Creating autounattend.xml only for ProtectYourPC

Q: Creating autounattend.xml only for ProtectYourPC

Hi

I want to create an unattended.xml so my customers dont have to choose that, but i want them to be able to make all the other steps.

I have created an xml-file that i tought should work:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<unattend xmlns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:unattend">
<settings pass="oobeSystem">
<component name="Microsoft-Windows-Shell-Setup" processorArchitecture="x86" publicKeyToken="31bf3856ad364e35" language="neutral" versionScope="nonSxS" xmlns:wcm="http://schemas.microsoft.com/WMIConfig/2002/State"
xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance">
<OOBE>
<HideEULAPage>true</HideEULAPage>
<ProtectYourPC>3</ProtectYourPC>
</OOBE>
</component>
</settings>
<cpi:offlineImage cpi:source="wim:a:/iso-filer/w7pro/install.wim#Windows 7 PROFESSIONAL" xmlns:cpi="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:cpi" />
</unattend>

I use that xml-file when i sysprep but i still need to choose settings for Windows update during OOBE.

Preferred Solution: Creating autounattend.xml only for ProtectYourPC

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hey,
I have created a autounattend.xml file using the Windows System Image Manager. When validating, everything comes back clean. However, when deploying it ends up failing with the message in the second set
I am deploying using this method to an Intel Compute Stick:
Use Rufus to "install" Windows iso to a Bootable USB drive.Drop autounattend.xml into the root of the USB driveBoot USB device, let the software do it's thing.
What actually happens:
Use Rufus to "install" Windows iso to a Bootable USB drive.Drop autounattend.xml into the root of the USB driveAfter a few minutes, Windows Setup complains: "Windows could not collect information for [OSImage] since the specified image file [D:\Sources\] does not exist

A few things about this:
I never specify D:\Sources anywhere in my autounattend.xmlAuto

I was not planning on doing this with Sysprep, I was planning on dropping the autounattend.xml file directly on to the root of the USB drive and let it install the image automatically rather than booting through WDS or something similar.

I have been reading Windows 10 Image - Customize in Audit Mode with Sysprep - Windows 10 Forums in case sysprep is the absolutely best way though.

Hi, a couple of days ago i got a popup from my antivirus software (ESET NOD32 antivirus 3.0.695.0 virus sig database 5325) saying that it had blocked a URL protectyourpc-11.com/cgi-bin... and the IP 96.9.169.85:80 this was odd as i had never seen a message like this before but since it was my antivirus software i thought that it had solved it cos it said it was blocked, since then however my internet has been really screwy as websites and links occationally never load (just to get all the downloads and links to make this post took way longer than it should've) and sometimes everything will stop loading in my browser (im currently using the newest version of firefox) so for example trying to load wikipedia would work but when i tried to search for something on it the search would never come back but just continuously load (the same thing happens for google) and when the seach does come up when i try to click a link it would also get stuck in some sort of infinte load or something,
i know that alot of this is just internet problems but they cropped up at the same time as the error message and alot of links have been breaking on me and when i try other browsers they also seem to crash in similar ways (IE and chrome are the ones iv tried) and it isnt an isp problem as other applications that use the internet are working fine (though some of the embedded images and flash stuff is taking alot longer to load but that could b a seperate problem which i think iv fixed) but still ... A few days earlier i got a pop up from ESET NOD 32 saying that it had blocked a URL - protectyourpc-11.com/cgi-bin.. and an IP address ( i haven't noted it down ) I thought that the problem had been solved but , this message was repeatedly flashed . I was unable to update my anti virus program and Firefox had become extremely slow . I was also being redirected to different sites and shown messages from Google that certain sites that i opened could be harmful to my computer . These were in fact , sites that i frequent every day .

I downloaded the 15 day trial version of AVG 2011 which detected 2 threats . These were immediately removed . But this didn't solve the issue .

I was unable to access the internet now . Firefox flashed this message - http://img812.imageshack.us/img812/1179/virusy.png

I clicked on Troubleshooting Information under the Help Tab and saw this - http://img96.imageshack.us/img96/1613/virus2t.png

I saw something fishy under Modified Preferences and changed the settings to "No proxy" under the Advanced tab in Options . Since then the internet is working fine . But my computer has become very slow and hangs frequently .

I've read that I need to use combofix to rid it, but there is no available program for a 64 bit system. Also, it changes my internet connection settings by checking some proxy settings. Hi, all just want some help on why the Autounattend.xml file that I have attached is not working.
It is designed to simply generate a random computer name and join the computer to the relevant 2008-R2 active directory domain specified during the OOBE setup process.
I have placed it in the root of OS drive (Aka C:\) and specified it as follows:

sysprep.exe /oobe /shutdown /quiet /unattend:C:\Autounattend.xml
When I start the computer back up, it is neither on the domain nor is the computer name changed and randomnized. The domain user account specified in the Autounattend.xml has permissions to create and delete computer objects.
What is wrong with what I am doing?

I have been trying to figure this one for few days now, but I'm still stuck...I have created Win7 Pro image and want to deploy it using external usb drive(s) in upcoming laptop deployment at my company. All went well with creating the answer file, no errors
at all and it does exactly what I need/want.
My issue is that when I copy the autounattand file onto the root of usb drive that contains all the setup folders/files, setup does not seem to detect the file and stalls at the very first choice of install language, however...when I take the very same answer
file and copy it onto smaller pendrive and start the same test laptop up with both external usb drives connected, configuration picks up and setup goes along without any issues. What gives? Tell me what I'm missing, please.
Thank you.

So I've been asked to research Win7 images and the best way to create and deploy them. We don't have MDT 2010 up yet, so I'm stuck using a custom install.wim along w/ the unattend.xml file.

Question #1

How can you stop Win7 OOBE welcome screen from making you create a local user account? After Win7 finishes its text based setup, I want it to boot into Windows as Admin bypassing the welcome screen (create user/change PC name). This way desktop support can -

1. Change the PC name
2. Join the domain, reboot, and be done
3. End user logs in, process complete

There is no need for them to do a Audit mode w/ reboot. The domain accounts already exist. I don't want local users being created.

In Win XP you could edit the sysprep.inf so that you had -

[GuiUnattended]
AutoLogon=Yes
AutoLogonCount=1

Which would allow you to log in as admin the first time after sysprep, join the domain, etc. How do you do this w/ Win7? I can only get it to log in as admin in systemAudit mode, I want to do it in OOBE.

Hopefully I just missed something. Like I said, I'm new to automating Win7 setup.

A:Windows 7 AutoUnattend.xml - User & PC Name

I was able to successfully solve this exact problem by looking at this website:

Sysprep a Windows 7 Machine

With the unattend.xml file that I have, it prompts for a PC name first thing, then creates the local administrator account and automatically logs in one time, joins to the domain via my JOINDOMAIN.VBS script, installs our AntiVirus program, installs out network management agent, and activates windows automatically with KMS. Then it ends by initiating a system reboot with a 10 minute timeout clock. That way if an admin has to leave the machine during the imaging process, it won't stay logged in to the local admin account. So what you are asking about is definitely possible. Just make sure your unattend.xml file is built correctly.

Hi!
I created that XML using WSIM. However, if I leave the size field blank (partition: 4), I encounter an error during installation, claiming DiskConfiguration to be incorrect. Is there any way to do this, and how?
Also, after I fixed this, I got a message telling me drivers for HDD/SSD were missing. Since this doesn't seem to happen with the regular installer disks, how and which drivers I need to integrate?

Thanks in advance!

Hi!
I'm about to prepare some OEM computers and have made a simple unattend.xml-file with help from the answering file sample from WAIK, but I can't get it to work properly.

I have copied the file to the root directory of an USB drive and it seemes like the installation program is reading the file (e.g. I don't have to specify an computer name when finalizing the installation) but it's not as automated that I would like it to be. I have to choose wich Windows version to install (basic, HP etc.), the disk partitions listed in the xml-file is not automated (I have to choose wich drive to use for installation), I need to confirm the license agreement, choose date and time options.

What can be wrong? I would like a clean, working autounattend.xml-file that automatically installs and also temporarily activates the administrator account so I can install updates, drivers and such and then seal everything up with sysprep.

Can anyone help me with this?
Here's my autounattend.xml file (I've deleted the OEM info):

If it matters or not, anyway when I come to the disk configuration screen I try to press Next and it just says "Setup was unable to create a new system partition or locate and existing system partition. See the Setup log files for more information."

I have created an automatted installation for Windows 7 via AIK and I am setting the UserLocale, UILangauge and Inputlocale for specific regions. I then saw this aritcle furthest below (see: "Apply regional and language settings to reserved accounts") and was
wondering if there are other autounattend.xml paramters that also need to be set to ensure these "reservered accounts" are set for the proper regions.
Please note: I want to keep the base language for Windows and the SQL Collation set to en-US, just the default users regional settings (UserLocale?), UI (UILanguage?) and keyboard (InputLocale?) settings need to be country specific.
In my Autounatted.xml file I have all the Locale settings set for en-US in the 1 windowsPE section. I believe these only apply for the actual installation process and not the final Windows deployed image. Is that correct?
I believe I need to set the locale setting in either the 4 specialized or 7 oodesystem pass to affect the installed system.
So to achieve, my desired resule, OS & SQL using a base en_US language and the default User, UI, and keyboard langauge being country specific, I would set the Microsoft-Windows-Internationas-Core_neutral settings as follows:
InputLocale to the specific country such as da-DK (Denmark)
SystemLocale is set to en_US
UILangauge is set to da-DK
Userlocale woud also be set to da_DK

I have a scenario where system can have more than one storage controllers. The first storage controller has x amount of disks and is unfortunately enumerated before the controller that has the disk I want to install to. So,
the install disk number is never fixed nor is it ever guaranteed to be zero, unless I take the controller and/or disks offline during the install. This workaround is really not desirable and I am wondering if anyone has a way of installing to a specific disk.
Not being able to install to any disk sort of defeats the purpose of having this field at all. Without someway to dynamically fetch the disk number, it looks like this will only works if the DiskId is guaranteed to be zero such
as on a system with one disk.

I have seen an example from many years ago where it was possible to get the DiskId by running a vbs script like getDiskId.vbs then the autounattend.xml would look like something along those lines. But, it wasn't clear whether
that's still applicable and whether anyone has gotten that to work.

Quick fix might be trying to burn it as a regular "DATA" CD. Might want to give that a whirl. If that doesn't work, post back and let us know, and we'll try to help you. It's probably something simple, just a setting somewhere. I have nero (at home), and I know that HitSquad has it, and he knows a lot more about it than I do We'll figure it out, just let us know how you fare with this first suggestion!

I would like to know if it is possible to create a dvd with video shots and then have words to a song typed on the screen where you can change the words and let the video just keep running? I am trying to help with this project for my church. I don't even know where to start. What equipment and software would I need. I have a dvd burner and access to a video camera.

What we do at church is put the words to the songs the praise band is singing on the wall with powerpoint. We have still pictures behind the words and each one changes when the song director cues the computer operator. I would like to put video behind the words to make a more dramatic effect. Is this possible?

All you need is a copy of acrobat which is going to cost you, the reader is free, acrobat is not. Basically a wordprocessing program that saves in the pdf format

I want to create my own peer-to-peer network without any internet connection in my college to play games like age of mythology with my friends. I am using Windows XP (with SP2) and we are provided with wi-fi in the college campus.
I tried creating a common workgroup with my friend but after creating it I had no idea where to go and what to do? Do I copy the entire game's folder in that workgroup folder?

Please help !!!

I have two similar networks in two different buildings. Both are comprised of a number of PC’s connect by a Linksys wireless router in each building. Unfortunately the distance between the buildings is too great to cost –effectively run a cable between the two networks, but I would still like to be able to share documents between the two networks. I was wondering if I could create a VPN network or some other type of WAN without purchase of a lot of new equipment. The computers are running a mix of Windows XP Pro & Home and I have two distinct DSL connections for each network with static IP addresses. I would be grateful to find out if I can even make a VPN without having a dedicated server or if there were another type of WAN that would better suite my needs. Once again all I need is file sharing. Thank you for your time.

XP Pro can act as a limited service VPN server.

Here is a decent tutorial an setting it up.

How do I turn a 350MB AVI file into a file that can be burned as a VCD for watching on a stand-alone DVD player? I already tried encoding it using TMPGEnc, but the resulting file is 800MB, and it won't fit on a CD. It's just 45 min of video. What do I need to do?

A:Creating VCD

could it possibly be copy-protected? if so, you cant do it. legally. and i do not know enough to even try.

Hi,

I have a bunch of photos and i want to create a ppt with photos in power point 2007.

To this ppt slide show i want to create 3d effect. When i view the slideshow the photos should look something like architecture or nature themes in windows 7 (these themes are available at [right click on desktop->personalize->aero themes]).

Main photo should be visible and remaining photos should be stacked and viewable in 3d effect. The same effect we see in apple ipods while browsing songs.

Can anyone please help me in creating this kind of ppt in power point 2007?

Thanks

A:Creating 3D PPT

This might be the closest thing you can get without 3rd party addons in MS PowerPoint 2007.

I am in the process of creating a batch file that will export a registry key to a text file, modify it, then import it back to the registry as a new string. The batch file will have to create 2 VBS scripts to call to which I'm having trouble with. For the most part the entire process works fine, but there are a few lines that I am unable to get to ECHO to the VBS file.

How can I get this command to successfully run from a .bat file? Let me know if you would like to see the entire script.

echo Wscript.Echo "Utility to copy Unicode text file to an ANSI text file." &_>>c:\witoansi.vbs

It should write the following line to c:\witoansi.vbs.
Wscript.Echo "Utility to copy Unicode text file to an ANSI text file." &_

Any help is appreciated.

up until recently i was able to make dvds no bother, but recently the program i use - (roxio compiler-EMC8) to compile the converted avi files and create menus has become very "buggy". What other programs are available that can mix dvd files in2 one dvd and also create menus. (preferably one that can also change the quality of the files so the dvd will be a certain size).

thanks fourth.

Excuse me if this is the wrong forum, it's unclear which one AVG issues are supposed to go in.

Every day, for the last several days, in the morning my computer has a pop-up advert for AVG 8 or something - the first time I thought "ok they're just letting me know about it" but now I've seen the same thing about 5 times it's getting really annoying. Is there any way to remove it?

Hello and Welcome to TSF

Unfortunately AVG is spamming you to upgrade to the newest version which is 8.0. You do not have to purchase it, it is still free.

I hope that I've posed in the correct forum.

I have at long last, accepted the fact that CD's are here to stay!
I've even gone so far as to purchase the necessary hardware to create my own!! (Aopen 52x24x52 CD R-W).

Before I launch into the "unknown", I would very much appreciate any advice/help, experience or pitfalls associated with the operation.

The intention is create a "loadable" CD - (to transfer a a program from the CD onto a hard disc).

As you will already have gathered, I'm as raw as it gets. Any advice will be much appreciated.

Hey kids...

I've been given a thumb drive to use as a Ghost Boot disk. It works great for the machines that will boot from USB. However, 75% of my machines are 6+ years old and will not boot from the USB. AND being a lowly Kumpwter Suport Teck I do not get access to the Ghost server itself. Meaning I cannot create my own boot disks. (I just love bureaucracy!) Anyone have a good FREE ISO creator?

Any thoughts on CPU, hard drive size, amount of RAM, proc speed, etc?

In this instance, it would be something of a stripper; nothing but the most fundamental software, Pro Tools or similar, synth sequencer, CD/DVD-ROM burner and MIDI card(s). Maybe a HD video driver, for flatscreen display.

What would a cost/benefit breakdown be, vs. buying one off the shelf?

Please respond; If anyone in music production has experience doing this, I'd appreciate your views.

Right now I have Roxio CD Creator 6. They now longer support it and I have a problem. When I try to create a CD from a file on my computer the Clasic Creator screen says I don't have a Default Recorder. Of course I have D drive which is a DVD/CD RW drive. If I can't get this bugger working ,which software should I get?

A:CD Creating

CDBurnerXP Pro and DeepBurner are two of the best freeware options. I would completely uninstall Roxio before installing one of the others to avoid conflicts.

Hello,
I have a baby coming in a couple of weeks and I'm interested in doing some things basic (for now) things with video editing and VCD creation.
I am going to buy a video camera in the next few weeks. We are getting a mini-DV camera but we haven't picked out the specific model yet. I do know that many programs allow you to capture and edit the video from a mini-DV camera and create disks. I don't have a DVD burner so I'm really only interested in VCD right now. Are there any suggestions for software that will allow me to do this? I have looked at Roxio Easy Media Creator 7 and I'd like to know if this will meet my needs. If I enjoy doing this I may be interested in getting a DVD burner and stepping everything up to better software, but for right now I'm just looking for something simple.
Thanks,
Mitch

I recently purchased a DELL Dimension E510. As you know DELL no longer furnishes OS Recovery disks with their computers. I downloaded instructions from Dell-Support for creating said CD containing my OS. However, the instructions which they provide don't conform to what I get when I follow them. Can anyone offer any solutions to this dilemma? TIA.

A:Creating CD Containing OS?

I recently set-up a Dimension 5150 version of that computer for a VP at work. Somewhere in the documentation there was a note that "Dell PC Restore by Symantec" (on a hidden partion) was to be used to restore the unit to factory fresh conditions and that making a recovery CD was no longer supported.

I called Dell tech support and raised a stink about how my boss wanted me to replace the existing SATA hard drive with a bigger one. I told them the PC Restore partition on the original drive would not do me any good in getting the OS installed on the new drive. They said they would send out a set of recovery discs sent to me at no charge. I had them the next day. I am not sure if the fact that the VP has purchased a few different Dell systems for the office in the last two years had anything to do with the attentive service.

The discs installed the OS and hardware drivers on the new drive without any problems and I even had the option of not installing some of the bloatware that was on the original HD.
