Q: Solved: Unable to access internet wirelessly using any secured encryption

Okay, here's the shpeel...My client has a hp tablet notebook using xp tablet edition OS. (Her laptop from her work.) The wireless router that she is using at home is a belkin wireless N. She is able to access internet from the router fine when it's unsecured however, when I do secure it, no matter what I set it to whether it would be wpa or wep, it doesn't connect to any sites. I'm able to ping to the router, but not externally. I've tried resetting the router a few times but that didn't work. It does say, that I am connected to the SSID even though I'm unable to connect to the internet. I also tried using the intel pro wireless utility instead of using the windows wireless utility, but still no go. There's no issue with the router because there are about 4 macs on the network that access the router wirelessly just fine with or without encryption. I'm just using plain 'ol dhcp. Everything's pretty much default standard settings with the router. Does anyone know what's causing this issue?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Help.. I have 3 desk tops and 1 Laptop. the desk tops are wireless connected via my Xfinity ( cable Modem) and a Trendnet 652- 300 mgb router setup. Recently installed the
Trendnet router ( initially w/o security). I was able to readily connect to and access all pcs to Internet.

However, recently went to Trendnet on line site and installed Router password security. Was able to connect and access the Internet on 2 of the 3 desktop pcs as well as the Laptop. However, 1 desktop ( running on Windows XP Professional, 5.1.2600 SVCPK 3, Optiplex G x 60 ) does not permit access to Internet. Once I get to the screen asking for the password ( network key) , I insert same I receive an error message stating "Network key s/b WEP pr a WPA key". "The network PW needs to be 104 bits- to be entered as a 5-13 ascii character or a 10 -26 hexadecimal characters".

FYI.. I went to the accessible desktops PCs an reviewed each of their " wireless properties" Advanc ed Settings which read -Netwk Auth. - WPA2-PSK & Data Encryp- TKIP.

However, the EX Prof. pc 's Wireless Advanced Settings options only have as options WPA-PSK & WEP settings.
I imagine that this anomily is the reason I can't access the Internet on this PC?

Hi I'm hoping someone on here can help.
I'll try and keep this brief, we were having problems with our netgear router (DGN1000) mainly with connection when online gaming with PS3, generally poor connection - so purchased a TP-Link router (TD-W8960N). We could usually access the netgear wirelessly on our laptops Dell and Acer Aspire 4820T (both Windows 7) without any problems and were still doing so last night. However hubby attempted to install the new router last night and all seemed to go fine but after installing we couldn't connect to the wireless network through laptops, iphone ps3 etc - even though we could see the network with excellent strength, after hours of trying called TP-Link they went through everything they could think of and still no joy. Gave up in the end and went to reinstall the netgear Router and now we have the same problem with this router, even though earlier in the night it wasn't a problem - we deleted the previous networks so there was nothing stored in memory & tried everything we can think of (although neither of us are brilliant with IT we do usually get by).
We even set up an unsecured wireless network (on both routers) and still couldn't connect - any advice would be greatly received - many thanks

Hey fellas', stumped again.. Working on A Toshiba with Vista Home Premium OS, And A New Netgear Router. For whatever reason it will only let me have Local access no matter how I try to connect wirelessly. There does seem to be a third party toshiba program to help "Configure" wireless internet connections, but I like to trust windows for the networking, Any chance that program is interfering with wireless access?.. For when I try wireless connection and put the passphrase in, signal strenghth is full, Passkey is accepted but No internet access just local.. I tried manual connection typing in the proper criteria, connects but only local access.. I even tried the new WPS fancy button (which I hate) still nothing.. I reset the router and modem, and still no wireless internet access.. Yet when I hook the RJ 45 wire into the router, lets me browse as I please.. But as soon as I connect wirelessly, just Limits me to local.. Where am i going wrong?.. Thanks In Advance..

I am able to access any site on the Internet except the secured sites (banking sites, credit cards, etc). In this example, I have tried to access the Bank of America website. I am using Google Chrome and IE 8 and the message that I get is:

This webpage is not available.

The webpage at https://www.bankofamerica.com/index.jsp might be temporarily down or it may have moved permanently to a new web address.

This message is what I get from all of the secured sites. It seems that its any site that begins with "https://".

I've tried running the Malware Bytes, Spybot S&D, etc and they found some, which I removed or fixed. Still no luck. I also did the "regsvr dll" changes that I found from the previous "Unable to Access Secured Sites" and still no luck. I've checked my Internet Options and also followed the steps to "fix" the problem (from another message board). Again, no luck. I've even tried restoring the point to a time when I last used a secured site. Again, no luck.

I'm desparate and was wondering if there is anyone that may be able to help me so that I can regain access to the secured sites. Please help!

A:Unable to Access Secured Sites - 2

Have you ever been able to access secure sites ? If so, did something happen just before it stopped working ? New router ? New hardware ? New software ?

Do you have a router ?

Have you tried resetting Internet Explorer back to factory default ?

Umm, check your Services. Maybe the malware disabled something necessary to run encrypted stuff. Are you currently using Selective Startup (msconfig) ?

Virus infected a windows XP home computer and encrypted all microsoft office files like doc dox xls xlsx and so on.
Also all pictures, all pdf files
video: mov avi mp4 wmv
It seems vob and mpg are not affected.
Virus did not add any additional extension to the infected files.
It created in many folders (not all folders) these files
Those txt files among others say :
"...What's the matter with your files?
Your data was secured using a strong encryption with RSA4096.
Use the link down below to find additional information on the encryption keys using RSA-4096 ..."
I attached some of them.
I connected the disk to other computer to scan with Eset and found in dropbox folder some files infected with
W32/Filecoder.Teslacrypt and quarantined them
Also ESET found some other exe files in documents folder as W32/Kryptik.ETMN which also removed and quarantined them.
Computer is almost clean now (I think there are some suspicious files) and boot normally but all the files I mentioned in the beginning are encrypted. And are thousands of files.
A teacher gave it to me to see what I can do. This computer is used from many people in a school too.
I saw some games. Maybe from there got infected or dropbox. They didn't make backup of all files.
I would appreciate any help. Especially because is for a school.
Thank you in advance.

-I was using wireless fine a couple hours ago
-Decided to mess with proxy settings with chrome
-Downloaded "proxyswitchy" chrome extension
-Obtained an IP and port # from hidemyass.com
-Tried to connect to internet, got message "unable to connect to proxy server"
-Decided this proxy stuff isn't worth it, deleted the proxy extension
-Reset router
-Now wireless isn't working on ANY laptop- it shows a connection available but cannot connect to it, however wired connection works (and is how I'm on here right now)

Any advice? Thanks!

Is this as simple as setting up a new wireless connection?

First attempt at a fix:
-went under "proxy server" under "LAN settings" in ctrl panel
-The box which stated "use a proxy for LAN" was checked, and the address and port I obtained from hidemyass were underneath
-I unchecked the box, applied the new settings, and reset my router
-Still doesn't connect wirelessly

Using Access from Office XP.

After a colleague accidentally deleted about 100 records from our database we have recently used the "User and Group" permissions to restrict the user account from making any deletions.

The problem I have is with updating the DB. Until we used permission any changes would be made by copying the DB onto my desktop, making the changes then exporting any changed forms, tables etc into the "Live" DB at the end of the day when nobody else is using it.

Now with the permissions set a copy of the database will not allow me in, it comes up with the "You do not have permission..." error message without allowing me to log in.

Any ideas?

Sony laptop 8.1-pro 64 bit. When connected to a wired Ethernet connection I can connect to internet, access everything, see shared folders, other PCs. But when connected wirelessly, though I can connect to internet, print to Ethernet printers, see Roku box, when I go to "Network" the only computer is the one I'm on. Netgear Genie sees all the computers.

A:Can access internet; can't see PCs in LAN wirelessly

Did not really need all of the screen shots. The first thing that is looked at for this problem. Is what Firewall software being used. Is the router capable of stopping computers on the LAN from being able to ping each other, along with isolating them from each other. As if you were on a public LAN.

Look at the info at EZLAN.NET to get a better idea what you need to do. Out of the box. Everything should be able to talk to each other. That means workgroup is "Workgroup". Firewall is set either to be off or set to "Private LAN". No Static IP's, no weird IP scheme.

I ran into trouble with rootkits and trojans and had to clean them using combofix. After which, my ESET Nod32 failed. I uninstalled it and rebooted my Laptop.
The rootkit had entered my TCP/IP stack and I suspect something hasn't been fixed there, yet.

After the reboot, I can connect using wireless and/or wired to my Router, but I can't browse. It tells me there's 'No Internet Access' when I hover the mouse over the network icon on the system tray.
I have tried flushing my dns, reseting the WinSock, repairing TCP/IP.

Nothing works.
When I ping for yahoo/google.com, it tells me "ping request could not find host yahoo.com. Please check the name and try again.".

Something tells me it is a DNS issue, but I can't figure out how to resolve it.
Additional Information:

OS: Windows 7 Home 32-bit SP1
Wireless Adapter: Atheros AR9285 802.11 b/g/n
Ethernet Adapter: Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller

I've done a million reboots and it won't work. Also, my ESET Nod32 4 will not re-install. It tells me the 'Installation Ended Prematurely'. The same happens even after I uninstall all AV products using Nod32 Removal utility from the Safe mode.
Same when attempted to install ESET Nod32 5.

I have obtained a Samsung R60plus Laptop running Windows Vista Home Premium which used to connect wirelessly to the internet with no problems at all using an old Netgear router.
That router gave up the ghost so I have since updated it to a brand new Huawei HG533 Router. All my other PC's and tablets connect wirelessly to this new router no problems at all but i am unable to get this Samsung laptop to connect to the internet at all. It can find the network no problem, I type in my security key very carefully to make sure it is correct yet it will not connect to the Internet.

I have tried disabling the Firewall and antivirus to see if that was causing the problem, yet still no Joy. Even tried Flushing the DNS and updating the firmware on the Router, Still nothing.

I know there is nothing wrong with the Laptop yet I have tried just about everything and have searched the internet high and low for a solution, does anyone have any suggestions ?

OK real mystery this one.... I have a laptop ... had been working kind of OK but not great with frequent dropped connection

but lately cant access internet at all wirelessly although it says I am connected to internet which I must be because I can ping yahoo etc and can send and receive emails. also can use network printer OK

tried safari and firefox ... same problem so doesn't look like it is IE

this would seems to be confirmed because if you connect to router directly with wire everything works fine

final diagnostic ... a different laptop connects and runs fine wirelessly

tried belkin technical support - helpful but no cigar

I've also searched internet extensively and found similar problems but not exactly this and none of the fixes suggested have worked

not sure if this is a networking problem so maybe not the right forum however any ideas gratefully received?

The first represents the USB connection and is defaultly named ''Canon MP560 series printer'' while the second is for wireless and is defaultly named ''Canon MP560 series printer WS.''

The reason I know that these two different icons represent the two different connection methods is because before I activated the wireless printing the one labeled ''Canon MP560 series printer'' was listed by its self and no wireless capability was possible. Then after turning on wireless capability on the printer and after shutting it down and turning it back on I went into my network folder (without USB cable connected) and there was an icon for my canon printer. Is there something I can do to fix this inconvience? Thanks in advance.

Hello, my friend at school built me a computer about two years ago. I recently got a debilitating virus on it, so I decided to reinstall the OS. I previously had XP Pro on it, but I didn't have the disk or the serial number so I installed a copy of XP home that I had laying around my house. After re-formating the hard drive and installing xp, I am now unable to access the internet.

Also the graphics look very poor on my monitor. I am guessing it has something to do with my motherboard. So I went into device manager and there is a ?! next to the following things: ethernet controller, pce device, sm bos controller, unknown device and video controller.

I have an ASUS P5L-vm socket 775 motherboard. I tried going on their website and looking up what to install, but I was unable to decifer which one to grab.

thanks, mike.

Odd problem,
My system intermittently will not let me on line. The lower right icon which tells me my connection status indicates that I have a strong connection, 4 bars, but the title block above says that I am not connected. I have contacted my ISP provider, AT&T, they have run through the usual trouble shooting procedure and I my connection will usually be made while they are troubleshooting. Or, I can click on my IE icon and get the error message that I am not connected and it asks if I want to trouble shoot the connection and while it is troubleshooting, my connection is made. Yesterday however, after AT&T's troubleshooting, they found nothing wrong, I was not able to get online. When I last checked, 11pm, I was still unable to get online. This morning I can get online but my home page thinks that it is still Tuesday which it said yesterday also. I have gone on to the Control Page and connected to Internet Options and the time and date are correct. The time and date are correct in the upper right window which is part of the Dell program which came installed with my system. Once I am able to get online, the time and date are correct. The only problem area is on my home pages on Firefox, IE and Chrome.
Need some help, please,

Neither of those two can obtain an IP address while every other machine connected is capable of doing so (so can my phone through wireless). Worked fine before I installed the antivirus (removed trend micro and installed MSE).

The RPC service is running so that isn't the issue. tried different cables and another NIC but nothing. This is a windows XP based machine.

I have 3 laptops on the same router under the same workgroup name. Over the wifi they can not view or even successfully ping each other. However, if I plug anyone of the 3 laptops directly into the router via ethernet I can view/ping the wireless computers and the wireless computers can view/ping the wired computer, over the network.

I'm pretty sure I have all the firewall restrictions set correctly and have the right services running. What am I doing wrong here? I've viewed multiple forums and have tried multiple things but still no dice.

Any ideas would be more than welcome. I've been going through forums on this topic, for hours now; trying different things but nothing has worked... obviously.

I will post the ipconfig for 2 of the laptops... the third is being used for work right now.

Hi..need urgent help

I have a webserver (JBoss) running in a co-hosted server. Since the ports 80 and 8080 are already being used by another web server running on the same server, I configured my server to run on port 8585. The co-hosting service provider has a cisco hardware firewall on which they say that the port 8585 has been unblocked. When we try accessing the application as http://ip.add.res.s:8585/abc, in the local machine and over the machines in the co-hosting service provider's machine, we are able to access the application. But when I try accessing from over the internet, I get "connection timed out" error. The service provider says that since the port used is a non standard port, its being blocked by the ISPs. Can anyone help me find out the real issue???

Thanks in advance

I have been having a nightmare connecting a netbook to the internet through a D-link wireless router.
We recently moved house and have taken out a new ISP contract, prior to moving, we were with the same ISP using the same make router, all with no problems.

My Samsung netbook connects to the router and the internet no problem but my partners Acer is having none of it.
She can connect to the network but not get on the internet. (It does get onto internet using Ethernet cable)

I have been spending the last 3 days going through this forum (and pulling out what little hair I have) to try and sort this before posting, all to no avail.

When I connect the Acer to the wireless network, initially I get the "Limited or No Conectivity" message, then changes to showing excellent connection. It will not connect to the internet.
The Acer is shown in the router settings as a connected device. (See below)

Hi, I can connect to my network wirelessly but I can not browse the internet.

Model of the HP machine:HP G60-121WM Notebook PC
Where you running windows Vista:Windows Vista 32-bit
The adapter was it a AR5007 or AR5007EG:AR5007

In Device Manager right click on the wireless adapter and update driver. I have tried this already and it says that my drivers are up to date.

I have taken the security of my modem and tried again and it still did not work.

I went to the my manufacturer's web site support section and I could not find the driver software for my wireless adapter.

It will connect fine and browse the internet with an ethernet cord though. Any help would be appreciated

I have a Dell Latitude D600 Laptop computer. The hard drive crashed and we had to replace it. Reinstalled Windows XP Pro using a recovery disk. Now I cannot connect wirelessly to the internet. In Device Manager under Network Adapters it lists the Broadcom 570x Gigabit Integrated Controller. I can connect to the internet if I run a wire from the computer to my router but cannot connect wirelessly although I could before the hard drive crashed.
In Device Manager there is a yellow question mark for Other Devices and it lists two items both with their own yellow question marks. One is titled just Network Controller and the other is PCI Modem.
Is this what keeps me from connecting wirelessly? And if so how do I get it fixed? The only description it give me is Network Controller. I don't know what kind and don't have a driver for this controller. How can I identify it and get a driver for it?

Ok so I have a Dell E6400 laptop running Windows XP. I have 2 other Dells running Windows 7--those connect to my wireless router no problem. The E6400 SHOWS that its connected (4 green bars in the icon) and that its authenticated but it shows no IP address and there is no connectivity either to my home network or to the Internet. I swapped out the wireless card (1397) with one of the other laptops and it worked fine so there is no problem with the wireless adapter card. Its must be something to do with authentication because its letting me "connect" in the sense that there are green bars in the status icon but no actual connectivity. I've updated to the latest driver--I tried using both Dell's wireless adapter utility and windows utility and can't connect. I've changed the workgroup to the same one the other computers are on. I don't have any filtering in my Linksys Router (E1000) its set up with WPA2/WPA mixed security with password and a/b/g mixed mode transmit. The wireless utility shows the security on the E6400 as WPA-Personal.

If I plug in an Ethernet cable to the E6400 it connects fine to the router--just not wirelessly.

Any ideas as to why its not getting an IP address from the router?

A:Solved: Can't connect to Internet wirelessly but can with Ethernet

Oh--and I can connect wirelessly by using a static IP address which makes sense because the problem is the router is not assigning a dynamic IP automatically
