Q: Need Help DESPERATELY! Job depends on it!

I hope someone will help. I have wasted so much time today.
Someone else used my computer (I know, I know) and got the stupid malware newnet on it. I went and run the "fix" for it which then promptly destroyed all my internet connections and I cannot get them back. I have no idea how to proceed. Going through the IE wizard does nothing. I have DSL, and of course normally just have to click on the IE icon to open Google (or whatever)....now no page comes up no matter what I choose.
I cannot reinstall Windows completely as I have not backed up in a long time and it would take me days to complete that....so that's not an option at this moment. (I have to work on this computer in the morning.) Can someone plllllllease tell me what to do?
Thanks in advance!

Preferred Solution: Need Help DESPERATELY! Job depends on it!

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello all!
I have a serious problem with a program that my job uses. It is a virtual machine, which allows me to run a separate "machine" within my own. They use this so my personal side of my pc doesn't interfere with the business side, and vice versa. Well, I have downloaded the files several times now, and they appear to dl just fine. Until I run the setup.exe. Then I get an error "1334" every time. I have seen some forums online about this issue, but none that were helpful. The error tells me that it could be a network problem, or a problem with the package. The package comes in .cab files, and each time I re download the package, a different cab malfunctions. My trainer thinks it could be my security, so I disabled it and re did the download. No good. I worked with tech support til almost 1am last night to no avail. I was informed that if I could not figure out what was wrong with my system, or obtain a different system, my job may be at stake. Can someone help me please??

Can you be more specific as to what virtual machine, where you downloaded from, and what security may be interfering.

Oh please someone save my bacon!!!!!

I have a new job with a Time Share Resort. In these trying times, I'm trying to make the best impression I can. I am building an Excel Spread sheet that will allow others to enter data that I will then compile and create reports with.I just can't figure out how to write this formula or if it can even be accomplished. I have 1 column (Column A) that other users will populate with Room numbers. I would then like the second column (Column B) to auto populate with a Home owner's association number and a 3rd column (Column C) to auto populate with the average rack rate for that room that referenced from hidden columns. I have 3 pre-populated columns hidden, titled (Column R) Room Numbers (Column S) HOA numbers and (Column T) average Rack Rates. The Rows in the columns (R, S, and T) reference each other: example: If R1 is Room # 1001, then S1 is HOA 1, and T1 is $212.00. So if someone types in 1001 in A7, then the data that corresponds from Column R, in this case 1001 will reference Column S and Column T and auto populate that info into Column B7 and Column C7, respectfully. Is this impossible to do? Or is there a simple formula or macro that can be written to accomplish this?

I truly, truly appreciate any assistance I can get!

Download Deckard's System Scanner (DSS) to your Desktop.

What DSS will do:create a new System Restore point in Windows XP and Vista.
clean your Temporary Files, Downloaded Program Files, and Internet Cache Files, and also empty the Recycle Bin on all drives.
check some important areas of your system and produce a report for your analyst to review.
DSS automatically runs HijackThis for you, but it will also install and place a shortcut to HijackThis on your desktop if you do not already have HijackThis installed.

Hi,

I've instaled Win 7 as a second system next to My Vista (both x64). Now I'm emotionally ready to get rid of Vista for number of reasons. Of course Win7 become fully operational and "personalized" system so I don't wont to reinstal Win7...just remove Vista. But my Win7 needs Vista's partition. In magazine I have following description:
"Vista name" D:
(size)
healthy (System, Active, Primary)

"Win7 name" C:
(size)
healthy (Boot, Pagefile, backup, primary)

How can I move "required stuff" to C: to be able to delete D: partition?

thanks
Muzzy

A:Win7 Partition depends on Vista's one

Hello Muzzy, welcome to Seven Forums!

Before we make any specific recommendations will you please post a snip/screen-shot of the entire disk management drive map with a full description as to which drive/partition is which, so we can see what you have going on as there may be a fairly simple way to resolve the situation.

In the Windows start menu right click computer and click manage, in the left pane of the "Computer Management" window that opens click disk management and post a snip of that.

Thank you in advance for any help-

Recently I was working on a document with MS Word 2007 when I suddenly received several save related errors regarding my C drive.

The auto-recovery kicked in and I closed the program and restarted the computer. When I returned to open the document in Word, the file was missing. When I tried to open it from the recently opened files drop down, it said "the file could not be found c:\blah"

From my research and from this link:
http://forums.techguy.org/business-applications/632612-disappearing-word-files.html

I think this issue sounds like the Marker virus- and the date that it happened also seems to be evidence to this fact.
A .tmp file also now has a missing path name which I suspect is the one associated with the file I need.
In addition there is an xml file for what I believe may be my document that remanis however it wont open either- Word says this file is corrupt.
Can anyone offer any solution or ideas on how to recover this document?

thanks so much,
Mike

Hi folks. depends.exe will not function on my Vista Ultimate x64. Any program I try to start has an error finding IESHIMS.DLL. The program will not profile as a consequence. There is a search sequence that could be modified but this DLL is not within the list.

Search results as a screenshot is attached. There are about 10 of these DLLs with varying dates, locations and versions. The machine runs very well otherwise; no administrative errors in the logs.

The reason this program is being used was spurred on by a Nero tech who supposedly found an error in the Nero 9 diagnostics CAB file. The complaint was that I could not view an MOV in Showtime. I think it is the file which was downloaded from Frostwire. Nero does everything else perfectly. I would still like to get depends to work for general knowledge and future diagnostics.

I cannot find this problem anywhere on the net or in this forum. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Ok gang, I have one that really is throwing me for a loop. One computer in my company is having difficulties in sending e-mails through Outlook 2007 running POP3. The part that has me scratching my head is that everything works fine while the computer is connected here in our office, but whenever she leaves, she has intermittent sending issues... it just hangs in the ourbox. It works for the first few minutes then stops sending them out. I have searched all through the Microsoft site and couldn't find anything that related.

Any ideas on what to look for?

A:Outlook 2007 - e-mail stuck in outbox (depends on ISP)...

I had a similar issue, though it may not be the same.

Some ISP's (like AT&T, who I hate and despise and upon whom I heap curses and incantations of evil) won't let you use any SMTP server other than theirs to send mail, even if the e-mail account isn't with them. You have to go through a whole rigamaroll to set it up.

But like I said, your issue may be (and probably is) something different. Are there any error messages?

Hi,

I know this is probably a rather tiresome query, but I've surfed the net endlessly and not found a solution. I'm attempting to populate a memo box, which depends on user choice from a chain of combo boxes (unbound).

I'm creating a classroom planning/assessment database application (the new Learning Essentials for those involved in Australian Education). The system I'm creating, database-wise, is a little complicated (I am an absolute self-taught beginner, so please be kind and precise with your terminology, explaining where I should find the tools you mention). We have 7 "KLAs", which are each chosen with an "Assessable Element" (depending on the KLA) for each grade, which each act as an umbrella for a number of "Knowledge and Understandings" (each K & U has a descriptor of more than 255 characters. Under each "Knowledge and Understanding" is a dozen or so "Detailed Elements" (that the kids get assessed on). So I have the following hierarchy of tables:

KLA
Assessable Elements
Year (or Grade in America-speak)
Ways of Working (differing and dependent on previous choices)
Knowledge and Understandings (includes the descriptor)
Detailed Elements

Each table is linked in hierarchy to the one above via foreign keys (and sometimes to more than one table above (my description is the simplified version - it's more complicated than that). So you can imaging that the KLAs table is quite small (only 7 re... Read more

Hello and thank you for taking time to help me with my computer issue,

I am in no way a computer "smart" person, and will need help step by step, as I am unfamiliar with most terms. Please forgive my ignorance....

Here are my problems...I just got hired (today as a matter of fact, that's why I am freaking out about this) on to a new work-at-home job that will involve using my computer daily starting tomorrow, but have found it to be a MAJOR problem to actually do anything serious on it and need help ASAP.

I just erased 2 virus scanners on my computer and left Malewarebytes' Anti-Malware, so there was no conflict between the 3. I had Windows Defender and Ad-Adware. So the only thing I have left on my computer is Malewarebytes'.

EVERY single time I scan my computer, (I also would get the BSOD when I scanned with the other 2 virus protections as well), whether it be a full system scan or quick scan, I get the "Blue screen of death." It only happens after the scan is complete and is asking me to restart my computer.

I also cannot Google any webpage without it redirecting me to another webpage. No matter what I do, I am constantly being redirected. I use Firefox and sometimes Internet Explorer. Both do the same thing. The only way I can... Read more

Hi barmardiv,

Please note that these fixes are not instantaneous. Most infections require more than one round to properly eradicate.

Please stay with me until given the 'all clear' even if symptoms seemingly abate.

Kindly follow my instructions and please do no fixing on your own or running of scanners unless requested by a helper.

Let's start with Combofix.

1. Download ComboFix from one of these locations:

* IMPORTANT !!! Place combofix.exe on your Desktop
2. Disable your AntiVirus and AntiSpyware applications, usually via a right click on the System Tray icon. They may otherwise interfere with ComboFix.
You can get help on disabling your protection programs here

3. Double click on combofix.exe & follow the prompts.
Note: Windows Vista users will have to right-click on the file and select "Run as Administrator"

4. As part of it's process, ComboFix will check to see if the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed.

Please note: If the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is already installed, ComboFix will continue it's malware removal procedures.

3. Double click the Mwav.exe file.(This is a stand alone tool and NOT just a virus checker......so it won't install anything)

5. In the Virus Log Information Pane......
Left click and Highlight all the info in the Lower pane--- Use "CTRL C" on your Keyboard to copy all found in the lower pane and save it to a notepad file

*Note* If prompted that a Virus was found and you need to purchase the product to remove the malware, just close out the prompt and let it continue scanning.

Welcome to TSF.

This one is tricky. We'll need other logs from you (see below). Do the HijackThis fixes first. Then post that log along with the other ones.

Please print out or copy this page to Notepad. Make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order it is mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes. You should not have any open browsers when you are following the procedures below.

Go to My Computer->Tools/View->Folder Options->View tab and make sure that 'Show hidden files and folders' (or 'Show all files') is enabled. Also make sure that Display the contents of System Folders' is checked. Windows XP's search feature is a little different. When you click on 'All files and folders' on the left pane, click on the 'More advanced options' at the bottom. Make sure that Search system folders, Search hidden files and folders, and Search subfolders are checked.

For the options that you checked/enabled earlier, you may uncheck them after your log is clean. If we ask you to fix a program that you use or want to keep, please post back saying that (we don't know every program that exists, so we may tell you to delete a program that we think is bad to keep).

Turn off system restore by right clicking on My Computer and go to Properties->System Restore and check the box for Turn off System Restore. Click Apply and then OK. Restart your computer. After we are finished w... Read more

So, I have this computer, i mainly use it for gaming, back when it was brand new, i could run most games (one prime example is FO: NV) with little to no lag.
But then somewhere along the way something happened, now whenever i try to run said game, it will start off fine for a little while, but then after i have been playing 3-5 minutes, i get a lag spike that makes any game unplayable. If i wait for a while it does go away, only to return again in another 3-5 minutes. At first I thought this was a malware/virus or something, so I used a system recovery to restore it back to factory condition. Reinstalled fallout, and somehow, this problem is still there!
If anyone could help me solve this I would be so grateful!

Hi People

well i hope somebody can help because im close to pulling my hair out !

ive built my own system recently,

AMD Phenom II X2 560 (3.3Ghz) Black edition
MSI 870A-G54 mobo
ATI HD 5770 1gb graphics

im using my power supply from previous computer ( left in my old case ) also using same ATX case
same harddrive 250gb ( about 2 yr old)

well for the past week i couldnt even reach the bios, after days i realised i hadnt plugged in an extra 4 pin connector as well as the 24pin on my mobo, ( DUUUR)

this morning i figured this out and it booted successfully, got into bios, installed windows 7 ultimate.

i installed the driver for motherboard and graphics etc

i went to install windows updates, it got about 3/4 of the way then started to install ATI display driver, screen flickered black, then it reset my resolution and told me NO DISPLAY DRIVER INSTALLED. which was weird as i had just installed the whole catalyst control center etc.

anyway... it came up with an error box basically saying, your graphics is working incorrectly.

seeing as it is a new graphics card and i know it works as i used it in my old system for near 2 weeks...

then i continued with the last 2 updates to download and install then clicked restart system now, to continue with windows7 updates, on trying to restart the system crashed, black screen wudnt do nothing, had to turn off manually after waiting about 15 mins to turn off ( which with it b... Please download SDFix from here and save it to your desktop

Double click SDFix.exe and it will extract the files to %systemdrive%
(Drive that contains the Windows Directory, typically C:\SDFix)

Please then reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following :
Restart your computer
After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, tap the F8 key continually;
Instead of Windows loading as normal, the Advanced Options Menu should appear;
Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode, then press Enter.
Choose your usual account.

Open the extracted SDFix folder and double click RunThis.bat to start the script.
Type Y to begin the cleanup process.
It will remove any Trojan Services and Registry Entries that it finds then prompt you to press any key to Reboot.
Press any Key and it will restart the PC.
When the PC restarts the Fixtool will run again and complete the removal process then display Finished, press any key to end the script and load your desktop icons.
Once the desktop icons load the SDFix report will open on screen and also save into the SDFix folder as Report.txt
(Report.txt will also be copied to Clipboard ready for posting back on the forum).
Post that log in your next reply.

A:desperately need help!

[tsg=welcome][/tsg]
What you are experiencing is not a lack on your part, but a security feature that the software manufacture has in place on the game, to keep people from pirating their software. If you have a legitimate reason to make a usable copy, then contact the software company directly, and they may tell you how to do it. Some company's, Like Infogrammes (Civilization 3), have a software utility they can make available to you to "unlock" the security.

Hacking into the code to enable the copy on your own would be an illegal activity.

Hey guys, I honestly have no clue what to do.
A few days ago, weird music/ads started playing on my computer even when chrome was not running. It would be from Ray William Johnson videos to music stations in America, to ads for movies..

I've scanned my PC with Avast and MalwareBytes and both didn't come up with anything, I've also looked at my task manager while this was occurring and didn't find any suspicious processes running.

If you need me to provide more info, such as a log etc I would be more than happy to do so.

Hi zoesmama1202005 welcome to TSF.

Please download HijackThis - this program will help us determine if there are any spyware/malware on your computer. Create a folder at C:\HJT and move HijackThis.exe there. Run a scan and save the log file. Get HijackThis Analyzer and save it to the same folder as the hijackthis.log file. Run HijackThis Analyzer and type in y if you agree. Open up the result.txt file created. Copy the whole result.txt log and post it back here. Do not fix anything in HijackThis since they may be harmless. Make sure to include the System information at the top of the log as well.

please post the log here on this thread so we can check the it

We also suggest that you Subscribe to this thread to be notified of fixes as soon as they are posted by our Team. You can do this simply by clicking the "Thread Tools" button located in the original thread line and selecting "Subscribe to this Thread".

I can't use the kaspersky anti-virus (it disabled it), I can't install a new one (saying I need admin rights, which I never had to), my wireless network has been disabled (due to the virus I presume) and every time I try to boot up in safe mode, it reboots the system. What can I do? I really need to work this out!

-my OS is windows VISTA... i'm getting alot of pop-ups (adult friend finder, sysprotect and alot of other pop-ups that keep saying things like "will scan system now", even though i close the windows), AND the computer is really slow now especially when im online.

-AVG scanning and windows defender are not detecting anything, and when AVG detected 3 trojans and healed them (and put them in the virus vault) i still faced the same problems afterwards and nothing changed

-I tried reading threads and downloaded hijackthis and vundofix:
-firstly vundofix did not detect anything
-this is the hijack this log

I desperately need some help. About a week or two ago, I discovered my computer was infected with something nasty, possibly a polymorphic file infector, possibly a Virut variant. To make matters worse, I inadvertently infected a relative's computer as well when I tried to back up some files I mistakenly thought were clean, meaning I've had this virus longer than I thought. After following the advice of a friend who's good with handling viruses and other tech stuff, I reformatted the second computer three times and reinstalled Windows (we're running Windows 2000 still) and my dad followed up by reinstalling the drivers and other things. I thought we were okay, but then on a hunch, I downloaded and ran ComboFix again, only to find that the computer is STILL infected! My friend suggested it might have infected the CMOS, or maybe ComboFix itself has a problem or is infected. The error that I get when running ComboFix is this:"Access to the specific device, path, or file is denied" 32788R22FWJFW\n.pifCF always detects that "comres.dll" is infected.I found the following when running other anti-virus programs on my own computer:Rising deleted a .doc file infected with "Hack.Exploit.CVE-2009-0565.a"Spybot found "virtumonde.sdn"Dr. Web CureIt found a backdoor, but couldn't successfully remove it. "BackDoor.Tdss.565" located in C:\winnt2\system32\drivers\atapi.sysDr. Web CureIt also had an... Read more

Hi im new here sorry for my 1st post needing help but im desperate.I was surfing the net as normal 2 days ago and my AVG(which is up2date) flashed up telling me i had a virus called startpage it was in my temporary internet files AVG caught & dealt with it. Last night the same thing happened again but with 4 different virus's called:
Trojan horse Downloader.small.4.BQ
Trojan horse Downloader.small.5.Y
Trojanhorse Downloader.Revop.A
Startpage (yet again)
I ran AVG and it supposedly caught & dealt with them I thought everything was fine and carried on as normal. This morning I booted my computer up and to my surprise AVG flshed up its lovely red box & the trojan horse virus is back I ran AVG once again but didnt come up with anything which I thought was weird as it already told me that I had it, I then did an online scan with RAVAntiVirus and it found it but couldnt clean up I couldnt get the panda activescan to work for some reason the site was down, as im writing this im running McAfee online scan and so far its found
W32/Bugbear.b!data
Thats come up twice in 2 different files and the scan is still running.
Does anybody know why my AVG isnt recognising these now and where I can disinfect on the net.
Any help is very very very much appreciated, Thanks!!

Hi and welcome to TSG,

Please do this. Click here: http://www.sherrylynn.us/HijackThis.exe to download Hijack This. It’s very important that you save it to its own folder on your hard drive, such as program files (not temporary files or the desktop), so that it can create proper back-ups and be able to restore them if necessary.

Close all open windows and open Hijack This. Click “Scan”. When the scan is finished (it only takes a second), the scan button will change to “Save Log”. Click on “Save Log” and save it to NotePad. Copy the entire log and paste it here.

DO NOT FIX ANYTHING YET, most items that appear in the log are harmless or even needed. Wait for someone to analyze the log and advise.
