. Then I woke up one morning to discover it stuck on the first screen when I turn it on.
I thought I had a virus, so then decided to do a full re-format and re-install windows. After I formatted the correct partition, I went to install Windows 7 again
Only for it to say "windows could not detect a disc drive"
it asks me to install drivers for the hard-drive, which I can't seem to find.
it's a sata hard-drive (TOSHIBA MK6465GSX) I think is the model number.
I can not find the hard-drive drivers anywhere.

The other strange thing, is every now and then, it finds the hard-drive, but states that windows can not install onto that drive (even when I format it, try to add a partition and so forth)

I have been into bios, I don't really know a great deal of what I am looking at, but it sometimes states my hard-drive is there, and other times it does not.
I am so desperate to get this fixed. Does anyone have any ideas?
I live pretty remotely so taking it back and getting it fixed is not ideal.. but maybe necessary.
Thanks in anticipation..

- Gavin.

Hi all, I joined the forum because I?ve been going around in circles trying to fix my computer. Apologies for huge first post. The post by "aristotletalks" about 3/4 down page 1 of this thread sums up most of the pages I've read and things I've attempted: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/w...3457b4a?page=1

I?m running:
Windows 8.1
Toshiba Satellite C55A-5300 (pre-installed Win 8 - no install DVD)
Intel Celeron 1.8 GHz

I?ll try to be succinct: I can?t boot my machine except with the Recovery USB I created from MS website, and when I do that I can?t get to System Restore points or Refresh because the ?hard disk where Windows is installed is locked. Unlock and try again.? I?ve spent about 12 hours the last couple days on all kinds of forums reading about this and think I?m just going in circles at this point. I?d really like to recover the data off the drive because my backup HD also just failed this week. I?ve tried:

EasyRE software (https://neosmart.net/EasyRE/) ? it says none of the drives are active or mountable

I ran chkdsk and it was estimating it?d take 60+ days to complete!? (I stopped it). C: was showing up fine.

I?ve run various diskpart commands and have been able to see the hard disk and that it?s ?Healthy?, so it looks like the drive is noticed, but it is not "active". When I tried selecting it and setting to "active" the message showed that "disk is not a fixed MBR disk".

Hello, I need help with an issue which is nearly identical to another thread here on this forum (http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic411535.html/page__hl__ethernet+controller).
After re-installing Windows XP SP3 Professional I couldn't connect to the internet.
I looked in the Device Manager and found the following drivers had yellow ? marks:

Audio Device on High Definition Audio Bus: HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_10EC&DEV_0887&SUBSYS_1458A002&REV_1002\4&3852CD30&0&0201

Ethernet Controller:PCI\VEN_10EC&DEV_8168&SUBSYS_E0001458&REV_03\4&322CBC01&0&00E0

SM Bus Controller:PCI\VEN_27DA&SUBSYS_50011458&REV_02\3&13COBOC5&08FB

Video Controller (VGA Compatible):PCI\VEN_80868&DEV_A001&SUBSYS_D00014588REV_0213&13COBOC5&0&10

I followed the advice given on the aforementioned thread and have installed/run Everest & Speccy.
The computer doesn't belong to me, it's a desktop system with a small tower (no optical disk drive) and I cannot see any brand, manufacturer name or model number whatsoever.

If someone could let me know which details are required from Everest and/or Speccy?
Any help is very much welcome!

Been dealing with a dozen different issues to get my new PC working. I'm finally just giving in to repairing Windows XP. However, my Windows XP installation that I want to repair and use is on a SATA RAID. Just 2 HDDs. Despite my motherboard recognizing the healthy RAID, the Windows XP install doesn't.

Of course, I figure it's because it needs the whole F6 + floppy disk thing with SATA and RAID drivers. Well wonderful, because I can't make the floppy because the only PC I can make the floppy with... is the one I'm trying to put Windows XP on. To make matters worse, XFX decided to make it impossible to simply access the SATA and RAID drivers, they need to be directly written to a floppy.

Solution? Virtual floppy disk drive. Ran the "Create RAID Drivers Disk" option on the XFX Driver CD. Transferred the drivers out of the virtual floppy disk. Used nLite to integrate the drivers into a new Windows XP install disc, based off of the one that came with my HP Laptop through my college. Viola, no longer need the F6 + Floppy Disk step.

Except I still get "Setup did not find any hard disk drives installed in your computer.". What the bloody hell? Was that not the entire point of the driver integration?

Motherboard is XFX GeForce 8200. Two 150GB SATA drives in RAID 0 connected. OS is Windows XP SP 2. Motherboard recognizes the RAID but Windows XP SP 2 installer doesn't despite slipstream integration of drivers with nLite.

A:Slipstreamed SATA/RAID Drivers on Installation - Setup fails to find HDDs

Well, more wonderful news. Used a public PC to make the RAID disk, since the slipstreamed CD is being a POS. Tried the original CD *and* the slipstreamed CD: Press F6, press S, press enter. Says "Please wait..." then it returns to the previous screen... so I press enter again. Same thing. Thought maybe the diskette was FUBAR. So I used a blank one and it responded with not finding a "txtsetupOEM" or some such, which is good, because that's true. Except that means it's clearly finding it on the RAID diskette but it chooses to be a ***** and not do anything more than that.

So this is bloody pissing me off because I haven't had a single thing succeed here. If anyone has any suggestions, I'd love to hear them, because I'm 100% out of ideas.

I hope Rolling Rog is available as you helped me in my last fiasco!

When attempting to install another printer I uninstalled currently working printers. Now I cant get my other printers re-installed.

Help. I need to install my Canon Pixma MP450 and my Canon i560. I installed them myself before but now I feel like a moron. I did install them just the other day on my laptop so I know that the install cd's work and that the printers work but just not on my desktop.

I currently have an HP LaserJet6P on my desktop but alas, although it works, perhaps it is not installed correctly. I'm including a pic attachment of my device manager screen.

When I attempted to install the mp450 it does install all the icons and tool bar for printing but just doesn't seem to properly install the driver.

Any help will be greatly appreciated!!!

Hi -

Re-format the HDD with KillDisk then try XP or Vista install again. Which do you want?

KillDisk - http://www.killdisk.com/downloadfree.htm

Make bootable KillDisk ISO CD w/ ImgBurn -

KillDisk will find some areas on the HDD that "regular" formatting does not.

I use two hard drives, a smaller one that runs XP and a larger one for primarily storage. I replaced the storage drive...this had been the "first" drive and was labeled c: while the one running XP was labeled d:

I installed the new drive and rebooted. In the process, the volume labels flipped: the primary drive became c: and the storage drive becoming d:

This has thrown Windows into a world of confusion and all previously installed programs show up as uninstalled. They are still there in "program files" but many of them refuse to open, reporting not being able to find .dll files which I can search for and find on the computer.

Is this a registry issue? Is there a way to reconcile it without installing all this software again?

I'm getting a new system, and I want to wipe out Windows 7 and install Windows XP on my old system. I have not actually done anything yet--Windows 7 is still installed--but I'm trying to understand what I need to do.

I don't have a floppy drive, so I want to try the nLite slipstream procedure.

Unfortunately I've looked everywhere I can think of, and I have not found the SATA drivers. My motherboard is an MSI X-58 Pro-E (MS-7522)3.0, and my hard drive is a Western Digital Raptor 300GB 10,000 RPM Model No.: WD3000GLFS. I've looked at the MSI site, the Western Digital site, and the CyberPower site. I've looked in my Windows 7 installation disk. I've made numerous searches on the Internet....I just can't find those drivers, or the .inf file(s).

My PC manufacturer did not send me any floppy disk or CD having drivers for either my motherboard or my hard drive. I have submitted an email to Western Digital customer support, but today is Saturday, and I do not expect a reply before Monday.

Where can I find those drivers? (and the .inf file(s)).

You should be able to find the driver you need at the manufacurers site under chipset drivers.

Their is no specific driver needed for your hard drive.

Once you have iinstalled you chipset drivers you can install the XP as usual, just insert the disc format and install.

Hi,

I updated the DVD drive firmware to a version available on Dell's website (original D300, current DW10).

Now every time Vista starts, the "found New Hardware" wizard opens and attempts to install drivers for the DVD drive (which it doesn't find).

The drive functions perfectly, it appears in "Computer", and I am certain there are no drivers that need to be updated.

How do I get Vista to stop nagging me to update the drivers ?

I have been trying to solve this problem for 2 hours and it has brought me nearly to tears. I have googled the hell out of it and every 'solution' I find is useless.

When I plug in my USB flash drive, Windows 7 Home Premium automatically locates and installs what it thinks is the 'correct' driver. I want it to STOP DOING THAT.

I have turned off Windows Update, but that really isn't relevant because it is not searching the internet for the file and then installing it; the file is SOMEWHERE on my system already and it is finding it and installing it.

I have uninstalled the device in device manager and manually gone in and deleted the existing driver file. I have used search to try and see if there is another copy of the file on my system and it does not find one.

If I try to go in and manually update the drivers for the drive, it refuses to let me; it tells me that the best driver is already installed.

I have found a set of instructions posted all over the place that begins by telling me to go to START and search for "gpedit.msc", but when I do it does not locate this file.

There has GOT TO BE A WAY to FORCE the computer to STOP automatically installing drivers for plug and play devices, and to let me do it manually!!!!

A:System FORCES installation of drivers when I plug in USB drive

Just wondering, why do you want it to not install the latest drivers that windows can find?

Every time I get this message:

"Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some
of them. Details are included in the CBS.Log windir\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. For
example C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. Note that logging is currently not
supported in offline servicing scenarios."

So researching online, I found that using the DISM tool will fix this issue.

However every time I run the command, I get this:

"Error: 0x800f081f

The source files could not be found.
Use the "Source" option to specify the location of the files that are required to restore the feature. For more information on specifying a source location, see Configure a Windows Repair Source.

The DISM log file can be found at C:\WINDOWS\Logs\DISM\dism.log"

I've even tried mounting the windows 10 iso that I downloaded from the media creation tool and running it again, however I still get the same message to no avail. I've seen other forums with users saying to use the original windows 10 iso and not to use the iso created by the media creation tool. However I can't seem to find this file and am not sure it would work anyways.

Before I begin, I apologise if this is in the wrong section.

This may be a bad thing, but when Patch Tuesday comes around, I don't think to install the updates right away. Rather, I just keep using my PC as usual until the updates install themselves when I shut my PC down. Last month, the malware removal tool wouldn't install itself. I had to open Windows Update and install it myself. The same thing happened today. My spare laptop doesn't have any problems installing it on shutdown. The problem is only occurring on the PC I use every day.

I'm starting to worry that some sort of malware has crept onto my PC and is preventing the update from installing itself. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

What happens if you try to use Windows Update to check for new updates?
Do you get any error messages? If so post a snip of them.

This is the preferred, best way to upload an image or a file to a post. Press the ALT and PrntScrn keys at the same time, this will capture only the active window to use in Paint or your preferred graphics editor.

Screenshots and Files - Upload and Post in Seven Forums
You may also upload a photo or image you already have as you would a file, without using the Snipping tool.

Option 2 here may help.
Windows Update - Reset

A:I can't find system information tool in windows 8.1 proffesional , I look in search but whithout results

Confirmed.   I suspect that the option to enable Administrator tools to show up in a search needs to be re-allowed but I can't find it any more.  It always was somewhat obscure...

Wow.  Is this really WAD?  Win-W  Admin tools  only opens Administrative Tools in FE and System Information (msinfo32.exe) can be used from there.
Even stranger,  msinfo32  is only found using Everywhere?  Not in Files?  And I had to type that much, nothing less?
I can't remember if it was ever in Win-X but it isn't now.

FWIW I can still find  msinfo32.exe  via Run...  so I haven't missed this so far.  <eg>

I have seen a thread on this topic, old (312 days) and didn't report a clear solution. I intalled quite some time ago a Windows7 RC1 64 bit, which worked fine and honestly was not bad at all. Unfortunately I didn't use it for a while and now I discovered it expired, so I need a new clean istallation to do my job: find compatibility issues with WIndows 7 professional edition. I received a new DVD with activation key (i guess it must have been downloaded from MSDN) for the purpose. I'm running windows XP 32 bit right now, but can't install windows 7 because after booting from the DVD it says it can not find a suitable driver. What is this about? I can see all my 4 HDs and the 3 DVDs (one is a Blue Ray driver less than 9 months old ) 2 are sata drivers (a Plaxtor burner and the LG BDD); the 3rd one is an old Toshiba IDE DVD rom (still the faster of the 3). In the installation windows I can browse all drivers and directories, I have unzipped the X58 matheboard drivers in a directory. The installation program can load the drivers (even very very slow).... I tried to load several drivers, but I can't figure out which driver is needed; a DVD rom driver is not available, the MB drivers are not helping either, I'm stuck. I do not want to report " forget about WIndows7" again...we need to move to a 64 bit OS. Can someone help me figure out where the problem is located and find a solution?
Thanks

Hi there,
I've been trying for around 6 hours today to get my new computer up and running, but I've run into a problem, my sata disk wont be located during the windows 7 installation. "No drives were found" I've turned on AHCI and I've downloaded drivers from Gigabyte's homepage, but I get the message "To continue installation, use the Load Driver option to install 32-bit and signed 64-bit drivers. installing an unsigned 64-bit device driver is not supported and might result in an unusable Windows installation." Anyone have any ideas on what I can do?

I tried installing Fedora 13 64 bit OS with dual booting enabled on my Windows 7 Ultimate OS. The partitions were 257 GB dedicated entirely for Windows (C: Drive) and the remaining 50 GB was allocated for Fedora installation.

I made grub as the default bootloader handler and completed the installation. But after this I started experiencing problems. I was unable to loginto Windows, as my system started showing the blue screen whenever I tried logging into Windows..After that, I made a whole mess by doing some unwanted steps which I never had any idea of..

Now I cant view my HDD to install Windows, No drives are being displayed soon after I select the "Custom option" to install Windows.. And When I click on "Load Driver" its just showing me an X: Drive which has around 100MB capacity and has four folders. I tried System Restore and some of the other options that were present in the Windows repair option but was unsuccessful..

I am confused as to what could have happened to my HDD and I would greatly appreciate your help in recovering my HDD. ( Is there any third party utility to wipe clean my HDD??? Reformat it completely and convert the partitions into NTFS, so that I could install a copy of windows) .

My laptop model Dell N5010...RAM 4 GB..HDD 320 GB...

Thanking you....

A:Cant find HDD for Windows 7 installation...

[email protected] will completely wipe drive, it will also make data unrecoverable but it has worked for me every time. It basically gives you an empty drive.
I use the US DOD 3 Pass method and it takes between 5 to 8 hours to complete depending on the size of the drive but you can choose more or less passes.
Just install it on another machine, restart with the dead drive connected, select the dead drive and kill it.

It's a great program, good luck.

Hi!
I'll get right to it. I have a vizio all in one desktop (CA24-A2 to be exact). I purchased it with windows 7 installed on it, and i upgraded it to windows 8. I decided to return back to windows 7 because the Metro UI always crashed on me. I purchased a windows 7 disc and booted the computer off the disc. When the installation asks which drive to install it to, nothing appears. For some reason, the installation disc is not reading the drives. I've checked vizio's page, but didn't find any drivers for the hard drive. I check the Bios menu and both drives appear. I've read on other forum about changing the bios mode (AHCI,IDE), but my bios menu is very restricted, and i dont have that option available. I used MiniTool Partition wizard on a bootable cd, and it was able to see my hard drives. I added some pictures below, hopefully it helps.

On top of not reading the drives, windows 8 won't boot up now and i keep getting "bootmgr is missing" error. I would appreciate any help, I've been stuck on this for the last few days.

A:Windows Installation can't find drives.

from what I can see you are missing the system reserved partition, this is why you have this error

When I follow the instructions to do a repair of XP SP2 (with a slipstreamed CD), after I press F8 to accept the EULA, I do NOT get the screen asking if I want to repair an existing windows installation. Instead, it asks me where I want to install XP Pro, and gives me a list of options (matching my various hard drives and partitions).

Any idea how I can get the install CD to find my existing Windows installation so I get the repair option.

Thanks.
