Blue Screen IO Error. Verification Error In Wmiacpi.sys (WMD Driver Error 20e)

Q: Blue Screen IO Error. Verification Error In Wmiacpi.sys (WMD Driver Error 20e)

Ive just bought some new memory (TWIN2X4096-8500C5C G), the new memory doesnt seem to work unless I only add one stick, and even with that I get blue screen errors.

So from reading a few pages on teh internet I put my old memory back in, and ran windows driver verifier. Upon restarting I got and keep getting teh following BSOD.

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

If the system ran fine...before you added RAM...then you need to see if the new RAM (by itself)...works.The new RAM may not be compatible with your old RAM, in which case the system will run fine with one or the other...but not both. The Driver Verifier tool is tricky to use, I would disregard that effort...for the moment.Remove your old RAM...put the new RAM in...see if the system works properly.FWIW: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/153175/blue-screen-io-error-verification-error-in-wmiacpisys-wmd-driver-error-20e/Louis

Are you sure of the spelling of the 2nd file name? If so, Google doesn't give any results for it - which is suspicious. The first file name ( wmiacpi.sys ) is a Windows file that's used to help manage the ACPI settings in your system. http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/filedb/wmiacpi.sys-7763.htmlA BSOD error will usually point to the file that the error occured in, but this may not be the source of the error. Here's a link on how to find more info about the BSOD message: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/top...tml#entry409491Once you locate the .dmp files for the event, you can use this link to generate an analysis of the dump for us to have a look at ( http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=35246 )

My first post ...

Laptop: Dell 6400/E1505 XP SP3

Lately I have had new problems with my laptop. The first problem was that on normal boot-up that I could not start up appications. I had not installed any new software although I had a lot of freeware and update everything as often as I can. I can trace my problems back to a 'hard shutdown' (Using 'off' under 'shutdown' then suddenly becoming impatient for it to complete the process and pressing the Power button upon seeing my g/f come out of the jetway at the airport). Multiple reboots (from 1 to 5) will eventually reach a stage which I can open any & all applications.

The problem I am posting for help - the return of the dread BSOD.

I have had at least 3 BSODs starting approximately two weeks after the above incident. I cannot relate to what I was doing although once I was going back & forth on a browser page, and another was looking at my computer in the morning after leaving it on overnight and finding a BSOD.

All BSODs have the same Error message. Bug Check 0xC5: DRIVER_CORRUPTED_EXPOOL

Several internet searches & researches has not come up with a consistent cause ('check for new software installations' is the most frequent first solution), and worse there is no consistent solution. One cause implied was installation of SP3--mine was installed at least 6 months ago.

I used verifier.exe to see about signed drivers and now I can't finish a normal boot-up. This time I ha... Read more

Okay, here's the whole situation, I hope you can understand.

A few weeks ago, I had gotten an error, or blue screen of death with a stop error saying unmountable boot volume. Went to get that fixed from a rent to own place where I am renting to own a new computer. Turns out okay with a reinstallation, however, I think the techie forgot to put back in the programs of the drivers and such. After that, I had the error again. I did it myself this time after given a boot disk. Worked out fine again.

Now here's where it gets interesting. I talked with an HP technician on how to get my video card back on, and followed instructions of downloading all the links on their support site and install them all in the sub catergory "Other Drivers". I did that and I get the error. I couldn't exactly remember the codec for it or whatever it is, the last two was 7B. So for now, I'm having it be repaired through the boot disk. So what should I do? Is what I'm doing right now, which is repairing through the boot disk, going to correct the problem, even after installing the drivers?

Edit: The error I get is Stop: 0x0000007B (0xF79A3528, 0xC0000034, 0x00000000, 0x00000000)

A:Driver installation error, getting a blue screen error, what to do?!

Yes try repairing your system using your boot disk, try first the chkdsk then if that doesnt work try the re-installation option this will not format your system just repair and re-install you system.

What should I be doing to fix this?

Hi, the problem im having is that windows makes a blue screen at random times whenever i load an application usually like a game or sound and then reboots itself. On reboot it says the error should be reported and that my system has recovered from a serious problem. I then report it and it directs me to a windows webpage that says its driver related. Hello All - I've been experiencing problems for the past couple of months, a brief history is ... a "friend" installed Windows XP Office over my original ME. I didn't know it was an illegal installation until my computer crashed about 6 months later. I bought an OEM version of Win XP Home, switched ISPs from Earthlink to Bellsouth & went from dial-up to DSL. Since I installed a new OS & switched to DSL at the same time no one can quite figure out whether it's a Windows issue or an internet issue. After being online for anywhere from 20 minutes to 3 hours my computer stops connecting to my Westell modem, every page is a 404 Page Not Found message, my e-mail won't connect to server, etc. so I'm getting thrown offline. Eve the modem interface page that's supposed come up for me to reconnect offline won't come up. Every time I shut down after getting disconnected I get the blue screen with this message

A:HELP! Blue Screen of Death Driver Error Message

The error message is to do with USB. Is your modem connected to your computer through USB? Unfornately this isn't the best conenction type, if you can you should switch to an Ethernet based modem as they are more reliable.

I would also advise in updating your motherboard chipset drivers, which includes USB. To do this you will need to determine what motherboard you have or what chipset you have. Is this a brand name computer? If it isn't download Everest and see what your motherboard is.

Everest: http://www.lavalys.com/products/download.php?pid=1&lang=en&pageid=3

Also 128MB of RAM is not enough for XP, you want at least 256MB or more.

Hi to all,

Around 5 days ago, some sort of error, cropped up while installation of Kaspersky Anti Virus on my laptop, and after that everytime, I turned the system on, I faced the blue screen error.

Then, i formatted my laptop and reinstalled Windows XP. It was running fine for two days. Suddenly, it started giving error "Logonui.exe application error" at startup displaying something similar to "The instruction at '0x0037149c' referenced memory" something.. It had to buttons - Cancel (for debugging) and Ok.. I pressed cancel/ok/close button. It always cropped up. Until after a series of pressing buttons, my log on screen came. After logging in, all my icons and taskbar gone. So, i opened Windows Task Manager and run "explorer.exe". After everything came up, Some Data Execution Prevention error cropped up. Whenever i tried clicking "Close Message", it always came up again with a separate window for the "Send Error Report to Microsoft" dialog box.

Whenever I connected to internet, the link under my Internet started blinking very fast. I even left it without any internet application open, but it still went on. I saw the properties window of my connection. It went on and on. And in return, everything went slow. Internet surfing and downloading. And one major problem occurred that, whenever I leave my internet open for a short while, it shows the blue screen of error and restarts.

At first sight this could be the result of a windows update messing with a driver, or possibly a recent driver update. Have you tried going back on a recent driver update or possible a system restore to see if this cures it? The trouble with intermittent BSDs like this is that it can take an age to check!

My kaspersky was about to expire and I couldn't renew it so I let it slide. A few days after it expired, a message window from kaspersky would pop up at start up. It said there was some errors that needed to be reported to Kaspersky, but it didn't respond, neither did Kaspersky. I tried everything to shut it down, but I couldn't terminate the avp.exe process from task manager so I couldn't think of any way to close the damn windows blocking my screen. So as kaspersky wasn't responding, it sure wouldn't be doing anything to protect my computer, so I uninstalled it till I could find a way to a install CD.

A couple days after I uninstalled it, Windows security popped up saying there were a couple of vyrus (which looked pretty serious and not some random trojans) on my computer and that there was no antivyrus protecting me blablabla. So I decided I'd google something to scan my computer, so I downloaded a Kaspersky trial. But as I was about to start the scan, my computer stopped responding - I couldn't click anywhere as everything was unresponsive. So I manually shut down the computer.

After that, my computer keeps rebooting itself after a Blue Screen error pops up... It asks me if I want to start on Safe Mode, so that's the only reason I can start this thread - I'm on safe mode. I also tried restoring the system back to a date before Kaspersky expired, but it didn't work.

Summing up, I'm guessing this is indeed being caused by a vyrus? If so, how can I fix it? And if it... Read more

Hello everyone.

I am an entry level intern IT/IA guy and am in need of help.

A computer in my work place is having issues and is getting the Blue Screen Error.

My boss wrote down the error codes as:

STOP: 0x000000F4 (0x00000003, 0x89A03020, 0x89A03194, 0x805D22DA)

0xF4 is a CRITICAL_OBJECT_TERMINATION
0x03 is an INVALID_AFFINITY_SET

I tried to look up what the last three are, but turned up empty.

If anyone will please help me out, that would be awesome!

Side Note 1:
The Dell support diagnostic tools will not download for some reason. Keeps coming up with an error of "can not access the internet", or something close to that, even though there is internet access and it can access the internet.

Side Note 2: I believe that the Service Pack is 2, it maybe 3.

Side Note 3: The laptop is a Dell Latitude E5400

I'm having a problem with my sister in law's computer. Originally, she had that annoying XP 2008 virus/spyware, which I think I managed to get rid of with Malwarebytes' Anti Malware and System Mechanic 7. Now I have a new problem. After receiving a recent download from microsoft, upon restarting, I get the blue screen of death with this message;

STOP: C000021a (Fatal System Error) The Windows Logon Process system process terminated unexpectedly with a status of 0xc0000005 (0x00000000 0x00000000)

I can't get anywhere into Windows, I've done F2, F8, F12, everything I could think of without risking more damage since I'm not trained for this. I've booted from the system mechanic CD with the Hard Drive recovery, and while it said it found and fixed a problem, it didn't fix this one. I have no windows CD. The computer is a Dell, and it's running Windows XP service pack 2 with Explorer 6. Heeeeeelp! Other than the F keys, I can't get anywhere with this computer.

Hi,
im new to this forum, would like to say hi to all first and thanks in advance for the help.

so i have a NEC Versa notebook, with Intel Centrino 1.8GHz, 3gb ram, 150GB Sata hard drive with windows 7 professional x32 installed. The system came originally installed with Windows XP however i performed a fresh installation to windows 7 using Vista drivers. all devices where installed and none are without drivers or disabled. The system was installed with Windows 7 for a month so i can exclude it is a case of too much software installed, i take good care of what software I install and try to keep it with less unncessessary software as much as possible.
i am experienceing numerious crashes every day on my notebook. i checked the ram by removing 1 module at a time and neither the ram seems falty. futher to that i also used memtest several times to resolve the issue.

I am incluned to think that the problem is driven by some drivers, but at this stage i did not manage to find the culprid. i attached the health check together with the bsod files as per instructions. any help with be highely appreciated.

thanks and hope to have a reply.

Hi there,

This is my first post in the forum. It is nice to meet you all

I have crashed twice in last two days with the BSOD. My computer is a three week old Dell Dimension 9150 Pentium D dual core processor with 1 gig ram.

The two BSOD messages were different. The first started RQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL with the message if this is the first time restart the computer, + a few suggestions from disabling bios memory options like caching or shadowing (that I didn't know how to do). The technical information was:-**STOP:0X0000000A (0x00650065, 0x0000001C, 0x00000000, 0x8050177F
Beginning dump of physical memory, physical memory dump complete.

Microsoft online crash analysis came back with - Error caused by a device driver, but there was no indication of which. No device driver showed in the BSOD. I looked in the system hardware and there were no exclamation marks or no other equipment etc.

The next day the same thing happened again, only this time there was an indication where the device driver problem was:-

The message this time was - **STOP: 0x0000008E (0xC0000005, 0xBF80D2F1, 0xF7721778, 0x00000000

** Win32k.sys - Address BF80D2F1 base at BF800000, Datestamp 43446a58

I had a looked at the system event log and application log but nothing out of the ordinary was logged at the exact time of the crash. There were errors there mostly to do with Fax machine which I never have installed

I did a search for Win32k.sys (inc hidden files and folders) and ca... Read more

Blue screen error caused by a device or driver

You received this message because a hardware device, its driver, or related software has caused a blue screen error. This type of error means the computer has shut down abruptly to protect itself from potential data corruption or loss. In this case, we were unable to detect the specific device or driver that caused the problem.
Okay iam running windows xp....ive been having problems with my pc forever and i can never seem to work out if its bad ram or a memory issue. Anytime my pc is running for a long period of time it seems to hang and give me the blue screen, if i try to run a media program or burn a cd or anything along those lines it hangs also....What could this problem be? do i need to let someone look into my system or can it be resolved at all.

Ive had every error msg i believe...it seems to always tell me its a device error when it hangs or when i reboot it gives me that msg and then reports the problem..

Any help would be gratful...by the way ive run scans and all sorts, theirs no virus or anything, i run a and anti virus program by AVG.

cheers.

I keep getting a blue screen error "Driver IRQL not less or equal (rtwlane.sys). The system is set to auto-update drivers, and tells me that all drivers are up to date. Despite that, when I go to the HP site's software/drivers download page and it ID's my system, it offers me a whole list of drivers. The Realtek driver rtwlane.sys is NOT on that list. The driver currently on my system is Realtek PCIE NDIS Driver 38846, version 2023.19.831.2015, modified 10/14/2015. I searched the Realtek site for a newer version of this file, and Realtek told me that NO version of that file was found. Under Realtek's PCIE offerings, there is nothing that says NDIS, and the only Win 10 file is a Win 10 Auto Install program. Every  mention of this problem -- and there are so many, on multiple boards -- indicates that the way to fix this is "simply" to go to Realtek and download the newer version of the driver. If only I could find it. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Hey guys,

Long story short, I bought my mother a new HD for her Laptop but realized I did not have a bootable Winx or Win7 disk (They are burned but are not Bootable). So I downloaded Magic ISO and everything seemed Ok, my Vypre antivirus came up and asked if I wanted to do it anyways, and like an idiot I said allow. My comp has been working TIP TOP so this just came out of absolutely nowhere.

I do have a video of my starting up my computer to show you it hasn't finished uploading to youtube yet but I will post it in comments.

I can boot into my computer for about 20 seconds before it gives me the blue screen with sad face, a 1800 number and the error message

**JUST SO EVERYONE KNOWS, I DO NOT NEED ANYTHING ON MY PREVIOUS PARTITION SO A FACTORY RESET IS FINE WITH ME, I NEED NO FILES ON THE COMPUTER THEY ARE BACKED UP ON EXTERNALS**

I do not have boot able windows X DVD
I can not be on my desktop for more than 20 sec before I have to restart or just stare at the blue screen.
Is there a way to rollback my computer to a prior date via BIOS or pre-boot somewhere?
Is there a factory reset built into windows 10 where I could use the BIOS to do it?
No matter what I cannot boot into my computer for long so fixing the problem via BIOS is the only way.

PLEASE HELP I've never come across this yet in my life.

Hi. I'm working on a friend's computer. The computer has been coming up with the blue screen stop error. It will rarely load fully into windows, safemode or not, but it always restarts within a few minutes of loading the desktop. I think it loads into windows about each 15x I restart the computer, approximately.
It has Windows XP SP2 French Edition, so I've been unable to fully decipher the error messages, although the error codes are all the same. There have been multiple error codes:

IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
STOP: 0x000000D1 (0x0000000D, 0x00000007, 0x00000001, 0x825AB5C?)

STOP: 0x0000008E (0xC0000005, 0x805EF530, 0xBACC2e7C, 0x00000000)

STOP: 0x0000000A .....

PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA

0x00000050 (0xBA063F78. 0x00000000, 0x8056E9EC, 0x00000000)

There have been no new installations of hardware or programs.

I can not get it to boot onto the windows disc.

Help!?

A:XP - Blue Screen Error - multiple error codes

are you trying to use the original XP disc that matches the load of XP currently on the machine.....? have you gone into the Bios to adjust the boot sequence to tell it to boot from CD rom first and force it to boot from the CD? you say it will rarely boot into Windows XP .,,so sometimes it eventually will boot stabally into the Desktop?

Hi there,
I have been having several errors- one being a Blue Screen Error (which has been occuring for probably over a year now, every so often) and another one occuring only on my other account on this computer (which says something along the lines of "Windows has encountered a critical problem and will restart automatically in one minute.") right after logging in (after some programs have loaded). I never really bothered with resolving the Blue Screen Error because it wasn't that serious to me- though it was very annoying, but this new critical error when I log into my other account is REALLY frustrating to deal with. I am not new to computers and have quite a bit of knowledge about them, so don't worry about holding back any details or technical explanations, I'll probably understand most of it. Anyways, here is the problem report for the Blue Screen Error:

Hi Everyone, I'll begin by giving a brief background on whats going on. I have a Dell Inspiron 660s - Its a few years old. My hard drive was failing so I had to replace it. I replaced the hard drive and re-installed the original OS media (Windows 8). After I was finally up and running I downloaded some drivers from dell and did some windows updates. The goal was to try and get my PC back to or at least close to what I had before the hard drive failed. I had windows 10 before the hard drive failure. In order to get windows 10 back I had to download Windows 8.1. Everything seemed to go smoothly until I had to restart and allow the download to finish. I get upto 82% and it stops there for a long time and then eventually goes to a blue screen error stating the problem is a Bad_Pool_Caller. After the bluescreen dissappears it restores back to Windows 8. Another message appears when I get to the desktop stating Windows 8.1 installation unsuccessful error code 0xC1900101 - 0X30018. I would appreciate your help as I am stumped by what the issue is. Thanks.

A:indows 8.1 installation error - Blue Screen Error

I would recommend using the windows media creation tool to create a bootable windows 10 installation disk and upgrade with that. There are so many issues with upgrading to 10, iv had a few machines coming with failed upgrades but most of the time if I use a DVD it will work without fault.

https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/software-download/windows10

Some things to take into consideration before upgrading

1) Ensure you have all Windows updates installed for your current OS
2) Disconnect any devices such as USB hard drives etc

Try this approach if it doesn't help please come back with results and we'll try to help

Hello, for the past few years my computer (Windows 7 Premium) crashes randomly.  The blue screen appears.  When I restart it, everything seems fine, but then it crashes again.  The data dump refers to a faulty device driver.  I opened Device Manager and all of the drivers seem fine.  I am not sure what to do and do not want to start trying to clean this up on my own.

Any help to resolve this issue is greatly appreciated.

First off, this all started when I tried to install new ram into my computer. It worked for a day, and when i tried to restart my computer, I got the driver irql blue screen error. I swapped my old ram back in, and still same thing. I proceed to run diagnositic and repair tools, it it runs the chkdsk and begins deleting orphan files etc. I restart after its done and still same thing.

I thought my hard drive was dying, so I moved it to another computer and reinstalled windows 7. When I move it back, I get blue screen again and it says chkdsk F:.

Now I have two hard drive which both have windows 7 installed. One blue screens with chkdsk error during the windows logo. The 2nd one goes all the way to the mouse, but the screen blacks out and nothing happens.
When I try to boot up from my window 7 disk so I can reinstall it, it only gets up to the mouse and nothing else pops up.

Anyone have any idea what is going on? Its not my hard drive since I can put it in another computer and it starts up fine. My old ram should still work. I pulled the battery from my mobo and set to fail safe bio settings.

any help would be much appreciated

First, rest your hardware/software connections with the BIOS:
Shut down and turn off the computer.

Unplug the computer from the wall or surge protector (then remove the battery if it is a laptop).

"Remove the computer from any port replicator or docking station, disconnect cables to printers or devices such as external monitors, USB memory sticks or SD cards, headset or external speakers, mouse or auxiliary keyboard, turn off WIFI and Bluetooth wireless devices." ( Use Hard Reset to Resolve Hardware and Software Issues HP Pavilion dv5000 Notebook PC series - HP Customer Care (United States - English)).

Hold down the power button for 30 seconds. This closes the circuit and ensures all power from components is drained to clear the software connections between the BIOS and hardware and clear any corruption in the temporary memory.

(If it is a laptop, plug the battery back into the laptop and then) Plug the computer back into the wall. Do not reconnect any unnecessary peripherals; monitor, keyboard, and mouse should suffice and be the only peripherals reconnected.

Turn it on to reinitialize the software connections between the BIOS and hardware.

See if that allows you to boot the Windows installation media.

If not, proceed through the steps to fix Windows 7 / Vista is unable to boot.

My computer was infected with 2 viruses in 2 days. I was able to delete them (I think) using Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware but now my system goes to the Blue Screen almost every time it's on, after a few hours. The latest error stated: "A driver has corrupted the memory management system PTES" and "Stop 0X000000DB" I had also received a different Stop (0X0000007B).
I don't know how to get rid of whatever is affecting/infecting my system. We use Windows XP. Also, when I use MSN's Bing to search, and click on a link, I am being redirected to a weird site that begins with Clckr.

Can anyone help shed some light on this issue? I ran Malwarebytes again a few minutes ago, but later got the blue screen. Thank you!

Pleae update and rerun Malwarebytes and post the log. We will go from there.

Hi guys,
So I downloaded something that I believe had a virus in it, and it caused me to begin getting the Blue screen of death with the above error code and driver file.

So I factory reset, but I don't think it wiped all the files, because I am still getting the screen.

I uninstalled the driver associated with the file (Intel Mobile Express Chip set SATA RAID Controller) and that didn't fix it.

I've also tried to run the diagnostic in the BIOS menu and that hasn't fixed it (and it often blue screens while its running).

I want to factory reset it for real, which I suspect it didn't do because I was running it through dell datasafe. I was running the reset that way because, due to another (since fixed) issue, I factory reset my computer about a month ago. Since then it hasn't made any restore points (not sure how that happened) and it was telling me there was nothing to restore from.

I'm on a dell xsp 14 ultrabook running 64 bit windows 7, so I don't have a disk drive, and I don't have an external one, either. I do have a pretty large external hard drive, so if I needed to run something off of that I could.

The blue screen is happening more and more frequenrly and I'm worried it will stop working all together soon.

If anyone can help me, it'd be much appreciated. Thanks.

PS I will upload my minidump info shortly.
