I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I need to replace (or just mend if replacements are no longer available) the front display bezel on my Vostro 1320. According to the Dell service manual, you have to remove the display assembly, which entails also removing the battery, hard drive, WLAN card, hinge cover, and keyboard.
Is it really that complicated.? A non-Dell website (www.laptopinventory.com/.../LCD) suggests that all you need to do is remove the screw covers and screws and pry off the bezel. I don't want to go ahead with this without checking.
Thank you,

Hi All!A few minutes ago, while cleaning my X280 noticed that the lower bezel of the display (the part between the Lenovo logo on the left and the X280 lettering on the right) is a lot more flexible than the rest of the bezels. Noticed while cleaning it with a soft cloth with a gentle cleaning solution appropriatefor displays. The other bezels (side an top) are noticeable more sturdy.DId anyone noticed this before?

Tonight I was playing a good old game. I minimized to my desktop while the game was running and pulled open Windows calculator, did some calculator stuff, but then the computer goes into a blue error screen and then restarts. A few moments later, the display on my monitor suddenly turns off as if it were put to sleep. And even if I turn it off cold and restart the computer, nothing appears on the display at all, not even a BIOS logo screen. So weird.

System specs:
AMD E-350 Processor x2 (1.6Ghz)
4GB RAM (upgraded from OEM default 2GB)
500GB Hard Drive
GRAPHICS: AMD Radeon HD 6310
Acer (eMachines)-EL1360G UW12P
bundled with eMachines brand monitor/speakers

A:Monitor display suddenly turns off, can't get the display back

You can try:

- Remove the power cord of monitor and PC for a minute. Not just shut down.
- Clear CMOS if you don't mind reconfiguring the BIOS

I have always been satisfied by Lenovo products. I've been a customer for many years and even since IBM thinkpad days, I found Lenovo business series laptops extremely durable and strong. I am right now the owner of a Lenovo X1 Carbon 3rd Gen and a Yoga 260. Both are in international warranty. After some use, I realised that on the top cover, on the left, right upon the display hidge, there was something that looked like a scratch. The thing is that I pay extreme attention and care to my laptops, so no scratch could happen without me knowing. Next, I thought that it couldn't be possible and I tried watching the "scratch" while I opened and closed the lid several times. My fears were confirmed: opening and closing a $1600 laptop was tearing the material of the cover. At first I thought it was just my case. You know something that happens once in a 100,000 devices. So I called the local lenovo support and the really nice guys guided me through the process. They told me such things are not being covered by Lenovo so they had to send some photos to Lenovo central support in order for them to decide whether to change my cover whose crack was getting wider and wider while I was opening and closing the lid. I need to mention that I am a developer and I make very smooth usage of my machines. No field service, no smoking, no humidity, just ideal working environments. Thanks to the beautiful Lenovo support, they replied very fast and approved the change of my l... Read more

Hi, I'm sorry but I have no idea what is causing this. In my browsers some parts of the display are so washed out as to be invisible (radio buttons, certain fonts, some scroll bars, graphic images), and other parts appear normal How can I fix this?

I've attached a screen capture so that you can see what I'm talking about. Notice that the headlines are fine, but the names of the reporters who wrote the story in the left column are almost invisible, and the map of the United States in the center of the page is completely invisible.

I've got the Aero 7 theme running right now. I've checked brightness. I've tried playing with the size of the fonts. None of that has worked yet.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi madaecirp and Welcome to WSF. According to your image upload I see nothing wrong. Nothing is washed out and the US map is clear. In your post you mentioned "In my browsers" What browsers are you referring to? Do you have this issue with text and images in let say Microsoft Word?

Yesterday, IE8 was displaying all the regular websites that I go to. Now today, it will not display the entire page. For example, when i log into facebook, when it take me to my homepage wear it shows my status, it only shows the facebook toolbar, and right below it, it shows the bottom page text, no scrolling. Mozilla isn't working for it either. It is giving me the same thing except it has some html at the bottom of the screen. There are also some other pages that have scrolling pages that won't work. I downgraded to IE 7 and still have the problem. My norton antiviurs ran out last week, does that have anything to do with it? I am running vista home.

I have Dell Inspiron 5547 laptop (Touch Screen, 15 inches, 16 GB RAM and i7 4th Gen processor, Out of Warranty). Some days back, suddenly the display went dim and anything is hardly visible. After some initial investigation, the display chip (may be VGA or LED display chip) on the motherboard appears to be burnt out (may be due to voltage surge). Even the numbers printed on the chip is not readable because of which it is difficult for the local repairing shops to repair this problem.
I think Dell India Service Center doesn't deal with chip level repair and hence replacing motherboard is the only way they can fix this. This will be very costly (considering that the laptop is not under warranty so will have to pay for warranty extension, motherboard replacement and repair service) and time consuming.
Hence, to avoid all this I have come here to seek some assistance.
If there are anyone using the same laptop (Inspiron 5000 series 5547 Touch Screen Display with i7 4th Gen Processor and 16 GB RAM) then could you please take a clear picture of your laptop's motherboard or if you recognize the display chip then only that should be sufficient. In this case, I can read the chip related number from the image and try to repair it.
What are the charges for buying a warranty for the laptop, motherboard of my laptop and repairing charge?

Request your response and help.

A:Display Issue - Dim Display for Dell Inspiron 5000 (Model 5547) - Touch Screen Display with i7 4th Gen Processor and 16 GB RAM

You'll have to call Dell about the possibility of a warranty extension;  in the US, it's sometimes possible but will likely run over $300 -- or about what a board replacement would cost.
If you're getting video, the GPU is OK -- and it's more likely the power circuit to the backlight that's bad.  It'll likely cost as much to repair as to replace the board -- though you'll still be putting $300-400 into an out of warranty system, so replacing the system may be a better idea (if you do this, consider buying a 3-year warranty with the next system).

Received a new Dell desktop unit and the Front Door I/O Plastic Bezel/Cover was loose in the box and not attached. Flexing the plastic door to attach to the two connection points is easy enough, but there is a small spring that needs to attach, presumably to keep the door closed when not in use. There is a small hole on the connection point of the door itself where one end of the spring goes, but I'm not able to figure out where to attach/place the other end so that the spring will work. Suggestions welcomed.

Hi guys, a question about transferring parts from an old pc to a new one. I've recently bought a new Packard Bell 1605 imedia with 512 ram and 200gb hard drive. My previous pc is a several years old compaq with 256 ram and a 7gb hard drive, which I intend to keep as a back up. As it's just sitting there doing nothing, I wondered what parts I can transfer over to my new pc.

The 256ram is the obvious one, but I'm not sure if it would be compatable from such an old machine, also I only seem to see ram figures doubling ie 64, 128, 256, 512, 1024, so would it be ok to have an "odd" ram figure of 768 and would it make a great deal of difference? And is it an easy task to perform, having never done it before?

Secondly, the 7gb hard drive - although the actual 7gb's won't make much of a difference to the 200gb's I've now got, is there a benefit to having a slave drive as well as a master albeit very small in comparison?

And a final, unrelated, hardware question, I occasionally receive a message in my sys tray telling me that the hardware wizard has detected new hardware (an unknown usb device) that would work faster if it was connected to a high speed hub/port, but I haven't installed anything - any ideas?

Thanks a lot in advance

My Inspiron 13 7348 ( servic tag 4w6yj52)was physically damaged.
one of the two hinges between the display unit  and the base assembly had detached from its cover and parts of the plastics were broken (1. Display BackCover,  2. base assembly.)
1. I uninstalled the base assembly cover
2. I uninstalled the Display BackCover.
then I could clearly see the damaged parts
I opened a service request at Dell site. then I was talking to the part list sale department.
I send them the photos of uninstalled parts (1 & 2)
I asked Dell to have the price for these two parts.
I wanted to purchase these two "Display BackCover & base assembly " (with some attachments on them)
Surprisingly they  to force me to buy the whole display unit which includes the SCREEN and costs about 200$
The Display BackCovly was easily uninstalled , with the guide of the user-manual doc.
I did not succeded to convince DELL that the back-display-cover,  should be sold separately
the Laptop works OK, with the ability to move the display.

A:backup cover display and base assembly replacement for Inspiron 13 7348

As is common on hybrid systems, the entire top assembly is fused together with adhesive.  It's all but impossible to disassemble the upper assembly without destroying the glass, LCD and/or defacing the back plastic - as Dell informed you, the entire upper half of the system must be replaced as a single unit.
You'll find this design very common these days on all systems of this type.

Still I'd like to know how itcould be repaired. Can you just glue another cover on it or do you have to replace the entire plastic display bezel? This is what its supposed to look like http://img5.pcpop.com/ArticleImages/0X0/2/2520/002520015.jpg Mine is missing the square cover to the left side of the light. I hate leaving it open like that. Won't it get dust on it? Any help / advise is appreciated.

Some pages I go to wont display the entire page. Example is: http://lotto.iwon.com/pick7/game.jsp This site has boxes in the middle to click on after selection of lotto numbers. I have a blank and no link (cursor doesn't change) to click on that area. One other problem is on the same site. Example: At this site http://home.iwon.com/index.html?PG=global?SEC=bnav down near the bottom right, there is a football contest Jack Daniels Pick'em. When I click on that link, a totally white blank screen comes up. The same thing for the link above Pick'em. I don't believe it a site problem, because it happens sometimes at other sites. I am XP professional. I have popup software turned off. IE options are set to default including security.

My company has issue me a Lenovo T470s and an Ultra Dock to replace my existing equipment. I have two external monitors connected to the docking station with display port cables. The problem that I am experiencing is that if the laptop is docked and the cover is open, I get video on the laptop display and one external monitor. The other external monitor gets no signal and goes to sleep. If I close the laptop cover, I get video on both external monitors. A co-worker told me that this was working as designed and that the solution for getting video on all three monitors was to connect one external monitor to one of the display ports and the other to the DVI port. (He hadn't tested this configuration and is using two display ports with the laptop cover closed.) I tried my coworker's suggestion and got the same result but prior to switching to DVI, I downloaded and installed the latest(?) driver for the HD Graphics 620 adapter from this website (lenovo.com) and that seemed to solve the problem (when using two display ports) but after shutting the laptop down, I had the same issue the next day. What I want, is to have the laptop cover open and still be able to use two external monitors and get optimal resolution on all three monitors. What's the best configuration for achieving this? (Don't guess, like my co-worker. Give me something you've tested and that you can confirm that it works.)

You won't be able to reuse that ram. It's too old.

hdd: 500gb

ram: 1gb until you can afford more

You might want to wait because this is as good as you can do for $200.
and it won't be long until it's outdated.

EDIT: here it is in a wishlist

EDIT2: please note that you won't be able to get an operating system.

A:Where to buy spare laptop parts ??

Since every model of laptop has unique components and flex cables, you normally buy them from the manufacturer. Another source is find dead laptops and cannibalize them for the parts. Most of the cables in a laptop are not generic like desktop machines.

Okay, so a while ago we had a power outage. My surge protector is ancient and I think it let me down because when the power came back on my computer smelled strongly of burning and would not turn on. My power supply was melted, so I replaced that. Now the computer would start up, but with no display. After tracing this issue to the motherboard, I got that replaced. This fixed it and everything now worked perfectly for a total of two days.

Today, while just browsing the internet, my computer restarted itself with no display showing up (and I thought I smelled a bit of burning but it could be my imagination) and would not shut down with the power button. Everything looks okay inside, all fans are working, and the motherboard lights are on and steady. No beeps.

So I have the exact same symptom as before now with a new motherboard. Computer boots up but has no display and wont shut down without unplugging it.

I "believe" that the Lenovo part number you need is FRU 04X0182 (Backlit KBD Arabic Chicony Part Number 04X0182) but I only see one site online that claims to have one, and it is in the UK.     The part is not cheap, so I would suggest you contact them directly (see link below) and make sure it fits your exact model, but they do appear to have one left in stock, and can ship to Egypt. EAF Supply Chainhttps://www.eafsupplychain.com/Product/LV-04X0182 You might also search for the Lenovo Part Number/FRU  elsewhere to see if you can get a better price if you do not need it right away,  but the link above was the only one I found that actually claims to have one in stock.

It stops responding when i updated the graphics driver from hp.. It really sucks..
Pls any kind hearted person mind to suggest me a display driver for this stuff.. I should be obliged.. Pls pls..
Thank you in advance..

A:Display driver help required

Did you try to roll back to the earliar version and did not succeed? You can do it easily via the Device Manager.

If this does not work then all the drivers for your laptop can be downloaded from HP Pavilion g6-2007tx Drivers for Windows 7 | DriversTag

Good luck

Hi. I'm not such a computer pro, so maybe I'm just not looking in the right places. Does anyone know where I can find the following components:

- A replacement internal wi-fi card that will work for replacing the old card in an HP Pavilion ze4365us
- A cable that will turn my firewire port (it's a little port, I'm pretty sure it's firewire) into a USB port

Every once in a while a well meaning citizen moderator locks a thread in this HP-hosted but for-users-to-help-users forum when they see something about improving used HP workstations. Of interest, there is actually a whole series of official HP web pages that provides such support.  You can find one form of these by searching Google via "Z600 spare parts", for example.  Let's say you had a HP Z600 version 1 early boot block date workstations with a motherboard that could not run the Xeon 5600 series processors that HP officially began support for only in the version 2 Z600 motherboards. And lets say you were interested in finding the official HP part number for a replacement version 2 motherboard, and that you were willing to buy one of those and do the project of transplanting in this new motherboard.  If you did that search on Google the top result would be the official HP web page, and there would be two motherboards listed near the top, and the description would clearly define which the older version 1 motherboard was, and which the newer version 2 motherboard was.  As expected, the older version 1 has a lower number than the newer version 2: System board (motherboard) - Intel Tylersburg-WS 2S platform, dual Tylersburg IOH, ICH10R controllers, 1333 MHz front side bus,    461439-001   (older, version 1) System board (motherboard) - Intel Tylersburg-WS 1S platform, 1333 MHz front side bus (Rev. C2 chipset),   59118... Read more

A:Spare parts for Z600, including motherboards

Oh, and here is a picture of the motherboard sticker for this later version 2 Z600 motherboard that can run the Xeon 5600 processors.  I virtually always only use the processors that HP officially supports, and these are listed in the later versions of the Z600 QuickSpecs.  Any of these processors that is rated at equal to or less than 95W max TDP will run fine under the usual smaller Z600 heatsink/fan, but the hotter ones (130W max TDP) will need the larger Performance heatsink/fan.  Remember that for almost all HP parts there are two part numbers for each.... the Spares part number, and the Assembly part number.  HP spare part sources will often only show the SP#, but you can also search under the AS# and you might luck out using that too:

I am considering buying HP Pavilion laptop from Best Buy. Model number is 15-bc018ca. Since this laptop will be used for photo editing, I have been trying find information about the color accuracy, sRGB rating, etc. However I am unable to find any information on this specific model. Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can find this information?Maybe if someone knew the type of monitor this model has (or how to find it), then I could find more info online. Or if someone knew of other models with the same monitor, I could find relevant reviews. The only monitor description I was able to find was:39.6 cm (15.6") diagonal FHD IPS UWVA WLED-backlit multitouch-enabled edge-to-edge glass (1920 x 1080)Any assistance or direction provided will be appreciated.Thanks.

I have a pavilion m7-1015dx.Product #: B4T70UA#ABA I wanted to replace my led screen because It stopped displaying. One day the laptop overheated and damaged the screen I believe.  So the replacement part on the back of the screen says 699337-001, but on the hp spare part website, the closest I found is 699335-001. Is that the right replacement? Thank you in advance for taking your time to help me.
