I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

I hope someone more experienced can help me with this-
I have ordered an Intel Celeron D 320 (2.4GHz) to build a economical, 'average' spare system. The new "D" is based on the latest Prescott architecture but does not include hyperthreading, and its L2 cache is smaller. They apparently overclock impressively well, however, and should be great for 'average users' (non-gamers). And the price is 'right' at around 70 dollars presently. I've seen a number of very positive reviews of the new "D". It is apparently *way* better than all previous Celerons including the earlier P4 type Celerons.

Here's my concern- the MB I have on hand and planned to use with it looks like it *may* not be compatible with the CPU. It's an Acorp 4S648FXL. The BIOS chip on the board is marked "4S648FXL | 1.0 4800 | 2003/08/27". The box it came in is marked "4S648FXL-11-A01" above the UPC. It's an 'A01' revision level, apparently.

On the Acorp website, the support page offers the latest BIOS version 1.2 / 2004-9-22 and says it will "Support Prescott with FSB 533 Mhz CPU (PCB 1.0 with A03 sticker)". I have that sinking feeling that the 'A03' sticker means a physically different version of the MB than my 'A01' version. OR- is it just an earlier BIOS version?? So the question is basically this- can I safely assemble the rev. A01 MB with my Celeron D 320 CPU and then do a BIOS fl... Read more

A:Intel Celeron D Mother Board Compatibility?

There is a good chance your CeleronD is not compatible with that board. I ran into this problem when we switched over to the CeleronD at work, we had to make sure we were getting the newer revision of the board (Albatron PM266 Pro), as the older one looked identical, but was not compatible (and no BIOS update would fix that).

It's true that they overclock well, I got my 2.66GHz one up to 3.4GHz without even needing to increase the CPU voltage.

Pin compatible? The sockets look identical, if that's what you mean. But boards may require hardware changes (e.g. improved power delivery) to support a Prescott. You aren't likely to damage a board by plugging one in, it just won't boot.

No, the motherboard supplies the voltage to it. The CPU tells the motherboard the voltage it wants, but some boards (including mine) allow you to increase the voltage.

Hi,I own a HP Omni 27-1015t  with a GeForce GT 540M card.  Unfortenuately, I am not able to install windows 10 due to compatilibity issues. After contacting HP support some months ago, I finally got around to removing the card today (as they suggested), but when I switch on the computer again, the display is blank. Is there anything outside of removing the card I need to do for the mother board graphics to kick in?  Only thing HP support suggested was to remove the card, install win10 and then put the card back into the computer (it should be win10 compatible).  I did try to install win10 with the card in, but was not able to get the correct graphics. Hoping for some good tip here.  Thank you. RegardsAre

I have bought a Dell Laptop 2 years ago which came with Windows 8.1 Home edition. The Hard disk which came with the laptop is still there and it contains the Windows 8.1 installation partition. But, due to a problem of motherboard, I had to replace it. The laptop came with i5 4th Generation processor, now I installed i3 4th generation as i5 was not available.
When I start the system I see Windows is not activated. I don't remember the product key that came with the Laptop. It doesn't seem to be there printed on the Laptop.
I tried activation via phone, but the installation id shown in Windows seem to be that of the new motherboard. The old mother board is not there now. So it didn't get activated.

i called up asus and they told me that it can be that my mother board needs to have certain drivers on it because its sata and i need to set it as my primary sata. can someone please help me!?

A:Problem with reinstalling windows with a K8V-SE mother board

I am assuming your new hard drive is a SATA drive. what Asus is referring to is the sata drivers which shoud have come with your motherboard. usually they are on a floppy disk. if you dont have them you should be able to download them from Asus.

Hey Guys,
I guess there is too much text in this post but I wanted to give you all a clear description of my problem please help. I have attached few screen shots as well.

I have some problems with my USB ports. I have 2 ports in front and 4 at the back (on the mother board). All these ports were working fine, since last 2-3 weeks there seems to be some problem with it.

I have a webcam that I connect via the back USB port, I never disconnect it. Recently the power supply unit failed when I tried to start the pc. So I replaced it with a new one, everything was back to normal.

Then after a few days or a week I opened my pc because it one of the front USB ports was not detecting my flash drive, while doing this I disconnected all the wires from the back of the CPU including the webcam.

When I restarted the pc the back USB ports stopped detecting any devices, there was a pop up stating, "One of the USB devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned and Windows does not recognize it"
So I tried connecting it in the front port, there came a pop up stating, "Your USB Mass Storage Device can perform faster if it is plugged into a hi-speed port"

I never use to get a message like this in the past and another thing I noticed was that the transfer speed has also reduced drastically. I was copying a few movies to my friendís flash drive and it took ages,

Transferring at a speed of 800-900 kb/second. The transfer speed was pretty fast on XP and on the sam... Read more

Win7x64 Home Premium ASUS U56E.
Before I sent my system in for warranty repair, I made a disk image onto external drive. I checked the vhd file out--for example Attach VHD allowed me to read all the files. Then I did a full factory restore and sent it into ASUS. It took two RMA's but finally they fixed the problem by replacing the mother board. I presume it was the same part (but difficult to get info from ASUS).
.
Now I am trying to restore the disk image. After choosing [recover system settings or your computer] -> [Advanced recovery methods] -> [Use a system image created earlier to recover your computer] -. [Skip] -> [Restart] ... "loading files" ... [US language]... I get "Windows cannot find a system image on this computer" an no amount of retry, refresh or anything I can find will help. The disk is mounted and I can navigate to the same .vhd file I saw when I backed up (above).

I read somewhere that if the mother board is changed, windows will act like this.
If someone knows a way I can restore, I will appreciate it.
I may be willing to settle for attaching the .vhd (as above) and being able to access the backed-up files. But when I try this, it appears that I do not have permission to read them (because of a new mother board?). Windows tells me to use "security" to get access (I am not the Admin but my username has Admin rights). I try this and add my username and wanting only "read and excute" control, in t... Read more

A:UEFI mother board - Unable to install windows

I would disable EFI. This is normally done by enabling Legacy BIOS or removing the EFI Boot disk from BIOS boot order. If this isn't sufficient read your Manual for how to disable EFI which is not needed and more trouble than it's worth unless you have a 3tb HD. You can have as many partitions as you want by limiting to 3 Primary and unlimited Logical.

Then wipe the HD with Diskpart Clean Command from the Win7 installer accessing DISKPART At PC Startup, followed by the command "Convert MBR" then "Exit." Click Install Now and proceed. Post back verbatim error message if any.

Then he calls me and says he needed to try something else. Calls me back next day, says its my mother board. No good. Called him yesterday, said that it wasn't ready, needed to reinstall everything. This is now the 4th time he is reinstalling. Called today, said it's not ready, taking long time to reinstall everything. Told me I could probably pick up a new computer for about 400.00. I told him to just reinstall everything. Told me he was trying, but said that he may not be able to. Can anyone shed some light as to what is going on. I don't trust him all of a sudden. Why reinstall 4 times. Any suggestions what it could be, or what's going on.

One problem that has me perplexed . When a customers motherboard goes down , it means reformatting and re-installing XP. Of course all my customer info is gone. If you try to boot up With the new motherboard XP will not load. It launches a critical error and says the boot sector has a virus. I know that XP has this built in to prevent it from being installed on several different computers . This anti-piracy is based upon motherboards bios.

I will not build a computer with pirated software but when the legal owner of the PC and the software needs his computer fixed he should not have to lose all his info. This is when I miss 98 , ME. Under those most computers it was replace motherboard and after several reboots you were all ready to go with all your data intact.

has anybody come up with a work around for this ?

What kind of computer are we talking about? According to MS, if you get an OEM motherboard from the manufacturer, with SLP (System-Locked Preinstall) in the BIOS, that's all you need. They don't mention any re-install. Maybe you can sort it out from This Page Is it possible to do a repair install and save the data?

Was your old CPU a Celeron as well? Same speed?

You may want use the Clear CMOS jumper to clear the BIOS settings or you can pull out the CMOS battery for a few minutes.

Try reseating the RAM and video card as well. Or try a known good piece of RAM and a good video card. You can disconnect all the drives and remove any unneccessary PCI cards like a modem.

DDR3 comes with high clocks but also with price and high latency. So, high quality DDR2 would(COULD in some occasions) still outdo DDR3. To a point, latencies can determine the performance more than clocks.

Hi Buzz,
It sounds like you need to remap your keyboard. Go the following Microsoft webpage:

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...69-57ff-4ae7-96ee-b18c4790cffd&displaylang=en

and download the Server 2003 tools software for free (good for XP too). Run the "remapkey.exe" tool to reprogram your keyboard--provided you're running Windows XP, of course.

Hope this helps! Good luck!

I have a Compaq Presario CQ5210f with a M2N68-LA (Narra6) motherboard and I also have a old Compaq Presario SR1010NX with a MS-6577 (Giovani, Giovani2) mother board and it seems like the second mother board is better than the first. I would like to know which one is better because I have both computer towers but only use the CQ5210f. I am planning on putting in a new graphics card soon and I cant afford a whole new computer or motherboard right now so I have to pick between these to.

A:Which Mother Board is better?

No contest the second one. The first is an ancient (in computer terms) Pentium 4/DDR/AGP based board, whereas the first is a much more recent AMD AM3/DDR3/PCI-E board that the Compaq bios allowing can up to probably the Phenom II x4 965, which will eat that old P4 for breakfast (would eat for lunch and dinner too).

Hello,
I am wanting to get a new mother board, to use with the AMD XP 1700 or greater processor. I am wanting to sue RDRam. However all I see is DDRAM boards. Is DD and RD Ram the same thing??? If a mother board supports DDRam will it also support RDRam???
Is there any reomendation for a mother board that will use RDRam and the AMD chip???

Thanks,

Bear

A:Mother Board

Currently, there are no motherboards or chipsets that support RDRAM with AMD processors. It could be a possiblity in the future.

RDRAM and DDR RAM are not at all the same thing. They are two different types of memory. None of the memory types are interchangeable. A particular memory slot can only accept one type of memory. Some motherboards support two different types of memory, but they have separate slots for each type, and you can only use memory sticks of one type. You cannot use both types at one time.

All help apreciated.

A:How can i tell if my mother board is...

bahh, no english sites with that motherboard for some reason...

Actually, can't find any information about that board at all, you sure you copied it right?

You can always open up the case, and see if there's physically a PCIe x16 slot there or not. Some pics of the PCIex16 and how to differentiate it and the AGPx8 slot here.

So I just bought a new mother board for my dell studio 1458 laptop and it was a direct replacement except the graphics card is different. I put everything back together, and went to boot. The screen stayed a dark black green flashed a couple times and it beeped at me a few time. When it did come up, the screen was really dark, and it came up as trying to fix windows from not booting. Also during this time, the CPU fan was screaming. What's going on here? Did I miss a step?

A:help with new mother board!!!!!!!

Sounds like something might not be seated all the way...worth double checking.

My computer i have rightnow is a HP T6212 and its around 7 years old at its to the point were it cant do anything right with out random performance drops so were going to get either a new computer or build on. Ive told my mother that building would save atleast 100 dollar. Now my problem is i need a mother board that can take 4 GB of ram (DDR SDRAM) and we dont need more then 125gb memory, the computer we hae right now has 145gb, and only 30gb are used :/ so i think we an save money froom haveing les mem. I plan on playing Mabinoig, combat arms, Dragons nest,Vindictus, mincraft, and my sister plans on playing Sims 3, all of this on my computer, and being able to record videos like minecraft. on top of that the normal flash games. this is like 10-15 mb of space, not much so alota space isnt needed, but a fast enough mother board is needed.
Also what is a good enough graphics card to play these games, they arent high end graphics and i dont need high end either. so yeah name em please and make em cheap

i have a dell dem 8100 and it has a planar mobo it is a 5e692 i need to know if it is an atx or what it is i am going to buy a new case and need to know please help me out i am new to this stuff

A:need help with my mother board

It should be an ATX form factor. I have an 8300 and it's a standard ATX mobo. The only thing you need to be careful of is that there isn't anything proprietary like the front panel connections or power supply connections. Sometimes they use things that are not standard.
