I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I'm using a TASCAM external USB connected audio interface to connect guitars, mics, etc, to my Pavillion 500 for recording purposes. The USB connection provides line-in to the PC (and my DAW software), and allows simultaneous line-out for playback and monitoring - my speakers are connected to the TASCAM interface, not the speaker outputs from the PC. This process worked well using the standard installed integrated CODECs that came with the PC. However, the CODECs on the PC are proving to be "underpowered" and can't support the recording software I'm using, without causing latency/delay problems. So I've recently upgraded the PC by installing a Soundblaster PCIE soundcard - however, now the USB audio connections to the external interface are not recognised and line-in and line-out connections can only be achieved by using the jack plugs on the new sound card - which works, but is not what I'm after. Is there anything I can do to get the USB connection to the "soundcard" back - is this a configuration issue, a PC issue or a Soundcard issue ? Any ideas?

A:Pavillion 500 upgrade to sound card

Hi @bassman,Welcome to the HP Support Forums! From your description your issue is related to linking connecting to the Soundblaster audio card you installed using a USB interface to your TASCAM device. I am happy to help you with this. In answer to your question, I would advise you try the support forums both for your new Soundblaster card and probably your TASCAM device as well to see if there is some specific configuration required to link the two. TASCAM Support  - tascam.com/supportCREATIVE Worldwide Support - support.creative.com I hope that helps, and if it does resolve your issue, please mark this post as a solution. Kudos would also be appreciated.

I have a HP Pavillion 23. I upgraded to Windows 8 yesterday. As I went through the final stages of set up, it kept telling me to hook up the ethernet cable, the only option it gave me to connect to the internet. My PC came with a wireless card installed, which worked perfectly before the upgrade. I have searched everywhere and the wireless is just gone. It does not detect any wireless device at all. You would see it listed as a Network Controller along with all the other devices in the device manager. It would have a little yellow ! mark on the lower right of the Network Controller. It will not be under the network adapters section of the device manager. Did you just try installing the driver for it anyway? http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=cp-112272-1&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&os=4132&product=5261633&sw_lang=

Once the laptop doesn't come with a dedicated vga (nVidia/ATI) you can't add it to the system. The only way how to get a dedicated vga to the system is to replace the motherboard with the dedicated vga already on it but it could be pretty expensive.

Does this machine require a BIOS update to complete a WLAN card update successfully? Thanks!

A:Pavillion G7 Laptop WLAN Card Upgrade

HI. The new bios would be F.52, updating the bios not to make a wireless card type AC-XXX to be compatible, to solve this, you have alternative as external USB cards that could improve what you indicate. ASUS USB Wireless N300 USB-N14 Regards.

Wireless N seems really slow on my PC, I had computers before that had wireless AC and it was much faster than the one I have now.
Is it possible to upgrade to an Intel Dual Band Wireless AC or Dell wireless ac from wireless n? I seen wireless ac cards that can fit into the PC I currently have but I need to make sure that it will be compatible with the system.
Thank you.

A:Can I upgrade the Inspiron 7459 AiO Wireless n card to wireless ac?

Version of Windows?  Do you have the lasted WiFi driver for the 'n' card?
You should be able to upgrade. The Dell specs for this model list 'n' and 'ac' wireless, but 'ac' was  probably an optional upgrade. So you need to know the specs for the wireless M.2 slot. And the card needs to be compatible with whatever version of Windows is running.
You could get a USB>WiFi dongle instead of an internal WiFi card. Either way, you need a router that's  compatible with 'ac'.
Have you tried changing some of the driver settings for the 'n' card in Device Manager? Can you change the 2.4 GHz channel the PC and router use to communicate? If the current (default) channel is crowded, even if it's from the neighbor's WiFi, that can slow the speed.
Is distance to the router an issue?  And keep in mind that 'ac' typically has a shorter working distance than 'n'.

Can you change / upgrade a wireless card in an Inspiron 15-3537 ?

A:Wireless card upgrade

I don't see why not.  According to the Service Manual, it appears to use an mPCIe card (not M.2!!), and it has 2 antennas, so a 2x2 802.11ac card should do just fine.  When I've previously upgraded WiFi cards on other models, at worst I just ended up with the WiFi indicator LED behaving differently.  On the original card, it was either solid green when the radio was on or off when the radio was off; with the newer card, it blinked when the card was transmitting or receiving.  I didn't care.

A:Wireless Card upgrade

It is an AMD system. The internal wireless card is not an authorized end user serviceable item. You would have to remove the bottom cover and check to see if there is one antenna or 2. But it has no "whitelist" so you can install any wireless card of the correct form factor and with the correct number of antennae.  Here is the Service Manual: Manual This appears to be for the 15-ab000-ab099 models but it does apply to your laptop.  Page 38 shows wi-fi card installation. The best card offered by HP is this one: Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 7265 802.11 ac 2x2 WiFi + BT 4.0 Combo Adapter (non vPRO) 784644-005 That is a very good one but I question using Intel wi-fi cards on an AMD laptop. I would install a Broacom AzureWave 802.11ac card as here: http://www.amazon.com/AzureWave-AW-CE123H-Bluetooth-Half-Size-PCI-Express/dp/B00HRFS1GQ/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1459262508&sr=8-2&keywords=Broadcom+802.11ac This will put the warranty in jeopardy but is at least a bit easier on this one than some models which would require motherboard removal to install a wireless card.  If this is "the Answer" please click "Accept as Solution" to help others find it.

A:Wireless Card Upgrade

Scotty mate providing the new adaptor will fit see this for getting the old one out and the new in but I suppose it is just as well to check first to see if the change is possible. Where from I am nor sure mate maybe the maker of the adaptor you are proposing to use.

Taking apart Toshiba laptops and notebooks. DIY guides. Disassembly instructions.

Removing keyboard and speaker cover from Toshiba Satellite P205 notebook see up to and then point 12. Now just be aware that to do this you need to be VERY careful with the small ribbon cables and please read the first ref thoroughly before starting there is a definite right and wrong way to remove and insert said cables because of those tiny cable retainers that are hard to see and hold out when replacing them.

A TIP do this on a large spread out white (preferably) bath towel as dropping the small screws onto a hard surface nearly alway results in them skidding off the hard surface of say a table and then lost forever, the towel stops this happening in 999 out of a 1000 drops.

The alternative mate is a USB hub.

Bought TWO cards, mini-PCI-e Wifi-N 150 mbps however the laptop doesn't seem to just accept it - either one. Is it some sort of IBM thing preventing 3rd. party Wireless cards? I am in XP SP2 with max memory.  (Kindly don't suggest me to use g instead of N as the place I am in, transmitting exclusively in N only). 2nd. problem: I used the IBM provided demos, document but somehow my Trackpad just doesn't accept any taps! The UltraNav wizard shows everything is fine, enabled, etc. The right-left buttons also does not work - up or the down ones. Track pad works, i.e. the pointer moves, etc. but clicks just doesn't work! 3rd. : Is it possible for me to swap out the HDD and replace with SSD? Realizing what's happening with my WiFi upgrade, I am hesitant to spend money and attempt upgrading... Kindly help.

I have an HP Envy TS15 Notebook,  (HP Envy 15t-j000 Quad edition CTO notebook).  Has Intel i7-4700 and 12 GB mem.  Operating Win 10 pro 64bit.  Since new, the wireless has had frequent drops with the current wireless card (an Intel 2230 card installed with the computer when new) and the warranty is expired.   I want to upgrade the wireless card to get the 5G.  Installed is a Netgear AC1900 smart wifi router, model R7000.  These frequent wireless drops do not occur with 2 other HP and Lenovo laptops.  I want to be able to get the higher 5G speed that I am paying for. Can you advise1) is the HP Envy TS15 wireless card upgradeable?2) what form factor  must the replaceent card be to fit?3) which dual band wireless card would fit and work?  Prefer to stay with Intel.  Would the Intel dual band wireless AC 7260 card work?  How about the Intel AC8260?  Thank you for any information.Kind regards,Jay

A:Can I upgrade the wireless card to 802.11ac

There is no whitelist. Here is the Service manual: See p. 96 Manual You have the 17 inch model and for the 15 inch AMD models HP actually offered an AC card. This one: Broadcom BCM 4352 WLAN 802.11 AC+BT4 2x2HMC for HP Pavilion 15 AMD computer models available for Windows 8.1 and Windows 7 724935-005 This is an equivalent aftermarket card sold through amazon.com: http://www.amazon.com/AzureWave-Broadcom-BCM94352HMB-802-11-867Mbps/dp/B00IFYEYXC/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1453758370&sr=8-4&keywords=Broadcom+802.11ac That card would work for you but, I do have to warn that installation is no easy matter. It requires extensive disassembly and will jeopardize the warranty. You should not try to install an Intel card as they are known not to play nice with AMD computers. The Broadcom will be your best bet.  If you have questions let us know.  If this is "the Answer" please click "Accept as Solution" to help others find it.

I'm wondering if it's possible to upgrade the wireless card in my 15-af131dx laptop to one that supports 802.11ac. I know USB adapters are available, but they tend to get in my way, so I'd much rather upgrade the internal card if it's possible. And, if it is possible, what type of card is compatible with my laptop?

No you still have the whitelist on that model laptop so your wireless options are limited to what HP provided as factory options.
