I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A:What is the maximum capacity of my RAM and my HDD?

Maximum RAM is 16 gigs. Maximum storage is not an issue. You can install any SATA hard drive or SSD you can buy, which is within the physical size limits.  Supports 6.35-cm (2.5-in) SATA hard drives in 9.5-mm (.37-in) and 7.0-mm (.28-in) thicknesses   The max capacity exceeds the hardware available to purchase. A 500 gig SSD will be no problem at all.

According to  Personal Systems Reference Lenovo Essential Notebooks2006 to present - withdrawn, 4 GB is maximum capacity for my model but I'm not sure what does it mean.  Doest it mean I can install 4 GB RAM  for each slot ? It means 2-2gb sticks total.  1   2 gb stick in each slot.

It looks like you already have 1-2gb stick in there, so you would just have to replace the 1-1gb stick with a 2gb stick.

I just read an atricale on a HP M8200n that switched betwen a 500gb and a 1.5 T. Seems it would be OK to me. Hopefully you'll get some HP members with a more definitive answers. Fabe

Hey,

At first, i had this problem when i cancelled a tune up by live onecare. The cpu usage went up to 100%. After tried everything logical and usual, i finally tried to reformat.

After 5-6 times reformatting, the results i get change a little bit. When i take a look at the task manager, under the performance tab, the cpu usage is at 50-70%. And as I used core duo processor, i could see both cpu usage history. Here comes the weird part, only the first processor is used to the maximum. Meaning, the 50-70% cpu usage is mainly from the first processor. The reading on the second one is nearly zero. How can is my computer becomes stupid enough to use only one cpu when there are two and i never even change any settings on the device manager?

I have to wait atleast 10 mins to open My Computer, just to have see the search torch searching for what i have in My Computer.. Whenever i click on anything about the internet connection, it`ll hang, even in the task manager. Seriously, this is a weird one. I tried to look for the problem on the net, cant find even one close one.

Any help would be appreciated.

A:Core Duo Uses Only One Cpu To Maximum Capacity

Try uninstalling Live One Care...and comparing.

When I tried it (in beta), I found it to be a resource hog and removed it from that system.

Hi - New here. I have acquired a:

Toshiba Satellite Pro A120
Model No. PSAC1E-04H00VEN

It is minus its hard drive. I have a spare 160GB hard drive but when I try to install this using the recovery disc, the operation just sticks on the "Please wait..." message. I note the spec for the A120 says it supports 40 to 120GB drives. Is that strictly true and hence why I can't install this 160GB drive?

Thanks.

A:Satellite Pro A120 - Maximum HDD capacity?

Hi Lapitup,

Usually 160GB should be no problem because the notebook supports SATA interface and there is no capacity limits so you can install every HDD.

Interesting to know would be what HDD you have installed exactly and if you have tested in on another computer because the HDD itself could be problem and not the computer. If the HDD is malfunctioning the recovery disk content can?t be installed so you get an error message.

I have bought 2GB (2x 1gig sticks) of corsair XMS PC6400 800MHz ram. I have read that if you decide to have more then 2gig u have to drop the clock speed to 667MHz... my goal is 4gig but i dont want to lower the speed.

A:Solved: Maximum Corsair capacity

I can't say i have heard of this, but the closest thing to this that i have came across is that this does happen when using an AMD processor, as before E6 stepping was introduced the CPU could not support 400/200mhz FSB and would bump it down to 333/166mhz; though this is obviously not an issue with CPU's with E6 stepping.

Hi, I have had my Elitebook for almost 5 years now. It currently runs Windows 10 Pro 64-bit with 16 GB of RAM. I'm still running on the installed Hitachi 500 GB HDD, but it's getting a little slow for my taste and I'm worried it might fail at any time. I've been hoping to replace the 500 GB HDD with a 500 GB SSD from Samsung by cloning it, then wipe the old HDD completely, and THEN replace the optical bay with a new 2nd HDD of some unspecified capacity. My problem now: I have about 300 GB's worth of data (went to an engineering school). I spoke to an HP rep on a live chat who told me that the largest supported capacity for an SSD (that can only be in the primary slot) is 256 GB and the largest supported capacity for an HDD in the replacement bay is 500 GB. Rather than move and link my entire USER's folder to the 2nd HDD (which is possible but still confusing for me at this point), I'd like to get a second opinion from someone in the HP community. Is the capacity limitation a matter of drive height? BIOS limitation? Is it still possible to get a 500 GB SSD instead? I've seen in various forums that the user had a larger drive than suggested. Thanks.

A:is there a way to increase the screen's resolution over the maximum capacity of win?

Your monitor performs best at its native resolution. You can play at resolutions lower than 1680x1050, but not above. However, the picture is still best at native. If by change you make the mistake of setting some game's resolution to more than 1680, you may soon find yourself in safe mode uninstalling drivers... besides, the 8400GS is a low end card that can barely handle 1680.

what is more important in RAMs , the maximum transfer rate or the capacity of RAM ?

what will be more effective ( fast) :

small capacity and high maximum transfer rate or

big capacity and low maximum transfer rate ?

A:maximum transfer rate of capacity is more important ? (RAMs)

if by maximum transfer rate you mean the MHz of bandwidth they are rated at (say 1600 mhz or 1333 mhz), then the higher that is the faster the ram is.

But really, above 1333 Mhz the speed difference doesn't translate in very noticeable performance gains, nor it does matter a lot for 99% of the applications or games you run.
In general, once you go past 8 GB of capacity and 1333 Mhz of speed, you won't notice unless you are running very specific programs or VMs.

There are no SATA cables in my system.

This info might also help:
I was just checking Maxtor Big Drive Enabler about which I had heard that it can be used with large hard disks. While installing, it gave me following error:
"Support is currently enabled for 48-bit Local Block Addressing (LBA) for ATAPI disk drives. You do not need to run this registry update. Click OK to exit."

Would be thankful if anyone could tell me about the maximum hard disk capacity my system can recognize..

I did a hard disk upgrade to my Dell Inspiron 5160 laptop myself. It was bought new in 2004. I read somewhere that the laptop might have a limitation with the maximum capacity of hard disk. So.. I went on to contact Dell tech support (I have extended warranty support still) and asked them what is the largest hard disk capacity I can upgrade to. I contacted them three times and I got conflicting replies from different persons who responded. Twice I was told that this model can support only upto 80GB and once I was told it can support much higher like 320GB.

However.. I went ahead and bought a 250GB one (Western Digitial Scorpio 2.5" IDE ) and installed it on the laptop and it is working just fine. It has been a month and I have not seen any problems.

Will there be a problem in the future in some way?

Guess what.. I took time to fill up the whole drive with some files and I did not notice a problems.

I have partitioned the disk into 80GB and 152GB partitions (Only 232GB was available out of marked 250GB).

A:L540 - upgrade i5 to i7 ?

The CPU is socketed, so you just need the CPU itself.

Hello to everyone. I own a L540 and I want  to do an upgrade. Specifically I want to add an SSD driver, add some extra RAM and I want to go in a FHD panel. When I bought the machine in my country available was only one model.  Since I am interesting do not loose the caranty, I want to make the upgrade in an official center. I bought the machine in Greece but now I am in Chile.  I can do the upgrade of the SSD and of the RAM but I do not know about the panel.  Any suggestions? I do not speak espanol so it is very difficult to find a technicial in chile from the website and discuss the issues.  Hence, if I will do the upgrade from an official center am I ok with the waranty? secondly can I sellect my parts? i.e. I want to SSD  Samsung PRO like that.  Are the service centers do upgrades? Thanks in advance.Bests,A.

Hello, I would like to know if from a reliability or performance point of view, it is better to add a 4GB memory stick to the existing 4GB or to replace them with a 8GB memory stick ? Tank you.

Hello,I have a ThinkPad L450, i5-4300M(2.6GHz) 8GB RAM 500GB 7200rpm HD 15in 1366x768 LCD.I am planning to replace the 8gb ram with 16gb. However, I am confused if my laptop will support 1866MHz or 1600MHz of RAM. Interestingly I am finding  16gb 1866MHz  RAM for a cheaper price. Will you please help me decide which one to go for? Here are the two links I am confused between https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B007B5S52C/ref=ox_sc_act_title_3?smid=A3DWYIK6Y9EEQB&psc=1 https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B00JCRZ6XS/ref=ox_sc_sfl_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A3DWYIK6Y9EEQB

A:RAM Upgrade for L540

Welcome to the forum!

According to the original specs you should use DDR3-12800 (1600) RAM source: link (click on the "Specifications" tab)

1866 RAM will probably work, but it will slow down to 1600 speeds. If I were you I would either play safe or make sure the vendor accepts returns in case it doesn't work.

Also avoid any "Value RAM" or "Value Select" modules, as well as any no-name brands.

I purchased an L540 with Windows 7 Professional pre-installed in 2014.  Currently I have version 6.1 (Build 7601 Service Pack 1), and am NOT having any technical issues.  However, my SquareTrade extended warranty expires soon (in October), and I have been wondering if I should upgrade to Windows 10 (probably along with the Classic Shell app).  Just browsing the forum, I see a number of posts that reflect various issues with upgrading to Windows 10, and can't really tell if those issues have been resolved by now.  I know that Microsoft plans to support Windows 7 Professional until January 2020, by which time by laptop will be 6 years old.  Any advice on whether it is worthwhile to upgrade and comments on the cost/difficulty of the process?
