I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Initially my system got crashed while running and when it was recovering in the blue screen, I instead of letting it complete the recovery , hard booted my system by pressing power button for few seconds. After which when I started my system, I am constantly getting Blank screen on my laptop, even tried to start my system in Bios but no help, tried pressing various function keys at startup of windows like F2, F9, F10, F11 and also tried Esc key. All the time getting blank screen only. Even tried to remove any external usb and remove power cord and then battery. After pressing power button for few seconds, putting battery  and power cord back, still no use. Even tried removing the RAM and putting back. Also tried connecting to external monitor to check if there is any issue with laptop screen, didn't worked. I understand its probably an hardware issue, but I want to try to fix the issue myself instead of taking to service shop. Would really appreciate any sort of help regarding my issue, I have already went through numerous blogs but no help.

When I turned on my laptop just now it started up normal but then went to a black blank screen instead of my desktop..I ran a hard disk test and the test said replace hard disk..I don't understand any of this what possibly happened? Or how do I fix this issue? Please I need help!

A:HP Pavilion dv6000 stays on black screen

Thank you for joining in on the HP Support Forums and Welcome @Dawndi85.  I will do my absolute best to help! You had mentioned receiving a black screen on your HP Pavilion Dv6000 Notebook PC and you had done a disk test and the test had said to replace the hard disk.  Do you have recovery media? Can you please let me know the error codes or exact error/response of the hard disk test? Here are two documents that will help you troubleshoot to find out the deeper cause. Hard Drive Failure Errors: Imminent Failure, Smart, BIOHD, HD535, etc.Testing for Hardware Failures.Have you tried to Restore the BIOS? If not, please try this step first. Then, just to be on the safe side, back up your data that way it does not get lost. However, there might be certain conditions that cause a hard drive failure message to display when a problem does not exist (a false positive). To fix false positive hard drive errors, please try updating the hard drive firmware. Have you backed up any of your information? If not, here is a document for you on Backing Up Your Files (Windows 10, 8). You may be able to get your stuff off the hard drive. I would much rather see you safe than sorry.  Could you please provide me with your Model Number (How Do I Find My Model Number or Product Number?) and Which Windows Operating Systems you are running. Please let me know if these steps resolve... I have an HP Pavilion dv6000. However, the problem is that the screen's dead and I can't see for love nor money anything on it to be able to connect a TV screen to it to be able to use it as an external screen. The machine itself still works, the screen's just on the blink. I have NO idea what keyboard commands I'd have to use to blindly connect the TV to the laptop to make the TV turn into a computer screen. I have one cable attached to both the TV and the laptop, but do I need another? I think the cable I have right now is a VGA. Would you help, please? It's really important.

Don't think I need to mention the OS in this forum, but just cuz it's reminding me to do so in the banner - Windows Vista lol

Thank you!

Hello a few days ago I could turn on this laptop for some reason (running windows xp) so came to the conclusion that the mobo fried so I bought another mobo out of ebay. I changed it and now the computer boots and I get the windows xp welcome sound but with a grey screen with some dull lines of color vertical. So I hooked up an external monitor and I see video up to first windows xp logo and it changes to black to go to the final screen the monitor looses signal. With the external monitor I can get to the bios but I don't see anything in there related to the video which I find weird. Does anyone know what might be causing this problem? Could it be that the mobo is bad?

I am not sure what is wrong with my computer. It seems to charge fine (according to the light) and all the usual buttons light up on the keyboard when you turn it on. However, nothing shows up on the screen. I can hear the fan as well. I tried to connect it with a projector with the VGA port, it did not work either. Any help would be appreciated.

So, I had no issues with my laptop (HP DV6119US) until I upgraded on the memory last night. This morning at startup, I get the power buttons and the laptop appears to be on, however, I have a black screen. I shutdown and restarted, pressed F10 and I get video. Currently running a Hard Disk Self Test, No issues.

OS: MS Windows XP w/2 Kingston 1 Gb DDR2 RAM modules.

Question: Can anybody tell me what's going on with my system? Laptop was running fine, perhaps I should remove and re-install memory modules?? Or, go back to "as issued" memory of 1 Gb total RAM?

Update: I see the HP "splash" at start-up, and quickly disappears, but nothing more than the follow-on black screen.

Thank you,

Centennial, CO

Please see the picture below. This error happens randomly when I close my lid, and/or move my laptop fast from one place to the other. I get either the error screen below or a blank screen. Both the error screen below and blank screen require me to hold the power button down and reboot my W530.
Has anyone ever experienced this error? What is the cause of this issue? Does anyone know of a fix that won't void my warrantee?

Looks like a loose/damaged connection between the display and the laptop. no way to fix it without opening the laptop. Which warranty do you have? if you have the on-site, they send a tech or parts out to fix it.

I have here my Mother in Laws C670-14D and its developed an issue whereby when you power up the screen is blank. it does have backlight and you hear the windows startup sound that you get before you login as windows starts up.

I can see the screen if I start in safe mode, in fact I'm using the PC in safe mode as I type this.

I did hae a similar problem in the past with another Toshiba laptop and that was windows 8, the issue was connected with power save settings but I've tried all of those and no luck. Also tried the remove battery suggestions, nothing has worked.

I'm guessing windows has done an update that is causing this but I'm at a loss and google has turned up nothing.

Running Windows 10 Home edition 64 bit

Any ideas anyone?

Thanks in advance

I have an Acer AspireOne D150-1322. When the netbook is open less than 45 degrees I can view and work on the computer, but if I open it greater than that the screen starts flashing Grey, White, Red, Green, Blue, and other colors like it's during a screen test.

When I lower the screen to less than 45 degrees it is ok again. If I connect an external monitor to it, the display on the external monitor is fine if I open the netbook all the way, but still flashes different colors on the netbook.

Anyone seen this before?

A:Netbook Screen Not Working When Fully Open

My initial thoughts would be a dodgy connection somewhere. How old is the machine, is it still under warranty at all?

If not, you could always take the screen casing off and check the connections to the screen / inverter board. They are normally just plug in type cables and may have become loose.

A:HP Pavilion g6 w/blank screen

Hook up the laptop to an external monitor. If that works then the LCD screen has failed, and needs to be replaced. If you get nothing with the monitor, but the computer sounds like it is booting up, then the video chip on the motherboard has failed and you will need to replace the motherboard.

Laptop stopped displaying after leaving it for an hour assumed it hibernated.  Attempted to wake it up with the space key, no luck.  Rebooted the system, no luck.  Noticed constant blinking led's on Cap Lock and Num Lock.  Left it off and plugged in for 2 days, it fired up.  Collected important files decided to reboot system, no luck since (about a month now)  History: started with XP updated to Windows 7 pro, then got updated to Windows10 pro.  Recent Battery messages at start up.  Decided to replace battery to see if this would solve the issure.  Left it Charging (think since no feed back) and attempted reboot, no luck.  Will attempt to recharge BIOS battery.  Have attempted RAM reinsertion method.  Noticed dark discoloration on the back of lid, could be indications of a burnt display.  Any other opinion/suggestions on trouble shooting would be appreciated  Thanks in advance all

I take out AC, then battery and hold down power button for one minute, plug in AC and try again - FAILED

first of all, i have no background knowledge of this laptop, i was just givin it whenever one of my friends was fustrated about this problem.

Anyways, bacl to the laptop, whenever i turn it on the screen does that little dim light where you can tell the screen has power, then shows the HP logo. once the HP logo is gone, it goes right back to that dim lit screen and stays like that.

ive tryed waiting it out but after about 4 hours it still did that screen problem. the solution of taking out the battery and holding the power button did not work for it eathier, i tryed it multiple times. also pressing f8 or f11 at start up does not show up with anything.

I do not care about any files or programs on this computer, i just want it to work normally, i am probably going to end up selling it anyway so dont worry about trying to save my files while fixing it

thanks to anyone who can help me, this is really annoying me.

I unplugged the power cord while my laptop was still on. It continued to run. I left it for a few hours and forgot that it was unplugged. When I came back it would not boot up and the screen remains completely dark. It just beeps for a total of ten times in what sound like five groups of two closer beeps. The light on the caps lock button also flashed with the same pattern. So far I have done a hard reset, reseated the two RAM cards and pulled the RAM cards out one by one and trying to start it with one card out or swapping them. The symptoms remain the same.I found a page that said two blinks or beeps mean there's a problem with the BIOS.Any help or suggestions?! Thanks!

Recently, when I start my computer, the Asrock splash screen appears, followed by the pulsating windows logo. Once this is done, it moves on to a black screen with only the cursor visible. The cursor is movable but no key commands seem to do anything. Eventually the desktop appears but it can take up to two minutes and seems to be getting longer every time. I was also looking at my event log and found this entry: "The Religious Religion service failed to start due to the following error:
The system cannot find the file specified." I'm not very knowledgeable on the subject but "The Religious Religion service" sounds a lot like a virus. I'm not sure if these two things are connected, and an AV scan has turned up negative. Thanks for any help.

Hello there, Recently, the screen on my 23xi monitor started to go blank after some usage (the time varies).  When this happens, the power light on the right corner of the monitor remains lit, however the power button doesn't do anything when pressed.  I don't think it's my computer putting it to sleep, since I've already checked my power settings for that, as well as the ones on the monitor's OSD.  The only way I can get a video image back is by unplugging and replugging the power connector located on the back.  I've had the monitor for only a year and a half.  Any ideas? Thanks!

Hardware Dell AMD desktop, 3 GB ram, pre-loaded from dell with Vista, SP 2 is installed.

Initial problem: Windows screen went black, Icons still show and was able to open IE. It was not full function, lost fav and it did not remember me when I went to know sites that use to have my data. Also in the lower right hand corner of the black screen it said I was not running a genuin copy of windows vista.

It would not allow me to do a restore in normal mode. Booted in safe mode and was able to restore to a previous date.

When I booted back up in normal mode all looked fine, went to start IE and it comes up with a white screen for about 3 seconds then just closes back down. Can start IE from safe mode but it still has limited function.

MCafee anti-virus is current
Installed Malwarebytes while in safe mode, ran it and it found 3 problems, deleted the files but the problem still exists. Can not tell you which MB fixed, I did not write them down.

Should I try downloading IE 8 while in safe mode, install it and then re-boot in normal mode?

Any help wouldbe appreciated.
