I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.
I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.
You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)
I've updated your post with the V570 model number based on your prior forum postings. I assume that the V570 is the model you are referring to in this post?
As for your issue I have one suggestion.... have you tried disabling the Adaptive Brightness setting in Windows if available? Here is a link that explains how.....

Read other answersI have had my laptop for nearly half a year now and I just recently found an HDMI cable in an old junk box that can be connected from my widescreen Samsung DLP to my Laptop. The problem is that when I set my TV to be the main display the task bar does not fit on screen and I can barely see it. Another problem is when I play my games or watch videos they also appear to be bigger then what my screen is. I cant even see the exit or minus button when I make my windows/browsers in full screen. I have tried changing the screen resolution, but that doesn't work either. I then thought it might be my TV but it does not give my the option to change its aspect ratio.
I there solution to my little problem? Like a download or a program that is naturally in the computer that can adjust the aspect ratio (not resolution) manually for extended displays? And the resolution is on its recommended settings by the way.
What is the graphics card on your laptop? Both AMD and nVidia cards have overscan options in their software which should give you the capability to adjust your display size manually until it fits. Also check that you're outputting the correct resolution for your TV.

yeah my wifes new laptop has an led screen and adjusting the settings via control panel wont stick ive not had time to figure out why , but if you adjust the brightness via the FN key it works
does your laptop keyboard have a set of "extra" options either on the function or number keys , it will be in smaller print , your looking specifically for the up and down brightness symbol , these functions can be acessed by holding down the function key (FN) then tapping the required key , in your case the brightness
heres an example of what im rambling about , obviously your keys will differ

hey everyone, I'm having a problem with my LCD screen.
When my laptop loads up and gets to the desktop, the brightness of the screen goes reaaallly high! It's almost as if the digital vibrance was shot up way high... I'm typing while the screen is like this btw.
Is there anyway I can fix this? I'm assuming it may be the temperature of the laptop but I'm not 100% certain.
Thanks for your concerns and the help , really appreciate it
It could be the brightness of the backlight...
Is there a function key on your laptop to adjust the backlight brightnes?
I purchased a used Toshiba laptop Qosimo G55-Q801. It originally had windows vista on it and some one put windows 7 ultimate. The screen seems too dark. I haven't found a way to brighten it up. Could it possible that the right drivers are not installed? How would I find out and is there a way to correct this. I have tried all my screen settings and nothing helps. Second question, it has been loaded with 64 bit. I have some programs that will not run in 64 bit. The original COE # for Vista is worn off. If I install a code finder and find the COE for the Windows 7 and I have a copy of Windows 7 that is 32 bit but no COE # can I install it and use the other COE#?
Look at the top of the key board left side should see two keys with tiny sun bursts with up & down symbols.
You can down load a copy of SIW from www.gtopala.com/ look under licensees you will find the key for your COA.

My laptop is set on High Performance with maximum brightness. For some reason the screen just does not seem all that bright... I seem to typically have this issue with the more modern laptops I've handled. Anyone know what's up?

What does all this mean? Why can't I do something simple like set my screen resolution?

That's a pretty high resolution. Sometimes resolutions are listed that a monitor doesn't support. Where you able to set it there before?
well when my laptop is plugged in it shows maxiumum brightness, but when its not plugged in it become brighter, yet brightness setting shows in the middle, for not plugged in, how can i get the plugged in brightness to equal unplugged brightness, and I have tried changing power settings.
First of all, please specify maker and model of your laptop. Some vendors could have their own third party replacements for some functions.
Also, please go to Control Panel - Power Options - on the right side of your current active power plan select "Change plan settings" - in the next window click "Change ADVANCED power settings" - then navigate to - Display - Display brightness and check percentage.

I have a problem not resolved, more than one month. Then I bought a refurbished Dell Optiplex 755 PC with Windows 7 32 bits and a new monitor Dell E190S. I am pleased that my computer is fast and quiet.
I have the same issue raised by many others, under Windows 7. The image on the screen is terrible, tired eyes and gives you headaches. White is very bright, colors and text are unclear. This happens with all programs and windows open, including Internet browsers.
Dell PC Diagnostics - All tests passed ? Dell PC Diagnostics did not find any issues.
I tried all possible settings: I use Clear Type Text, we increased DPI, and used high contrast themes. I disabled Aero, I calibrated the monitor with different programs. Please help me, if you know any solution.
Thanks in advance,
Mircea Nadasan
There is no reason why Windows 7 should cause the problems you describe so it's most likely you just need to set up your monitor to suit your preferences, particularly where brightness is concerned.
Try reducing the screen brightness and/or contrast using the monitor's own adjustment buttons (usually you press a button on the monitor to bring up an on-screen menu, or there may be buttons on the monitor for adjusting brightness & contrast).
If the monitor does need adjusting as described above (and most monitors do), this has nothing to do with Windows settings.
Ive tried all the obvious things, but even on default it's too bright. i have it on the lowest brightness settings and it's still to bright. I really dont want to kill the lcd backlight
On the left side of this page ( Control Panel\Appearance and Personalization\Display ), there should be a 'calibrate color' button.
Else you should be able to get into the settings of your graph center.
I lower my screen brightness setting by a few notches, and when I turn the pc on the next day, the brightness is maxed back, -1 notch from the top bright setting.
How do you make the adjustment permanent?
It's a Gateway MX7118. I don't think it's a setting related to the 'brightness-while-on-battery vs. brightness-while-on-AC'.

Read other 4 answersSo I bought a new netbook for work travel recently and loaded a program that I need to use. Program runs fine and all, however the prescribed screen resolution for the program is 1024x768 and the netbook (with Windows 7 HE and an Intel GMA 3150) doesn't seem to want to go past 1024x600. Does anyone perhaps have a thought or a way to get 7 to display more here? I don't mind if I even just need to scroll around to get to all the material, but right now its just cutting off part of the program making it impossible to work on some of it.
Hi Orion3,
While your 1024x768 program is a standard 4:3 aspect ratio, 1024x600 is a widescreen aspect ratio (16:9) as many netbooks have. I'm pretty sure that if 600 is the maximum pixel height it can display but you still need to match the 4:3 aspect ratio program, then you'll have to go down to 800x600 rather than up. Try that and let me know how it works.

AOC 2353 monitor, on windows 7 has a recommended resolution of 1920 by 1080
when it is set here I notice even the desktop boots up quick and efficient. opposed to when it is set at 1600 by 900. which is best on the eyes.
problem with 1920 by 1080 is that the folders and print are far too minute to see.
this is with Intel onboard video, from the processor.
is there a way to expand the text and folders? browsers can be zoomed
would having a video card help?
If you go into the advanced display settings, you can increase the size of items and fonts and can "bold" the text.
I've got bad eyes, so I do this every time I set up one of my computers after I install the Windows operating system.
The native resolution for my 27" monitors is 1920 X 1080.
This is an example of what my desktop looks like after changing the display settings.
As you can see, the icons and text are noticeably larger and bolder than they would be from using the default settings.

Hi everyone!
I have a problem when i start using Win7 and adjust my screen resolution...
when i adjust the resolution to 1206x682 or higher, the whole windows become larger and eventually become larger than my screen. So i can see only part of my taskbar. However, this will not happen when i use XP.
Is this normal?
At this time i can't use any video editing software as they require 1024x768 or higher resolution, what should i do?
Sorry for my poor English. I am still an English learner.
thanks!

when i set to a higher resolution in XP, the icons are smaller and the size of the windows doesnt change. But when i do this in 7, the size of icons doesnt change but the whole windows become larger.

Hello So I bought a laptop for my mam today, literally about an hour ago. And said I would set it up for her but when I turned it on the first thing I noticed was a bright blue pixel up the top of the screen. I am very annoyed as it was brand new! While I know I can just bring it back and get a refund or exchange I would love to just be able to sort it if possible. Is it possible to fix a bright pixel? Or will it eventually just become a dead pixel? I really hope someone can help! Thanks in advance guys Kind regards, Rox

How do I know that they are still in my harddrive? I tried to install a new antivirus program but was denied saying I still have the anti virus protection in.
I tried everything to find it to remove it but no luck. So I went ahead and installed AVG Pro....then all was fine for couple of days.
Yesterday, I was browsing when a bright blue screen appeared with white text and said...I cant rem all but was something like a warning, "to avoid further damage......blah blah try unistall summat ......blah if problem contnue contact blah....etc etc
Man, I freaked out so I shut it down immediately...then restarted so to remove the AVG pro...
Now I dont know what to do or whether I have done the right thing...the huge prob is I wont be able to install anti virus!

I have a Thinkpad Yoga 12, and on the display, a small bright spot develops when the device is on long enough. It only seems to be easily visible on lighter colors and webpages, midtones and dark colors/blacks doesn't show it. When the device is first booted, nothing appears on the display and everything looks uniform, but gradually, a light spot develops. From seeing previous forum posts about light spots, they say it's caused either through faults in the display, pressure, impact, or heat, and judging by how it takes a few minutes for the spot to form, I'd imagine it comes from heat or something under the display(?)If the device is out of warranty, is there any way of fixing this?
Read other answersOk I was working on warcraft 3, basically the game increases the gamma (due to an internal setting on it) and would normally reduce it again on exit.
After the crash the gamma on my desktop is too high but also cannot be adjusted, some external setting stuck somewhere.
If I go to the nvidia panel and select "adjust desktop colour settings" "other applications control colour settings" is selected, if I choose "use nvidia settings" then my desktop reverts to normal but of course this stops games adjusting the setting.
So my question is can this situation be recovered if so and how? loading the game again and exiting does not recover the setting.
ok for others who have this problem the fix is here.
zeckensack's Glide wrapper
The wrapper app itself isnt the fix but it includes a desktop gamma control utility, the guy developed it incase glide apps crash and leaves the desktop too bright, run the applet, set 1.0 and hit apply and is fixed.
After computer goes on, Windows (Home Premium 64-bit) title screen is fine, then the icon screen goes on okay. Two seconds later, the screen brightens by itself. Can't see many things, like streets on Google Maps, and boxes to fill information in. Adjusting on monitor does nothing, and in 'Display', the 'calibrate color' procedures sometimes had helped temporarily (not now), and 'adjust resolution' doesn't help at all. Any suggestions?

Read other answersHello. Lately my screen is flickering while I play games (or even watching movies) and it's quite frustrating... Actually I noticed it starts flickering after an hour I open my pc, and it's going crazy especially when the screen displays bright colors. I see vertical white lines flickering fast.

My monitor is a LG W2241S (connected on pc with DVI wire) and my GPU is a GeForce 9600GT. Running under Windows 7 x64.
I searched all over the net for solution how to stop it but nothing really worked. Any idea what can be wrong?
The contrast seems to suddenly become so bright that the text is almost unreadable and the letters become multicoloured(a lot of pink and blue) It happens for no apparent reason and the only way I can correct it is by switching off and rebooting.I've tried everything i can think of with no success.
Hi everyone, I have a pretty weird tech problem.
What happens is, whenever I adjust my monitor's brightness (from its physical buttons) the screen turns black. However the monitor is still on, the LED is still green and the computer is still responsive, the screen just turns black.
I can use the computer just fine, as long as I don't try to adjust anything. If I do want to change something, I have to change the values a little, then restart, change them again, restart until I have the values I want. This problem appeared when I tried to adjust the brightness by keeping the + button pressed down, so it increased quickly.
Is this indicative of a dying monitor ? It is pretty old, it's an LG L1750SQ, 17 inch LCD, it's over 4 years old. Also, I do not believe the video card to the problem, since it stays pretty cool, it has a good heatsink on it.
