I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Earlier this week I stood up while holding my Y540.  The power brick, which is quite heavy, fell off the desk and ripped the power cord out of the DC-IN power jack.  The plastic clips that hold the power cord in place were destroyed, and now I can't get a stable power connection anymore. I'd like to replace the DC-IN power jack on the motherboard.  The problem is I can't seem to find the part anywhere.  Lenovo won't sell it to me (it's an FRU only part) and I can't find anywhere online that sells an 81Q4 power jack. Does anyone know if there are other compatible DC power jacks I could use for my Y540?  I'm quite comfortable replacing parts on a system board, I only need to find the appropriate part.   Thanks for any help you can provide.

Hi!I accidentally broke my notebook's power jack (2 of 5 wires broke off from their pins). The number of the part I need is DC30100KQ00, but at the moment I hardly find any (ebay's shipping can take up to 2 months, and I don't have that much time). My question is what are the differences between these parts? I mean I've seen many of these with the same looking connectors I need, but they're related to other models. Otherwise, can I cause any trouble if I try to replace it with a part from a different model (e.g. G500)? Thanks,Mozes

Hi, My son's Yoga 700-14 2-in1 has developed an unreliable power connection - the USB connector has to be positioned at a very precise angle for the battery to charge.   (For some reason, it's worst when the battery is <20% charged and becomes more tolerant when the battery is fuller - seems wierd but pretty sure it's not my imagination.) Both the cable and the male connector for the supply seem to be in good condition.   There's nothing visibly wrong with the dc port inside the laptop (hard to see but in torch light all pins look intact and not bent), however, I suspect this might be the problem and needs replacing (perhaps a loose internal connection). Has anyone else encountered this problem or done this repair?  It looks easy enough based on photos of the internals - the wiring isn't buried under any other components. Is there a quicker fix that I'm missing?  I guess I'll check some voltages with a meter and that there are no loose connections before ordering a new part. Thanks Stuart

Hi. The aux jack on my Laptop is only working on the Left channel. This is a hardware problem, not a software problem, since the right channel will work if I position my aux cord at a very specific angle. I want to know if there is any way to fix this problem or replace whatever part of the laptop connects to aux cords. Thank you.

Hi, I'm trying to replace the power jack in my W530 and I've run into a little problem-- I can't actually get the power jack out of the housing. I've disassembled the laptop to the point where I can replace it, but I can't actually get the jack itself out, it seems to be glued in to the extreme. Does snyone have any tips on how to get the power jack out? I already have the replacement part ready to go. Thanks in advance.

Hi JS246 ,
What is the exact issue on the system? Have you checked with another Dell OEM power adapter? Is the current adapter working fine? Is the adapter frayed?
If you have isolated the source to be indeed the dc power cable, then assuming there is no warranty on the machine, you could contact our team to get a quote for a paid service call - http://dell.to/1vnT6CQ
If you are looking to replace the parts yourself, then you could contact a 3rd party Dell parts seller - http://bit.ly/28SYFVc- they ship parts to UK. Or check on Amazon UK - http://amzn.to/28QNXQ0
Write me a private conversation with the service tag and your contact details(Name and Email) for case records.

4 year old laptop wasn't charging properly, it was being very fussy about the exact position of the power cable in the socket. It has what looks like a pretty common power connector for lenovo, which is a USB sized hole with a single centre pin. I looked into the laptop socket and saw that as well as the conductor for the centre pin and the outer sides, there was also 4 little tines on each side between the centre and the edge which were clearly all bent off in wrong directions (looked like an old toothbrush inside) I'm guessing the centre pin is +ve, the tines are -ve and the outer connections are just mechanical/shielding. I straightened these all out with a pencil but I think I must have momentarily shorted something as now the laptop shows absolutely no signs of life when I hit the power button. Tried various tricks I've read online about various sequencies of hitting the power button with the battery in and out but no luck. The laptop was fully charged before I started this, but I didn't disconnect the battery before starting which I probably should have. So I'm guessing I've shorted the power rails on that connector. What damage have I likely done? I'm amazed that there can be a design where very flimsy pins inside an external connector which are clearly easily bent can cause such damage if they touch another pin 2mm away from them. Is there any way to save this laptop? If it's a case of replacing an SMD fuse soldered onto the motherboard I can do th... Read more

There are 5 wires (counting from left): 1 - blue, 2 - black, 3 - black, 4 - red, 5 - red. I need the following information:1. What is the function of each wire (ground, power supply etc.) and required voltage on each wire once AC adapter is on?2. Are 2 black wires (wires 2 and 3) internally connected? I checked with multimeter and among all pairs of all 5 wires, only those 2 wires are shorted? Is it correct?

Hi!I recently got my hands on my friend's old laptop that hadn't been used for a year. The problem with the G510 was the power jack. It was pushed back and repaired multiple times by professionals but still didn't completely work.I thought that if i bring the power jack outside the laptop it would work. But it doesn't. I plug in the charger and nothing, no led lights no fan no sound. The same charger worked on another computer. So i removed the power jack and i saw no external problem with it. I don't have a multimeter. Next i thought the power jack doesnt really cost much, but then again, the shipping costs would be overwhelming and i can't afford it at the moment.I also tried turning it on with only one memory card, done the 30second thing, charging without battery in case the problem was there but still nothing. The silence is killing me.Could there be any way to charge the battery outside the laptop? Or do you have any other ideas i could try?

Hi,  So 6 years after i bought my PC, I'm having to replace the power adapter after the wire got cut and the service people are now saying that there's a adapter voltage issue as well and hence they're not being able to replace it. Anyhow, was looking to see how much a new, original, adapter would cost but I just cannot seem to find the right one ANYWHERE?! Even AmaonBased on the Hardware Manual, this is the one that came with my PC:120W, Delta ADP-120LH BA 19.5V6.15Aadapter - CCC (PN - 36200400) (Also attached an image of my adapter that mentions the specs). What would happen if I use any of the other adapters mentioned there (specifically thr 90W ones?)  Now, ALL the chargers with the same 5x2.5mm pin are 65W on the Lenovo site. Be super if someone can confirm this as well? Can't find any official documentation that deals with the dimensions of the pin! Mine clearly says 120W (170W if Ultrabay is attached too). Amazon does have a few but they're more than double the price of the 65W ones mentioned on the official store. Be awesome if someone here can link me to an adapter they purchased (pref original Lenovo adapters) and provided it's working fine.TIA!

My power adapter to my Y500 Idea pad is messed up. The wiring inside must have gotten damaged somehow and is now faulty. It only charges my laptops when angle in certain positions, or goes in and out. It's the 170W AC adapter one, but is there really a difference in using one of the small Wattage Adapters? The 170W one is just way out of price-range for me so I'm looking for one of the cheaper versions. I found one online that is "Y500 AC Adapter 90Watt 19V 4.74A". Would that work with my laptop?  I don't understand how different wattages affect my laptop (I'm assuming it affects charging time) so any help is appreciated. I generally keep my laptop plugged in with the battery removed, so I don't have to worry too much about charging the battery, if that's any help.Thank you!

I recently purchased a Lenovo Ideapad 110-15ISK, Model 80UD0017US, and would like to purchase a 2nd power adapter as a backup. In the hardware manual I did not see a reference as to the connector size (ie 4.0mm*1.7mm), which is the connector size reference I saw by one seller. Does anyone know the connector size on this power adapter for my model? Thanks,Kim

My Yoga S1 has contradictory, intermittent power issues that I'm trying to chase down. Culprits are bad power bric/cord/plug or power socket on mother board or power board that feeds into power button/led on. One day it blacked out and wouldn't restart to hard drive or windows stage. I did get an error code which I can't remember 5100 or 5500 poss?, that seemed to indicate the power board or ribbons to that needed replacement or re-attachment. So fiddled with it and it did fire up in windows all ok. Then ran out of power and died again. power button wouldn't light up. plugging in power unit did light up led as getting charge. Left it overnight and then it miraculously charged up. pushed power button light up twice then nothing. took out power board/detached ribbon, then it fired up to windows, fixed some hd errors and has been restarting without problems. Except now there is no plug showing on battery icon when plugged in. So not recharging but I'm sure the battery is good. And logically, the power brick and plug must be feeding electricity into laptop to get it to recharge enough to start up. So power socket and plug may be suspect with intermittent contact problems. Or the power board somehow is involved in this? I've ordered a new powerboard as easy screw in and cheap. My question about powerboard is does this control ability of plug to charge battery? power brick with new plug is next order from ebay. but the power socket, which see... Hello, I record on my laptop (using my PX21 headset from Turtle Beach). I noticed that a small piece of rubber inside the headphone jack wore away or broke, so I purchased a simple USB headphone adapter to fix the problem of the headphone jack plug not being secured. That's fixed the issue of the jack plug not being secured, but not the issue of my computer audio bleeding into my headset microphone (according to Audacity, my headphone jack may still be the cause of the issue). So, I was wondering how I can go about ordering a replacement headphone jack. I searched for one on the repair parts section of HP's website, but found nothing. How can I order a replacement headphone jack? (Just posting this here so people in the future can find it.) I replaced my motherboard and just wanted to leave this here for future reference to some poor soul who has to do the same.
If you replace the motherboard on your Dell Studio XPS 8000, (service tag 3L8DHK1) and you need a new motherboard you can use an INTEL DQ57TM, it's compatible and I did a successful transplant. Your processor is an INTEL Core-i5 750 CPU 2.67GHZ it uses a SOCKET LGA1156. It uses DDR3 memory.
Once you take out your old motherboard and disconnect all those usb and audio wires and the power button wires. To hook up your USB front jacks, audio jacks etc.... here's which blocks go where:
Wires from the audio jacks and usb ports go into these colored block connectors, and those connectors get plugged into those little rows of pins/jumpers called Internal Headers. Every motherboard manual tells you about them. Grab the manual for your new motherboard and it'll tell you where your audio1, usb1, usb2, usb3, usb4 Header connectors are they look like 2 rows and 5 collumns of short little pins. (They almost always have 1 or 2 pins missing on purpose.)
the wires leading to a YELLOW BLOCK gets plugged into the audio1 header on your new motherboard, it's for audio jacks on top of the computer
wires with the WHITE BLOCK gets plugged into the usb3 headers on your motherboard (they are for the usb jacks on the very top of the computer tower)
wires with the GREEN BLOCK gets plugged into ... Read more

If this is not it:  Then you have given us the wrong model number because that is the DC jack being shown in the Service Manual for your model. Nobody at HP can give you any other answer based on that model number because HP records show this is the jack for that model. Almost certainly the problem is that the current rating is wrong, if the laptop needs
6.3 A of current, it won't function on less (just as you can't use a 3A fuse for a kettle!)
Unfortunately it must be the right current rating, I know, I've been caught that way too!
Maybe you can exchange it?

Hello!

My Toshiba Satellite P755-S5265 has not been able to turn on at all. That's because the AC adapter would not be charging the battery nor would it operate the computer.

Whenever I would plug in my adapter, a weird clicking noise would come out from the computer. Also, the AC adapter charging light would blink continuously as well. I

took apart my laptop and discovered that the end my of DC power jack was the source of the clicking. When I mean the end, I don't mean the area where I plug in my adapter, it's the other end that's connected to the motherboard.

Does anybody have any advice on what I should do? Is my laptop dead and done for?

Thank you so much in advance!

Does anyone know of a generic replacement AC'97 audio cable and front 3.5mm front port replacement kit available? In this particular pc, the audio cable that connects from the audio header on the mobo to the front 3.5mm jack has been damaged badly (it touched a hot soldering gun). I wouldn't mind replacing the front jack anyway since I have to wiggle the plug in it to get any sound. Needless to say, because of the damaged cable, the sound output is scratchy and very weak.

Any sort of generic replacement would do since I don't care about drilling a hole on the front of the case on this pc case if I have to to accomodate a new jack. I've looked for hours but can't find anything.

Hi. Im new on this forum, but I have a problem with my Inspiron 1545 laptop from Dell pre-loaded Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit (although I did re-install several times with OEM OS restore disc). Money is tight for us now, so my AC power jack on the side of my laptop (or the end which connects to the jack) is damaged. I don't know what it is or how serious it is. Once for a while we had to protect the cord from slipping out using duct tape. The only thing I really know is that the coded white rim on that end of the cord, a very small part of it is chipped. And my battery needs replaced, do I need to still fork over an expensive sum for a brand new one?

In that case you might find this link helpful:

Granted those aftermarket replacements are not necessarily in the same quality as the original parts.
You often trade off quality for price.
These seem to be original parts (for 3-6x the price as it seems):
