Lenovo y50-70 Problems after Win 10 update

Q: Lenovo y50-70 Problems after Win 10 update

Hello I've got a Lenovo y50 laptop that comes with a great app called Lenovo Energy Manager, this app comes with a great feature called conservation mode which makes it keep the battery at only 60%. Now after upgrading to Windows 10 I still have the app installed, but conservation mode no longer works. Does anyone with experience about Lenovo laptops with this feature know anything I can do to fix it?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi and Welcome to TSF!

Sounds like Lenovo hasn't fully updated the app yet. You will have to wait for them to do that.

Hello, As the title says, I have problems with the ATI driver. I have a Lenovo G510, with both an Intel HD 4600 and an ATI Radeon R5 M230. I just reinstalled windows 10 home edition. It automatically installs a driver for Intel HD 4600 ( v20...) as well as a driver for ATI Radeon ( v15 ), but I don't have the ATI options available ( I'm thinking about the switchable graphics one ) so I'm forced to try and download a driver from AMD site. I'm trying to install it but the installer froze when installing the actual driver and after I force shutdown and try to restart the laptop, the booting stops/blocks. Can anyone help?

Hello community,I registered here to find someone who can help me out. I own a Lenovo Y500. I updated the system in August 16 from win 8.1 to win10 without having any kind of issues. The whole system ran perfectly for almost 6 months.2 weeks ago win10 did one of its "standard" updates and since then I have extreme problems concerning my laptop. 1.win 10 says the latest update Windows 10 Version 1607 für x64-basierte Systeme (KB3200970) couldn't be installed properly so the installation process was stopped. I should do a restart. If I do so, the update gets downloaded again and win10 tries to install it again but AGAIN it wont work. That means I'm literally cought in some kind of update bubble 2. because of this failed update my USB drivers wont work anymore. Win10 says that INTEL driver update for Intel(R) 7 Series/C216 Chipset Family SMBus Host Controller - 1E22 failed, so all my USB devices dont work anymore, except my XBox controller 3. My office 2010 version refused to work after the failed update, the systems tells me that I dont have the correct product key but this is not too important for me. Using Libre instead. I already searched the net for a solution but nothing helped.I tried to install the Intel USB drivers using the INTEL Driver Update Utility but it didnt work, i also tried to install the driver right from the Intel hompage and it said my system doesnt fullfill the minimum requirements for the installation of the software... ... I have some problems with the Lenovo software. Lenovo Account Portal does not launch Lenovo Companion and Lenovo Settings. Also, Lenovo Solution Center is missing from the Start Menu. The second problem is that some tiles are blank in Start Menu. Seemingly it's the apps that aren't Metro. I'm not sure when the problem started, but I think it was like that since I got the PC. If I right click the apps, the only option will be "Pin to Start", and with some apps: Share and Rate. Here's a picture of the problem:I did already try:Restarting the PC.Doing scannow, DISM, and scannow again.Fixing Registry errors with CCleaner.Updating BIOS and drivers. What can I do to fix the problem?

I can't find anything relating to this update on any Lenovo site, and the response I got from calling support was "Sorry." I just updated one of my machines to W10 from W7.  When looking for one driver on the lenovo site I ran a EXE called service bridge that would intentify my PC and the drivers it needed that W10 did not find.  All worked well except the service bridge keep running at startup with the pop up to install.

Solution is to go to uninstall programs in W10 and uninstall the service bridge program.

Also a big thanks for Lenovo for replying to this issue they caused.  I'll say it as it is.

After a long wait I decided to long press Start button for hard reboot. Then the scary part comes in where it seems the laptop can't longer shows the Lenovo logo & cannot even boot to Windows, just black screen. Hope anyone can help me on this and give some advice on what I'm going to do. hi mahdhir2005,

Im sorry to hear that.

I would suggest you call the Lenovo Technical Team regarding the Issue. If it is the BIOS that's causing the issue then there maybe no source or option to have it fixed without they're help or service.

If the BIOS software you downloaded was from a legit Lenovo Site and correct model, then I think It will be ok to Just report them what happened and ask for possible option.

Hope this helped
Thanks!

Any ideas on what I can do to try and resurrect this beast?  Ive tried many hard power offs to no avail.

Hello everyone,

yesterday, 9.4.2016, windows update installed update with this name "Lenovo Ltd. driver update for Lenovo System Firmaware V 001". The problem is, that after that, my keyboard started to "stuck" at Mechwarrior game (do not even have to be in game, login screen is enough and if I alt+tab, it is stucking in windows too). Every half a second there is slight pause, whene the pressed key is stucked for a few moments and if no key is pressed, than you cannot press key for a few moments. It is quite annoying. I updated keyboard drivers but to no help. I wanted to uninstall that Lenovo update, but there is not an option to do so, unlikely other windows updates.

My question is following, anyone knows, what that update was about? What firmware was updated? In device manager system firmware version is still unchanged for half a year. And I was unable to find anything about it over the internet. Also, since I have no idea what was updated, I cannot revert to older version.

Thanks in advance to everyone.

I found this procedure on a lenovo forum. Give it a shot and see if it works for you. If not, it is not worth putting money into fixing this laptop.. New ones are pretty cheap and having a new mb installed in this one will cost more than a new laptop.

BTW the spelling errors are from the forum NOT mine.

Bios recovery procedure

How to Recover a bad or brick bios in lenovo laptops:

When creating the boot Floppy or usb memory, select from Folder Options to view the hiden and system files and delete or rename the file config.sys if present.

Hi,

- Select Repair your computer
- Click the operating system that you want to repair, and then click Next.
- In the System Recovery Options dialog box, click Command Prompt.

Using the Command Prompt type this:

bcdedit | find /i "osdevice"

This command will display output similar to : os device partition=D:. The drive letter after partition= is the drive that your Windows installation is located.
Type the following command but make sure you adjust the D: to match the returned drive from the first command.

del D:\Windows\System32\FNTCACHE.DAT

If the command above worked you will not see any error, if not please post the error.
After this Restart the computer and force windows to boot normally to see if you can access the Desktop.

Option (a) will keep me in the same loop. I have tried most of the options in (b) but nothing works out. The only extra clue I got is when I go to Startup Settings and select option 9)" Disable automatic restart after failure" from which an additional message was displayed:

error: INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE

I did not make any backup beforehand and now I'm hoping to restore to my previous setting without losing any files/data. Or it would be even better I could solve the problem without any restoration.

Please help. I cannot access to the Windows start-up anymore, not even in Safe Mode.

The best way if you can gain access to another computer is to get a ISO copy of Windows 8, put it to the USB with Microsoft Store

Then use the repair tool built into Windows 8.

Before attempting another upgrade which should not be a problem since your computer is so new remember to:

1) Check and Install latest Windows Updates.

2) Check for Firmware updates

3) No external devices plugged in during the install

4) Consider doing a clean boot.
