Update delivers Lenovo Optical Mouse

Q: Update delivers Lenovo Optical Mouse

I do not have a Lenovo -machine or mouse. It is a Logitech usb mouse M325
I knew I did not have anything Lenovo but there it was waiting to be installed.

The choice to upgrade drivers is turned on
Meanwhile my mouse went into poor response while in Adobe Lightroom which prompted me to investigate the logs.
Although it downloaded and installed the CBS.log indicates it didn't install. Searching results in no Lenovo. The name just remains in the list of updates installed.
I downloaded the current Logitech setpoint update 6.7 and the mouse returned to normal.
The questions are
.....Turn off upgrade drivers (and hope it sticks)?
.....how would this update download be refused?
.....If this record is in the list of installed updates will it encourage future inaccurate device info downloads?

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Hey, my fellow Lachesis users. I have the 4000 dpi version, 2 actually. If I program one of the side keys to any single key I have a problem. Do you?? I use the front right side key for melee. Try ths. Program any side key to some single key. Then open word or notepad. get the curser ready to type. Press and hold the left mouse button and as your holding it press and release the side key - the let go of the left mouse button. It's a problem for me because while gaming if I am firing a weapon while being rushed I sometimes melee befor letting up on fire. Anyway, 3 of 3 Lachesis mouse I have tried this on are the same. Hold left mouse while press and release side key programed as any single key, then release left mouse and that programed key is acting like it's depressed until you press any of the side keys again. True????

Is that normal. Can I set it up so it does not work that way?? I tried doing a macro but that way the macro won't interupt the fire/left mouse.

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

there is my Lachesis config. I tested it again and found that the programed button remains like it's being depresses until you press any of the other PROGRAMED SIDE buttons. The 2 behind the wheel will not un-stick the programed key and for a side key to un-stick it, it can't be off.

Microsoft is rolling out the first cumulative package of non-security-focused updates and fixes for Windows 10 one week after the company began making available to users the release-to-manufacturing (RTM) version of the operating system.

Referred to by some company watchers as "Service Release 1," the actual update package is officially known as KB3081424. (Thanks to The Verge's Tom Warren for a pointer to the KB.)

There's not a lot of information so far about what's in today's update, which Microsoft is delivering via Windows Update. The KB page says the following:"This update includes non-security-related changes to enhance the functionality of Windows 10 through new features and improvements.Windows 10 updates are cumulative. Therefore, this package contains all previously-released fixes (see KB 3074683). If you have installed previous updates, only the new fixes that are contained in this package will be downloaded and installed to your computer."

A week after rolling out its seventh developer preview of Internet Explorer (IE) 9, Microsoft has gone back and delivered an update for the beta of IE 9, the first full beta of Microsoft?s next-gen browser which the company delivered in mid-September.

I, for one, am happy to see the beta update since the developer previews don?t include the full browser interface, making them less useful for those of us who are interested in test-driving IE 9 in real-world situations (rather than to test the boundaries of Microsoft?s support for HTML 5 and other standards).

Microsoft has marked the IE 9 beta update as ?recommended? via Windows Update. The new build includes stability and reliability fixes, but ?is not a new Internet Explorer 9 Beta build,? according to a November 23 post to the company?s IE Blog. Microsoft also has delivered a separate but related IE 9 beta update that ?resolves issues between the IE 9 send feedback feature on 64-bit machines with Windows-Live-Essentials 11.?

I got an optical mouse with a scroll wheel for Christmas last year and the scroll wheel won't work on anything (IE, Compuserve, Netscape).
It has no brand name anywhere on the mouse so I can't look for a new driver. It came from Office Depot and it has no disk/CD. When I plugged it in it did not load anything else and I tried Add/Remove Hardware, but it didn't find anything new. Is there anything else I can do?

Thanks,

This is going to sound really pathetic folks but having had to clean out a load of dust and dirt from my Logitech optical mouse, I now find there is a small sprung object over......
The wheel is back OK and the mouse even works but there is a "thingy" over.. It is about 3/4 inch long with a small hook at each end and a couple of loops in the middle.

When you use the wheel itself, it just doesn't feel that it has the correct tension and therefore I am assuming that the small object should be attached to it in some way.

It did not spring off when I first opened the mouse and in fact I didn't notice it until I was re-assembling. It just sat there in the bottom of the mouse on the right hand side.

Does anyone know of a diagram of the inside of an optical mouse showing where this object should be used? I know it doesn't cost very much to buy a new one but it is a question of honour now finding out where it should be placed. Know what I mean!!

Is there a way the images captured by an optical mouse be sent via USB and saved in any format?

That would be aaaaaa negative. Optical mice do not capture images, they just have a sensor that detects reflected light back to a sensor.

I've tried everything logical!

but I cant get my PS2 Optical Mouse to work on XP.

It's supposed to be compatable, so no drivers or software came with it.

Any ideas?

A:XP & PS2 Optical Mouse

My first idea is that you need to give more information. Like the name brand and model of the optical mouse. Is it wireless ? Is it new ? Did it EVER work ?

If it did, what happened just before it went bad ?

Was there an "old" mouse? Did you uninstall that mouse's drivers ?

Does the optical mouse work on another computer ? Does another mouse work on your (main) computer ?

Does a conflict show in the Device Manager ?
Does the device show up in Device Manager ?

Is it plugged in ?
Is it plugged into the PS2 port, and not the keyboard port?

Does it need batteries and if not are they still good ?

What do you mean by "can't get it to work". Is it completely dead, or do you have partial function?

Does your BIOS have a switch to enable/disable a PS2 mouse and did you make sure it is enabled ?

Does your Motherboard have a jumper to enable/disable a PS2 mouse and is it enabled?

What's the history of your system ? Is it new or used? Have you owned it for a long time or did you just get it ?

My second idea is that you should first let go of the notion that WinXP has anything to do with your malfunctioning optical mouse. Unless you have some red-haired ******* step-child of an optical mouse manufactured by some highly isolated cult located off the Fiji Islands, and imported by Boolong-Bang tribe for distribution in the United States, chances are that your XP and your mouse are just fine, and that the problem is more in the... Plain cloth surface (for eg. velvet) will suit fine. Colour doesn't matter.
Just curious, isn't usage of mouse pad is widely common? Or else, you can even use daily newspaper I guess, will sure be better than desk surface in my opinion.

I have a small optical mouse for my laptop. It's tiny, about a couple of inches long, and an inch or so wide. It has a retractable cable on one of those spring operated spools. I had had it for a while before I really started using it. I've used it for about a year now and sometimes it will randomly disconnect itself. I have to unplug it and plug it back in to 'kick-start' it. The light stays on when it disconnects itself. Does this sound like the optical mouse is going bad?

A:What are the signs of an optical mouse going bad?

My optical mouse needs ever so often a new battery, I don't know if your little one would be the same or if it gets power with the cable.
The cables do go broke after so many times being bent, that is what I found, just wiggling the cable gets a good connection, but as soon as it is moved, it looses connection.

What is really the best surface for an optical mouse? And please let's not talk commercially available mouse pads.. let's talk things you find around your house.
I have seen so much conflicting information.. some people say white is good, some people say go black... some people say just use a white piece of letter paper, and many people respond that it doesn't work.

I had a lightly finished solid oak desk and the mouse worked beautifully right on it.. it was like a dream! hehe. But for space/shape reasons (unfortunately as beautiful as that wood was in the desk, everything else about it was pretty bad), I've moved to a particle laminate reddy brown dealie and the mouse goes nuts on it. I think maybe it's something to do with the roughness of the surface and the slight reflectivity could be confusing it?

You shouldn't need any drivers for a plain-old 3 button mouse.  Windows should handle it fine with the built in drivers.   I would try the mouse on another system.  It could be broken. (I got a Dell optical mouse from another system, plugged it into this one and it worked fine without any drivers)  Peter

Hi,

New to the forum, and thankful that people are willing to give of their time to help with these issues..

2 days ago my XP SP3 notebook decided it didn't like USB mice. I've tried several standard USB optical mice (2 button + wheel) to no avail. These mice work fine on other notebooks/desktops.

When I plug a mouse in, it detects the new hardware, and sees it as "USB PS/2 Optical Mouse." XP searches and can't find any compatible drivers. It used to work fine with the standard "HID compliant" mouse driver. Now, nothing.

I've tried all the drivers I can find, I've even re installed the original drivers.cab file from the XP Pro install cd....nothing.

Any suggestions?

Hi everyone, I have a really weird problem. I have a simple USB optical mouse. The mouse sometimes lags! It stops moving, and it also doesn't have reaction for pressing buttons. It wasn't annoying really, until I started to play an FPS game. The lagging is sometimes short but still annoying, and I think it depends on CPU load which could be low, but sometimes it stucks at low CPU load too. Weird. I had a PS/2 optomechanical mouse before this, which was good, but I started to hate to clean it.

When, the usb mouse is connected, the curser will start where I click, but then if the mouse "line" is not kept right with where the curser is, then the mouse "clicks" on it's own, and many things can happen - text gets selected and deleted, the page will start scrolling, etc. Any ideas as to why this may happen?
As I was typing this post, without the mouse plugged in, I put the "mouse line" up by the "title", and kept typing my post here. The screen as adjusted 4 times - automatic scrolling! And, at one point, the computer went back 3 screens from where I was typing! It is like the "mouse line" went up to the back button (all on it's own), and clicked the back button! I was able to get back to this screen by hitting the right (forward) arrow button. Any ideas? Thank you for all of the help!

Why not just disable the touchpad for a bit.

Does an optical mouse cause an appreciable power drain when used on a motebook computer when running on battery power? If it does what type of mouse is recommended?
Thanks

Any mouse you get will consume power. Logic would suggest that a standard mouse would use less power, but I could be wrong.

A wireless/optical may use less power from the laptop because it would have it's own battery.

If you want the battery to last as long as possible use the built in mouse. I find when I travel it's inconvient for me to bring an external mouse anyway. But I have wireless/optical mouse at home and its amazing. And it comes with a dock to recharge the batteries. It's made by Memorex.

My cousin bought me this optical mouse from microsoft, and it had been working fine until a few days ago. Every once in awhile, the laser inside the mouse just shuts off and my mouse stops responding. In order to fix the problem, all I do is go to the back of the computer, unplug/replug the USB connector, and WinXP detects the mouse, and it starts working again. However, doing this 5-7 times a day is really getting on my nerves.

Anyone know how to fix this problem?

I'm running a Dell Inspiron 8600 laptop with XP Pro 5.1.26
x86-based Intel 1.5g proc, 512 MB ram

yes, it's on old POS, lol

My problem tho is this: I bought a new optical mouse today, it's a RadioShack special Gigaware optical USB mouse.

Installation seems fine, windows picked it up as a USB HID-compliant mouse. You can click and right-click, and the mousewheel scrolls properly. But the cursor refuses to move.

I've tried both USB ports with similar results.
This laptop has a built-in trackpad, but I've been unable to actually disable that, even by going into the BIOS. (There's an option in there to switch pointing device from track pad to PS2 mouse.. it makes no mention of USB mice, but switching it didn't seem to disable the touchpad anyway?)

Halp! ty.

I have a Dell Inspiron laptop, brand new, that since yesterday won't recognize the Dell optical mouse. It gives an "error 43". I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the driver without success. I got on Dell on-line tech support and their guy worked on it for over an hour and 3 reboots without success. What is going on? We plugged the mouse in when we took it out of the box and it worked for over a week just fine.

Have you tried another one? These things do break down and die sometimes...
