Lenovo Y700-15 ISK duplicated NVIDIA card in device manager or BSOD after boot on AC adapter

Q: Lenovo Y700-15 ISK duplicated NVIDIA card in device manager or BSOD after boot on AC adapter

Hi, The problem I have with my Lenovo Y700 can be described by the following scenarios:1. After the PC being turned off for at least 10-15 minutes, I turn it on (AC adapter is plugged in), then I get either:a) a BSOD with Bugcheck code: 0x113 (0x19, 0x2, 0x10DE, 0x139B) and error VIDEO_DXGKRNL_FATAL_ERROR,b) a wrong NVIDIA graphics card detected, forming a second entry in device manager with different instance ID (the SUBSYS part is set to all zeroes) - Windows installs some old driver for itc) the right NVIDIA device detected, but without directx 12 properly enabled (when I run dxdiag, the supported version of directx is set to 11.4, not 12)After a restart everything goes back to normal - the right card, the right driver, the right directx (sometimes I need another restart because when correct card is detected, drivers are sometimes reinstalled). This lasts until I shut the PC down for another more than about 10 minutes - after that, everything starts again.2. If I turn the PC on and boot on battery and plug in my AC adapter only after Windows 10 loads, everything is fine from the get-go. I tried many things, like:- recovering the OS from base image- installing latest drivers (as well as using DDU)- installing only drivers from Lenovo support page- updating BIOS- changing BIOS settings (e.g. disabling fast startup, changing boot mode to legacy etc.)- taking out my second SSD (a PM961) connected to M.2 port - this seemed to soften the issue somehow, but I was still experiencing problems. None of these things worked. Anyone has this kind of issue or can suggest any possible resolution?

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

There are some of devices that were mission from device manager.
At first, there was a problem with wireless adapter, I couldn't enable it.
I tried to reinstall drivers serveral times, but it didn't fix the problem.
So i reformat my system, 2 times. the problem is still existing.
It's getting worst, now i can't find wireless network adapter, lan network adapter and card reader in device manager.
It is weird that sometime the  wireless adapter appears in device manger, those 2 devices come back too.
I am quite sure that my wireless adapter hardware is ok because i did replace new wireless adapter but the problem still exist.
I ran some antivirus tools, antimalware tools, non of them return infected.
The weirdest issue is that my wireless adapter comes with bluetooth adapter.
 but only bluetooth adapter can be used, it works perfectly fine.
Could you please take a look at this problem, im at the deadend. this is the weirdest problem i ever had with  my laptop and pc.
Thank you

So I recently installed Windows 8.1 and fully updated. But no matter how many times I uninstall "Microsoft Basic Display Adapter", the Windows isn't detecting my card to install the appropriate driver.

Back in the day when I first installed windows 8, the card was detected and it automatically installed Nvidia drivers from Windows update but not this time.

Anyone know how can I get the card to show up in the device manager?

One day it started flickering and then turned off, I just though ahh damn... But then the moniter didn't come on so i tryed another moniter and it didn't work either.

I Connected the moniter to the onboard VGS port (well the blue cord / port thing) and that worked fine.

What i didn't relise is the computer was now using the onboard graphics card instead of nvidia. (NOW MY WINDOWS RATING HAS GONE FRO 5.6 TO 3.3 BECAUSE OF GRAPHCIS CARD)

This has been posted before, I purchased this laptop over a year ago. I cannot pinpoint when the graphics card failed to function because this is not my primary gaming system. I can narrow it to within August of 2017. I rolled the firmware back to 1.0.1 and erased/reinstalled Windows 10 Home. The HDD, RAM, battery and any other optional upgrades are stock hardware. The Nvidia adapter is still not even a Unknown nor Hidden Device in Device Manager. I read on other posts this is probably a hardware issue, what are my options under Dell Support and their costs?

I don't know how and 2. which (bloatware) apps i can shut down and/or deinstall. For example: CS:GO runs perfectly, GTA:IV is lagging and i alwas have to switch some graphics options when i start the game until walls appear and stuff like that.

Hey everyone!Yesterday I bought the y700-15 w/ 8GB RAM, nVidia 960M and i5 processor. so after all that windows 10 updating stuff and deleting some bloatware i decided to download some games from steam. Garry's mod, GTA IV and GTA IV DLC's. Garry's mod works just fine (of course on Ultra settings ) but when i started GTA IV it didn't let me change anything in the graphic options. It immediatly jumps back to 800x600. i can't change a thing. Down to the bottom of that graphics settings it says that i'm using 220MB/100MB storage. Even though NVIDIA says that GTA is using the 960 i think it still uses the INTEL HD graphics. Before buying any other game, can somebody help me, please?(sorry for bad english, i'm german )

A:Lenovo y700-17isk, you are not currently using a display attached to an nvidia gpu!!???!!!!????????

Nvidia GPU is render unit only, and will not work without Intel GPU. That is why you cannot turn the Intel GPU off... Or even you can tear the Intel GPU off, you will see nothing as Nvidia GPU cannot work without it. As solution, it maynot help much because I have Y50-70 (although, Y700-17isk is very close relative). I suggest using all driver from Lenovo website. And do not update any driver, other then windows update (it will update but not to newest). You can atleast trust Windows update as most of the driver that did not work will be reverse to the working one (suggest by community and collected data). If both solution still not work try newest driver from both Intel and Nvidia, remember to install Intel first before Nvidia to make sure Nvidia GPU can communicate with Intel GPU (via Intel driver, obviously).

I'm using an Alienware M17x R4 with an Nvidia GeForce GTX 660m.

I've been using this laptop for about 3 months now and everything has been running fine. Yesterday, I was playing Skyrim testing out a new mod from nexusmods. I've read on the description and comments and there were no problems associated with the mod. While I was using it a received a BSOD. When I restarted the computer my resolution was reset. I right clicked on the desktop and the options for my Nvidia control panel were gone along with the other options for the Intel Graphics control panel.

After a while my first display adapter came back which was the Intel(R) HD Graphics 4000. I looked up as much as I could about the problem and it was usually associated with the display adapters being reverted to something like Standard VGA Adapter. This applied to the Intel graphics, but that was all. It was as if my graphics card vanished and I can't find it under device manager. When I try installing/reinstalling the Nvidia drivers it says that there is no Nvidia hardware. I've tried waiting a couple of hours with the laptop shut down, finding it in safemode, and searched for even more solutions. I can't seemed to find any. The last thing I did was check the BIOS and it said that the Discrete Graphics Card was not detected.

If anyone could help me it would be much appreciated.

I have an Inspiron 6000 (home) running XP and a Latitude D610 (XP) that I used to be able to use interchangably with a Comcast modem and a Netgear WGR614 router. A couple of weeks ago, my internet connections slowed and now have ended.

After several phone calls to Comcast, the last tech told me the problem was "the network address showing in the device manager is different than the network address that shows in the TCIP/IP settings." I am getting an error message of "network cable unplugged" on the Inspiron and the red X on the second of the two adapters (1st is 1394; 2nd is Broadcam 440x 10/100). I can get internet from the Latitude when directly connected to the cable modem, but not when routed through the router for wireless.

We have tried multiple reconfig of the IP, shutting everything down (computers, router, modem) all with no success. Any help anyone can provide would be great--I still need to order Christmas presents.

Hi,I have y700 15ISK 80NW laptop which has Nvidia 960m and Intel HD graphics 530. My problem is I cannot run some games such as Fifa 16 Rocket League.  I get errors. I guess it is happening because my laptop is trying to run games with Intel graphics card. Sometimes restarting laptop or disabling and enabling nvidia card from device manager can solve the problem. But after some hours or the next day I am having the same issue again. I tried -Installing latest drivers from Lenovo's website.-Installing latest drivers from Nvidia's and Intel's websites.-Re-installed games and formatted/clean installed windows 10. Nothing has worked.   When I first bought this laptop Windows 10 home was installed then I clean installed original Windows 10 Enterprise. Can this cause problem? Do I need to try installing Win10 home? One last thing, I wonder am I the only one having issues with graphics card on this laptop?

A:Y700 NVIDIA GRAPHICS CARD PROBLEM

That should not make a difference which build you use as its not a server version. However, being clean install you will have to be certain you have installed all the manatory driver and software Lenovo requires for it to run and manage the power properly. The Optimus Nvidia driver package would have a control center which is aware of games and turns it on automatically. If not then you manually configure it for specific applications. EG. You can have it run on the 960 with Chrome for example if you specify that.There are thread about controlling this if you search and maybe on Nvidia's website. Otherwise you may have to contact Lenovo Tech support for help if its new and in warranty. Controlling and changing the BIOS is a no no and you are asking for trouble.

Select your operating system from the drop-down list, expand the VGA category and download whichever drivers you want.

Hi all,

The "Display adapter" option is missing from my Device Manager. I did
re-install the OEM driver but it didn't help. I am mystified as to how to get it
to show up. I would like to install a new video card and I suspect I must
first resolve this software problem (already tried the card with no luck).

I had made some tweaks to WinXP some months ago in an effort to optimize it.
I don't remember what I did but I suspect that might have something to do
with it. I have looked through Microsoft and HP/Compaq support sites with
no luck. Any info I found seems to talk about using the Display Adapter to
make changes, not how to revive it.

My stock video drivers are loaded and working. Again, I just don't know how
to get Display Adapter to re-appear (and working) in Device Manager.

I ran a diagnostic app called AIDA32. Here are screen grabs of my:

* Windows Devices
* Physical Devices
* Device Resources
* Windows Video

Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can fix this issue? Any and all
suggestions are appreciated.

My System Specs:
* WinXP Home Ed, SP2 installed
* System: Compaq Presario SR1030NX
* Processor: AMD Athlon XP 3000+
* Processor Speed: 2166 MHz
* BIOS: KM400 / 3.03
* RAM: 512 MB
* Video Controller: VIA/S3G UniChrome Graphics

Every time I restart my computer, the TV Tuner card will toggle whether or not it is visible/installed/whatever in the device manager. If the card is working, once I restart, it will not work or appear in the device manager, and vice versa. The only way I have found to fix it is to restart again.

Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit Service Pack 1
GPU: Gigabyte 780
CPU: i7 4790
Mobo: Z87-G43 Gaming(MS-7816)

Problem:
Trying to install the latest Nvidia drivers from their homepage and failing to install. Device Manager points to error code 43 from the properties.

What I think triggered the problem:
I am assuming the source of the problem was when I last had my PC on while playing tales of Beseria, I had normal graphics on and then changed it to v-sync and moved from 8x anti aliasing to 16x, then I would see my screen turn full brown for 2-3 sec then it returns to the game, but then today 1 day later I tried playing Overwatch the same thing happened but instead of returning back to the game the computer just fully froze with no blue screen. I tried to restart my computer I logged on but after that my display turned off and stopped working. I then decided to go into the different methods above then I noticed my card constantly having Error Code 43.

Troubleshooting attempts:
I tried various of methods so far I will list a few such as: removing my graphic card for 10 min to stop electricity flow, using DDU and installing various versions of Nvidia Drivers 2017, Oct-Dec version, and version 376.60. In all the various Nvidia driver version numbers (all windows 7 and 64bit) they have all failed and cannot proceed with the installation (custom installation).

Currently thinking about purchasing a new card, but I think this card can still be fixed.

My computer, a Gateway I got new Feb 2001, came with an AGP NVidia card and Windows 98SE. I added two more monitors with no problems - each monitor was connected to a separate video card. The main monitor was connected to the NVidia, the second monitor to a Voodoo PCI card, and the third to a Trident PCI card. In June 2003 I upgraded to Windows 2000 Professional, at the finish of which my third monitor wouldn’t work because, as I learned later, the Trident card has no Windows 2000 drivers. When I disconnected the third monitor and removed the Trident card, however, my computer wouldn’t boot up; when I put the Trident card and third monitor back, the computer worked again. So I left it like that, with two monitors working, for several months while I shopped for another video card.

I did not notice until later that Device Driver listed “!Other Devices” with a mystery “!?PCI Device.” When I removed it and rebooted, it reappeared in Device Manager and the wizard to install new hardware would automatically start and install it, whatever it was. So I just left it there for a few months, since everything else on the computer seemed to work OK.

When I found a video card that was advertised to work in multiple-monitor setups (ATI Radeon 7000), I followed all the instructions to install it, but my computer wouldn’t finish the startup process when I tried to reboot. I tried all sorts of things in Safe Mode, finally uninstalled the Radeon card and its software, and also the Vood... Read more

A:extra NVidia driver in Device manager

I know it's been a year, but I just got it fixed last week. I went to a Microsoft-certified computer guy that just recently opened business locally. I had an unrelated problem for him, but I asked him to check out the extra video driver problem while he was at it. He fixed it, said it was probably something to do with my upgrading from 98 to 2000 - 2000 recognized something that 98 didn't. He did a chipset update (I think that's what he said). I don't know what else he did, but it's fixed now. No mystery device and no extra video driver in Device Manager.

The only gpu in device manager is the "Intel HD 4000",  I tried installing the NVIDIA Driver but it failed saying "NVIDIA CANNOT FIND COMPATIBLE HARDWARE", I tried resetting the PC and replaced the CMOS BATTERY , but to no avail.

Hello, Have been having issues with wake up after Hibernate on my P50 since the latest Windows updates. Took a look at Device Managers and selected View -> Show hidden devices and see a strange entry of a hidden Nvidia entry. See pic below. Do others show a similar behavior? why would there be two Nvidia devices - one hidden and one active? On my system, I've enabled discrete in bios and am using only Nvidia. Thanks,

A:Multiple Nvidia entries in Device Manager

what happens if you remove both and reboot, would both reappear?

I just formatted an old computer (1.15 ghz amd athalon 768 mb ram) with a new win xp home oem disk with a key I used from my shot eMachine. Everything was going fine it was getting late and I didn't have a chance to look at the client (my cousin's) internet connection. before connecting to the internet I installed quickbooks which shouldn't have anything to do with my problem but i thought I would mention it.
he hit IE "this page cannot blah blah blah" I asked him over the phone to go into device manager and go to network adapters but there isn't one. I told him to go to network connections and it only had what is in this picture attached http://vbulletin.thesite.org/attachment.php?attachmentid=6149&d=1108552413

Can you please help me. I need to do tech over the phone!

His OB(on board) sound wasn't working we used the driver disk that came with the eMachine and the realtek ac97 started working. There is still no internet. I thought that installing drivers for the OB sound card might help the OB network card. but the emachine disk isn't the right disk for this old towers motherboard.

I do not have this towers motherboard disk. please don't say this is a problem

Are there errors in Device Manager?
How is he connecting to the Internet? Dial-up? Broadband?
Did you install the appropriate hardware drivers for whatever device is needed to connect to the Internet?

I just got myself a new pc for my room. Everything runs good the gfx card is intergrated with the motherboard, which is asus M2A-VM. Its dual core 4200+ 2 gigs of ram. I Just too my recently bought gfx card out of my other pc which is pretty much the same as the pc i just explained except i dont think the motherboard is asus. Anyways when ever i insert my gfx card (Radean X1950 pro pci express) into the new pc i got and start up the pc it loads up with no display adapter group in the device manager. So I stick in my cd that came with the gfx card and try installing the display driver for it and no it doesnt work it says . Something about installing a simple vga driver and to try again. I would reinstall my chipset drivers but Since i got this pc from my friend for free i dont got no disc for it which would include chipset drivers like my older pc did i would think. Iv went to the asus site and downloaded the proper chipset drivers for my motherboard and still after installing them no change. It wont read my gfx card for some reason. Im thinking it must be tho since i got my monitor plugged into it and it works fine just says the monitor is on default. I dont know what to do iv tryed meny different things. Any ideas of how to fix this are welcome.

In the device manager I have only the Nvidia 9800M drivers and no Intel VGA drivers. I vaguely remember there being Intel VGA drives as well when I revived the computer. I have done a Gateway system restore and the the Device manager has the display adapter listed as Nvidia 9800M with no Intel VGA.

When I try to install Intel VGA UMA from the driver disk it says my computer does not meet the requirements and shuts down the installation program.

Any help would be wonderful.

A:VGA adapter missing in Device Manager

Hi thenerrus,

If you have a display on your laptop, the VGA is working. I seriously doubt you have two different video cards in that lap because they're not usually built that way, unless you had another on installed. The information you provided says you have an Nvidia card as your video adapter, trying to install the Intel drivers and having them fail also says you only have an Nvidia adapter installed.

So, unless you installed another video card or unsure what card you have installed in the laptop, I would suggest you look up your systems specs from the notebook manufacture and see what card is installed on the machine.

Good luck.

I have a geforce mx 4000 128 mb video card. I just installed Service pack 2 on windows xp professional.

After the install was done the picture quality was degraded and when i checked device amanager there was no display adapters. I can still get a 1200+ resolution but screens are choppy.

I reinstalled drivers from nvdia cd. The install was successful but nothing seemed to change. Still no display adapter in deveice manager.

I downloaded the latest drivers and got an error saying no compaible nvidia device was found on my computer.

I reseated the video card and that did no good.

What should I do next? Has this happeed to other people. I really need SP2 for asp.net 2.0 development (it is required for visual studio and sql server 2005), but the graphics quality is unacceptable and none of my games will run.

Medal of honor can't open OpenGL graphics and crashes. Please help!

When I open device manager, there is no option for network adapters, unless I click on show hidden devices.
My motherboard model is ASUS p7h55-m
I tried instaling drivers for my model of motherboard, but nothing worked.
Whenever I troubleshoot, it says that I need a driver for my network adapter.
I tried instaling Realtek ethernet controller driver. However it says that:"NO NETWORK CONTROLLER WAS FOUND, if deep sleep mode is enabled, please plug the cable".

I need some help! Been trying to fix this for the past 6 hours. This has happened after I formatted my PC! Also, I have no CD with my motherboard .. thanks so much.

I've installed windows 7 as upgrade to vista home premium in my Toshiba Satellite P205D-7802 laptop. Most everything seems to be running fine. My big problem is my network adapters (for wired and wireless - they are different) don't show up at all in the device manager?

I understand the whole installing a driver with compatibility mode but that seem quite impossible if the system does not even find the devices?

System was bought new 1 year ago with visa home premium and everything was working fine before the install. I have the drivers to install if I need the old vista drivers but it does not good.

I can install the drivers and when it gets done it says they are no good until the device is attached?

Any and all help is appreciated.

Hello to all. I recently had everything but the kitchen sink on my machine. Thankfully, with a little help from this forum, cleaned it up. But now I have a whole new problem. I cannot connect to the internet. In fact when I go to device manager I no longer have the 'Network adapters' option. I have tried to re-install my cable modem driver, but it goes to a file 'unknown' in device manager. I fear that the initial clean up has damaged or removed XP components. Plus, the machine will not perform a system restore. I would, as always, be eternally grateful for any help.

Hello,

After using system restore my internet connection has a red x. I have seen this before so I went into device manager so see what's up. There is no network adapter listed. I did a scan for hardware changed and nothing. I have an Atheros network driver folder on my desktop so I ran the setup.exe and it appeared to install the driver. After a reboot nothing happens.

The windows 7 troubleshooter tells me, "Windows did not detect a properly installed network adapter. If you have a network adapter, you will need to re-install the driver."

The LAN connection is on my Asus p5ql-pro motherboard and I have downloaded the most recent driver from the website.

please help.$

Was the driver you installed a win 7 driver? If not you need to install it in compatibility mode. To do that right click the installer>properties>compatibility>choose OS.

i don't know what happened, but the Nvidia card is not seen by the system, at all!
i tried a new driver from both Nvidia and Dell, the install could not detect the hardware
it still has "optimus" setting in the bios, enabled;  i tried turning that off and there was only black screen when i rebooted!   i fixed that part by removing the CMOS battery for a minute.
any help here?   i also tried an older BIOS, because i already have A17 the latest.
so now i have only the intel HD4000 graphics from the cpu.

Hi guys! I've just got notified for a new Nvidia update, but I tried to install it, all I got was a "Fail" messages. So I tried to perform a clean driver install. After the old driver was removed and the laptop restarted, the GeForce Experience continued installing the new driver, but again with no success (the installer was unable to find compatible hardware). When I checked with the Device Manager, I found out that the Nvidia card is completely gone (it's not even in the "Other Devices" section). Searched for a solution and found one, which requires adding my card's DEV and SUBSYS values to the driver's .INF files. Unfortunatelly, I can't do that, as like I said, the card is missing from the Device Manager and so I can't get those values. I've also tried to update the BIOS. Didn't went well and had to roll back to the old version. Any help is greatly appreciated! I'm running on Windows 10

I am pretty limited in computer knowledge and am having a problem after reinstalling my Dell Vostro 3500 with Windows 7 32 bit. Everything seems to be working fine and I have done all the updates and driver downloads but my Nvidia GeForce GT310M is not coming up in my device manager (performance is at a 1 rating) Instead all that is showing up is the "standard VGA graphics adapter." I have gone into the F2 menu on startup and it is listed but still doesn't show up on device manager. I have done some searching and can't seem to find a solution. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

A:Solved: NVidia GeForce 310m not in device manager

Standard VGA Adapter means that the graphics card driver is not installed. You just need to install the correct Geforce 310m driver from the manufacturer of the laptop.

Here's the drivers and software for the Vostro 3500: http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/us/en/04/Product/vostro-3500
Make sure you select Windows 7 32-bit and then download the drivers for the laptop. If you reinstalled Windows then the chances are pretty good that you need to install all the latest versions of each of the drivers from the Dell website to get proper functionality of the laptop.

Hello all,
Recently acquired a Latitude E6420.  Apparently my machine is the nicer variant, as it has an i7, 8GB of RAM, and an nVidia NVS 4200M GPU.  After loading all of the drivers, I headed over to device manager too make sure everything was in check.  This is when I noticed that my machine has both "Intel Graphics 3000" and "nVidia NVS 4200M" Listed under graphics adapters.  As both are recognized and both are apparently enabled, how do I know which is being used?  Do they work together? Apparently the NVS has better performance, so I'd like the system to default to this if possible.  Quite confused about the situation, any help/ insight would be much appreciated!

A:E6420 Lists Both Intel GPU and nVidia GPU in the Device Manager. Which is being used?

You chose the GPU on a per-application basis with the nVidia control panel.  The Intel GPU is the hardware default - that cannot be changed.
