Odd memory issue? HD space issue? Also, can't update GPU driver (GW2 crashing)

Q: Odd memory issue? HD space issue? Also, can't update GPU driver (GW2 crashing)

I posted the same on their tech support forum but I'm beginning to think the issue, while it may have been exacerbated by the game Guildwars 2, is likely on my end, but I have a number of suggestions, none of which has worked. Also tried my own stuff.

Anyway, here is what I posted on their own tech forum:
------

Having a lot of issues getting into gw2…I have bits and pieces of problems others have had in the past, but nothing seems to work, so I’m re-downloading the game, basically. All I want to do is play the freaking game, why does it have to be so much trouble?

Once in awhile I will get that blue and yellow graphical glitch on something. Just more info for diagnosis. If and when this happens, it’s always immediately apparent at character select. However…The biggest problem I have with GW2 is also on login – it either crashes or bluescreens my computer right after clicking play and the client tries to load for 5-10 seconds. For the past few days, 90% of the time it just crashes. If I try to patch after that point, the patcher stops at Downloading 0KB and will not budge from it. Not even to log in. I have to reboot my computer to get it past “Downloading 0KB”.

One post I found said that they started having all these problems after downloading a number of games on Steam (which I have done off and on due to a friend getting me a few gifts) , until their HD shrank down to 30 gigs. Same here, and the problem got worse around that same time frame. Since downloading Chivalry last week, which put me down to 29.5gigs, I’ve been crashing 4/5 times. However, after deleting Tera and Aion, then having around 80 gigs of space, I’m still having the same issue.

I tried updating my video card (nVidia’s 9800 GTX) driver, but for some reason it just continuously failed. So I tried a slightly older version. Failed. So I tried the oldest video card driver installer I could find in my folders – still failed. So I went and dug up the freaking basic driver CD installer that came with it. That worked. Tried updating drivers again – failed. again. So I had to run the CD, again.

I also tried restoring my computer to last week, prior to downloading Chivalry, prior to updating any drivers. That, too, failed. “Your system cannot be restored to this date and changes were reverted”, or something to that effect. Yes, I picked one of the ones it told me to pick.

Since running the CD for my oldest driver, my screen also flashes black initially after my desktop appears when booting my computer.
As an additional note – for the past few weeks whenever I want to get on GW2, it seems like it ABSOLUTELY HAS TO BE THE FIRST THING I DO PERIOD OR IT WILL CRASH.

However, if it’s the first thing, I can use my computer just fine as normal. But if I say, load up Google Chrome and surf for a minute at all…GW2 was guaranteed to crash. However, if I loaded GW2 first before absolutely anything else, it would ‘usually’ load (not always), and with the game still open, I could browse/do whatever with absolutely no issue at all.

I just want to play the game; anyone have any insight?

In addition, here is the information from the error/crash log of the game itself that may help with some insight.

As an additional note, until recently (I honestly don't know what could have changed this, but starting a few days ago), it used to, about 1/3rd of the time, cause a BSOD. But I could never get the error code because it would be gone from the screen more quickly than I could react for a cellphone picture, and I couldn't seem to find a log of the error code.
Further note, as it was mentioned that HD space may be relevant - my primary drive (which I don't really use for gaming at all anymore) was down to about 1.9 gigs of space, and this morning I freed up space and it's up to 7.91GB. As of last night my secondary (gaming) drive had 29GB, and I have since freed it up to around 72GB, then re-downloaded a second copy of the game and it's currently at 41.3GB.

In terms of history: this problem started in maybe early December, but was spotty, and got progressively more frequent over time. Each and every time it happened it was always immediately after clicking "play" on the launcher, and the game itself launched. It would render the frame of the window, with nothing in the window, process for anywhere between 10-20 seconds or so, then I would get the Arenanet crash prompt.

This would also occasionally cause a blue-screen, as opposed to receiving the Arenanet crash prompt. It started by only happening when I would need to re-log onto the game after long play sessions. But then it started to happen on the first launch of the game after turning on my computer.

In January it got steadily worse, and eventually my "makeshift" fix was basically that I had to launch Guildwars 2 before doing ANYTHING ELSE AT ALL on my PC. Period. No internet browsers, no music players, nothing. If I did this...about 2/3rds of the time, I would be able to get on without a crash and a need to subsequently reboot. If I did ANYTHING ELSE AT ALL, however, before launching the game, it would inevitably crash and I would have to reboot.
Now, the reason I would have to reboot is because that if I didn't, the patcher would simply get stuck at "Downloading 0KB at 0KB/S" and wouldn't budge, period. Didn't matter if I closed it and tried again. I also notice that once this error (with the patcher not processing) occurred, some odd behavior would occur. First, if I attempted to launch Google Chrome and google something - the browser page would "blue out" after typing in a search, rendering it useless. However, I could still use Google on other browsers - both Firefox and Internet Explorer.
Another odd behavior I noticed is that upon restarting, the UI behind the "Stand By", "Shut Down", and "Restart" buttons would not render. It would be a clear pane with a black border, the buttons to click, and the cancel button. No typical blue background behind any of it.

In February it got increasingly worse. My "fix" of making GW2 the first thing I launch was met with less success. IT would only work about 1/3rd of the time, meaning I had to reboot a few times to get the dang thing working. All the same problems, just more frequent.

In late February (a few days ago) a major patch hit and that very first day after the first patch...I thought everything was fixed. I didn't have to reboot all day, I didn't have a single crash, and was able to relog a grand total of five times with ZERO issue.
However, the following day, my first attempt to launch the game was a crash, and I had to reboot about five times before managing to get into the game. Didn't log off for most of the day - logged off once about 6PM PST, tried to log back on, got the same client crash, and had to reboot my computer. It took three reboots to get back on. But then it seemed normal again - was able to relog twice without issue. Then late that night I needed to relog again, and of course another client crash when I closed the application and tried to log back in. After about ten reboots, I was able to log back in, but had graphical errors - as described from my post on their forum above (yellow and cyan glitches). After that, to clear the issue, I tried to relog again, and after 20+ reboots, was unsuccessful in logging back on.

I then thought to update my graphics driver. I downloaded the most recent driver for my graphics card (nVidia 9800GTX+), 314.07. It failed, however, after seemingly having gone through the entire process. It would simply say that it failed to install. I then attempted to do a "clean install" - I uninstalled my previous driver using add/remove programs, then removing the one labeled "nVidia Graphics Driver" (might have been plural), and running the install again. Same thing happened - it failed.

I then tried to install the most recent one I had the installer for prior to driver 314.07, 310.90.
Failed again. I then tried the one that I was using before these issues started getting worse - 296.10. Also failed.
At this point it seemed NO INSTALLERS were going to work, so I went and dug up the CD that came with my video card and installed it. It told me more recent one had been installed (which struck me as extremely odd, as the installation had allegedly failed every time). I told it to overwrite whatever was present.

Attempted to launch the game again - crashed again at the same spot. Rendered the blue pane, processed, then met by the Arenanet crash prompt.

I then reseated all my memory sticks, cleared dust from my GPU's fan and tried again. Same thing, same place, met by the Arenanet crash prompt.

I rebooted, tried again, elevated the priority of the gw2.exe process to "realtime" and managed to log in. It was 4:30am, I thought I had found a solution, and went to bed.

I got up, did the same thing, and this time after elevating the priority to "realtime" - my PC froze where it normally would have been prompted by the Arenanet crash. My PC has not frozen in likely upwards of six months. Talking a hard freeze - no mouse movement, no activity - had to hold the power button to shut it off.

It was then suggested to me that my PC was attempting to page more memory on my primary drive than it had - so I disabled paging on my primary drive, and enabled it on my secondary drive, which has much more space.
Nothing - exact same issue.

I then decided to try and re-download the game, but to no avail. The exact same problem persisted.

At this point, I'm honestly not really sure what to make of this issue or what steps to take. I will see if I can make another post with some attached images of some of the relevant info.

Preferred Solution: Odd memory issue? HD space issue? Also, can't update GPU driver (GW2 crashing)

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

A: Odd memory issue? HD space issue? Also, can't update GPU driver (GW2 crashing)

Unfortunately, though I thought I did, I have no images of the odd cyan/yellow graphics glitch, and I have no way of getting one (google didn't turn up any that looked the same as mine, granted some were similar).

Edit - I also noticed after re-enabling page memory on my primary drive after freeing up some space, that in the error logs, the amount of paged memory in use is for some reason higher. I can't imagine why this is, but maybe I don't understand the process.

Hi there.

Bought a new PC last year, some specs: -
AMD Athlon 3000+ XP CPU
GA-7VM400AM(F) Motherboard
2 x 256MB Kingston DDR400 RAM

Basically, since installing everything, I noticed random crashings, blue screens, reboots etc. which made me think straight away that there was a problem with the memory.

I used goldmem to test the memory, these were my findings: -
- with both sticks of memory in, over 2000 errors came up.
- with stick number 1 in on its own, no errors
- with stick number 2 in on its own, no errors

this made me think that it was possible that a certain SLOT on the motherboard was faulty, so i tried the memory in both slots individually and no errors came up at all.

I've since been running the system with just one stick of memory, and no errors have occurred and everything is running smoothly.

Conclusion: only when BOTH STICKS of memory are running together, the computer crashes, reboots and freezes. Both sticks of memory test OK individually, but together they fail.

This memory was bought in a set, asin a "1of2" "2of2" type fashion. Can ANYONE shed some light on this? It's driving me insane!

Have had a driver problem for a while on my gateway desktop.....is there a way to identify a problem driver? My system crashes all the time because of it and I dont know how to resolve. I believe it is one of the drivers that Gateway supplied to me as this has been happening ever since I got the damn machine, but I have no way of knowing which one it is.

Hi and welcome to TSF! Open Device Manager (Hold Windows Key+Break, click hardware, click Device Manager)

Look for any yellow exclamation marks. Click on the entries that have the exclamation and report back here the error code status. If there are no driver conflicts in Device Manager, you may need to contact Gateway or get updated drivers

You didn't really give enough system specs but here is 3rd generation drivers, the top two depending on whether you are 32 or 64 bit. If you are 4th generation then you need HD 4600 drivers.

I was getting lots of BSODs and THEN I started updating drivers. Seemed to get better, then got much worse. Please help to tell me which driver(s) are causing my issue. Note I was also getting a BSOD for another reason that escapes me right now - hopefully in one of the many crash logs.

I NEVER have been able to install SP1 on this machine. When I complained to HP when it was still under warranty, they said I did not need it. I have many many items from HP. NO MORE. This machine has been plagued with issues since I got it and their version of tech support is a joke. HP replaced the MB under warranty.

Ok I'm having 2 issues, and I'm not quite sure what exactly is going on.

First issue: Drivers.
Everytime I install the new drivers off Nvidia's website and reboot I get stuck in 4bit mode. I can't change my display settings or anything, the only way to fix this is to rollback the drivers. I've tried uninstalling my current drivers (the one that came with the card) and installing the new ones in safe mode. No luck. I've tried Omega drivers too. That just makes my screen look like what would happen if you were to bump a Super Nintendo or Sega and get all those pretty colors on the screen. Can't even do nothing.
Second Issue: BSOD while playing World of Warcraft
This has happened a few times while I was playing WoW. I don't have a exact quote of the error but I do know it says something about a memory dump. A minute or so passes and it restarts. I'm assuming it's driver related, but I can't get any drivers to install. They are the exact drivers that I'm suppose to download. Not quite sure how to fix this when I'm having that driver issue.

Maybe the card is going bad? I've had it for about 1.5 year. It's an AGP one.

Any help would be great.

Edit 2: I have the 4bit problem on SP2 as well.

Test your RAM using memtest86 (Google for it). Run it on each individual stick for as long as possible (preferably overnight). Any errors will show bad RAM.
As for your video drivers, get Driver Cleaner Pro (Google again) and use it to remove all traces of the old drivers. Then try installing the new ones.

I'm a little puzzled, there is really nothing to install. It is simply detected and that should be it, you shouldn't hear a squeak out of Windows. When Windows says it cannot install the drivers for the device, does it identify the device?

What version of XP is installed on the computer?

Run services.msc and ensure the "shell hardware detection" service is set to automatic

Also check that "Plug and Play" is set to automatic as well.

My issue seems to be a common one but after several suggestions and tips I'm still getting a warning message when I restart my computer. The message reads:

The Catalyst Control Center is not supported by tthe driver version of your enabled graphics adapter. Please update your ATI graphics driver, or enable your ATI adapter using the Displays Manager.

What I've tried already was enabling the adapter in the display/device manager, and I saw in another thread to use the MMDotNETSetup mod in the install process of the new driver. I followed the steps from here http://www.hardwareheaven.com/modtool.php yet my problem still exists. I even made sure the UAC was turned off.

Can any one help me, and tell me what I'm missing, I'd be extremely greatfull if this can be fixed ^_^

I've done a dskcheck, 8parse memtest, updated drivers to the best of my knowledge, made sure that all the BIOS is on default settings just in case something was accidentally overclocked and come to no fruition. Hi

Installed Win7x32 on an old P4 machine with an Radeon 9800Pro graphics card. When installing windows the auto install detects and installs the relevant device drivers.

All works good with the auto install driver.

When downloading the latest applicable ATI driver from their website the system runs but the display is crashed.

The system appears to be working but the screen appears multicoloured horizontal coloured stripes making visuals undetectable (Almost like the old colour bars when a Spectrum would be loading software). It almost looks like the graphics card is faulty. On reboot the dos bios screens are fine, then half way through the windows logo (agp440 phase of boot) the system resets.

Unfortunately after the ATI driver is installed I cant access the system even in safe mode (see the agp440 command line crash).

On reinstalling w7 and averting the ati driver install just letting windows do it on its own its fine.

Obviously I dont need the latest ati website driver but I am concerned that windows update will eventually update the driver with the full driver rather than compnent drivers.

Any others had issues with this in the past and suggestions welcome.

How can I ensure the ati driver only gets the basic update as its not my pc and I dont want the user to experience the issue with the driver install.

Are there known issues with the newer ATI drivers with older P4 systems please?

Thanks as usual

A:ATI Driver issue -> Windows Update vs ATI Download

Generally, the drivers from the vendor, such as AMD/ATI are the latest ones and usually work best. The drivers from Windows update are usually a couple of versions behind due to Microsoft's validation procedure (I've seen the "latest" from Windows update in one case to be over a year old and have problems that were fixed in later versions by the vendor).

There are driver versions that cause certain problems, in certain configurations.

Many updates, however, are to fix specific problems and many game related.

But, because its validated by Microsoft does not mean its a better driver.

I have a 2 week old Yoga 910. I have recently allowed it to do a driver update through the 'Lenovo Companion' program. After restart I now find that I have continuous (>10mins) high CPU usage (>30%).  After investigating Windows Task Manager I note: "TODO: <File Description> (32 bit)" with subgroup "Qualcom Atheros WLAN Driver Service" is the culprit using >30% CPU.  As mentioned... this runs continuously. The problem driver is Liteon WLAN Driver - 10[64] V.12.0.0.278. I'm not sure why it shows under "TODO: <File Description> (32 bit)"... I have not seen this before... If someone could explain what "TODO: <File Description> (32 bit)" is that would be appreciated. Uninstalling this driver rectifies the problem.  Using repair mode on the installer package does not fix it.  Re-installing this driver causes the issue again.  This driver update appears to be broken.  Please rectify.

The computer's a year old, running XP, and my boyfriend and I have no idea what's wrong with it (it's his). I'd put in hardware support but I don't know which piece of hardware may be corrupted, exploding as we speak, or what.

It began last night. He's done this before -- he has two monitors, one meant for a TV (I believe) and another old computer screen. Normally it runs on the TV one because it's bigger. He switched to the older one to show me how he can adjust the settings so that it's all vertical. That was great and dandy and we didn't expect any issues. He's done it before and it really isn't doing much to the computer.

Later, after midnight, he goes to switch everything back to normal. First, the computer acts like the monitor is there but that it can't do anything -- it tries to go into sleep mode or something. Then I suggest he unplug, shut down, plug things back in normally, and power back up. This appears to work.

I was a bit happy then, until we got to the XP loading screen. It's going... and then after, it flashes, then goes black. Nothing comes up, nothing does anything.

And so the three hour saga of last night begins. We restart, we spam F8, we get into safe mode, he disables Nvidia but can't open the application. Nor does his mouse function in safe mode (I know some don't, but it really doesn't help the situation). I've used my laptop to bring up shortcut keys and we're functioning through everything that way. He restarts after disabling Nvidia, an... Read more

Good day!

After installing the latest update for Windows 10 (Version 1607, OS Build 14393.222), the screen just went black! I noticed that I'm already logining in windows from the light of the fingerprint but I couldn't see anything on screen.

I tired to format everyting in the PC and reinstall Windows back again through entering the Recovery Screen. I was able to get the screen back but this time the brightness was full and I couldn't change the level of it. I did some search about this issue and then I manually update the display adapter (Intel HD Graphics 520) from the device manager. After this update the screen went off again!
I then tried to reinstall windows again and I connect my laptop to HDMI port. I was able to view everyhing in the extended screen but when I project to the PC screen I don't get anything.

I disabled the Intel HD Graphics 520 driver and by doing so I was able to see the screen back in PC. So it seems it's a driver issue. I tried to uninstall the driver and reinstall it again with the lateset version (Version 21.20.16.4505) but when I enable it the screen goes black again.

Now the display adapter is disabled and I can't change anything in the screen settings or control the brightness. What is the solution?
Also the screen goes black while browsing some sites with malicious content.Yesterday was going through a site
 I encountered black screen.

Microsoft released yesterday a Windows update to fix driver issues with USB devices introduced in the February 2018 Patch Tuesday security updates.

More precisely, Microsoft has released KB4090913 to address bugs introduced by KB4074588. The update is for Windows 10 Fall Creators Update users only ?Windows 10 version 1709.

The update is available via the built-in Windows Update mechanism, so users only have to go to the Windows Update settings panel and start a scan for new updates.

If for any reasons the update doesn't show up, users can manually download and install the proper package from the Microsoft Update Catalog portal, here.

Microsoft describes KB4090913 as follows:

Addresses an issue in which some USB devices and onboard devices, such as a built-in laptop camera, keyboard, or mouse, stop working. This may occur when the Windows Update servicing stack incorrectly skips installing the newer version of some critical drivers in the cumulative update and uninstalls the currently active drivers during maintenance.
This is nowhere near the first time that a Windows update broke local drivers. Windows users are already used to the dance of death when it comes to Windows updates, and many have at least once in their lifetime dealt with a broken update that crashed computers into BSOD screens or broken apps or OS features.Click to expand...

After some research I managed to reinstall Vista on the laptop. Harder than it sounds for a novice! Couldn't boot in safe mode or anything else..

I've reinstalled it as normal, although it gave me the option of two partitions. I opted for the larger one which also has OS written somewhere in a little box. About a year ago, I had to system restore, because my computer just kept FSODing on me. When I went through the system restore process with Dell, at the end of the process I got an error. I don't quite remember what it was, as it was so long ago.

Ever since then, my computer has been completely without sound. I have tried everything from installing/reinstalling/uninstalling drivers, to the most simplistic, such as checking if my speakers work, or are connected.

So far, nothing has brought me any closer to figuring out what this problem could be. I am pretty sure that somehow, my sound card (its an integrated one) has just fried or something, but I really dont know.

So... is my sound card busted? Or are my drivers just not working for some reason?

Thanks for your help in advance.

A:Sound Card issue, or driver issue?

System restore . . .

System restore or system recovery? Did wipe the old operating system out and reinstall everything from scratch (system recovery) or did you use Windows' system restore to backdate the configuration. (Frankly, I think the choice these of terms by the industry are very confusing.)

Assuming system recovery and assuming the sound worked before and quit after system recovery, I'm for a misconfiguration. But, the simpler fix might be a cheap add-in sound card.

Hi all. I'm not sure where to start with this issue, it's bit spread out but it all started while I was gaming and the game froze and then the computer crashed. The freezing happened every once in a while, but the crashing had never happened. During the restart I see this...
And then when windows tried to start up, I got a blue screen and then it rebooted once again.
Determining that this was an issue with the bios, I resetted the CMOS. No change. So I flashed the bios with the newest update. Again, no change. I was able to boot my computer in safe mode with no issue though. So I figured it must be a driver issue. I started by removing my graphics driver for my 8800GT and rebooted. It was able to start up Windows fine, but the stuff in that image above still occured. I then tried to install the drivers located on the NVIDIA website instead of using Window's driver. But I got a message saying that I'm not using Windows 7 or Vista and as such I cannot install (but I am using Windows 7 Pro). So I tried using the Window's auto driver install and when I restart, I am unable to load Windows normally. So I'm really puzzled now because right now I believe it's a driver issue, but I can't install any other driver than the one Window's installs. Also if I am able to get a driver installed, how would it relate to the above image? Thanks for any help, and if more information is needed please let me know.

Hi Techguys

There's uncommon problem been going on with close to be retirement PC as I've did few updates earlier as I rarely used till I need it.

When I turn on the PC since long time and its running as normal and Windows has informed that updates are available for update so I agreed on all update and close down. When next time I load the computer the POST and windows logo booting as normal but after that the resolution of screen looks quite standard than I expected and my keyboard and mouse were unresponsive. I decided to go in Safe Mode and sometimes that failed as same result and after few attempts, it would got in me through. I restored PC back to before update and its running fine till update comes on. Accepted it and its starting doing the same resolution and keyboard / mouse being unresponsive.

This time I have decided to shut the PSU for few sec like 3 second then turn on and then press power button and the PC runs fine, This has been going for few time but now it seems to be back to normal. Im unsure if my computer has this problem ongoing as I plan to put this PC in resignation and setting as KMV switch and using my new built up PC but have concerns for my old PC which is over 10 years but still ongoing and healthy with regularly service same as the cars. (change CPU/Heatsink glue) and keeping dustfree and reguarly maintaining. The Malwarebytes Anti-malware come out all clear.

Any suggestion?

Yesterday i installed a new motherboard, cpu and ram. All of which are compatible with each other. I run a 1050 ti and a intel i5 9400F, 16gb ram on a 500w cooler master power supply. GPU and and PSU are about 1 year old. I only got these problems after installing the new motherboard, cpu and ram. I had no problems booting the pc and it seemed like everything worked fine. I installed some of the drivers (some may be missing im not 100% sure if i did all of them correctly), but most should be correct.

I first noticed the crashings as i launched cs go, discord and firefox at the same time. (within 2-3 minutes of each other). Opening some apps made the others crash and sometimes loop. Discord would shut down and start back up, cs:go would just shut down along with steam. And firefox tabs would also crash saying something like "oops we've ran into a problem, try refreshing".

I feel like if this was a hardware problem my pc wouldnt boot or any indicator lamps on my motherboard would light up but only SB_PWR lamp is lighting up. I quickly googled it and its supposed to just show that power is on and connecting to the motherboard.

If any more infiormation is needed please ask ill try to answer as well as i can. Hope anyone is able to help <3

Edit: All fans inside the pc are running, everything seems like it is working, but some apps just shut down randomly. Sorta suffocates

Hey, I recently put together a PC and I've been having problems with it since. When I initially built it, the specs were:

i7 920 2.67GHz
Asus p6t Motherboard
8gb RAM
500gb Sata II HD
ATI Radeon HD 3870x2 (the card with with 2 GPU's)
500W unbranded PSU
1 added 120m coolermaster fan

Shortly after I started using my PC there was a power surge that knocked the power supply out. I recently got a new power supply. A 650W Silverstone PSU that I thought was more than enough for this. The problem that would occur now is that the computer would restart during games and sometimes while processing/rendering videos in adobe premiere.

When I would enable the 'crossfire' option on my card (to enable both GPU's to work) the computer would no longer just 'restart' the entire screen would hang or the colours would go out of sync shortly after which I'd have to restart the computer. This having happened I assumed the problem was with the graphics card, not the new 650W silverstone I got. I upgraded to a newer card; Asus Nvidia Geforce GTX460 768mb. The specs are now as follows:

i7 920 2.67GHz
Asus p6t Motherboard
8gb RAM
500gb Sata II HD
Asus Nvidia Geforce GTX460 768mb
650W silverstone PSU
1 added 120m coolermaster fan

After upgrading, games like modern warfare 2 will restart in missions that has a lot of smoke, during a standard windows assessment process the computer will also restart.

There is no overheating issue, the te... Read more

A:PC restart during graphic-intensive tasks. PSU issue? GPU issue? Mobo issue?

You've got Asus motherboard, hence the first thing I'll look at considering the issues you are having, is at RAM settings/voltage in the board's BIOS, these should be exactly the same as on RAM packaging, but even that doesn't guarantee that it may not be the issue, so basically you'll need to fiddle around a bit with settings/voltage in case default specs doesn't work.

You may also consider stress testing your graphic card using OCCT (including vRam). Regards

Just installed a 1TB drive I had and after formatting it (Non quick method) it shows 929GB free of 931GB. Within Storage it says 1.60GB used out of 931GB but opening the drive using explorer it's empty. This is with the options set to show folders/files enabled for the drive.

Clicking on the drive within storage shows under 'System & Reserved' 1.60GB used. Hibernation and System restore is off for all drives except C: and I've made sure there are no shadow copies on all but C:

This normal?

I have an Asus All in One Desktop ET2410 IUTS BO34C.
It is divided into C drive and D drive.
My C drive has 13.6 available out of 79.9 GB
My D drive has 242 GB available out of 365 GB

I tried installing Windows 8 but it needs 20 GB of space in my C Drive. All currently installed programs only make up 1.97 GB.

Can I install Windows 8 on this computer?

A:Win 8 HD space issue

I have several options:
1.I can do a system recovery and reformat my computer into one single HD. Reinstalling my current system and then upgrading it to Win 8.

2. I can use Easy BCD and build a dual boot machine. First putting Win 7 on my D drive and then installing Win 8 onto that drive. Win 8 is upgrading Win 7.

Suggestions?

Hi All,

I'm using windows 10 Home with HDD capacity of 1 TB. Recently I installed one third party software named Privacy Drive with an intention to lock some of my important files. After installation of the application, it created a new drive (50GB) out of C drive. Later on, I uninstalled the said app but my C drive has not been restored with that 50 GB space.

Now my C drive is almost full. I also used system restore but C drive space (50GB) used by that app not recovered . Please help.

I've been using my laptop for a few months and listened to occassional music through the Bang & Olufsen speakers with Conexant SmartAudio HD. Just recently, I realized that the audio levels from the speakers fluctuated severely during music playback.  I thought that this was due to oudated drivers so I went and downloaded audio drivers for version 1607 and a few other version 1607 drivers from HP's website for my specific model.  Immediately after the installations and a restart, audio failed to play and upon entering volume settings, there was an audio diagnostic which fixed the audio. But after restarting, this process happened 2 more times until it finally calmed down and there were no further issues/diagnostics. (I forgot to screenshot what was being fixed during the audio diagnostic) However, I realized that Bang & Olufsen audio control could not be accessed even though the original application location was fine. Furthermore,  I noticed that the audio became unstable with jumps in audio levels, but only once in a while.  And finally I don't know if this program is from HP or not but every time I turn on my laptop, a pop-up tells me there is an issue with Flow and that Flow will now shutdown.  I really don't understand what is going on. Maybe there is a driver conflict but I don't know why that will affect Flow.Apparently an issue with Conexant SmartAudio HD can be fixed by running msconfig.exe and headin... Read more

This is very strange.

I noticed this morning that my C:\ drive has only 9.38 GB of free space. I thought, "That can't be right." So, in checking the properties of every folder on the C:\ drive, and adding up the total amount of each folder, I came up with a grand total of 129.98 GB of files in the drive. This is a 230 GB drive. It is not partitioned. There's 100.02 GB of space that is unaccounted for. Has anyone ever run into this before? I've never seen anything like this...
