My mew flex 5 is dead and how do I make use of my warranty?

Q: My mew flex 5 is dead and how do I make use of my warranty?

Hello!I received my laptop as requested in excellent shape. Two days ago, I smelt burning plastic coming out of the machine and it no longer comes on. I registered for my warranty and have more than 200 days left.Thing is, I'm in school out of the US and want it fixed and looked at. What do I do?Please help. Thanks so much!PS: Nothing ever happened to the laptop. It never fell, over heated or made any weird noise. It just stopped working after the smell came out.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello All, My Flex 4-1580 just got back from the Lenovo Repair Center, where they fixed the backlight and the microphone. Thrilled, I opened it up and proceeded to play games on it for a few hours, then closed the laptop. When I come back and open it up, the top of the screen is cracked and the touch is permanantly clicking at the top of the page. Upon further investigation, I noticed that the screen case was not properly reinstalled, as there are gaps that did not exist before I sent the laptop to Lenovo. I want to know if this repair is covered by my original Lenovo Manufacturer's Warranty, as I have a third-party warranty that explicitly covers ADH repairs. I would assume that Lenovo would cover it, as the damage here was caused by their oversight, but I wanted to make sure. I'm going to call their customer service number when it opens tomorrow. Reply if you'd like an update with how it goes!

I want to know the warrant policy regarding the following issues:
I have a Lenovo Flex 2-14 laptop.
Will my warranty be void, if:
1. I upgrade my RAM to 12GB by making use of the two provided slots. 4 Gb Ram the implicit one and adding another 8 Gb Ram.
2. If I dual boot my laptop with Ubuntu Os.
Kindly let me know the warranty status in both the cases.

A:Flex 2-14 - Warranty: Replacement policy

Hi wavare_ajinkya ,
Welcome to the Community Forums.
As a general rule, CRU (customer replaceable parts ) will not void the warranty as listed from the hardware manual . However most upgrades on this model shows that such are considered FRU (field replaceable unit) , meaning you would have to open up additional parts and might require skill and specific tools thus CRU ID is N. (item6 page 72 ).
1. Upgrading your RAM however would not void any warranty.
We had same issue discussed on this thread .
On quotes: " Similar to this query is this case  for the Z500 replacement of optical drive which is also a CRU Id - N and this thread.
Warranty agreement :
What this Warranty Does not Cover
- failure or damage resulting from misuse, abuse, accident, modification, unsuitable physical or operating environment, natural disasters, power surges, improper maintenance, or use not in accordance with product information materials
-damage caused by a non-authorized service provider
-failure of, or damage caused by, any third party products, including those that Lenovo may provide or integrate into the Lenovo product at your request
Warranty is not covered if during the process of modification , damage or accidents may incur both on the replaced parts and the original devices ."
The answer would be no , upgrading  the harddrive ,RAM will not void your warranty... Read more

Hello, I recently purchased Lenovo Flex 5 (14") laptop (Part Number:  80XA0011US). This comes with 16.0GB DDR4 2133 MHz and 1TB 5400 RPM+128GB PCIe SSD.  I have 3 questions: 1) I am hoping I like the laptop. If for some reason, I want to return it, how many days I have? And, is that from the date of purchase or date of delivery?  2) I forgot to buy warranty with the purchase. How many days I have to buy warranty?  3) I bought accessory - Slim DVD Burner. Will this be attached to the laptop or is this an external one? Thanks!

I bought a Lenovo Flex 5 14" and at first really enjoyed the product, but it quickly had screen flickering issues. Thankfully, it was still in warranty, so I shipped it back and the LCD was replaced. However, the testing must not have been very rigorous at all because after a while, it still has the same flickering issue. The root cause analysis was incomplete, the problem was not completely fixed, and now my device is out of warranty. I tried to contact Lenovo months back, but because my device was out of warranty, I couldn't get through. Now I really need to use this laptop again and it is basically useless without an external monitor. I am very disatisfied with the level of service received.

I have a spectre x360 13-4040nd of which the mainboard died. This happened around october 2016. I bought this laptop in april 2015 but i thought (my mistake) it was april 2014 so i didnt think i had warranty on it. Online support also says that my warranty ended april 2016. When my laptop died I took it to a repair company and they were the ones that told me the mainboard died and could only repair it by replacing the mainboard.  This would cost me around 900? so that wasnt really worth it for me so I left it for a while. Today I was looking for different options for my laptop, like selling parts etc. and somebody told me I still should have warranty on it because it should be 2 years. So my question is do i still have a warranty on it? Also after the repair company opened up the laptop which I also did to check if I still could use the SSD. Is there still little hope left or are there already to many mistakes from my side?

A:Do I still have warranty (dead mainboard)

Forget the warranty. If it were only a couple weeks after expiration maybe a chance but it is like 10 months. And it was opened.

I've got the same problem. I chat with the customer service. They make me send my laptop Y700 for reparation because the laptop is under warranty. I waited 2 weeks. When my laptop was sended back, the reparation was not done because my problem didn't respect Lenovo's ISO norm for dead pixels. I didn't know what it meant. The battery on my HP Pavillion Laptop will not charge and is likely dead. I have gone through all of the troubleshooting steps including: (1) uninstalling and reinstalling the batterty driver, (2) reverting back to a previous restore point and(3) reinstalling Windows 10.  None of these steps have work so I concluded that the battery is dead. My product is still under warranty but after an hour on this site, I still cannot determine how to get my battery replaced.  Please advise me on where I can request a replacement battery.

My U530 is dead - no power.  I have an extended warranty through Lenovo with next day on site repair.  When I contacted Lenovo this AM - Amber - and then her superviser Frances - tell me that they are undergoing maintenance for the next 24-48 hours and cannot even check and see what support I have for my computer (even though I am able to check on their site), and there will be a backlog of support calls once they go back online and can't even tell me "when" I'll get support. I don't understand how Lenovo can sell extended warranties with next day on site business support that they knowlingly and admittedly cannot fulfill.   To quote supervisor Frances "we cannot provide you with that".  I'm retired IBM, guess things just keep getting worse. Even when I get my "repair", it sounds suspiciously like it will get hauled off for replacement parts and who knows when I will get it back.  I will have to read the warranty document in detail - just sounds like a marketing tactic that Lenovo quite simply cannot deliver. Seems like they should provide a reconditioned computer (same or better) next business day and swap my hard disk if they can't "fix it".   Otherwise just send a shipping box and sell cheaper extended warranties.  (Though obviously this will be my last Lenovo).    NOTE:  I tried to "soft reboot" of BIOS holding down the power button while no power cord.  This didn't work.  Why would the B... Good Morning,
One of my students brought me her computer and it has a wee problem. She cannot get internet explorer to come online, but I ran adaware and was able to get an update, so there is a link there. Bunch of stuff on adaware, I'll remove it later, but one of the things was an lsp error, along with your general browser hijacks, data miners, etc. If someone, and by the lloks of whose on line I'll guess Derek, sould look over the HJT log and let me know what I need to fix, I would appreciate it. And yes, I know that http://server224.smartbotpro.net/7search/?hkcu shouldn't be there. Thats a fun little bugger. I went to the link to check it out and AVG caught it immediately as the startpage virus.

Hi guys and gals, I have a small problem and I was wondering if anyone knows how to fix it:

I have an old "ecostar" Playstation driving wheel that used to work fine on the console.

However, I bought a "game" adapter some years ago to plug it into the PC but, for some reason, the dead zone is huge! It makes playing racing games a chore. It's hardly playable, really.

So, I tried different drivers and utilities but I still got the same problem.

Can someone say if it's possible to somehow reduce the deadzone?

Thank you and happy holidays

I bought a Lenov Ideapad 510 15IKB on 14th April 2017. After few email conversations for purchase proof, finally on 3rd May, I received email confirming the base warranty registration of my product. It was starting from 14th April 2017 and ending on 13th April 2018. I checked the same on lenovo website. But few days back when I again checked the warranty status, it was restored to factory warranty (15 Oct 2016 - 13 nov 2017). I don't know why this happened and how this happened. When I contacted lenovo, they said that warranty is updated in their database but how can I beleive when I can't see this on warranty lookup section of the Lenovo official website. I have also attached the screen shot of warranty lookup page as of today (22 June 2017). Issue#2I registered for 2 year warranty extension under Back To School offer (Ticket Number - ADP-BTS-025399) on www.buyalenovo.com and made a payment of INR 999/- on 6th May 2017. On 10th May, i received an email confirming the receipt of payment and in the same email, it was mentioned that warranty certificate will be mailed to me within 7 bussiness day, but till the date I've not received any warranty certificate, I've sent so many emails in last one week, but I didn't receive any reply to any email. We have a case whereby the base warranty was expired end of 2017 (S200 MT10HQ) , but we have the invoice of june 2018.Now the service partner says, sorry no warranty as it have been expired, the warranty does not start from the end users date of purchase. Is there an warranty law for this in the EU or with Lenovo? We had similar cases with HP probooks which all was excepted with the date of invoice and not base warranty.

A:End user warranty starts from Base warranty or end users date of purchase?

Warranty starts with date of purchase.  You just have to register with Lenovo that you have wrong start date.  I had to do same thing with my niece's laptop.  See below website.  I just had to upload the purchase receipt to get the warranty start date corrected.  Hope the below helps.

I had a similar problem with an emachines T2825. When I plugged it in, it automatically came on, and wouldn't turn off unless I unplugged it. It wouldn't POST or anything. After testing everything, I found out that the motherboard was bad. So that would be my guess, is that it could possibly have a bad motherboard.

I'm working on a 10-yr old HP pavillion pc. The pc would not turn on at all, monitor displays 'no signal'. the pc lights flicker. I have owned my Vostro 1500 for nearly a year and a half since purchasing it from the Outlet.  I have had no problems at all until Sunday night when it just died.  No warning.  Just dead.  I first tried these suggestions found here and elsewhere on the web... Press Fn key while pressing power button, reseat DIMM A & B.  No signs of life.
Since it's out of warranty I feel like I have nothing to lose, so this morning I took everything apart looking for anything that looked melted or dislodged or overly dusty.  Everything looks great.  My husband has the same laptop, so I have been able to test the battery and AC adapter and in his and both work fine.   One thing I have noticed though is this.  When my AC adapter is plugged into the wall but not into the computer, the light is green.  The second I plug it into the laptop, the light goes out.  If I then plug the AC into the good laptop, the green light does not come back on until I separate the AC cord from the adapter (brick part) and plug it back in.  This leads me to think that it could be a problem with the DC Power Jack where the AC Adapter is plugged in.  But why wouldn't it still work with the battery??  Why would that cause it to just shut down mid use?  Is there any chance it can be revived?  This laptop has been like my right arm.  I feel lost without it.
Any thoughts and suggestions are greatly appreciated.  I&#... Read more

Sounds like your mother board is shot. Looks like it would be something possibly in the power supply section.

my toshiba laptop was dead, the powerlight came on, the hard-disk was spinning but the screen remained blank.
I tried everthing , stripping it completely, trying a new ram and narrowed the problem to the motherboard or the cpu. i.e I can conclude that the problem is with the the mobo or the cpu.
This was a month ago.

Today I switched on again and voila! it worked, the bios loaded! I had removed the hard-disk, so switched it off, attached the HD and started it up again.. this time it didn't work. And hasn't since. I have again stripped it down , but it still doesn't work.
CAn anyone plzzzzz exlplain what is going here?? I mean it started , that means nothings fried, right??

btw the fan spins for exactly 5 seconds before turning off.

A:Dead laptop came back to life, now dead again

there is something like a "hardware reset" available on many laptops.
- try to plug out everything except cpu and memory
- remove the battery and do not attach the power supply
- open the lid and hold the power on button for like 20 seconds
- plug everything back in and try to boot
that worked for me for some compaq and dell laptops which did act like yours

my two cents...

sony vaio xp sp2...lots of peripheral usage, we have front and rear usb ports, digital cameras, printers, mp3 players
one morning when switching the usb printer cable from the laptop back to the front usb port on the desktop, the computer froze and NONE of the usb's front or back, have worked ever since.

important to note is that we do lots of plugging/unplugging usbs for the above devices

what we have tried to awaken our usb's (keep in mind we are in the early learning stages of computer knowledge...)

static discharge
safe mode reinstallation of usb root, etc
system restore...didn't work...no matter how far back we went

last ditch chance is a system recovery, so we bought an external hard drive and are backing up ( as with everything we do, not without problems, but that is another post here)
in preparation for the recovery

any other, clear step by step advice for us?
thanks in advance!
