I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I recall enabling some sort of monitor/feedback to MS service after or during the update from win 8 pro to win 8.1 pro. But I dont recall what it was called.

Now my cpu is running 50%+ much of the time for no apparent reason.

Windows Host Process Tasks .... or some such thing shows in the Task Mgr when it is throttling my cpu....and runnig it 50%+.

How can I find and disable the service that is causing this?

Thanks.

Hi all, i just got a brand new yoga 910 from the lenovo store and was running it through its paces.First off, I'm not noticing any fan noise issues at idle - mid load. So that's a relieve. However, I've noticed some slow downs during sustained load (CPU @ 80-100%).  The CPU reaches around 91 degrees celcius after a while and then throttles the clock speed back to 400 mhz for a few (5-10) seconds until the processor package has cooled down enough. It'll then speed back up to 3.2 - 3.4 ghz until it reaches 91c again.  I'm pretty sure i'm encountering thermal throttling due to a cooling issue. However, I find it strange that the CPU doesn't power down to a sustainable clock speed.  Has anybody else encountered this?  When I limit the CPU to a maximum processor state of 99%, it doesn't boost and stick to ~2.8 ghzI've got the latest bios version installed and the issue occurs both in balanced and high perf mode. Haven't tried quiet yet. CPU: i7-7500u Temp Monitoring: Open Hardware MonitorClock Speed Monitoring: CPU-Z

A:Yoga 910 cpu throttling to 400 mhz

quite mode seems to be much less agressive when it comes to boosting clock speeds. It keeps the CPU just below 3 ghz under sustained 100% load.I guess the other modes (balanced and high perf) will only work if your cpu is up to the task (be lucky, get a good cpu)

Having Throttle issues. I bought the yoga 730 15 and in the Passmark benchmark I got:9013 for CPU3969 for 3D Graphics I had recently returned an "ASUS VivoBook Pro 17 N705UD-EH76" which has very similar specs (same CPU and GPU) but with that one I got:10355 for CPU4121 for 3D Graphics  I don't see any reason for this to happen except Lenovo throttling the CPU/GPU or perhaps having bad thermals. If it is the former, would it be possible to get an update of the BIOS?

Hi guys, One short question... I'm planning on buying the Lenovo Yoga 730-15 with GTX 1050 4GB, but on the internet i read a lot of stories about throttling during gaming. Games therefore run anything but smoothly while the hardware of the laptop should be capable of doing so. I wondered whether this problem has been solved or whether this has only occurred within a particular batch maybe? Best regards,  Jurrien

I have a problem with the performance of my Lenovo X1 Yoga 3rd generation. The CPU performance is throttled when core temperature reaches 85C. The i7-8550u processor is not supposed to throttle until it reaches 100C (and this is also what other X1Y3 owners seem to report), but for some reason my specific laptop is configured differently. In addition, the fan fails to spin up during heavy load, probably because it is temperature controlled. This causes additional throttling. The result is that my laptop performs poorly under heavy CPU load. I have attached a screenshot from Throttlestop, which displays the temperature the CPU is configured to throttle at. I have tried updating to the latest firmware and I have updated all drivers, but the problem persists. Can I do anything to resolve this issue?

I have recently bought a Yoga 520 with an Intel Core i5-8250U and Geforce 940MX and so far I have been impressed with it except for one thing : Under a short, full load, the CPU throttles really, really bad. It would start strong and around 2.6-3.4Ghz but then around 2-3 minutes later it would stay at 1.6Ghz. Once it hits 1.6Ghz, it won't clock any higher even if the temperature/load has been back to normal unless i reboot it. I have tried to update the BIOS and even relpacing the thermal paste with a high-performance one and it still throttles. My question is, is this normal? I see no reason for throttling the CPU since the thermal headroom is still plenty when its under load (around 66 degrees celcius). Or perhaps does Lenovo implemented a specific power management? such as setting the CPU cTDP-down to 10W-12W instead of the normal 15W? My reasoning for this is that the HWmonitor reading for the CPU power never really exceeds 11 Watts once it's under full load.

Is it possible to raise the cTDP of the Yoga 370?Currently my i3 throttles at a low 60 degrees celsius because of a 10W cTDP. I am sure the cooling system can take a higher temperature of 70 degrees safely. I have used Throttlestop to confirm that the limit is due to cTDP and not temperature (i processors can run way hotter safely). When throttling at 10W my i3 (without Turbo Boost) cannot maintain clock speeds. I'm sure this is worse for those with i5 and above so please increase the cTDP. If 15W is too high maybe 12-13W instead of the current 10W will help a lot. My readings were taken when plugged in and on all high performance settings enabled. This is important as with the 10W cTDP limit active, the CPU runs between 1.4-1.6ghz under load which is a drastic drop and not necessary since temperature is only 60 degrees celsius.

Hi, for few month I have i7 7700 with nVidia 1050 configuration, while running any CPU intensive task it drops frequency to 75% of usage, to keep temperature lower, it should be 2.8 GHz, but here for example:  - convert video with Handbrake: https://prnt.sc/joe25s - aida CPU: https://prnt.sc/jn4z0w , https://prnt.sc/jn4zlf  - aida CPU + GPU - 50% drop!!! : https://prnt.sc/jmzfet I expected fans will be loud to keep performance level, but here it's disappointing  Any advice? Is it normal or should I got o servise?

A:Yoga 720 15 what throttling CPU level is normal?

Hello.I have done a bit of research about your laptop, and here are my sayings:Does your laptop feel hot to the touch when you are using intensive application, or it's just comfortably warm, or a bit cool?If it is just comfortably warm, or a bit cool or so, then the probable reason why your CPU and GPU drops frequency is to save battery life, and so that your laptop won't heat too much. Also this is part of the Nvidia Optimus Technology where it switches graphics from integrated (Intel) to dedicated (Nvidia) and vice versa. It would only use the dedicated GPU once you are using an intensive application like gaming or video editing software. The fan of the Lenovo Yoga 720 is actually a bit quiet, even when running those intensive apps.Try plugging in your battery with an AC Adapter and see if the CPU and GPU remain at 100% consistently.I have this with my Lenovo Ideapad 320 and whenever I unplug the battery, after some time both the CPU and GPU starts to reduce its frequency and performance, and it made my game lag. Plugging it back actually solved the issue.

So Yoga 2 11 is having an overheating issue. Anytime I take the laptop off charge it feels like the battery heats up and then Windows slows down and freezes to a stutter. Other times the laptop comes to a stutter when in a warm environment as well.     I always have to be extremely careful not to let my Yoga 2 11 run hot and it really limits its use. Does anyone else have overheating problems with this laptop?

Hi, I got a problem with my X! Yoga 3rd gen which I cannot resolve on my own. Perhaps somebody has a hint for me. I got a Unit with the 17.8550u. On AC power it delivers superb performance. However when on DC, the system is throttled to 0.99ghz max, no matter waht. I already set all bios settings for Thermal management to max performance and I updated all drivers and bios. I only have the balanced power-plan installed on windows. As far as i understand Microsoft has changed the conecpt of power management recently, so there is no "Performance" power plan any more and also no settings for the min/max CPU performance.Using the new settings (right click on the battery icon, selecting Best Performance) also brings no improvment, the cpu ist capped to 0.,99 GHZ Has anybody an Idea how to solve the Problem?

Any ideas how to stop the laptop slowing down at low battery?

Concerns Thinkpad Yoga X1 Gen 2, Win 10 When I use my X1 Yoga in flipped over mode (keyboard is facing down), I noticed that it runs considerably slower. It is not actually the Windows tablet mode. I have another screen connected and use it with keyboard and mouse in normal desktop mode. When flipped over, under load the CPU frequency seems to be limited to around 1.9-2 GHz. When I use the laptop in "normal mode" (keyboard facing up), the same settings and tasks lead to CPU frequencies above 3 GHz. I read about related issues with Yoga laptops and the suggestions to turn off DPTF. However, this setting is not available in the UEFI BIOS for the X1 Yoga Gen.2. Is there any other solution to this? I would like to have the laptop run as fast in either mode so that I can use it as a secondary screen. Is there a possibility to use throttlestop or Intel XTU to stop the throttling in Yoga mode? Thanks!

Hi, I just got a new Thinkpad X1 Yoga and I would be happy so far, if it was not for the severe thermal throttling. I checked with throttlestop and the PROCHOT (so the temperature at which the CPU thermal throttles) is set to 85C. This is far too low and should rather be 95C or 100C. Is this normal for this machine? I updated BIOS to the latest one (1.27) - no change.

This may be a one off, but I thought I'd report it just in case anyone else comes across it. Scenario - Disabled wifi, logged off, closed laptop- Got to work, connected X1Y3 to TB3 dock (connected to ethernet, iPhone connected to TB3 dock)- Pressed key on attached USB keyboard to wake the laptop, logged in From that point on the fan would basically not come on, the CPU refused to go above 2GHz, and when launching a bunch of 'apps' the CPU would throttle down to as low as 0.5GHz, while CPU utilization wouldn't go above ~25%. That way the system kept the CPU temperatures below 65C seemingly without using the fan. I wasn't able to see any settings in Windows power settings or in the Vantage app where I could adjust this behavior.  Needless to say performance was terrible. A reboot fixed this. It kind of looks like the X1Y3 got stuck in the "on battery power" plan, not sure how this could have happened. Any suggestions on where to find the settings corresponding to this incredibly conservative power plan? Or is there a chance this was not a power plan but rather a case of 'the fan didn't work'?  Preliminary theory: maybe the fact that the iPhone was on the TB3 dock plays a role here, since charging the iPhone draws significant power. I wonder if the X1Y3 can be tricked into thinking that it's on battery power when the TB3 dock can't deliver sufficient power on wake. This might explain getting stuck in the 'battery mode' if subsequently the ... Read more

My Lenovo 730 15 has the overheating/throttling issue while gaming (see the attached screenshot). It is clearly related to the high CPU temperature up to 100C (pink) during the GPU load (dark green) while the temperature in the room is 25C. Since both CPU and GPU use the same heat pipes, the increase in GPU temperatue (blue) leads to the increase in CPU temperature (pink). The power plan has stock settings (turbo boost on and no undervolting) but looking at the CPU frequency (salad green) it's almost not turbo boosting. The base frequency of i7-8550u is 1.8 Ghz and it stays below it during gaming. My question is why putting GTX 1050 in the chassis that cannot handle its thermal load? I have to admit that the fans aren't too loud (Intellegent Cooling in Lenovo Vantage is on) so it could be one of the reasons. I'm going to replace it with another unit and see if the problem persists. Could anyone reply if you have similar issues?

Hi everyone, I work on the helpdesk of a company and one of my users has been having an issue. He has an Elite Book 8460p and just recently started having issues with the touchpad on his computer. When he double clicks the upper left corner of the touchpad nothing happens. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers for the Synaptics Touchpad twice, with drivers directly from the HP site. I have also switch the user's hard drive to another 8460p but the same issue happens. I have attempted to disable the touchpad in the Synaptics Device Options under the Mouse section in the Control Panel. After I hit the Disable button, it does turn the touchpad off for a time, but it seems to turn itself back on randomly. I would disable it, apply and hit OK to close the windows, test the touchpad and it would reenable itself. Has anyone else seen a problem similar to this? I was hoping there was a way to disable it in the BIOS, but I did not see anything.

The advertising says that the Yoga Book will take up to a 128GB MicroSD card but it won't work with my 64GB card. It appears that it requires the card to be formatted as FAT32 to be compatible but FAT32 only supports devices up to 32GB.  After several attempts I re-partitioned my card using a PC with a 32Gb partition and formatted that as FAT32.  Success. It would also be very useful if there was some technical support in the UK. No phone support, no email support, no chat support; why, when we are paying more in the UK than people in the US who get all the support channels?
