Preferred Solution: Latest Version of Adobe Flash Player

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Most of the plugins are that way. From the sound of it, fully featured 64-bit browsers are still a long ways off.

That's part of the reason you don't see 64-bit versions of Firefox.

All of a sudden, I am not able to download Adobe Flash Player (the latest version, of course). In the recent past, it would download within a couple of minutes. Now, it takes as long as 20-30 minutes, acting as if it is going to install. Ultimately, it comes back with an error: "Cannot contact reliable source." Thus, it doesn't install.

I am no longer able to watch videos or look at any site that requires flash player.

Any help would be appreciated, as I am not very good with technical issues.

FYI- I have Windows Vista, 32-bit.

Thanks.

Hi....

I have been running Secunia Online Software Inspector every other month to make sure I am up to date with all software.

Just ran it and it advised.

The detected version installed on your system is 11.2.202.233 (ActiveX), however, the latest patched version released by the vendor, fixing one or more vulnerabilities, is 11.2.202.235 (ActiveX).
I downloaded it via the Secunia site and ran it. But it did not do anything.

I then went to the Adobe website and downloaded it from there and ran it. But again it did not do anything.

I ran Secunia again to see if the latest version had been detected but it it still advising that the old version 11.2.202.233(ActiveX) is still there.

So, I am stuck and need some help from the experts.

I have run the log as advised, please see below. If you need any other info please let me now.

I have uninstalled the flash player, reinstalled it, installed older versions of flash. Cleared out the cache, and such...

It's really bothering me, and I can't think of what else to do.

The videos do not player smoothly, they're very jumpy.

It is especially bad in fullscreen. I have asked this question several times on several sites, and have received no replys. As someone who watches videos and plays games every day this is bad.
I really need help with.

You can try the version detection by Adobe to see if your installation has worked:http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/155/tn_15507.htmlIf it shows the version that you have mentioned, there could be a problem with the site that you are visiting.Otherwise you might need to re-install the latest version of Flash Player.

It's 10.2.156.32 and available at the 'usual' URL; http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/ which, if you use IE, will get you the Active X version (and a Google toolbar if you don't uncheck it!) which is installed online, but, if you use any other browser, you should get the 'plain' version as an .exe file. Whichever browser you update, don't forget to run the Adobe uninstaller first;http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/141/tn_14157.html

I haven't seen a Changelog yet so you may want to hold off updating until it becomes clear whether this is a 'security' upgrade or not (they usually are!).

A:New version of Adobe Flash Player!

Still no sign of a formal Changelog for the latest version but Adobe have now amended their website to refer to it, together with the following not very informative statement 'Adobe recommends that all Flash Player users upgrade to the most recent version of the player through the Player Download Center to take advantage of security updates'

Edit: I did post an URL to a relevant Adobe list of versions which has suddenly ceased to work and now points to an entirely different page! I have no idea how I managed that, apologies to anybody who saw this before the edit and was totally confused by it.

This time when I tried to download and install version 10.3.185.7 the installation never completes. I get no error message or anything. It just keeps saying installing the new version but that's as far as it goes. I'm very relucant to uninstall my current verison and trying to install the new version. If that also fails then I won't have Flash Player at all. Anyone else having the same problem with this version of Flash Player. Maybe the best thing is to just keep using version I currently have.

You can keep the version that you have if you are satisfied with its performance and the new version does not offer any new security enhancements.
If you wish to try for the new version, make a system restore point then uninstall. If you encounter problems you can easily reinstall by using system restore.

Hi not sure this is the right place to post this problem.

I use Game Ranger to launch my Links2003 Golf Game. For the past month and a half every time I try to enter this site I have to install Adobe Flash Player 11.5. It is already installed in the proper folders (system32) and (SysWOW64) I have contacted Game Ranger but they can not help.

I went to Adobe Site and got the uninstaller for the the Adobe Flash Player. followed all the instructions, Removed it completely, Removed Game Ranger completely. Then reinstalled the flash player 11.5 and checked to make sure it reinstalled into the proper folders. then reinstalled Game Ranger. and it worked fine for almost 5 days. Now I have to reinstall the same flash player every new day I go into Game Ranger.

Can you suggest anything

Thanks in advance

What am I doing wrong?!!!!!! I have deleted/reloaded the "most recent" Adobe Flash Player and "enabled" Java Script innumerable times only to have it work for a period of time and then again receive these error messages when trying to view YouTube or Comcast "Fan"! I know I am not alone with this problem, but is there a legitimate permanent fix so I don't have to continually go to my "internet options" to enable my java script (which I have never found disabled) and then uninstall/reinstall the Adobe Flash Player? In the "Control Panel -Add/Remove Programs" Adobe Flash Player 10 Active X (version 10.0.22.87) is listed but there is no file size listed on the right of the page? Comcast Fan directs me to download "Adobe Flash Player " ....shouldn't version 10 supercede version 9? I don't want to have to do this anymore! Thanks!

We have IE 6. Say a user goes to MSN.com. The ad on the right is a Flash object. Some of our users will see that object flickering when scrolling up or down on the page or when hovering their mouse over it. It's quite annoying. Almost all users are running Adobe Flash Player 9, but I think I've seen this happen on systems with Macromedia Flash Player 8 as well. Other systems don't have the problem. I've seen this happen on one system and not another while both seemed to have the same Flash objects installed.

Uninstalling all Flash players using Adobe's prescribed Flash Player uninstall tool seems to work at first, but users later complain again. Note that they just about always end up installing Flash Player 9 again, because sites ask for it. I don't believe I've seen this on any XP systems at all, including my own, but most of our users have Win2K.

Does anybody know why this happens or how to permanently fix it?

Thanks,
Hotshot309

A:Ie 6 - Flash Objects Flickering - Using Adobe Flash Player 9 Activex R28 (shockwave Flash Object V. 9.0.28.0)

More info: Adobe Flash Player 9, Macromedia Flash Player 8, and Macromedia Flash Player 10 all produce the same result--Flash objects that flicker when you put your mouse over any part of them. Moving Flash objects will flicker constantly while moving and stop flickering when the animation is done. SWF files (at least the one at www.stormwerks.com/linked/stuf/AYB2.swf) work without a problem when using Adobe Flash Player 9.

If I don't have Adobe Flash Player 9 installed, the Win2K machines prompt me to install them for almost any site that uses Flash (I guess most recent Flash objects cannot be viewed with the older Macromedia Flash Players).

Any suggestions?

I downloaded Adobe 8 off their official site and then experienced all kinds of problems with it but mainly it made multiple windows (about 12-15). I managed to shut all of them down and then I ran Norton Anti-Virus (latest) and SpySweeper (latest) full scan on both and didn't turn up anything. The computer seems to be okay. I'm not experiencing any problems. Can't find any evidence of Adobe 8 being on my system. I did a thorough search. Of course, I suppose that doesn't necessarily mean it couldn't be hiding out somewhere??? I did interrupt the download though. There was an icon that showed up along side the other icons and it said it was a Resume Adobe Downloads. I put it in the Recycle Bin. I'm going to delete it once I get off this forum. Any advice out there? Has anyone experienced any problems with Adobe downloads recently? One never knows what is going to happen next on the net!

A:Problem Downloading Adobe Latest Version

Hello zineeditor,

I would say that while you were closing those multiple windows you accidently stopped the Adobe download; hence, the resume download icon.
Seeing you mentioned that you were going to delete that icon, there is only one way around this issue now...that is go back to the Adobe site and download the update again.

Hope this helps.

Kind Regards,

I have been on Tech Support Guy and I have looked at this site for a solution and have not found anything that works so I hope someone can help.McAfee just did an update. I started receiving an error that JavaScript is not enabled or I don?t have the latest version of Adobe FlashPlayer. I checked the settings in McAfee to see if anything was blocking these applications and didn?t see anything that would have affected this. I then removed McAfee to see if this worked and it didn?t. I am having problems with my Microsoft Outlook that can be viewed in a web brower, Facebook (the chat portion and scrabulous), YouTube videos, Gmail (Standard doesn?t work HTML does), AIM, Hotmail, Jango, even the search tool in Windows, employment sites that use Javascript (the entire website doesn?t appear), and some other websites. I also have problems with downloading programs as in it doesn?t prompt me to start, I always get the message that my JavaScripts are not enabled or I don?t have the latest Adobe FlashPlayer. JavaScripts are enabled and I have uninstalled and reinstalled the latest version of Adobe FlashPlayer and gotten rid of all the older versions of Adobe FlashPlayer. All antivirus software has had their settings checked or uninstalled. It still doesn?t work and I have tried all the tips that have been suggested. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you! Here are tips that have already been tried...Disable virus protection...Reinstalled IE...Download Adobe Flash... Read more

A:Javascript Is Not Enabled Or I Donít Have The Latest Version Of Adobe Flashplayer

FYI: I got it working some how. Not sure what I did but it works.

The last thing I tried was a tip I found...

"then I re-registered the scripting .dll's (Start, Run, Regsvr32 vbscript.dll) (and then Start, Run, Regsvr32 jscript.dll)"
Can anyone tell me if this was the fix and what this did and why reinstalling Flash and Java wouldn't have cured this...

So a few days ago my computer stopped loading youtube video's and online music players. So I turned off the power, turned it back on and it played them. It kept on not playing them and I would just shut it off for longer periods of time. But now they wont load at all!!! And I have the latest version of adobe(9 right?) and we have java script nothing has been deleted or added to the hard drive! And a week ago it was working fine! Nothing else is broke or wrong with the computers! Just our Adobe wont load! And when I click on a youtube video instead of it saying you need to download the latest version of adobe, it just says this video is no longer available!

can i please get some help!?!

Hello.

I just saw an article on Google regarding the closing of Adobe Flash.

Could it be the end of the road for Adobe Flash? Find out about the security risks and what to do

Hi Anne, what is it you want to know exactly?

Adobe Flash has been a security nightmare for years.
I have actually removed it from my pc, along with Java. I use Google Chrome which comes with it's own flash plugin which I have set to "on demand" so sites with flash videos won't play automatically. But if I ever use IE (which is rare nowadays) it doesn't have the flash plugin.

A lot of sites are switching to HTML5 now. It will take a few years but flash really does need to be killed.

Greetings;. Are these the same thing or two different things.?

A:Adobe flash player Adobe flash player active x

Adobe Flash Player has several variants for different operating systems and browsers and is now on version 11.9.  The active-x variant is used with Windows Internet Explorer.  There is another Windows variant for plugin based browsers, such as Firefox.  There are variants for Mac OS X and Linux, although the last version produced for Linux was 11.2.

This further enhances the point that these software mfg's need to start putting security first when they build their code.

It's completely ridiculous and irresponsible nearly 15 years later after they were all warned about it!

Hi,

I have Windows Vista 32 bit and from the beginning I have problems opening pdf's from internetsites: my computer suggests that I install the recent version of Adobe what I did (succesfully as adobe says). I tried some of the suggestions I found on the internet: uninstall - install, execute as administrator, change the compatibility to Windows server pack 2, upgrated the internet explorer, but still it doesn't work. Any suggestions?

Thanks a lot, Swaantje

my previous version?

have NEVER had these issues watching online vids using firefox until the past few days. Now I am getting routine aadobe flash crashes on youtube, the only place I watch much video. I have 20 mbps downloads so speed is not the issue.

How can I roll back the version of firefox or flash? or if you have similar issues how did you fix them?

A:latest firefox and/or adobe flash = garbage so how can I go back to

Go to Index page • mozillaZine Forums and search for such things as Flash; there is no reason to revert to an earlier version of Firefox, for that is not where the problem lies.

I can't tell exactly which could be causing these issues as I updated my flash to 10.1 and my NVIDIA drivers to the latest 257.21 (upgrading from 197.45) at the same time, but I am now (coincidentally?) seeing the two following issues:

1) When playing embedded flash videos in web pages, there is sometimes a green/garbled area on parts of the screen that I never noticed before

2) In re-generating thumbnails of flv videos on my computer, various ones' thumbnail previews are a mostly (or totally) grey/garbled/snow-screen picture

Anyone else experiencing this or having similar issues with one or the other or both?

Just curious.

A:Issues with Adobe Flash 10.1 or latest NVIDIA 257.21 drivers or both?

I'd start by rolling back the video driver and simply rerunning what your were when you experienced the issue, if it goes away you have your answer and a simple fix, if not I'd see if there are posts discussing the 10.1 flash and how folks are dealing with it.
