Lenovo y50 trackpad

Q: Lenovo y50 trackpad

Hello, I am encountering problems with my trackpad on my y50 laptop. Specifically, the trackpad will not register click and drag gestures. I am wondering: 1) Is there a software fix? -although all my drivers are up-to-date2) Must I get a replacement part? -although my laptop is out of warranty 3) If so, is 5CB0F78866 the correct part? 4) How do I order this part? Any information would be much appreciated. Thanks!

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

I agree completely. The trackpad is not so good. A way to reprogram it to disable/remap the secondary button would be great.

Hi all, I just fixed my y510p from video artifacts due to a loose video cable connection, but when I put everything back together, my trackpad no longer works, and in device manager, I had an unknown device listed that was not there before. Anyone else had this problem, or have any ideas on how to fix it? I thought it may have been a cable that came loose when I was taking the computer apart, but I checked the connections to the trackpad and they're all good. Still not working though. Thanks in advance!

I would like to change the scrolling speed of my lenovo yoga 910 but the only settings I see are the tracpad gestures and mouse settings in mouse and tracpad settings. This looks like a windows 10 issue but some other laptops have additional settings for trackpad and I would like to know they exist for this ultrabook. I also wonder if I can configure the trackpad gestures. For example I want to add/configure the dragging gesture from double-tap to three finger tap and drag. It seems that you can only turn them on/off. Again, this seems to be a windows 10 issue but any help is appreciated.

After a Window's update, my trackpad stopped working. After searches online for how to fix the issue, I noticed that the trackpad was completely unistalled from my computer (vs. just being disabled). I went to the Lenovo website and re-downloaded the driver, which fixed the issue..... for a few weeks. Now my trackpad stopped working again (randomly mid use...I had not restarted my computer or anything), with no further windows updates occuring. I looked and it is once again, unistalled. I tried to download the driver again, but it didn't fix the issue this time. How do I get my trackpad back installed and working?

So I booted my PC after an update the other morning and the keyboard and trackpad weren't working. I tested the brightness keys on my keyboard and they still worked so it couldn't be a hardware issue there, and my mouse still worked so it was just the trackpad that had something wrong with it. The trackpad has a driver error (code 10) but the keyboard says it's working correctly. Here's what I've tried in hopes to resolve the issues so far: -Reinstalling trackpad drivers -Uninstalling both trackpad and keyboard drivers then restarting -System Restore -Chkdsk on both drives -A trick I read on these forums where you flip the device into tent mode, then after a few seconds flip it back round to laptop mode. I am utterly confused as to what's wrong here as nothing has even slightly helped my problem. Any help?

The trackpad might break me here... it's absolutely terrible if you're the kind of user that likes to use single finger click and two finger right click exclusively. You can set it up for this behaviour but it basically disables the entire bottom third of the trackpad.

Are there tactile click locations for left and right click in the bottom corners?  Or is it totally "tap" sensing?  Mine shipped out yesterday and this was one of my concerns.  Another option that just went on sale, the ThinkPad X1 Tablet, has dedicated buttons like a traditional ThinkPad.  It's much pricier for the same hardware, though, and I like the Yoga flexibility compared to a Surface type setup.

Hello. I have had my Ideapad 300 for several months now and I really love it except for one thing, the trackpad. Due to where my hand and fingers naturally sit, there is a spot on the trackpad that shows a little more wear than the area around it. In this picture ( http://imgur.com/bJovhqL ), you can see that there is an oval shaped region that looks a little different. The problem I am having is that several times a day (up to several times per hour), the trackpad goes nuts.  It doesn'ttrack my finger correctly and performs multi-finger actions even though I'm just using one finger.  It jitters around the screen if I try to use it, and I just have to wait for it to self-correct by staying off of it for up to 30 seconds.  If I look at the trackpad icon on the bottom right of the taskbar while it's messing up, the trackpad is registering multiple fingers. I'll use one finger, and the icon will display 1 finger, 2 fingers, 3 fingers, 1, 2, 1, 3, 4, etc.  Like I said, I just have to wait it out for it to go away.  And on one occasion, I noticed that even if I hovered my finger above the trackpad without actually touching it, it would still register fingers, like it was being super super sensitive or something. I've tried everything reasonable to fix it, tweaking the settings, uninstalling and reinstalling the trackpad, updating the drivers, using the OEM drivers, and nothing works.  It's getting very annoying, and ... I got my Lenovo Yoga 710 in the summer of 2016, and everything works great except for the inactive scrolling. The inactive scrolling only works when I have an external mouse attached to my laptop, in which I am able to type in one window while scrolling in another window that's inactive. However, the inactive scrolling doesn't seem to work when I am using my trackpad and not an external mouse. I have updated all of my drivers, but I just don't understand why the feature would work only with the external mouse and not the trackpad. It is rather inconvenient to carry around an external mouse when the trackpad is supposed to do the job. I am coming from a Macbook Pro and I really miss the inactive scrolling that it provided.  I would really appreciate it if someone could please help me. Thanks! P.S. I do not have any third party software installed and the inactive scrolling feature is "enabled."

Hello There is a feature in Lenovo Ideapad 310 which is being annoying to me: the trackpad is deactivated when I press a key in the keyboard. How this can be configured on Xubuntu 16.04, Ubuntu Mate 16.04 and on Asus M2400Ne with a Synaptics device, looks like this is solely a software issue, but I was not able to find where is this configuration on Windows 10. The Windows 10 options in Configurations-> Devices-> Mouse and Touchpad had no effect, even the option to delay the time between I use the keyboard and click was not effective. Control Panel -> Hardware and Sound -> Mouse had no option to change this too. I have searched and found this topic, but I am seriously concerned regarding messing with Windows registries. I do not want to change registries I do not know because I need the capability to boot the computer after this. I tried to find the registries cited on that topic, but could not find them. Is there a option somewhere which I can deactivate this behaviour? All drivers are updated using the System Update program that came installed on the computer. Windows 10 is updated too. Thank you.

I recently bought a Lenovo ThinkPad L380 directly from Lenovo. Is a solid laptop with great specs and battery life, however the trackpad starts skipping, feels unresponsive and jitters. This happens consistently and on every time I use the laptop from more than 5-10 minutes.I've tried all of the following with no solution:1. Reinstalling drivers from Lenovo site2. Changing charger cable (this was recorded actually in battery power, so happens both connected and not connected to power)3. Disconnecting the battery and reconnecting it again.4. Powering off the laptop, holding the power button for 60 seconds then powering it back again.5. Changing the settings for sensitivity6. Disabling the track-pointI was wondering what would cause that and if I should just return the laptop and get another one with a non-defective trackpad.

My brand-new P50 laptop was behaving as though the left trackpad button was sticking. When single-tapping the left trackpad button, it would behave as though the "click n' drag" setting was enabled: the trackpad would override the keyboard, preventing me from typing until either the trackpad was moved again or the button was clicked again.  I work for Microsoft and have always used Lenovo products without ever having encountered an issue before, so I was more than a little surprised. I called Lenovo support, and they were less than helpful. In the end, they suggested that the trackpad itself was defective. The laptop was orvernighted to the repair depot in the southeast. Naturally, there was a three-week wait for parts - despite this being a model currently in production. Finally, after causing a stink (this is, after all, my primary work machine), a helpful support tech located parts at another facility. Another week later, and my laptop was back - with the SAME problem continuing to surface. This time I dug deeper, looking into the various trackpad settings, tweaking the various "accidental interrupt" delay settings, verifying that the "click to drag" feature was disabled, and running various diagnostics on the trackpad itself. The one interesting thing I noted was that the button-stickiness only seemed to happen in applications (IE, Word, etc.) - the button "stickiness" didn't happen when scrolling through Windows... Since you have to hunt around different Lenovo sites (and other sites) to find out about these softwares, I decided to make a post to get feedback from actual Yoga owners on how these programs interact, what they do, which ones are prerequisite, and which ones are unnecessary. Please don't take this as a blanket answer. This is just what I have found. It might be right - it might be wrong. I'm looking for others to post their experiences as well. Lenovo System Interface Foundation Driver - Necessary prerequisite (missing driver in device manager without it). It allows the Lenovo Utility and Lenovo Companion to work. Lenovo Yoga Mode Control - Necessary if you want to use your yoga to seemlessly change between all the different modes (laptop, tablet, tent, stand). This software is responsible for autorotating and putting Windows into tablet mode. Lenovo Utility - Recommended(?) This one I'm not too sure on. I remember that I was missing some function that I wanted but I can't remember what it was now. Maybe battery cycle count and health? Lenovo Companion - I don't have this one installed and don't think it's necessary but would like someone else to shed some light here.

Hello,
I just bought a refurbished Asus S56C (running windows 8) to use at work at although the trackpad works, it is not very pleasant.
I have adjusted the settings as much to my liking as possible but the vertical scrolling is jerky and it often misses the two finger tap for 'right click' gesture.
The current driver is up to date, I read that some Asus use Elan and some Synaptics trackpad software but mine just seems to be signed as Asus. I've attached a screenshot of the driver details as they are now.
Is it possible to download a better driver that would make the trackpad a bit more user friendly?
Thanks very much

Look for/use the latest version provided by Asus.

The only recommended place to get laptop drivers is from the manufacturer.

Hello!  I bought this device just yesterday evening, and in about 12 hours usage I have had this problem about 3 times: 1) The trackpad slows down2) Next, it'll apparently start detecting the wrong gestures, like multifingered gestures when I use only one finger, or the inverse, or else it starts clicking when I'm not putting on much pressure, etc.3) Finally - and this is the worst part - the trackpad stops detecting pressure in about 60% of it's central area...4) I restart the system and everything is perfect again for a while. What should I do? Should I return the product? I already searched for updates in the software, but everything was fine and up to date. Thanks for your time!

I use a y50-70,  model 20378, I'm running Windows 10 and all my drivers are up-to-date (I have installed the most recent trackpad drivers through the Windows 10 auto-detect drivers feature, and I have installed them directly from the Lenovo website). Sometimes, when I open up the computer, the trackpad is disabled without explanation. When I go to Mouse settings I receive this notification "Unable to connect to the Synaptics Pointing Device Driver. If you have installed another PS/2 Pointing Device Driver please uninstall the Synaptics driver by clicking on the Yes button. You then need to reinstall your pointing device driver for your external device again. Do you want to uninstall the Synpatics driver now?"I have done this several times, and the fix is never permanent. I click yes to have the Synpatics driver uninstalled, then I remove and reinsert my USB mouse (logitech M545) and wait for that driver to be reinstalled. I then reinstall my the Synaptics driver and restart my computer. Everything works fine. However, the next time I put my computer to sleep/standby/power off, I have to go through this song-and-dance again if I want my trackpad to work. This has happened several times. My trackpad only works if the driver has just been installed, and the computer just restarted. If I turn off, then turn on the computer, WITHOUT installing the trackpad driver, the trackpad doesn't work.
