Lenovo YOGA X1 - Very slow PXE booting

Q: Lenovo YOGA X1 - Very slow PXE booting

We use a variety of model of laptop and workstation and build them using Microsoft ConfigMgr (SCCM), using PXE boot to get into Windows PE, where SCCM then applies the image and software. We are finding the Lenovo units take a long time (between 7 and 15 minutes) to proceed from when we start the PXE boot and when the unit loads into Windows PE. It sits there saying "Loading files..." and thats where it sits for that time. Lower spec'd models, such as DELL 7xxx series, proceed much quicker. We are using Secure Boot, with UEFI when we PXE boot. We use same settings on DELLs when we PXE boot. If anyone is also experiencing this issue, we would love to know a fix, as it is adding build time to what is otherwise a fantastic unit.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi guys,I fresh reinstalled windows yesterday and allowed it to collect updates overnight, including drivers. This morning I wake up and powering on the machine, I am greeted with a recovery screen. Selecting exit and continue brings me back to the recovery screen.I tried refreshing it from that screen, though it asks for recovery media, of which there appears to be none, even when I have a properly configured and bootable recovery media USB key inserted. As a recovery bootable device I use a lexar 8 gb USB drive. The machine has no optical drive. The only thing I can gather is that USB and or legacy boot mode are not enabeled. As I am totally blind, I have very little knowledge of the bios of this particular device, and any decent explanations are scarce.I know how to get to them (press f2 for bios and f12 for boot menu I believe) though anything else is beyond me.Could somebody tell me what to press at the keyboard to enable USB mode, and or legacy mode, if that particular option is needed? And by the way, for those curious about how I gathered information about the recovery screens, I use an app called seeing AI, which takes screenshots of anything you tell it to, and tries to tel you what it sees.Even with good lighting, the seeing AI app isn't of much use to help navigating the bios menu. Most problematic, I can't tell exactly what order the app sees the options, as compared to what order they are actually in.I would be most greatful if anyone could help, as this is the only ... Try and boot with charger plugged in. If this works try installing the latest updates you may have restart and install more than once so be patient. If this doesn't work check with your device maker.

Hello and welcome,

Use the Novo button to access BIOS.  Page 11 of the User's Guide:

You don't say which 730 you have, but the way I read the base specifications they both require a PCIe SSD, not SATA.

I am having an issue with our Lenovo Thinkpad Yoga's connecting to our MDT 2012 server.  When I boot to Windows PE and try to connect to the deployment share I receive the message, "no networking devices found on this machine!."  I was able to find a link to MDT drivers on the Lenovo site https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/documents/ht074984.  I have imported this driver into MDT and created a selection profile. I have ensured that the driver is in the boot image.  I have also tried injecting the drivers manually while booted into PE.  Just for good measure I even tried the drivers for the Think Pro One Link Dock and for the USB to ethernet dongle.  I have researched the web for solutions on this issue and tried all that I have found thus far. Oh by the way I have even totally recreated the MDT server from scratch and I still have this issue with the Yoga. I have other models of Lenovo computers and I can connect to the MDT server in PE on these machines.  Any advice or assistance would be highly appreciated as I am under the gun to get this up and working.

Hello all, I am looking for some help.  I just bought each of my kids a Lenovo Yoga 710 11 inch model.  We just got them turned on and connected to the Internet via our Wifi and they each downloaded Roblox.  When they go to play Roblox the games will not load or they take a good 5 minutes to load or the game will just leave the screen as it is trying to load?  Is this a common problem?  Is this not a good notebook for having a couple of games on?  I only wanted a notebook for them for schoolwork and gaming should I have went with something different?

I've had my new yoga 3 11" for a couple  of  weeks and everything has been great, apart from very slow internet connection. First, I thought it was my internet provider is just slow, but I tried with other laptop/tablet/phone and they all give me acceptable speed. Whereas this laptop is being extremely slow, when going to facebook website, the page doesn't load fully when scrolling and it lags a lot of youtube videos. Sometimes just can't connect to the page error. If I do other operations on the laptop it's fine. So I guess it's just the internet. I'm currently on windows 10 btw. Can anyone suggest what could be wrong before I'm sending it back to the seller for faulty? Thanks

I recently updated my computer through Lenovo Vantage there I specifically remember a BIOS update being one of them. I've also downloaded a Windows store program called ReadAloud. My computer usually boots up within 10 seconds, but for some reason it takes 3- 5 minutes to get to the login screen. I had originally thought I was stuck on boot. I've called Lenovo customer support. They had me completely power off my computer. Then press the little reset button that has a arrow next to it. We discovered that my SSD was being recognized. Employee had me press F9/F10 to load and save optimal BIOS/Boot settings. While I was messing with these settings the menu loaded terribly slowly. I would press the down arrow or side arrow to traverse through the menu and the inputs were regestering 10-15 seconds later. I tried opening Lenovo Vantage today and there was an error. Windows store reccomended that I reinstall it which I'm doing now but the download has been stuck at 444.1 kb. This computer is still under warrenty, but the abnormaly long boot times is starting to affect my productivty. Lastly I will point out that the computer sometimes shuts off when I close is which isnt normal, instead of waking when opening the computer I have to wait  roughly 5 minutes for the loginscreen before I can do anything. Any help is appriciated!

I bought this Lenovo in November 2015. I have found that it operates really slowly ie. when I open a new tab for internet or open another program, it takes a while falsoor anything to open. Also, it gets really hot around the hinge area so Im not sure if this affects performance.I contacted Lenovo about how hot the Yoga was getting and was told that this slimline model does not have a fan so will get hotter than older style laptops.I chose this model to replace the U330 touch (which worked  fine but had a problem with so John Lewis repalced it with this model).Another issue I have with this model is the battery life seems so short. The U330 Touch lasted mcuh longer, so I keep this one contatcly charging (as advised by Lenovo representative). Why does this Lenvo operate so slowly?  Ive done a wifi speed check and its around 50mbs.Another complaint is the volume is extremely low at maximum, so you can only wwatch a film with headphones to get any decent sound volume. Can anyone help with these issues or is the laptop just not very good. Many thanks.

Since you have to hunt around different Lenovo sites (and other sites) to find out about these softwares, I decided to make a post to get feedback from actual Yoga owners on how these programs interact, what they do, which ones are prerequisite, and which ones are unnecessary. Please don't take this as a blanket answer. This is just what I have found. It might be right - it might be wrong. I'm looking for others to post their experiences as well. Lenovo System Interface Foundation Driver - Necessary prerequisite (missing driver in device manager without it). It allows the Lenovo Utility and Lenovo Companion to work. Lenovo Yoga Mode Control - Necessary if you want to use your yoga to seemlessly change between all the different modes (laptop, tablet, tent, stand). This software is responsible for autorotating and putting Windows into tablet mode. Lenovo Utility - Recommended(?) This one I'm not too sure on. I remember that I was missing some function that I wanted but I can't remember what it was now. Maybe battery cycle count and health? Lenovo Companion - I don't have this one installed and don't think it's necessary but would like someone else to shed some light here.

A:Lenovo Refurbished Yoga 500 Slow Boot Times

Hi jimmisavage ,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

On slow booting system , testing how it behaves on safe mode can help check if add on programs are causing this along with running diagnostics.  If no hardware issue detected on the test , then you may proceed checking with windows update if there are any process running in the background like installation and update.

Using another account such as local administrator  instead of a microsoft account isolates any Microsoft features and software usually synched with Microsoft Store applications can help.

Clean boot can make boot up faster by disabling non essential programs everytime you restart. Some would even disable hibernate to speed it up and likewise increase data space specially if you do not really need to use such feature.

Hope this helps answer your query.

Hi everyone, I have a Lenovo Yoga 510, bought about a month ago, and it had this problem from the beginning. After the laptop goes into sleep mode, when it wakes up, it connects to  the internet but it does not work; when I go on any browser (tried it`s own internet explorer, chrome, firefox, etc) the pages don`t load up at all, or in a happy scenario just partially. Sometimes even I restart the devices the problem persists. I have tried to change the settings for the power options to not limit the wifi adapter power to save baterry life, and from device manager same settings (don`t turn off wifi). Still nothing worked. If anyone has any tips regarding this it would be very much appreciated. Currently I`m using Windows 10. Many thanks, Cosmin

Hello, my Lenovo Yoga 720-13IKB 81C3 has an issue. When you rotate the laptop past the 180 degree point, it takes just about three seconds to lock the keyboard (it also takes three seconds when you flip it back to laptop orientation). I was wondering If there is a way I could make the keyboard shut off instantly when flipped past 180 degrees, whether that is a setting in some Lenovo software that I have not discovered, or another program entirely besides Lenovo Yoga Mode Control. I have already tried to reinstall YMC, along with resetting the laptop to factory settings, but neither have given me any success. Thank you for any help!

Hello Everyone, This is my first post in the community, which is also why i might not be in the right section. Apologies in advance! I work in IT, and i help manage different Lenovo Thinkpads. We current have 20-30 Yoga 370 in our network.  On more than one occasion i've experienced this model running extremely slow. So what i did was, i pulled up the task mgr, but nothing seemed out of the ordinary. CPU was running steady at 40%ish, and plenty of RAM available. Reboot didn't resolve anything. The only thing which fixes the issue is unplugging the Docking Cord (USB-C), and plugging it again.  I was wondering if this is a known issue. Because i've experienced it around 10 times, but never frequently on the same machine. It's not the biggest problem, but i would like to know if anyone else has experienced this.  Best regards Jeppe

Hi all, on June 2017 (around 3 months and half ago) I bought a Lenovo Yoga 510-14AST Laptop (ideapad) - Type 80S9 - Model 80S9000MIX.I immediately saw a huge slowness but I didn't have a good chance to deep dive the issue. In the last couple of weeks I investigated and found that when launching any of the installed applications (even just the browsers MS Edge or Chrome) the CPU and Hard Disk reach immediately 100% of occupation from Task Manager.I asked to the Lenovo Support guys and they suggested me to try One Key Recovery.I did it and unfortunately it didn't solve. Now the Laptop is reset with factory defaults but even just launching "Lenovo Companion" app cause cpu and hd to move quickly to 100%.The laptop is completely unusable and I'm quite disappointed because the performances are so poor like a Netbook with Intel Atom cpu.I contacted again Lenovo and they told me to send it for technical assistance.I will do it but I would ask if someone that has bought the same model experienced the same.My idea is to ask a replacement with another Lenovo model more performant (paying the difference if needed).Do you think it would a reasonable request? Thanks a lot for al your collaborationBest regardsFabio

On the surface, both the Yoga 910 and Yoga 920 look nearly identical, but in my testing, I prefer one over the other. Let's dig deeper to see the differences between the two!To get this out of the way, both machines have 1TB PCIe storage, 16GB memory, and the Yoga 910 has the 7th gen i7-7550U processor, and the Yoga 920 has the 8th gen i7-8550U processor.

Hardware & Design
Both the Yoga 910 and Yoga 920 are built out of aluminum, which gives them a high quality feel to them.  Both laptops have the keyboard integrated into the chassis, which means less keyboard flex. One thing that I find better in the Yoga 920 is the fact that it's all smooth edges around.  The Yoga 910 has pretty sharp edges which means you could scratch your surface or yourself.  The sharp edges of the Yoga 910 was a common complaint, and I'm glad they rectified it.

The Yoga 920 also has a little slit on the display lid that makes it much easier to open the lap... Read more

Hello Dws520Thanks for using the Lenovo forums. Was this the creators update?
If so, have a look on the following post, this should show if your device has been tested with the update yet:
https://support.lenovo.com/gb/en/solutions/ht503655

From what I can see, your unit does not seems to have made the list, which leads me to believe that this will be the cause of the issue, I would recommend that you revert back to the previous version of Windows, and observe if the fault still occurs or not.

Hope this helps, let us know how you get on.==================================================================================Did someone help you today? Thank them with a Kudo! If you find a post helpful and it answers your question, please mark it as an "Accepted Solution"!

Is it possible without too much hassle? I know it's not a big deal but the logo is simply terrible in so many ways. I have some problems with the Lenovo software. Lenovo Account Portal does not launch Lenovo Companion and Lenovo Settings. Also, Lenovo Solution Center is missing from the Start Menu. The second problem is that some tiles are blank in Start Menu. Seemingly it's the apps that aren't Metro. I'm not sure when the problem started, but I think it was like that since I got the PC. If I right click the apps, the only option will be "Pin to Start", and with some apps: Share and Rate. Here's a picture of the problem:I did already try:Restarting the PC.Doing scannow, DISM, and scannow again.Fixing Registry errors with CCleaner.Updating BIOS and drivers. What can I do to fix the problem?

I bought the Lenovo yoga 900 in December as i was about start medical school, now after only about 6 months of use, while i was using it one evening, i decided to take a break from school work, when I got back to my computer it had powered down and tried to reboot but didn't make it pass the Lenovo screen, i tired exhausting the battery power and trying it again but to no avail. so my question is has anyone had this kind of problem before and if so what is the solution? Also is this a common problem and how long is the company warranty for my 6 month old computer, in case i need to give it back to get something more reliable, its kind of disheartening as i had believed this was the best decision i made for medical school, but now am left with the possibility of failing the semester due to faullty equipment. SOOO PLEASE SOMEBODY HELP ME SAVE MY SEMESTER. Thnak youjay

A:Lenovo Yoga 910 wont load pass the Lenovo screen.

Try getting into BIOS first and loading default settings. To do this, press the small "Novo" button (you'll need a paperclip for this), and select "BIOS setup". From there, use the arrow keys to get to the "exit" tab and select load default settings.

If this doesn't work, let me know.

My son accidentally got his leg caught in the cord of his laptop when he got up and the laptop  fell approximately 2 feet to the tile floor.  It boots up but stays on the Lenovo splash screen.  If I go into the BIOS and select System Recovery it goes through the "Loading files..." process, the Lenovo splash screen appears with the dots going in a circle but, then after about 2 minutes of that the screen just goes black.  If I tilt the screen forward or back I can tell it is still backlit just with nothing to display.  Anything we can try?
