Preferred Solution: My virus wont let me open my antivirus software, or open certain programs.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: My virus wont let me open my antivirus software, or open certain programs.

Not knowing what OS you're using makes this possibly not applicable, but if it's Windows 10:

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/17466/windows-defender-offline-help-protect-my-pc

An offline scan, if you can trigger it, runs before the OS is loaded and can nuke things that cannot be touched once the OS is loaded and the virus/malware is active.

Hi, my name is Jason and i am new here. I found these forums through another website and came here to seek help with my computer running windows vista. It will not allow me to successfully install or open antivirus programs. It also will not allow mne to successfully save and use antivirus tools such as rkill.exe. I am not overly computer literate but this is getting crazy! and i gotta do something!

A:Help antivirus programs wont open!

Hello and welcome to BC,

can you try to download rKill from this address: iExplore.exe (renamed rKill.exe): http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/rkill/dl/11/

Did you try in safe mode?

Which antivirus did you try to run?

When did you notice the problem?

Before posting I tried to follow instructions and downloaded DDS to the desktop but when I tried to run it, my computer opened a box asking me what program to use to open/run it.... I could not get it to run.

I have Malewarebytes and Bitdefender but when I try to run those the same problem exists.

It seems any .exe program won't work.

I tried to run in safe mode but that triggered only a blue error screen telling me that windows was shut down because it detected a problem and said to run antivirus.

In the control panel I tried to access add/remove software but it won't allow access.

I have Windows XP.

Don't know where to begin and appreciate your assistance.

My computer was attacked by a really bad virus. When I try to open my Norton antivirus or Adaware, I just get the Open With selection box. The Task Manager option is greyed out and I cannot open it. I believe a virus will not let me open any of my antivirus, saying access is denied or unknown path. I've tried to download more antivirus off the web and that is blocked also as they try to install the antivirus. I've tried in safe mode also. When I shut down the computer it gives me a blue screen saying windows has shut down to prevent further damage. There is a malicious program running called "ensOd.exe *32 that appeared on my processes with no description and around the same time the virus might have come on.
Any help would be appreciated!

Hi,
I recently got some kind of a virus, and no programs will open including the task manager. I can't really do anything (posting this from another computer). I'm not sure what kind it is, but it put a fake Anti-Spyware icon on my desktop and is telling me I need to protect my computer. Also got a taskbar popup saying something about Blaster Worm.

I ran DDS and GMER, but could only run them in Safe Mode, so in GMER alot of the boxes were greyed out and could not be checked. I also ran HiJackThis is regular mode. I have posted the DDS.txt log below and am attaching Attach.txt, ark.txt, and the HiJackThis log. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I had XP Antivirus 2012 on my computer initially, and was able to fix it by following directions. However, then another "Security Protection" virus got onto the computer. I followed all directions from the bleepingcomputer.com tutorial, but it still did not fix the problem. When I start the computer and it loads normally lots and lots of blank windows pop up repeatedly on the desktop. Whenever I try to start any program an error message pops up saying that some part of a file is missing, no matter what program I try to open.

Hi All,
I appologise for not properly reading the forum rules before I posted. Here's the new post with all the information requested:

Problem description (as previously mensioned)

I'm having a few problems with virus, apparently. I realised in one of my laptops (when i wanted to do an online Panda ActiveScan virus search) that i can't open any anti-virus website or even the windows update website. I was in the process of re-installing XP in one of my laptops and even after installation, the virus is still there and it wont even let me install Avira (from a previously downloaded file) because, at a certain point in time, when Avira trys to connect to the internet, i get a msg saying that internet connection couldnt be established.
So, bottom line, i got the same virus on 2 laptops running XP SP3 and no anti-virus installed.
I've seen some other posts on the same topic but for each of the solutions, people have submited logs of some kind and i wasn't sure if their solution would apply to me as well.
It would be great if someone would help me out.

Please see below the DDS.txt log and attached the zip with Arc.txt and Attach.txt

Many thanks for your time and support!
Bernardo

A:Virus Problem 2nd try - antivirus websites wont open

Please visit this webpage for instructions for downloading and running ComboFix:

http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/comb...o-use-combofix

Please ensure you read this guide carefully and install the Recovery Console first.

The Windows Recovery Console will allow you to boot up into a special recovery mode if needed. This allows us to help you in the case that your computer has a problem after an attempted removal of malware. It is a simple procedure that will only take a few moments of your time.

Close/disable all anti virus and anti malware programs so they do not interfere with the running of ComboFix.

As part of installing the Recovery Console, ComboFix will begin to run. Follow the prompts to install the Recovery Console. Your desktop may disappear. This is normal. It will return.

Once the Recovery Console is installed using ComboFix, you should see a message that says:

The Recovery Console was successfully installed.

Please continue as follows:

Click Yes to allow ComboFix to continue scanning for malware.

When the tool is finished, it will produce a report for you.

Post the log from ComboFix when you've accomplished that.

If you have any questions along the way, STOP and ask them before proceeding.

I visited some website about 2 days ago and instantly I got this pop up from "MS Removal Tool," telling me that my computer has been infected. It posted off a litany of viruses, malware and spyware infecting my computer. Things like:

Trojan IRCBot.d
Win32.SpamterKG Worm
Spyware.007 Spyware Software
Trojan Dropper MSword
WormBagle.CP
Trusted Antivirus
Trojan Tooso
Secure PC Cleaner
Spyware. IMMoniter
Win32.Agent.ads
Win32.Outsbot.u
TrojanBatAdUser
InfoStealer Banker.E

and a bunch of others that i didn't write down since there were so many.

This "MS Removal Tool" pop up kept telling me I had to purchase this application in order to get rid of these viruses, but I didn't trust it since the viruses came at the same time the "MS Removal Tool" came up.

Also, in my taskbar I would get additional pop ups telling me that certain applications can no longer work because of infection. Those applications are:
CCApp.exe
CCSetMgr.exe
VPTray
SPBBSvc.exe

Within 1 or 2 mins. of the "MS Removal Tool" pop up, initially popping up the background on my desktop turned into a blue background and within minutes of that happening I discovered I couldn't open a lot of my programs.

At this point I decided to run a virus scan with my antivirus program: "Symantec Antivirus Corporate edition," but that wouldn't run and on the taskbar I got a pop up telling me that the "RTVSscan.exe cannot be executed because it is ... Read more

Hi, i've recently been experiencing some issues with internet connectivity and a few other random problems that have been occurring with my computer that i believe are being caused by spyware or some sort of virus.
My system specs are - i am running windows XP professional, Service pack 3,
2.4 ghz quadcore pentium processor with 2 gigs of ram. I am on a wireless internet connection provided by comcast. Both the other computers (a powerbook and a desktop running on vista) don't have any problems. However my internet connection, although connected, is really really slow. takes about 5 minutes for any site to load up.

In addition to that, i couldnt get malwarebytes anti malware to start up. so i deleted it and tried to reinstall, but i cant even run the install file. Spybot S&D wont start either. I can access everything but the actual main window. I uninstalled and reinstalled this successfully but there were no changes.

Also, every time i start up my computer, i get a registry change message from spybot saying there is an added value to a macromedia folder in my local settings folder. i've been denying this change every time

Alright. so i wrote a fricking novel, but hopefully someone can provide me some answers. It would be MUCH appreciated. I have a few projects on hold at the moment that need to be finished by the end of the week

Please read every bit of this, as I try to be as detailed as possible. This started about three days ago.First, the fake programs:Windows Antivirus ProAdvanced Virus RemoverSome red X in the system tray that displays "Your computer is infected! Windows has detected spyware infection! It is recommended to use special antispyware tools to prevent data loss. Windows will now download and install the most up-to-date antispyware for you." (Gotta love the obvious misspellings and grammatical errors).Secondly, the Task Manager is disabled. So I go ahead and try some virus programs. None of them can get a few seconds into the scan without terminating such as MBAM and SpyNoMore (from what SpyNoMore showed while scanning, I saw the file that disabled the task manager and "Advanced Virus Remover", so if I could somehow get that to do a complete scan, I'm pretty sure it could work.)I came across a program that did, however, do a complete scan. It was called A-Squared. When I began to quarantine the files, though, the window where it says there has been a fatal error and Windows must terminate with the countdown from 1:00 occurs. After that, If I boot up my computer again, explorer.exe is gone AND the task manager is disabled. So I had to boot it up in Safe Mode with Command Prompt. I then took Browse function in the "Select program to op... Read more

HiI hope someone can help. I got the XP Antivirus 2012 bug last night and FINALLY was able to run malware in safe mode. Looks like I got rid of the bug, but now when I go to my programs, they either won't open or I get a screen asking which program to open them in.While fooling around hitting F8 I also opened in normal mode and last working progress.Anyone know how to fix this now?? Obviously, I am not great at fixing computers!!Thanks in advance for any feedback!!KymeeEdit: Moved topic from Introductions to the more appropriate forum. ~ Animal

A:Cannot Open Programs After XP Antivirus 2012

Please download FixExe.reg and save it to your Desktop.Double-click on that file to run.
Vista/Windows 7 users right-click and select Run As Administrator.Choose "Yes" when prompted to add it into the registry.Once that is completed you should be able to run other programs. If you cannot use the Internet or download the file to the infected machine, try downloading from another computer (family member, friend, library, etc) with an Internet connection. Save to a flash (usb, pen, thumb, jump) drive or CD, transfer to the infected machine.IMPORTANT NOTE: Scanning with Malwarebytes Anti-Malware in safe or normal mode will work but removal functions are not as powerful in safe mode. Why? Malwarebytes is designed to be at full power when malware is running so safe mode is not necessary when using it. In fact, Malwarebytes loses some effectiveness for detection & removal when used in safe mode because the program includes a special driver which does not work in safe mode. Further, scanning in safe mode prevents some types of malware from running so it may be missed during the detection process. For optimal removal, normal mode is recommended so it does not limit the abilities of Malwarebytes but sometimes there is no alternative but to do a safe mode scan. If that is the case, after completing a safe mode scan, reboot normally, update the database definitions through the program's interface (preferable method) and try rescanning again.

Whenever I try to open any program besides Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox, the program will not open. The hour glass icon pops up to show it is loading but it goes away after a few seconds and nothing happens. If I try to install a program, it does the same thing. I have downloaded a couple different antivirus programs, including Spybot S&D and iolo System Shield 3. I also am paying for antivirus through Verizon, my internet service provider, but I have to download the program and install it, which will not work. I don't know what else to do, because I have antivirus programs, but I cannot install or use them.

If someone could help me, that would be great. Thanks for your help and time, and sorry for the long post.

Recently I am unable to open the Store app. After a small Windows 10 update, I have been unable to access the store. When I open the start menu and click the icon, it is unresponsive. Also when I go through my apps, it wont open when clicked there. I even had it pinned to my toolbar and the icon disappeared but left space and when I clicked there, I got an error message. Also, as I was typing this, my toolbar began being difficult. Certain things like the start icon, the calculator icon, or the internet explorer icon wont open when clicked. But the google chrome and the file explorer icons work well. I am not sure if there is a way for me to update the Store app or get it to launch through a browser or do I have to wait till another Windows 10 update to fix my problem.

Thank you for any advice or help in advance.

What happens when you try and open the program? Are receiving an error message? If so post full message.

Boot into Safe Mode and see if you are able to open the programs.

Does this affect all user accounts?

Try running a System Restore back to a previous date when the PC was working correctly.

Just today Spyware Doctor picked up something on my PC. Something got downloaded(spyware/virus) and changed my Internet Explorer tool bar (new icons and a search bar got added) and new icons installed themselves on my desktop. I went through most programs and deleted the programs out of my system but my tool bar would not change, so I ran Spyware Doctor it came back with quite a few things, I reviewed all items(nothing was out of the ordinary) so everything was deleted. I restarted my PC and now everytime it comes on the hour glass will not go away like something is loading but only on the windows task bar. I tried everything and the only way anything will work is in safe mode. I am no computer genious but I know the basics.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I visited a site that gave me a virus before. I had just installed avast antivirus and wanted to see if it worked bad idea. When at this site a small java window opened and the laptop shut down. No programs would respond explorer 64 bit was the only program that would run but adobe flash player would not. I reset the system to the day before the problem arose but that did not work. Any ideas I'm pretty bad with computers.

Can you boot into safe mode? For that you need to tap F8 repeatedly at boot. Run avast in safe mode. If you have access to another computer, download freeware malwarebytes antimalware, then copy it to the infected computer's hard disk via a usb stick and run it, run in safe mode if you cant work at all in regular mode.

You can also try running an antivirus rescue disk. See here.

Hello,

So you are able to open programs in Safe Mode?

What happens when you try and open a program? Do you get any error messages?

Possible that the PC may still be infected with malware.

Do you have the Windows 7 re-installation CD?

I just did my first computer build and seem to have a problem i think is a vista problem.

If I leave my computer on over night or for an extended period of time I can not open any program. I mean I will try to open internet explorer and nothing will happen, it does that will any program. I can't even restart the computer from vista, I need to manually shut her down since when i click on restart nothing happens. It just wont let me do anything but it's not frozen, i can move the mouse and select things like normal.

Once I reboot though everything is fine till the next time it sits over night.

What could the problem be?

After computer sits for a while expecially overnight i have to reboot to get ANY programs to open. i have contacted Hp and they had me disable most processes and startups but it still does it. I have to click on reboot several times to get it to start. i have disabled the display and sleep shutdown to NEVER. I have upgrade my Nvidia drivers last night and still does it.
I use AVG virus scan and Pro version of Advanced System Care. I really dont like shutting down services as they were designed for a specific function. I have not disabled any microsoft services though.
I have only had this unit for about 6 months .

I wonder if the Windows 7 registry cleaner and repair in Advanced System Care might have broken something?

Hey everyone. First time posting!

Here are my symptoms:

First of all, when I start the computer in normal mode, I get an error. "explorer.exe: The application failed to initialize properly (Oxc0000005)" However, this error does not occur in safemode. I can get back to the explorer in normal mode through the taskmanager: run: explorer.exe.

Now regarding the browser: Google redirects me whenever I try to go to an anti-virus website. Including this site!! (I'm posting from my Dad's computer). This occurs in both IE7 and Firefox.

In addition to this, Whenever I try to start an antivirus program, the process appears in the task manager, but no window will pop up. This occurs with SpybotS&D and Combofix.exe and Malwarebytes. This happens in normal AND safemode.

As you can imagine this is very frustrating. Thank goodness RSIT ran and gave me some logs, or I'd be SOL.

Here are the logs. My computer is a Dell Inspiron 6000 laptop running XP SP2 Pro with BSafe filtering.

Thanks in advance guys.

A:google redirects, cant open/run antivirus programs

Hello Pennyman,Sorry about the delay. If you still need help, please post a new HijackThis log to make sure nothing has changed, and I'll be happy to look at it for you. Thanks, tea
