I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I just received my X1C7 laptop, I wanted to use it for monitoring purpose. I want to have at least 4 monitors connected (including the laptop monitor), for that, I have bought a Lenovo Powered USB-C Travel Hub which has HDMI/VGA/USB2/USB3/RJ45. This gives me two HDMI. This is what I have connected: to the HDMI of the laptop a Dell P2217H screen.to USB-C the Asus MB16AC screento USB-C  the Lenovo Powered USB-C Travel Hub HDMII can get those 3 monitors working together: Laptop monitorUSB-C Asus MB16AC screenUSB-C HDMI OR USB-C Lenovo Powered USB-C Travel Hub HDMII am not able to use both HDMI and the USB-C together but if I unplug the USB-C screen, I am now able to use two HDMI signal together.  I am on Linux dka 4.19.0-6-amd64 #1 SMP Debian 4.19.67-2+deb10u1 (2019-09-20) x86_64 GNU/Linux How can I get two HDMI + USB-C monitors working at the same time? My bet is that this laptop does not support 2 HDMI monitor + 1 USB-C Monitor. I haven't tried on windows but is that even working on Windows?I have another USB3 screen Asus MB168B+. It uses DisplayLink driver, it does not have official support for Debian but theoretically, could it work as an extra screen considering I can't use (yet) two HDMI + 1 USB-C screen together.

Feel like an idiot asking this, but I'm setting up a new z240 workstation & monitor. The monitor came with an HDMI cable. It plugs into the monitor securely with ease. I just can't get the other end to plug into the tower.Am I overlooking something obvious? The plug is in the correct port, connections matching. It just wont click in & I'm afraid of forcing it and damaging the connections.

I recently upgraded my board and processor from a pentium 450 to an AMD while keeping my drives. I am operating on windows 98se. My new board has built in onboard 64 meg graphics while my old system had on board 8 meg. My problem is, I cannot change the monitor settings. It is set at 16 colors and 640x480 res. I have only two color selections available, 2 and 16.
I have tried various bios changes, driver updates, reinstalling windows and also deleting the device and rebooting.

Any Ideas?

Hi, when I was studying abroad, I was using a Samsung B2330 LCD monitor with the system which specs I have mentioned below. I have an HDMI cable that I used with that monitor and it worked like a breeze no problems. I even connected my PS3 to the same monitor but with a separate cable and that worked with no problems as well.

When I went back home I took the PC but I left the monitor behind. That's because I have the exact same model monitor at home. I connected my PC to the home monitor with HDMI but it doesn't display anything at all. The same problem with the DVI cable (To be honest I never used the DVI cable with the monitor abroad). I do get signal from the RGB cable without fail. Oh yeah, I also use the same HDMI cable I used abroad. At first I thought it was the cable's fault but I get the same result with 2 other HDMI cables as well. Plus all 3 HDMI cables work fine with my PS3, which also doesn't work with the home monitor. Now it cant be the monitor's HDMI port fault because my brother plays his XBOX360 on the same monitor through HDMI without problems.

The main problem is i'm not getting signals from both HDMI and DVI even though all my drivers are up to date. It cannot be the computer's HDMI port fault as well because it works when I connect it to my 40" Samsung LCD TV. I did not change the configuration of my PC at all from when I came back home and when I was abroad. Please help. Thank you.

A:Problem with HDMI and DVI on my monitor.

I'm probably wrong but what pops in my mind is Regions.
DVD's and DVD players are broken down into Regions of the World
a region 3 DVD wont play on a Region 1 DVD player.
when you install Windows it ask you what language and region/type keyboard setup to use.
can your PC and Monitor be fighting with each other since they come from different countries.

side note when I upgraded my 42 inch LCD Tv to HDMI cable---finally got a cable tv box that had a HDMI port.
I ran into issues with digital Content Protection my tv is older than my new cable tv box.
LCD TV put up warning that digital Content Protection wasn't detected
my HDMI cable works but not sure at what speed it running at.
cable tv provider told me to go back to using AV cable, but I stuck with HDMI.
cant really tell difference.

I have a laptop with a n hdmi port and i just got an ACER 23" 1080P monitor, H233H and my graphics is set to display 1080 X 1920 but it only takes up most of the screen. If I change it to a lower setting like 1400 x 900, then it takes up the entire screen. could this be an hdmi cable issue? the monitor came with an hdmi cable but i can assume it's probably the old hdmi 1.0 standard. i have a 1.3 cable but i don't want to open it unless that IS the problem.

Ive got a Radeo 2900pro 1gb HD Graphic Card.

Before i changed my tv i used to have my 19" monitor and my 32" LCD Tv display the same thing at the same time. I recently swapped my tv so another 32" tv both made by JVC. Ive plugged it all in and then used the ATI Catalyst Control Centre to set it up to how it was before. While using it to set it up it detects both monitors but when i finish the setup to clone the display to both nothing comes up on the tv, ive tried both HDMI ports on the tv but still nothing. If the computer detects its plugged in then why it not working. Any ideas i'll try asap and let you all know what the outcome is.

For a long time I have used a multiple monitor with a hdmi cable. A TV in my room, so i can watch movies from my computer on the TV. I also set the TV-monitor to default sound device so the sound would come from the TV and not the PC speakers.

Suddenly it just stopped working... So i first tried changing the hdmi cable without any luck.

- then i tried connecting my xbox 360 to the TV to check if the input to the tv was broken. but it worked perfectly.
- then i tried connecting the pc to my pc screen with hdmi to see if the hdmi output was broken. this worked perfectly.
- then i got a new TV and it worked ok, but with minor problems..

there are 2 problems

1. When i only have the desktop showing the screen is perfectly still.. but when i watch a movie there is a little flickering on the screen...

2. When using the tv as default playback device for sound it goes on it of... for example when listening to music the music plays for 20 seconds, then stops for a second or two.. then repeat...

Anyone know what the problem might be? some settings probably? i kinda spend most of my spare time watching film on the tv... but this problem keeps stopping me... :-(

hope someone has a good answer for me.. and please write in a language i understand (im not a computer expert)

Well I have been having issues with my monitor. I'll give you a bit of what is going on. I had a Toshiba laptop I had hooked up to my monitor, everything worked great. It then crashed, I got a new Dell with Windows 8 64bit and Intel graphics. I have an HDMI to VGA adapter cause my laptop doesn't have a VGA port and monitor doesn't have HDMI. So I hook it up and get it to work but "Input Not Supported" was floating around the screen. So I changed the resolution. The only resolution that makes the "Input Not Supported" to go away is 1600X200. Well its clear picture but I have the annoying black bars on the side of my screen. I have looked around and everyone says to go to the CCC but I can't find it on here and from what I understand that is for AMD only(if I'm mistaken please explain to me how to make it work cause I have attempted it). So is there an Intel version or how do I fix it?

Oftenly, I was using my y700 with an external LG monitor conneted via HDMI cable. Sometimes the signal was lost for a few second when I accidentely touched or moved the cable, but I thought it was the cable's fault. The problem reappeared with an increasing frequency until yesterday when the signal was completely lost and I coulnd't bring it back. Today I managed to have an image for a few seconds until I adjusted the cable and it went blank again. So I tried a different HDMI cable, but it didn't helped. I also connected the monitor to my old PC and it was working fine with both cables. I tried to reinstall the Intel drivers, but it didn't helped. Both device menager and the Intel control panel are detecting the monitor and the monitor itself doesnt seem to be in the saving mode either, however, there is no image at all.Is the HDMI port broken then? The monitor and the cable are working fine with a different PC.

I've updated both display adapters softwares as well as the monitor software and restarted both the monitor and my laptop multiple times but it still won't work.
I tried to download the driver for my monitor but they only have it until windows 8...
Can anyone please help?

I received a new M900, and set it up as per instructions. I have a Dell S2415H HDMI monitor attached with a DisplayPort-to-HDMI adapter to an NVIDIA GT720 graphics card. When I power up, the system disk light indicates that it's working, but the monitor doesn't respond. Researching this, someone has suggested that for the initial power-up, a VGA cable might be required, and the driver to facilitate the Dell monitor could then be installed. Has anyone experienced this problem, and found a solution? Thank you.

1.  Some DP to HDMI cables only work for specific product combinations.    I recommend using Lenovo DP adapters or AMD approved adapters (Google for the list.)    If you can bypass this cable, and/or see if any of the other ports work, that would be great.
2.   Could be the BIOS needs to be set for the add-on graphics card.    Put a monitor directly on the built-in ports, and check the BIOS video settings for enablement of the PCIe graphics card.

Hello, This is a brand-new monitor (got it just today actually). Link to YouTube clip showing the problem As you can see from the clip that I uploaded to YouTube, whenever I press the ON button, after a few seconds a purple screen flashes quickly and then disappears. The monitor does NOT turn on. When the screen flashes the purple color, it does say that the "HDMI connection" is "active".  The monitor is connected to my mac air 2013 via HDMI. What is causing this problem? Is it the monitor or is it the connection? Could it be something wrong with my mac air itself? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Hello everyone,I purchased a Lenovo Yoga 13 about 3 years ago. Everything was running smooth until recently. I have tried many different televisions (both expensive high quality tvs and not so good one) and HDMI cables and still the problems persists. I even factory restored the notebook and still shut down when I connect the hdmi to the laptop.  Could it be a harware problem? Can I replace the HDMI port on the notebook?

Hi I have a Thinkpad Twist s230u and am having problems with connection of an external monitor/tv with an hdmi cable. The cable is brand new, as is the adaptor from hdm - hdmi-mini for the computer. I have turned on the tv and selected the correct hdmi input, then connected the hdmi-mini. when i right click on the desktop > screen resolution > detect; no displays are detected and i am left with only two options "Try to connect anyway on:VGA" and "Try to connect anyway on: Mobile PC display" neither of which do anything. It feels like this has got to do with an issue regarding the actual HDMI driver itself, but I'm not really sure what I'm looking for in this department. My graphics card is however updated and working correctly - Intel HD Graphics 4000. Can anyone offer any solutions? Thanks in advance.Chris

A:Thinkpad Twist s230u - problem with hdmi/external monitor

I'm having a similar problem. When I plug the HDMI cable into the laptop, the screen does a quick flash to black like normal, but there's no signal to the external monitor. After a few seconds, the monitor goes into "HDMI power saving mode." I've tried multiple cables, multiple adapters, and even tried hooking it up to an HDMI projection system at my office. Same result with everything--laptop acts like an external display has been connected, but there' s no picture at the destination. This used to work without a problem, so I don't know what's changed. I tried updating the display driver and even went back to Windows 8 and up to 8.1 again. Nothing. It's a huge problem because I travel and present for a living and some of the venues only have HDMI. I bought a minidisplay to HDMI adapter, but it would be nice to use the native port.

A:Audio over hdmi until i plug in earphones an unplug them.

What Video do you have? You show "Intel" but there are no Intel video cards. There is Intel video built into some CPU's, which I assume is what you have.

What sound driver do you have for the PC? It looks like the built in audio on that motherboard is VIA. If you do not have the correct VIA driver (e.g. only the generic basic function Windows installed HD Audio Codec), get the driver from MSI. As MSI does not list Windows 8 drivers, the Win 7 will work for Windows 8, but may not work correctly for Windows 8.1. This may or may not correct the problem, but its important to have the correct sound driver, with the jack detection.

The HDMI, if an HDMI cable is attached normally automatically switches to the HDMI audio output and sets itself as the default audio playback device. Plugging in a headphone, if it changes the audio playback to the headphones instead of HDMI, should automatically change back to HDMI. But, if it does not, manually setting the HDMI as the Default Playback device, in the Sound Panel, should take care of it, rather than having to reboot.

I really don't expect a solution to come out of this; but I would appreciate it if you looked into it. The problem was accidentally caused by me. I have a ati radeon 6850 graphic card hooked up to a Samsung syncmaster t260hd moniter. One day I tried to go to the graphic utility ccc to change the resolution and hertz. Because old movies looked jittery at 60 hertz. I must have used a hdtv custom resolution and now my monitor wont work anymore. It displays mode not supported the moment I turn on my computer. I used both hdmi ports on the monitor to no avail. But, now here the tricky part, I uninstalled the amd driver software, but I also installed driver software via steam video driver update feature way back in the past. As of now, I am using a dvi to hdmi connection with no noticeable difference in picture or video.

Below is the tgs sysinfo log. However, you can take your time, I can wait. There are users with more urgent problems. And thanks for looking into it.

Have you made sure your graphics card driver is up to date?

Have you tried starting your PC up in safe mode and seeing if the problem still persists?

Please ensure you have done both of these and then post back; it would also be helpful if we knew your system specifications which you can fill in under 'User CP'.

Also does the task bar appear on the primary monitor or secondary monitor?

I am using Dell Inspiron 13 series 5000 laptop with Windows 10 pre-installed and I have the following problem.  I have an external monitor connected via VGA cable, VGA to HDMI adapter and to HDMI port on laptop. When I put the computer to sleep, disconnect the VGA - HDMI adapter and then connect it back, it is unable to wake the computer up from sleep. The only solution is to disassemble the back cover and unplug and plug again the battery (it is quite annoying, since it is not possible to unplug the battery without disassembling the back cover). The problem persisted if I was testing it with only the adapter (without monitor VGA cable plugged into it). Therefore my question is: Is it hardware or software problem? If it is hardware, which component should be replaced? Battery, motherboard, HDMI connector or something else? Thanks in advance!

I have a white screen upon startup. I was able to use my laptop when plugging the VGA cable in the back to an external monitor but that only works with a few tries.
I notice if i put my laptop on sleep for less than 2 hours the external monitor works.
Any time longer and I have to start the process of removing and inserting the plug and playing with my external monitor so it can detect a signal, it usually takes a few tries and a few minutes.
The white screen is always on my laptop throughout the process and even when the external monitor works.
Just determining if i should replace me screen or ribbon video cable or check my connection to my vga cable or could it be my motherboard.

any help or direction is appreciated.

A:Dell Inspiron 15R N5110 screen problem - white screen & external monitor works if I jiggle the plug

We need to isolate if the issue is with the LCD or the video card. So, turn off the system - press and hold the "d" + power key to turn it back on - this should initiate the LCD built in self test. You should see a screen with solid changing colors and the system would beep. If you see this - the LCD is fine. If you do not see the colors changing - then repeat the step again - but this time - swivel the LCD back and forth and see if there is any display. If the display is intermittent then the LCD cable needs reseating/replacing.
Also, turn off the system and press and hold the "fn" key + power button to turn it back on - wait for a few minutes. If you do not see any display, the system should start beeping. Count the number of beeps per cycle. At any point if you see the screen with solid colors changing - the LCD is fine. The issue is with the video card/motherboard. If do not see the changing colors - then we would suspect the LCD.
Test the system with another VGA cable for the external monitor.
If the system is under warranty, then please send me the service tag of the system and your contact details through a private conversation. Or you could use twitter - @dellcares - we can DM through twitter and help you fix the issue.
Keep us updated.

Hi. Odd one this - the HDMI (DVI) doesn't detect the monitor correctly - lists it as a Generic Non PNP monitor with corresponding resolutions. VGA out and in works fine (except shaky picture that I don't like) - native res is 1680x1050 at 60hz. Tried - manually setting the res (only goes to 1200x720), and windows update to get a new driver. One is available; but then error WindowsUpdate_800F020B Which says - try emailing customer support. (also had problems with vista and this setup on two identical monitors and laptops - but upgraded to win7rc1 as it is so much better) Next step? Thanks for reading, Joe

I just purchased an adapter plug that allows me to connect my Lenovo/IBM thinkpad (T420) to my HDTV by plugging the HDMI cord into my TV and the other end to this adapter plug which converts the HDMI cable into a male plug which fits into my display port (there is no HDMI port on this model computer). It worked, but now I can't remove the adapter plug...it's stuck in the laptop display port. I do not know if the problem is caused by the male adapter plug or the female jack in the computer, but they're locked together now.

I have previously read review comments (on these HDMI/display port adapter plugs) mentioning this jamming happening on more than a couple occasions, but I don't recall any resolutions being mentioned except to break off (and destroy) the plug and possibly damage the display port as well. I called Lenovo tech support but they said I'd have to mail the computer to them to get it fixed. I'd prefer avoiding that if possible even though my warranty is still in effect and it would be of no cost to me.....just time lost without a computer.

I'd greatly appreciate hearing from anyone who may be aware of how to resolve this problem (and also how to avoid it happening again) without doing damage to either the plug or especially the computer display port.

Thanks for your consideration in any case....

I have been looking for verification that if I buy the Dell 24 Gaming Monitor – S2417DG and attach it to my Inspiron 15 Gaming 7567 HDMI that I will get full 2560x1440 resolution refresh rate 165 Hz with 1ms response as the Monitor specs are listed.
I can find no information that the HDMI will pass this level of output.
I have talked to Dell tech support and they do say that the HDMI port is connected directly to the  NVIDIA  GeForce GTX 1050T i with 4GB GDDR5 but I also have seen information that HDMI will not support this.
So I am looking for verification on this configuration being compatible/able to output the full capabilities of the video card to the monitor via the on board HDMI output?

A:Inspiron 15 Gaming 7567 HDMI Specs/Does HDMI out support full bandwidth for G-SYNC Dell Gaming Monitor – S2417DG

First of all, G-Sync as far as I know requires DisplayPort and will not run on HDMI.  Even if it does, I don't think even HDMI 2.0 has enough bandwidth for 1440p @ 165 Hz.  And even if it does though, all of the Dell systems I've seen have only had HDMI 1.4, which is only enough for 1440p @ 60 Hz.  But even if all of that isn't a problem, does the Inspiron 7567 have ONLY a GeForce GPU, or does it have an Intel GPU plus a GeForce GPU?  If it's the latter, G-Sync will definitely not work because in almost all systems that have both GPUs, only the Intel GPU is directly wired to the display outputs.  If your system has ONLY the GeForce GPU, then G-Sync should work in theory, but again you may have the bandwidth problems I mentioned above.

So eagerly i tought to buy this cool looking laptop for a huge $2000 i needed it to output to a hdmi monitor ot TV so sometimes i could see movies as well, now i had to buy the special DA200 dell adaptor and in the past 3 weeks it`s been a complete nightmare, i WAS NEVER ABLE to make it work permanently. The chat support was no help at all usually simply resuming to try and replace the part but i do think the part is good and i didn't feel like waiting 2 weeks for it to ship from china.

The ethernet and usb work on the DA200 adaptor , EXCEPT HDMI.  SOMETIMES it would work briefly until next restart, i had tried everything ever available on the internet. The laptop is running Windows 10 (as it`s restricted to that version, i tried to install other versions with lots of issues and compatibility issues) so  i have installed reinstalled and installed different versions of the video driver for all possible windowses and none worked. what did work was very brief until next restart and that usually happened when i had a fresh windows install, after the first restart i will get a non working hdmi again.

I have tried several hdmi cables so i know it`s not the hdmi cable or the tv ot the monitor. and nobody seems to be able to help!!

Oops I see my first post got sent, even if the website failed...
Anyay.. I talked to Dell Support and they told me to update the firmware for:
Intel (R) Thunderbolt 3 Firmware Update
(version 02.05.04,A00)
downloaded forn Dell.com/support
Enter your service tag and you will find it under Chipset on the driver download page.
That fixed it for me!
It was a known issue for the guy i talked to.

I have the 2nd setup through a vga to hdmi cable but it just sits there black with "check signal cable."

2nd monitor is an lg2241

- multiple re-boots
- downloaded a driver from LG but don't see that it did any kind of install. Double clicking it's zip file opened it and clicking on the three files did nothing but open gibberish code.
- at screen resolution I see multiple displays and I have it set on extended.
- Clicked detect and identify
- #2 says display device on vga
- tried unplugging and reconnecting the cable (hdmi to vga)

I'm lost. SOS!

A:Dual monitor setup hdmi to vga on 2nd monitor shows nothing

Dave welcome to the Seven Forums.

That cable won't work unless the VGA port on the computer/laptop supports digital (highly unlikely), as VGA is an analogue signal and HDMI is digital. To get it to work you would need some kind of converter not an adapter, which that cable essentially is.

Assuming this is your monitor,

LG E2241V-BN: 22" Full HD LED LCD Monitor | LG USA

is says it has a VGA port on it. If it does then just use a plain old VGA cable.

Hi guys,

I decided to purchase a Samsung LED monitor and have connected it up to my pc using a HDMI cable. I recieve the picture on the screen but no audio, been spending the majority of today trying to solve the issue but have landed short.

My set up is a AMD A10-5800K APU, 8 GB ram and using windows 7 64 bit. The monitor I purchased is a Samsung LED monitor T32E310EX.

Currently the speaker symbol has an x next to it, when I click it it tries to fix the problem. When I right click it and go to playback device it shows Digital Audio HDMI (High Definition Audio Device) as my default device but no sound bars next to it. If anyone could help me out that would be great thanks

Have you configured your speaker setup to use Monitor Speakers rather than external speakers?

Monitor is plugged in vga. Toshiba tv us plugged in hdmi. When I turn my computer on it thinks the tv is the vga monitor. If I unplug the tv and have just the monitor it recognises it but if I then plug in my TV. It then switches to that screen and won't return to the monitor even if I unplug my tv. It won't play sound through my tv or recognise it as one. I can't use windows and P as it does nothing. I want the monitor to be primary and tv as secondary with sound. Help me please

This is kind of a strange problem, but my monitor plug is missing a few of the prongs that are inserted into the computer. I was wondering if this could be fixed, or do I need to buy a new monitor?

A:Monitor Plug

I just had a look at a spare and it seems to have a few holes where you would think pins should be, works fine.

I am trying to install a 17" LCD Monitor with a no name LCD controller that has no plug and play capability. I have tried turning off hidden modes (works in 2000 Pro) and changing the monitor type to standard LCD 1280 by 1024. In the display information window it show 1280 by 1024 but it is displaying 640 by 480.

Anyone have a work around this feature of XP Pro? Oh, yes I have tried this on XP Home and it works up to 1024 by 768. Which is better then I get with XP Pro.

Thanks for any help I can get.

A:Non Plug and Play Monitor

check the manufacturers site for a driver for it,but if it is working in pro reinstall your video drivers

Thanks in advance,
