Q: my laptop ( ideapad 500 ) is not using the amd graphics card at all

hello, i have a lenovo ideapad 500 laptop with intel hd graphics 520 and amd r7 m360 and every thing in the laptop like games and apps use only intel not amd i tried to do a clean uninstall with ddu in safe mode for both intel and amd and got the latest drivers for both and updated my windows but still amd isn't working and it's normally detected in the devise manager , i contacted amd and all i got from them is update your drivers and do the high performance stuff in amd switchable graphics settings but i already done all these steps and nothing solved it for me so they told me to contact the laptop manufacture because the laptop uses the customized hardware. The laptop manufacturer could customize its hardware and drivers to support the specific features and functions of the laptop, where the AMD driver could have the limited support for such product. so please someone help me with this, my amd is detected and lenovo solution cenetr passed the test for the amd graphics card and still, nothing works on amd

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Hey there, can I replace my ideapad's graphics card? It only got Geforce 920MX and I want to change it to a better one. and also, I've experienced a bluescreen of death on this laptop. I only had this for around 4 months, the error below has nvlddmkm.sys something. Can I get a fix for this one? I'm currently trying the solution microsoft gave to a user, it's by removing the driver and reinstalling a new one from nvidia. Are there any other solutions?

Hello, Just purchased the ideapad 500s...love the laptop but after a computer scan through the lenovo solution center, i keep getting a failed result because of the intel graphics 520 hd card.  The 'mathematical operations test' keeps failing.  I have re-installed the driver through the lenovo support website but it did not take care of it.  is this because of Windows 10?  I am thinking there are still some quirks with the operating system and compatability with hardware. Thank you.

A:Ideapad 500s - graphics card issue

I've never owned a Lenovo laptop until recently, I've always bought my computers from Dell. However, a couple of week ago, I decided to purchase the Ideapad 500 and I'm already having an issue with the Intel Graphics Card. When I watch videos, like from YouTube, the images keep scrambling and there is a horizontal, white band of interference that keeps flashing at the bottom of the screen. I've even started getting the blue and black error screens. I ran the Lenovo Solutions Center app and got the same result. There was a failure with the Intel HD Graphics Card, "Mathematical Operations Test." Here is the Results Code: WVC007002-RK8WFH. I checked the Intel website for the latest version of the graphics card to see if mine is out of date, and it is. My version is 10.18.15.4279, which was released, 8/24/2015. The new version is 15.40.10.4300, which was released, 10/26/2015. The recommendations given by the Intel website for updating the driver, seem to address the issues I'm having with the blue and black screens. Anyway, since my driver is out-of-date, I downloaded and tried to install this latest one, but I got an error message, saying it must be done by the manufacture. I then checked Lenovo's website to see if they had it for downloading, but the only graphics card that Lenovo has available is out-of-date too. I have a two-year warranty, but I don't want to ship my laptop just to have my graphics card updated.

A:Can you change the graphics card on an Ideapad Yoga 13?

Hey Jaalhu, Most of the laptops have gfx processors so you'd have to swap the proc. For example, Intel HD Graphics 520 or 620 in processor. You can always lookup your graphics properties by searching "msinfo" on your computer then expanding Components and select display. Hope this helps.

Good day and welcome to the community. Please provide more information about your system (model, OS, recent updates, etc), otherwise it will be difficult for the community to assist you. We will also be able to confirm that your post is in the proper forum.

In general, there are very few laptops that ever offered the ability to upgrade the graphics system (MXM daughter card). On most systems with a discrete GPU, it is soldered to the system board.Regards.

My graphics card or driver is stopped by windows (code 43) after fall creators update and bios update from lenovo website (lenovo service bridge). It was perfectly fine before and now i have uninstalled my graphics driver and have tried to reinstall several times but it has always failed. I tried to install the driver i got from lenovo website and the nvidia website but neither worked. The bios update is this BIOS Update for Windows 7 (64-bit), Windows 8 (64-bit), Windows 10 (64-bit) - Notebook3JCN29WW2017/06/07I don't know what went wrong because both the fall creators update and bios went well. Anyone got any thoughts or suggestion how to get rid of this problem? Is it because the creators update or the bios update? It really is bothering for me because i can't run apps that need nvidia graphics card smoothly. Thanks in advance for your attention and reply.

First off I have an ideapad y510p with a Gt755m, So a little while ago i got a BSOD with the code driver power state failure after updating the driver and the laptop would constantly restart only to get the same error code over and over and I was unable to launch safemode, Going into the bios i was able to convert the graphics settings from discreate to UMA and this switched to the intel graphics allowing me to access windows and activate safe mode. Long story short I tried several different methods to fix the problems but the error code kept arising so i finally settled to uninstalling the device and its drivers and restarted the laptop. Now the graphics card won't even be detected and I can't install any drivers because the software says no compatible hardware is detected. Im just curious but does anyone have any solutions or ideas? Or is the GPU just dead?

*Note - I also forgot to mention I did change the BIOS option from UMA back to discrete

Hello,  I have the Y700 Touch-15ISK Laptop (ideapad) which I received as a replacement for my last Lenovo which could not be fixed by Lenovo Support. Since I received this as a replacement, my warranty only lasted a month (the residual from my initial warranty). Now, I have only had it for a few months and it has had many instances of the blue screen of death with my computer suddenly needing a restart. I do not have warranty anymore so I am reaching out to you all. The hardware scan says the Mathmatical Operations Test on my Intel (HD) Graphics 550 card failed. I got the result code: WVC007002-UL7VFK. I could not find any information about this code online.  Through the Lenovo website I tried to update my Intel driver by downloading the one the website recommended for my computer after I entered my Serial # (I think it was Intel VGA) and after it downloaded I got a warning saying: "Error: The driver being installed is not validated for this computer. Obtain the appropriate driver from the computer's manufacturer. Setup will exit." Regarding the blue screen of death, there have been several different error messages, but the one that comes the most often is "DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE". The most recent blue screen message was "Stop Code: SYSTEM SERVICE EXCEPTION; What failed: igdkmd64.sys" I am not sure if these problems are related, but it seems the most important issue is the graphics driver since I use a lot o... My laptop (envy m6 1162la) was not using the graphics card (AMD Radeon 7640M). I tried reinstalling the software AMD Catalyst but it wasn't detecting it either. I checked the windows device manager and the graphics card was greyed out (had to turn the option to show hidden devices because it wasn't showing). I tried updating drivers but it kept showing an error message (Code 45). Then I followed the steps in this guide and tried uninstalling the device, rebooting and reinstalling. Now it's not even showing in the manager, and I can't find the driver download page in the HP website. I also checked the AMD legacy software (catalyst) because it said it included the old drivers, but no luck so far. I'd appreciate any help in this matter. Thanks in advance.

A:Graphics card for laptop

Most laptops are not meant to be used for gaming and thus have no capacity to upgrade anything other than memory or a hard drive. I would bet your graphics card is built into the motherboard and cannot be upgraded. I have however seen docking stations that allow you to add an external video card or other peripheral but I would hazard a guess Advent has no such thing.

My Problem is that I am going to buy a laptop (A Toshiba Satellite A105-S2081) from TigerDircet. The site says it has an ATI Radeon® Xpress 200M graphics card.

My question is. Is this a good card for movies and games?

Like could it play Guild Wars, Oblivion, AOE 3, BF2, and the big MF *FEAR*

I dont know anything about laptop graphics cards or what its equvalent to in nVidia cards. ATI is like another language to me

Thanks for the help.

A:Graphics card for a new laptop.

The 200M is the chipset. It has onboard graphics that are derived from the ATI X300. The X300 is not much of a graphics card. Not sure where this performance falls compared to an X300. Chances are it's lower or about the same.

Here's some more info on the chipset:

I think we have had at least half a dozen of this same thread already. Please! Don't think that you are somehow original! With 99% probability someone has asked your question before and you can find the answer by using the amazing "search" feature.

As a rule you cannot replace the graphics on laptops. Only some very special models have replaceable cards or PCI(-E) slots. Some docking stations have PCI(-E) slots too. I really doubt that your consumer laptop fits into any of these categories.

Just wondering, as I have a good processor and am going to upgrade the memory on my laptop, as to whether you can upgrade the graphics card on a laptop? I have a Samsung V20 2Ghz Pentium 4 with 248MB Ram (at the moment) and Intel Graphics card, which is rubbish and why I want to change it.

I just wondered, seeing as a good bog standard (better than Intel shite) card is quite cheap, whether you could put it in a laptop or not.

Thanks.

A:New Graphics card in laptop...?

Nope, 99% of all laptops have the video integrated into the motherboard. There usde to be options for docking stations where you could add an external video or other card to. Might be worth a look on samsung's web site.

A:Best Graphics Card for my laptop?

Hi Jacob and welcome to Vista Forums

Sorry, but you cannot upgrade the graphics capability of a laptop as the GPU is part of the motherboard.

What you could do is to upgrade the memory of your laptop so that you have the maximum amount installed that is supported.

Hiiii

Thanks for taking the time to read.

So I was in school today, talking to a friend about CoD5:WaW. And He was telling me his laptop was too slow. And I was saying mine was also lagging when playing it. And he was telling me he was getting a "laptop PCi graphics card" to make it run better. I had no idea what a PCi card is.

So my first question is, What is a PCi slot/port/thing? On my laptop on the side there is this small little button and then a press it in, it extends out and a little slot beside it is then open. <<< Is that the PCi port?

Secondly, Can I get a new graphics card? I wanna play games on my Laptop without having to buy a new computer. :/

And If I could do this, could anyone reccommend a good, cheap PCi graphics card?

its actually a pcmcia slot, i wish it was that easy to upgrade a video card in a laptop but it cant really be done unless the video memory is shared. you can adjust how much memory is allocated for the video card in the bios, hope that will help.
