I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi and welcome.

Well first of all have you switched the Wireless adapter on your laptop on?
there's usually a little sliding switch at the front, back, side, or underneath your laptop. check the manual and the manual wil show you where?

Right then. I've had my network up and running fine for months, however today its stopped working.

My computer connected to the router functions perfectly as usual, yet my upstairs computer and other things i connect to the network with fail. I've restarted and powered off/on, fiddled my settings etc. all to no effect.

One thing i did find odd, on a net test i ran with a xbox 360, it showed no DNS, IP, default gateway etc. All were showing as 0.0.0.0.

The router itself is a Belkin Wireless G-Router, model # F5D7633-4 Ver. 1144uk

I am 16 so while not computer illiterate, i'm not amazing either, though the network was set up by me and has functioned for about 9 months up till now.

Edit: Its also not the signal reaching the reciever, as my computer is showing 4 out of 5 signal. The computer stalls when trying to connect to the network, and i've tried reseting my WPA key to make sure its right

Any thoughts guys? Or any questions on anything i may have missed out?

Thanks in advance

This is the upstairs computer? Have you tried reconfiguring the routers settings or replacing the wireless router

Which did the trick and made it work. But i noticed every 2 hours or so the adapter would disconnect from my internet while everyone else in the house who are on xp/vista works percfectly.

Now im not sure if this is because my network adapter isn't compatilbe with windows 7 or something else.

Can anyone help me out, and also is anyone else getting this problem

If there is nothing i can do what network adapter would you guys recommend which works with windows 7 and i can get in the uk :P?

I am having trouble with the installation of a Belkin network adapter on my PC. I run Windows XP home edition. I have a dynalink ADSL modem installed. Everytime I install the Belkin network adapter my system crashes and shuts down. If I uninstall it everything works fine again. I am following the instrcutions in the manual. I get a blue screen saying windows needs to shut down to prevent damage to my computer. The error message is
Driver-IRQ not LESS or EQUAL.
Am I right in assuming it is a IRQ conflict and if so how do I go about rectifying this as when I install the network adapter my system crashes so I cannot go into anything to change any settings. Thanks in advance.

Hi guys I am Andrew and I recently installed the Beta Release of Windows 7 well the issue I am having is that when ever I run the CD it says that it is not compatible, well I am using an F5D7050 adapter and a 1444 router. So is there anyway to bypass it to make it think it is Vista? It is compatible with Vista, Xp, and previous versions. Also after upgrading is there a way to downgrade back to XP which is what I am running, Windows XP Pro SP3.

Thanks!

Hi,
Hopefully somebody will be able to help.
I have a Belkin Wireless f5d7632-4 at home. Currently the computer attached to the router and one other computer are connected. Both run XP home edition and work fine.
However, I am unable to connect a third computer to the internet, which runs Vista. It will connect to the network but I can't connect to the internet. I have tried all the diagnostic checks that come with Windows but all to no avail.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Anyone got any advice on how to connect this device, i'm not sure wether or not it is my router or belkin that is being a pain in the bum.

I'm staying with my parents for a couple of weeks so want to connect my laptop to their wireless network. I have an ACER aspire 6930z laptop which uses Vista - I connect this at my house to my network with no problems (bebox). Here, my parents are on virgin broadband and have a belkin wireless G plus mimo router. They have other laptops connected to this network, again without a problem.

I can see the wireless network on my laptop and have entered what I believe to be the correct WEP key on my laptop to access the network. When I connect it is connected with limited connectivity (although the signal strength is excellent), Diagnostics says 'there might be a problem with one or more network adaptors on this computer'.

Would anyone be able to help advice me on what I might be doing wrong?

Thanks

I'm trying (desperately) to set up my network on Windows 7, but have hit a bump in that it just cannot find my network.

I checked Device Manager to see if the card was found - it was with a troubleshoot exclamation point on it.

I removed the card, used the installation disc and am not able to get very far. After the install (after which nothing happens), I click on the Belkin Wireless Networking Utility icon on the desktop and it says "missing shortcut: searching for Belkinwcui.exe", after which I get a window saying "The item Belkinwcui.exe that this shortcut refers to has been changed of moved, so this shortcut will no longer work properly".

That exe file isn't anywhere in my computer, searching through Explorer. In fact, in the Belkin install folder (Program Files (x86) -> Belkin ->FSD8001v1...) there just looks like maybe a driver (AegisE5.dll) and an application (AegisI5) that doesn't run.

My next choice, I guess is to take my PC upstairs and line it into my modem/base station directly, but I'd rather not move it.

Am I missing something? Why won't this work? How come I can't install my Wireless Card?

Please help, if you can. Thanks.

A:Cannot Setup Wireless Network (Belkin N1 Network Card)

I'm experiencing an almost identical issue. I had the same problems with the installation disc. After multiple install / unistall / restarts I was able to get the client installed. However, when I click to open the .exe nothing happens.

On top of that, the system is not recognizing the card. I tried all 4 PCI slots with no success.

I installed this same card (same model, different physical card) on a pc running xp sp3 very easily. Since that was so easy I bought another card for my windows 7 machine.

However, I was lazy and didn't do any research. Before I came upon this forumn I found a couple of google links saying this card was incompatible with vista (therefore incompatible with w7?).

Any else out there get this card working?

This is my first time here (and presumably some will think 'lets hope its his last!' here goes...I have 3 computers in the house and after pressure from the family I bought a Belkin Wireless Router (F5D723Ouk4). All went well with installation and the main computer (xp) connects to the internet (ntl broadband), my daughters in her bedroom did (xp & wired) but the one in the loft (Windows ME and wireless) worked for about 10 minutes then wouldn't access the internet even though it said that the signal was strong. Strangely enough MSN Messenger seemed to work. A very helpful friend? said that perhaps if I upgraded to XP Pro that would help....so I did. And guess what - the wireless thing didn't work (so I tried to reinstall the software that came with it and it won't do it - an error message comes up - and so I ran a cable from the router and when I try to connect to the internet it just keeps to want to do a dial up connection to ntl world - but I have cable broadband. While the Belkin router (F5D8232-4 }seemed to be fine, the Belkin adapter (F5D8055) only arrived yesterday. Since then, I have been trying to get the network operational between my rigs, of which the first is running W7, and the second is running XP MCE (since the W7 drive died). Both OSs are set to use a work type of network, and via hardwire, the secondary is visible on the primary, as far as files are concerned, the opposite is not true on the secondary. However, that is not the issue that I'm looking at now, it is the fact that neither is visible to the other using WIFI.

With the wireless enabled on the router, it displays a padlock at the far right side of it's display, where the wireless connection should be, and using the wireless utility on the secondary, it shows a one private and one public network that it is receiving, but not my own.

I don't think that the problem is in any kind of defect in the hardware...just in my management of it. Since the configuration seemed to work with both OSs hardwired and running W7, and for what I can tell, the same is true with the mixed boot, I haven't changed anything in the router's configuration.

Last evening, when I decided to take a break, I disabled the wireless with the Notification Trays icon, which caused it to disappear, leaving another icon that doesn't seem to do anything when clicked, and opening the wireless utility no longer shows any networks available. Therefore, before I go proceed, I need to at least... Read more

Hi Guys
Hope someone can help. I'm having a problem setting up the Belkin Network USB hub I have bought to act primarily as a Print Server. I have a Canon All-In-One printer in the office at the back of the house together with the desktop PC. These are on opposite sides of the room as there is no room for them to be together. I thought that this wouldn't be a problem as I wanted to get a wireless print server so that I could print from my laptop without turning on the PC and I could then print wirelessly from both PC and laptop. The laptop is wireless and I use a dongle on the PC. Unfortunately the wireless router is in a room at the front of the house where the only telephone point in the house is. Can't do anything about that as we are currently in a rented house while we wait to buy.

I have installed the software for the hub onto the laptop. I have connected the hub to the router. I have checked it's working by connecting a USB stick which shows up fine on the laptop. But now the hub is in the front room and the printer is in the back room and I can't see how I can connect the 2? I had assumed that as it was a "wireless" hub, I would be able to do the installation while the hub was connected to the router and then move the hub wherever I wanted. In a similar way to when I set up the laptop you had to do it wired before you could go wireless. But that's not what I'm seeing here. As it is, it looks as if I have to bring my printe... Read more

Belkin network USB hub & Windows Commands
Hello,

I've just set up the Belkin USB hub so I can connect my 500Gb media player / external HDD to the network without having to cart it back and forwards from the TV to the PC.
While the transfer rates are VERY low - (500k-2Mb per sec) it's still ideal for my needs.... with help.

I want is to automate the moving of files to the correct folder on the Media drive.

For example:

Check 'C:\temp' every 5m and transfer any folders that contain .doc files to g:\Word and any folders containing .avi to the 'g:\showreel' folder

I've tried the 'at' command in cmd but this wont recognise the G:\ drive as it's a virtual drive on the USB network hub.

Can someone point me at some software or windows commands that can help. Or (most likely) the correct syntax for referring to the virtaul USB drive on the network

Much appreciated.

One thing: having read a great many forums there are always a lot of 'why not just get a...' [insert new piece of hardware here]. Can we skip those please? I want a solution for the hardware that I've got. I know it can do everything that I want, I just don't know how.

But here comes the problem then the same time I had bought a Seagate FreeAgent Go so I open the box all happy I insert it in the Belkin Network USB Hub and bang it works yipii! And then I remove it from there I go I put it in my Mac so I can use Disk Utility and make it work on PC and Mac as well (I wanted to format it to a FAT even tough I had 4 gb transfer limit) so what happens is that nothing happens it is not detectable nothing happens so I get a FreeAgent software from their website a diagnostic tool and Disk Manager and another one I don't remember and in all of them it is not detected not even in Mac Disk Utility tool or Time Machine.

So I am all pissed of so I put it in 3 different PC poor me it doesn't work NOW I am very pissed so what I do I curse my Mac for doing this (I love my Mac) then to my surprise I take my 32 GB DataTraveler from Kingston I put it in my pc ... it doesn't work the LED doesn't light nothing happens! then I put it in my Mac still no work .. then I take my second 32 GB DataTraveler and this one works in the Mac as well in the PC then I realized those two were the one I... Could be homegroup and IPv6. Both are for homogeneous win 7 envirnments only. Create new network based on workgroup model. When up and running you can disable IPv6 and homegroup

Just thought i would post a workaround, fix, solution for this until ms does possibly.... although it may be a belkin problem to fix

Hardware affected: Belkin Network USB Hub F5l009

Situation: Installing and getting usb network hub to communicate

Problem: Constant disconnecting of drives and Control Center crash/hang on exit. Under win7 the drives/printer would connect, but then upon initial scan of a device it would close the connection, losing it completely, but still showing the device and devices attached to hub available on the network, not disabled like i have seen it show before when a problem with a device on the hub would occur.

Resolution(s): First running both the install software under vista comp and the actual connect.exe (Control Center) under vista comp after install before initial run. Secondly, under XP this device worked fine without having to manually port forward the hub thru the router. Whether a flaw with the software under XP or the utilization of Upnp under XP (which i use on xp and network).

Quick solve: Make sure to forward the ports manually, both tcp and udp. Also putting the device on DMZ will not work... tried and tested all i could think of

I have the belkin wireless network usb hub and when I connect any device, I can see the device in the control center software and when I click "connect" in the software it, the device also appears in my computer, but when I start using it after a minute the drive is not responding.

For example if I connect a USB drive/External Hard disk and try to access a song, the song starts playing after a minute, the song stops and the player does not respond. My computer also stops responding. The belkin control center shows the device still connected.

But if I connect a canon camera, the device is working very good.

Is there a limitation based on the amount of data through the device?

I have got myself a belkin router and connected it to my main desktop pc. I bascially want to make a wireless connection between my pc and laptop. I got given a belkin network card too which if I put into my usb drive allows me to connect to the net. I can put the card into both my laptop or desktop and can connect to the net except I cant seem to do it when I only have it in one.

I am looking over the manual for the router and in the part configure your router it says
- In order for your computer to properly communicate with the router, your computer's network ''TCP/IP/Ethernet'' setting needs to be Obtain an Ip adress automatically using DHCP''- How to do I set it and where??

Then it goes onto say you can access the web based management interface of the router using internet browser on a computer physicsally connected to the route. Tpe 192.168.2.1 into your adress bar and click enter. I did it in aol and it takes me to some search site.

Can I actually connect the desktop and laptop without the belkin card and just via the router and also how the hell do i do it lol?

A:Belkin wireless network problem

ok....
1. connect the router to your pc via cable first.
2. Make sure the tcp/ip settings in the network connection you use is setup to 'obtain automatically' for ip address and dns.
2. In a browser window, type in the ip address of the router home page; 192.168.2.1. It should take you to the Belkin Router config page.
3. Setup the router for DHCP. Some Belkin's take abut 35 secs to accept and reset the router after each change (for some strange reason!)
4. Setup up wireless networking, MAKE SURE you enable the security on it.

I got given a belkin network card too which if I put into my usb drive allows me to connect to the net. I can put the card into both my laptop or desktop and can connect to the net except I cant seem to do it when I only have it in one.Click to expand...

I got a little confused here. Is the wireless card you have a usb plugin? Which can obviously fit into a usb port on either pc or laptop?
Well, with only one wireless card, you can obviously only have one wirelessly connecting to the network/internet can't you?
The router will most likely have 4 RJ45 ports in the back, so you can plug the pc and laptop into them with cat5e straightthrough cables.
From then its just a matter of sharing resources on the pc and laptop between each other.

Hope this helps.

The computer with the card was not used for about three month's. When I restarted the system it will not connect to my other computer. The computer that is connected to the router connects to the other computer just find. Both still connect to the Internet. I uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers and software. I did a hard reset on the router and set it up.
I ran the diagnostics on the card and it shows no errors. I updated my sis LAN drivers. As far as I know the F5D7001 drivers are up to date. The problem is still there. Nothing I have done so far has made any difference. I run XP Home on both computers. Does anybody have any idea what the problem could be?

Hey guys and gals,

I just recently got my computer working after two years in the graveyard :0 but it so happens that my Belkin Wireless G Network Adapter is not working. We have a family computer, which is also Win 7 Home prem 64bit and it works perfectly fine. Except the one i am using (Identical, both operating system and adapter) is not. Any problems with this model I should know about? I know it said that the one I am using is meant for xp - Vista 32 but then how is the family computer able to run it? I know pretty much nothing about internet cards and network adapters, so I might just go buy another high-speed one from Walmart, but would not like to spend $30 dollars on a small piece of plastic.

I have gone to Belkin and talked to the tech support, seems like they have a free download link but when the lady answered the phone, she told me to buy 30 days of tech support for 40 bucks???? What type of service is that? And when i told her about the website she was like "I cannot tell you what to download" and I'm said "ITS ON YOUR SITE!!!" She ended up hanging up.

I tried downloading all of them through my friends Network Adapter (not mine) but none of the patches work and the USB ports dont recongize it as plugged in.

Thanks for reading.

I hope you can help!

hey, I've got a Belkin N1 wireless router that has some problems. Every couple of minutes the vista task manager shows it use spike to 100%. This happens whether I'm it should have much activity or not. And even with intense transfers, it rarely goes over 50%.

The problem could be a few places obviously. But my laptop's wireless has been pretty solid when connected to other networks. I've got a thinkpad T61 with Vista and an Intel AGN wireless card.

Some days, I drop my Belkin connection more often than others. I've tried various security modes without erratic success. I currently have got WPA2 PSK TKIP. This seemed to work best. Ethernet works perfect.

Another quirk: If I change the SSID, I can't connect at all. Manually or automatically. And I've confirmed it's set to broadcast the ssid.

Any suggestions? Is it a lemon? A bad model?

thanks...

Hi everyone,

we're running a network with three laptops and one Mac and a server. They are all connected via a Belkin 54g router. The server is a LaCie ethernet Disk 80 GB.
Almost everything is working perfectly, but for one thing: no matter what computer we're on, suddenly the server can't be reached. He pings back, so he's awake and all, but we no longer can get any information from it.
Does anyone have any idea what causes this problem?
Thanks in advance!

Virgin ar upgrading out internet to 60mb yay! for free yay!

However at the moment we are using the virgin router to get the internet into the house and then using a Belkin play for the wireless netwrok to get internet. the reason for this is that the Belkin router has a USB socket on it that we have a hard drive plugged into it with all our music on it so that we cna access our music from all the computers around the house.

This has worked fine fo rus for a while now.

However with Virgin upgrading the internet they are provinding some new superhub (theri words) wireless router for free and it makes sense to use it as I suspect it will be faster and able to cope with the 60mb internet speed. We would however like to still access out hard drive from all around the house.

So is it possible to get out internet from the virgin wireless router and access the hard drive through our Belkin router? So we need to access two wireless routers at the same time. Is this easy or horrible complicated? i will need to set up 5 computers to do this - 1 is running windows 7 basic,1 windows 7home premium, 1 windows 7professional, 2 running vista.

Connecting two (or more) SOHO broadband routers together
From a John Will Post

Note: The "primary" router can be an actual router, a software gateway like Microsoft Internet Connection Sharing, or a server connection that has the capability to supply more than one IP address using DHCP server capability. No changes are made to the primary "router" configuration.

Configure the IP address of the secondary router(s) to be in the same subnet as the primary router, but out of the range of the DHCP server in the primary router. For instance DHCP server addresses 192.168.0.2 through 192.168.0.100, I'd assign the secondary router 192.168.0.254 as it's IP address, 192.168.0.253 for another router, etc.

Note: Do this first, as you will have to reboot the computer to connect to the router again for the remaining changes.

Disable the DHCP server in the secondary router.

Setup the wireless section just the way you would if it was the primary router, channels, encryption, etc.

Connect from the primary router's LAN port to one of the LAN ports on the secondary router. If there is no upli... Read more

Hello,
I bought a Belkin wireless 802.11n router and two Belkin usb adapters.
On an unsecured environment everything runs properly on all my machines.
Once I try to secure the network (WEP or WPA), I can access the network from a laptop running Windows Seven with integrated wifi adapter, from an old laptop running XP SP3 with the Belkin USB adapter,

BUT NOT from a Desktop ACER T130 and NOT from an Acer T120.

Since the network works properly with two machines and with the Belkin USB adapter, I suppose that the problem lies on the ACER T120 - T130 machines which were configured at the same period.

I contacted the Belkin helpdesk and after several hours of checking the network configuration, no solution was found. When working with fix IP addresses, My computer indicates a connexion to the router but without internet, and the router doesn't see the computer. When working with automatic IP addresses no connexion is possible. When I disable the WEP or WPA encryption, all machines can connect properly.

Does anyone have an idea of where the problem coul reside?

my network adapter has worked ever since i got it a year ago, but today i decided to get all the dust and build up out from the inside, so i unplugged everything and did so, and now when i plugged everything back in i get the found new hardware for my network card so i put in the cd and it said it was not digitally signed by microsoft, i clicked install anyway and it wont find the files on the disc to complete the install. I restored the computer to a previous day and nothin changed, and my wireless network i was using was erased somehow. I also downloaded the driver system file it was asking for on the cd "BLKWGU.sys" but now it doesnt even recognize that its a network adapter so it doesnt ask for that file anymore, it asks for the .inf file but when i point it to the correct location it says the information needed to complete setup is not in there. if anyone can help please do, it would be greatly appreciated!

Hi guys!

sorry if this has been posted before.

I recently purchased a Belkin wireless network adapter for my HP windows 7 computer, and the checkout woman said it would work.

Unfortunately, it does not work. at first, it was just dodgy, connecting with only a small connection. It started getting better, but it would always cut out after a while.

A friend of mine tried to fix it, using lots of methods including the xlink kai method and others including downloading the drivers and another one which I can't remember. None have worked.

Has anyone got a really easy, fool-proof, easy understandable way to make this work please?

Any help is greatly appreciated!

thanks

Hi All,

I am new and this is my first post so please be patient with me.

I have just bought myself a new DELL XPS 420 (Vista SP1) and decided to try and network this with my old machine DELL DIMENSION C521 (XP). I bought a BELKIN 5-Port 10/100 Network Switch (Wired) that the guy in the shop said is all I would need.

My problem is if i plug either one of my PC's into the switch on there own I can access the Internet OK. If I then plug my second PC into the Switch it will not log into Internet say words to the effect 'Limited on no connectivity'.

If I then disconnect the first PC I have to Power off/on the switch and broadband modem to be able to get Internet access on the second machine.

I also want to be able to share files, printers etc between the 2 machines but i've run the network setup wizards on both machine numerous times making sure each machine has unique name and the workgroup name is same on both machines but I get nowhere.

Sales people in the shop are no help all they say is that it should work no problem.

Please help I've been at this now every night for 5 days and just about ready to throw both machine out of the window.

Thanks Grant

My laptop recently crashed last week and i had to reinstall xp pro on my ibm t30. All seems fine now, including the wired internet but i cant get my Belkin network card to work again. I didnt have the original driver disc for this card, so i tried all 7 possible drivers for this card. one problem is that the card doesnt show the version, hence having to try all 7 possible driver. Versions 5 onwards actually load up on XP, the others stalled. Anyway, on the Belkin Network Utility it wasnt showing any networks, i had rebooted the sitecom router and ntl cable modem earlier, and the main problem is that i couldnt enter a network so i'm stuck ! The laptop recognises the card when it is connected, but the lights on the card dont show anymore, they come on very dimly when the card is first connected but that is all. Do you think the card is damaged ? Can anyone help?

On a seemingly endless XP Vista home networking file sharing mission. Had a Dell E510 desktop connected to the internet by a cat5e cell tower 900 mhz antenna modem. that all worked well. Bought a new Lenovo T61 laptop and Belkin N1 router. Setup the Dell XP direct wire to the Belkin and the Vista Laptop wireless to the Belkin. Both connect good to the internet. Downloaded the XP patch to allow the XP to show up on the Vista network map. That worked. Tried just about everything imaginable to allow file sharing from dozens of sources from microsoft to sites like this with no success. Hired a network guy who spent 4 hours pinging and checking and repinging and finally accepted defeat and luckily only charged me $55 instead of $55/hour. Tried sharing both c drives as in the post on this site with no success http://forums.techguy.org/networking...nter-file.html . tried shutting down the explorer browser on the xp to prevent
'browser conflicts". tried shutting down all firewalls (windows on each and mcafee on the Dell, Lenovo has bitdefender antivirus only). Interestingly, a few times the Dell computer has shown up on Network locations but it doesn't allow an access. The Lenovo has never shown up on the Dell or any shared files either. The network technician said lots of people were having the same issues and many downgrading to XP. I have literally invested >50 hours into this and am wondering what to look at next. I love the idea of sharing and modifying files ... Read more

Just purchased a new computer from best buy today with windows 7 (obviously), along with that I also purchased a belkin branded wireless network adaptor. I follow the setup directions all the way through until it tells me to restart the computer for the software to work. When it boots back up, it recognizes the network adaptor but the driver for the adaptor is non-existent like it never installed in the first place, thus the adaptor not being able to work and connect to the internet. I've also tried installing the driver with windows firewall turned off, but still no luck.

Here's the model number for the adaptor: F6D4050 v2

As a side note, this is my first computer that I've bought brand new....Everything else I always bought used, so I'm sorta on a rough start lol. Any help would be much appreciated.

Meanwhile no other computer can access until my wireless is disabled again!
Can anyone suggest a solution to the failed connection via wireless as the cabled connection
is very inconvenient!
Thanks

PS three other laptops can connect via wireless without any difficulty unless mine is trying to acquire an address
PPS This is the first time anywhere in the world that I have encountered this problem with a wireless connection

Hi, I'm having a problem, I have just bought a belkin 54g wireless notebook network card(f5d7010), and a belkin 54g wireless desktop network card(f5d7000uk). I have installed them exactly as stated and am trying to set up an ad hoc network(desktop to laptop only). They installed fine but when i went to network connections it stated that they were unable to connect, and i havent been able to work this out. On the network connection box the logos for the cards have a big red X accross them, meaning i cant connect. I am a total newbie to wireless networking, somebody PLEASE help!!!! I am running windows XP Pro on both machines, both are recent machines, therefore good spec. I just cant figure this out. Thanx for ANY help

Check to make sure that you are allowed to access unsecure networks. Do this by doubling clicking the little computer icon with an x, hit "allow me to connect to unsecure networks (or something like that)" and hit ok. If you don't get that option, the computers are not seeing each other at all.

DSL Provider: Verizon
DSL Manufacturer: Westell
Computer hooked to Modem: Windows Vista (2007)
---------------------------------------------------------
Wireless Adaptor: Belkin G Wireless USB Adapator
Computer that Need Internet: Windows XP (2000)
Ok so my C Drive on my XP totally crashed on Tuesday, so i reinstalled Windows. I looked up and reinstalled my Belkin adaptor but I cannot get my internet to work (It shows im reaching the Modem, but no Internet)
I think its a problem with my IP Adress becuase i kept getting an error like (TCP/IP not enabled) when i tried repairing the connection.

So, please IN DETAIL, explain to me from the very begining how EXACTLY to set up everything so that my Internet will work on my Windows XP computer.

Thank you in advance.

A:Setting up a Wirleless Network Using Belkin USB Adaptor

What is Windows XP (2000)?

Can you connect using a wired connection? I'd get that working before the wireless connection.

What is the exact model of that Westell modem? Why are you trying to use ICS, since that "modem" is probably a modem/router? If not, I'd spring for a $20-30 wireless router rather than ICS.

Let's see this.

Hold the Windows key and press R, then type devmgmt.msc

Please respond to all the following steps.
Under Network adapters, please tell me all the devices listed.
Are there any devices under Network adapters that have a red x displayed?
Also, are there any devices anywhere in the Device Manager display with yellow ? or ! displayed?

I'd like to see this as well.

Hold the Windows key and press R, then type CMD to open a command prompt:

In the command prompt window that opens, type type the following command:

Note that there is a space before the /ALL, but there is NOT a space after the / in the following command.

IPCONFIG /ALL

Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter.
Paste the results in a message here.

If you are on a machine with no network connection, use a floppy, USB disk, or a CD-RW disk to transfer a text file with the information to allow pasting it here.

Okay so this is really screwed up. I had my Belgin 54g Wireless USB Adapter plugged into my USB port and everything was working, and then I left my computer on and went to sleep. Now, sometime when I was sleeping (***??) my computer decided it no longer wanted to recognize the USB adapter, and tell me it's not plugged in.

Of course I tried restarting, plugging it out and back in, and when I tried reinstalling the hardware, it said "The device is installed, but may not be working properly. The device cannot start. (10)"

So I don't know what to do right now... Please help! :D I can't stay on my sister's computer forever.
