I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Trying to figure out how I can go about ordering this since mine has become damaged. I found the part here: https://pcsupport.lenovo.com/us/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/thinkpad-x-series-laptops/thinkpad-... Guess I can use 5CB0V79343, or 01YU722 as an alternative. Can't figure out how to order it though through the website and not finding much online when I Google the part number. How can I go about ordering one?

I see no screws (Case Cover). There is a tab that when pushed in it clicks under the cover. I can lift it up with a screwdriver, but it doesn't give. It's a Lenovo with IBM printed on the front. 2006 I believe. Windows 10.

I received a laptop from my father and the fan needs to be replaced. But I cannot figure out how to remove the cover. There are no screws at all on the base, even under the rubber feet. There appears to be some kind of security lock on the right side but I have no key. Or it is a slot for a lock cable. I have a picture of the bottom of the laptop if somebody needs it, as well as other pics.

I bought an x1 carbon 4th gen a few years ago. While its had its problems, overall I've enjoyed the computer - although I wish I didn't do the custom build. In the last year or so, I've had extreme cursor jumping when pressure is applied to the bottom or top of the keyboard, especially if its not on flat surfaces. It gets so bad that it gets stuck in corners and I cannot move it at all. the only way to move it was to apply slight bending pressure to the whole bottom half or do a sleep/restart. I read somewhere that it could be a battery swelling issue that interferes with the touchpad sensor in the middle of the keyboard. I brushed it off and hoped an update would fix it. Several updates later it did not and actually only got worse. By chance, I tried turning of the touchpad function and miraculously, the cursor does not jump anymore, meaning it is a software issue. I've found a few other threads with the exact same issue but no responses let alone no solutions. It is really annoying because I when the whole touchpad is toggled off, the trackpoint AND the two trackpad buttons at the top are turned off. I got used to those functions, especially the two left/right buttons, so it sucks not being able to use them. I am wondering if I can get a refund or a new laptop, because as a lenovo user its unaccetable to pay the price you do for an x1 just to get mediocre results. Please help me find a solution, any advice is appreciated

Dear Lenovo, when are you finally going to officially address the fact that many recently released notebooks suffer from audio issues when listening to audio via the headphone jack. In specific, the phenomenon can be observed best when listening to audio via headphones. If you listen to audio which quickly changes the volume then you can hear a clear crackling noise on the right audio channel. If you listen to normal speech for example, which includes small breaks you can hear a crackling noise each time before the person starts to speak and when the person stops to speak. A good example for observing this issue is the following YouTube video:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XCOHTLNMvCE Listening to the first two minutes of the video linked above with headphones plugged into the audio jack is already enough to observe the issue. If your device is affected you will be able to observe a little crackling noise on your right headphone audio channel, each time there is a small break between the talking. This issue has already been reported a thousand times all over the internet and not only affects the ThinkPad X1 Extreme, but also many other high-profile ThinkPad product lines. For example, this issue has been mentioned in the official Lenovo forum here, but you chose to not respond. Instead you let people struggle with this issue. Moreover, the forum entry below confirms that also the ... Read more

Have you tried using parts lookup?  Choose "Mechanical Assemblies" on the left under commodity type.  Dont post your serial number here but if you put it in parts lookup you will find parts for your laptop.  I just looked up Generic u530.

https://pcsupport.lenovo.com/us/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/ideapad-u-series-laptops/ideapad-u5...

With that part number you can get at Lenovo Encompass store.  Please verify part numbers before buying.

A:Protective screen-film on Lenovo Y700 17.3"?

Yes indeed there is an antiglare film attached to the display. You can remove it using a hairdryer, carefuly to heat it up and remove the film. There is a video on youtube doing that, but it needs attention as not to destroy the display. But if you remove it you are going to have at least 2 times more reflection on your screen

Hello, i have some issues with the display of my Lenovo Thinkpad Yoga 260. It shows some yellow spots on the display, especially in the lower corners. I have already contacted the Lenovo Support Team concerning warranty. But Lenovo claims, that my Laptop is no longer covered by the warranty, because i have removed the lamination sheet of the display and replaced it by another one. So now i want to exchange the display on my own. Is it possible to order a display without any further services, so that i can do the exchange of my display by my self? I haven´t found any website (including Lenovo) that offers the display seperately without any installation service. So i just want to have the spare part. I got the following Model:Lenovo Thinkpad Yoga 260 with a Full HD DisplayType: 20FES00000 I would be grateful for any help.

See subject.  Ever since the BIOS upgrade, the dock no longer crashes.  Two days running now with no problems; prior to the upgrade it would crash routinely when connecting via USB-C.  I had to employ the unsavoury workaround of connecting the laptop to a charger and connecting it to the dock via the USB-A port using the USB-A to USB-C adaptor supplied.  Now I'm connecting via USB-C cable only. In fact, I'd given up on using the dock at all and had it just sitting there.  I decided to give it another go after reading that BIOS v1.19 fixed instances of BSODs occuring when connected to an external monitor (which I did experience now and again when connecting to an external monitor via HDMI i.e. not via dock).    Dock Type : 40AFX1E Type : 20MF

Recently I had to upgrade my power supply, and I find it won't fit into my case. Rather than going out to get another one, I simply plugged it in on the outside of the case and left the cover off. Is this safe?

A:Safe to run without case cover on?

Safe to do. Absolutely.

But I don't recommend it if there is any chance something could get inside it and bump into stuff. (little kids, toys, dog or cat, ect).

But yes, you can run without the side of the case on no problem.

I have an Antec SLK600AMB that has 2 optional case fans, one inf the front, one in the back of the case. However, it didn't come with any covers in case I don't want to use the fans. Should I not use the system until I can get the fans or can I run it if I cover the holes up?

Thanks for your help (nothing on Antec-inc.com about this)

C

A:Case Fan Holes -- Cover them?

I'd add the fans myself, unless they are positioned in such a way to hinder airflow. You can run it without having to cover the holes. That isn't a problem but adding the fans will probably increase airflow. I'm not familiar with that particular case but since it is an Antec, I'd expect it to be set up for maximum airflow.

Hi all,

Here's the story. I had a laptop with Windows 8.1 that I got a few years back. A month ago my child knocked it over, destroying the power source. I was able to replace it and after that my laptop started fine once, but then it simply died. No odd noises came from the HD so I assumed it was not the problem.

I proceeded on removing the HD and plucking it into another Windows 8.1 machine via converters and a USP cable, assuming that it would work the same way as all other HDs had done that I've previously recovered. It didn't. The HD was recognized just fine, but it claimed to be a "Healthy GPT protective partition" and didn't allow me to assign a letter to it so that I could access it. I tried Disk Management and also browsed around Disk Part, but was unable to make it work.

After that I attempted to use TestDisk following the instructions here:
Have you "lost" a hard drive or partition in your computer? | Tech Support Forum

Now, my drive didn't look quite the way it should have, but it was close enough so I assumed that those instructions would work for me. I was wrong. After the use of TestDisk my computer now assigns drives to it, in fact, it assigns three different drives to it, but when I click any of them it says "requires formatting" to access the data. I obviously don't want to do that.

I called a data recovery company and they said that it's definitely fixable but costs me between $800-$2,200 which is a very hefty p... Read more

A:(Solved) How do I put my own picture(s) on a CD jewel case cover?

Doing this is pretty easy, once you know how

Firstly, open the picture you would like to put onto your JC cover...

Use the 'Cut' or 'Copy' tool to place the picture into the Windows Clipboard...

Go into your JC Cover making program...

Press CTRL + V and the picture should appear as an object in your JC program

If this doesnt work, let me know, and it would also be helpful if you could tell me which program it is that you are using.

Hope this helps

My computer case cover vibrates, making humming noise. I know this because if I gently press the computer case cover the humming is significantly reduced. I suspect the culprit may be a new hard drive that I recently installed (Seagate Barracuda 1TB). What puzzles me though is that the pressing place that reduces humming sound is on the other side of cover from where the hard drive is. There's nothing behind the spot, but CPU fan is blowing hot air that direction. GPU is 10cm lower. I don't think the case cover is directly touching any components. Cover model is Antec Sonata III silent atx.

I installed the hard drive on same spot where last hard drive was, with four screws and elastic grommets that are supposed to reduce vibrations. I think the installation itself went fine. Screws are tight and cables seemed reasonably uncrowded. How should I troubleshoot this problem?

A:Vibration on computer case cover makes humming noise.

Remove the cover so you can touch the hard drive & see if you can feel excessive vibrations from the new hard drive. You should feel slight vibrations in it as it has parts rotating at high RPM.

The vibration could also be caused by a dry fan bearing & these can get very noisy & vibrate a lot.

Two ThinkPad X1 Yoga Gen2 TabletPCs will successfully boot into Windows 10 just fine from a hard poweroff.  But once in windows, if i choose Restart, it will hang at the "LENOVO" BIOS  level boot up logo with "To interrupt normal startup, press Enter".   Stuck at Lenovo BOOT BIOS initialization screen, right before handoff to the Operating System. "To interrupt normal startup, press Enter" At this point, pressing ENTER does not work.CTRL-ALT+DEL causes the screen to change shade for a moment, but effectively does nothing.Changing the UEFI settings to diagnostics results in black screen.Holding the power switch to force a poweroff, waiting a few moments, and then powering on results in a successful windows startup.  DevMGMT.msc does NOT see bluetooth and there is "Unknown USB Device (Device Descriptor Request Failed)" entry under "Universal Serial Bus controllers".  I have run all automatic updates via "Lenovo Vantage" and the manual TPM update.   I can boot into the firmware setup and have had it revert to factory defaults and reverted to factory defaults for all security settings.   I even tried the Win10 repair startup problems, but it says it cannot fix this.

A:ThinkPad X1 Yoga Gen2 does not Restart, requires hard power off. Stuck at Lenovo boot logo.

It looks to me like you have a faulty hardware issue or a serious driver issue. Try the Lenovo recovery to put the device back to the factory windows install. If that fails, I would think you have a hardware issue.

Hi, I'm having this annoying problem where each time I power on the computer, this tamper error message comes up, forcing me to hit escape so that i can boot to desktop.I've tried enabling and disabling this option in bios, resetting bios to default, setting and deleting supervisor passwords, none of that worked.I've also tried removing and putting the cover back on, checked for any visible spacing on the laptop case, no luck.I'm not that frustrated, but it still is kind of annoying.Anyone got any ideas?
