IE 6 delay when typing and slow scrolling

Q: IE 6 delay when typing and slow scrolling

I recently downloaded IE6. Since then I have been experiencing delayed typing when filling out the forms on web pages and very slow scrolling. This only happens on a few websites, like ebay and some shopping sites. I found a post from a person who was experiencing the same problems and tried to follow the same fix, however my "Hijack This" log does not look the same. Following is my log, any help would be greatly appreciated, I've been going nuts!!!

Preferred Solution: IE 6 delay when typing and slow scrolling

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Hello I use Firefox as my browser and it is slow to typing and even slow scrolling with my mouse. Works great with IE. I have gotten the latest version and addon updates yet it was still the same...so I uninstalled FireFox and all addons and reinstalled an earlier version...still the same.

Any ideas what to do...this is also happing on my laptop in another room.

It seems to be typing OK here...no lag what soever....now that is just confusing.!!! Could it be script on those forums?

A:Slow Typing, scrolling

It depends on what you're using at the time and what scripts the site is using. If the site has a lot of animated Flash ads or movies, then the site would be slower than a site without those.

Hello, I have Windows 98 second edition. On many web sites i have very slow delayed typing and slow scrolling. Could you please give me any easy step to correct this headache, Thanks

A:slow typing and scrolling

hey, a couple questions. having windows 98, im going to assume that this computer has been around for 4 or more years. do you run adaware/spybot check often? (google those two)

second, what kind of connection do you have, eg, dial-up, DSL. cause even DSL/cable can get slow times... which would affect your page load times. just a thought from me.

Just started having problems with my internet access yesterday. Coincidentally (or not), I also downloaded software from the partypoker.net site the same day. I'm guessing that is what is causing the trouble. When I type, there is a significant delay and sometimes the keystrokes don't appear at all. I've gone through each step in the "Preparation Guide for use before posting a HijackThis Log" and the problem has improved but still seems present. I'd be very grateful for any help in solving the problem. When I restart or turn on my lap top after it's been off for a while it will only give me my background picture. No icons, no start menu at the bottom, nothing. Until I try to run a new task from the task manager (CTRL-ALT-DEL is the only keystroke-type command I know) Then everything starts appearing as if nothing was wrong. When I type online there is a huge delay between when I push the buttons and when they appear on the screen. My virus scans show nothing is wrong. (I use trend-mirco's firewall and virus scanning products and also use firefox and I don't know if trend-micro only works on internet explorer or not...) I tried defragmenting to try and speed up the typing ting but it did no good... I don't know what is wrong but I do know that I can't get the updates from the updates.microsort.com website even though they are in the trusted websites thing in internet explorer (which is what I used to try and get the updates because you can't get them through firefox) and every time I open the computer (even from stand-by) I get a message from trend micro telling me it is stopping unauthorized changes and that change is some sort of "program Library Injection" that has to be blocked about a hundred times in a minute for the first 2 to 5 minutes of the computer being on. I don't know what is wrong but I do know that something is not right.

No, but i can probably tell you that the problem is the 1.60GHz processor. You will probably need atleast 1.80GHz to 2.00GHz clock speed.

I am a Wikpedia editor and about a year and a half ago I encountered a problem where when I type something in the edit box, it would take a second before the words actually appeared on the screen. This only happens in wikpedia. So I scanned with Malwarebytes and got a malware and quarantined it. After that the issue was gone. About a week ago the problem came back. But I don't know if it's malware again, because Malwarebytes and Avast couldn't catch it. Please help me get rid of this annoying problem.

Hello everyone ! I have a slight problem with my wifes typing on web pages and that seems to be the only place it takes place does not happen in word or any other software installed just the world wide web. she is using IE 8 due to the fact she will not let me upgrade here system from XP so anyway whenever she starts hammering away over there in he corner the text input on the web page does not keep up with her input on the key board. She has to stop for 2 to 4 seconds and wait for her typing to appear on the screen . Have not had the chance to disable all add ons yet as she always seems to be there when I have a chance to work on her system. I have though run several virus scans and malware scans and so forth and so on but nothing really showing up to amount to anything. Everything goes in fine in word and whatever else she uses just seems to be the web . I hope I have been clear enough to explain the situation so if more info is needed I will do my best to offer and continue to research on.

This happens quite often and usually a reboot fixes the problem but I was wondering if anyone else is experiencing this issue.

Once my laptop has been running for a while (day or two) I will notice that when I am pounding away at the keyboard typing there will be a delay until the characters actually show up. Sometimes I am 8-10 characters ahead of what is being displayed on the screen. It makes it real hard to understand if I have typed the correct letter/characters sometimes. If I go to tap the Backspace key a few times to delete it's delayed as well.

When I reboot the problem is gone. Very strange problem and I am sure it's a bug or something that causes a memory leak of some sort somewhere. Call me crazy... LOL!

Anybody else experience this?

I'm curious as to whether yer keyboard is a USB one. Could be the USB port is underpowered or something. You could try plugging your keyboard into another port (if it is USB). Do not plug it into a USB hub. Try plugging it directly into one of the rear ports on your computer.

Intel Core i7-4720HQ 2.6 GHz Processor
16 GB DDR3 RAM
256 GB Solid-State Drive
15.6-Inch Screen; NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960M Graphics; Intel HD Graphics 4600
Windows 8.1

Randomly while I use the laptop, I get an odd typing and deleting delay. When deleting a line of text, it goes realllllly slow. When I type quickly, there is a noticeable delay as well.

This lag doesnt happen always but once it starts, i usually have to restart my pc to get it to stop. Is there something wrong with the intel driver? or what i have no idea!!

Thank you for any insight/suggestions

A:Typing lag/delay mystery WTF?

Hi use Clean boot,
Troubleshoot Application Conflicts by Performing a Clean Startup
Click Start and type in the search box,
msconfig
Click on the suggestion on top or hit the Enter key,
Go to the Startup section and take some screen shots for a complete list,
Go to the Services section and on the bottom left Check the box to Hide All Microsoft services,
Repeat the screen shots,

Check task manager to see what % your CPU is running. You may have some malware or failty software that is occupying almost all the CPU time.

I just got this HP Pavilion x360 (the convertible laptop/tablet) last week, and I've been having troubles with the keyboard. On certain websites, such as this one, there is no typing delay. However, on Facebook, Facebook Messenger, and Word Online, the characters I'm typing DO NOT appear on the screen at the same time that I'm typing them. It either freezes for a second and then quickly inputs all of what I've typed, or it just takes a few seconds longer for each key I press to show up on the screen. I've checeked to make sure Filterkeys isn't enabled and that no extensions are running in the browser. This happens in both Microsoft Edge and Chrome. P.S. when I was registering for an HP support account, I just realized that the @ key and the " are switched. So shift+2 gives me an ", and shift+" gives me an @ sign. Please help! I really like the computer other than this horrible typing lag.

Hi all -

What a pain! Recently I've started having a problem where each time I type a character there is a one second delay before it appears on my Yahoo Messenger window. Logging in and chatting takes forever.

I downloaded trillian and same problem.

I ran Spybot, Microsoft AntiSpyware, AdAware, HijackThis and tons of others. Cleaned up but to no avail. Here's my HijackThis log. Any advice?

Hello there, this problem is not extremely important, so by all means, if someone else needs to be helped first, no problem.

When I open firefox 3 or the IE Explorer, and I procede to type in the search bar of any search engine or just the address bar there is a slight delay in when I type to when the typed shows up on the screen. Just wanted to know if there is any remedy to this situation.

Steps I have taken....

1. I have just rebounded from a devistating virus attack. Thanks to your forums and Simon I was able to get things cleaned up.

2. I am using clamwin as anti virus

3. I am always scanning my pc for malwar via spybot, ad aware and other such programs as well.

If you need a greater detail for what I have done in reguards to the virus there is probably a way you can link to my other posts in the other forum.

Let me know, and thanks again in advance.

Brandon

Hi! First time poster...I've been having some delay problems while typing or scrolling. When I start to type or scroll down a page with my mouse, it takes a few seconds to catch up. I thought it might be spyware, so I went through a Forum and got that all cleaned up, but my problem remained. It started happening a couple months ago and I can't think of anything that could have caused it to start. Any ideas?? They told me to post my topic at the other Forum in case someone needed to see what they did.http://spywarewarrior.com/viewtopic.php?t=24695Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

Please help. I tried this under security but maybe it should have been here. I've check out several boards and seen problems close to mine but the fixes don't work. This started a couple months ago about the time I upgraded Netscape but I can't swear that has anything to do with it. I've always used Netscape because it runs faster for me. When I scroll it is either very slow or it stops for a few seconds and then jerks to catch up. Typing does the same thing. I will type several words before they all of a sudden show up on the screen. All this is happens about half the time. I've noticed even when I play Hoyle card games it sometimes is jerkly. I am mostly looking around Ebay so I don't know if that has anything to do with it. I absolutely never open emails with attachments or click on anything in an email. I use Norton Systemworks, Norton Firewall and I've recently used AdAware and CWShredder. I had a tech person "tune up" my computer, rid of temp. files, defragged, antivirus, etc. My computer is only 1 1/2 yrs. old. Please help me and keep in mind I know more about the Internet than I do the computer itself. This has taken all the joy out of being on line.

Title I wanted to use: Windows XP SP3: Slow Startup / Boot: Black Screen Delay & Delay after logging in

For some reason I can't preview my post when I use this title: I have tried removing all the punctuation, including the &, which doesn't work and have tried other titles with the same character length, which does work.

Problem Begins Here:

When I turn on or restart my computer, the boot up time from the time I press the power button to the time the final icon on my desktop loads is slow. I am not too concerned about the time after my desktop is shown since I have several items to run at startup.

The two areas of concern are:

1) After the XP logo is shown, my screen goes black. This lasts for about 17 to 19 seconds. I don't know when this started as I rarely restart my computer. The problem is worse if I startup in Safe Mode. It's about 1 minute and 10 seconds before I see anything on the screen, and another 40 seconds before something else is shown on screen. Note: In order to not to have to waste time pressing F8 and choosing Safe Mode, I enter safe mode by specifying so in msconfig. The options I chose were /SAFEBOOT and Minimal.

2) After I login, there is a delay of about 30 to 45 seconds before the desktop is shown. Windows stays at the login confirmation screen during that time. This I feel has happened recently.

Boot Time Results tested using a stopwatch:

Normal Boot (i.e. Not Safe Mode):
Time shown next to event is for when ... Read more

I have tried on another forum getting answers to my problem with my new purchase.

Just acquired my first win 8 laptop. I had a loaner win 8 and hated everything between the computer and OS. I really like this Lenovo but im still having issues with win 8. Mainly this computer and the rental one seems very bogged down. Everything from social media or streaming etc even scrolling down this forum page has such a Lag or delay. Is this typical for win 8, can i do anything about this?

the lag is a delay. everytime I would scroll down a page it would have a delay, or if i stream a video (I use chromecast) it is delayed and choppy. My Win 7 Laptop had zero issues like these.

Specs:
PC SPEC (specInfo)
CPU: AMD E1-2100 APU with Radeon(TM) HD Graphics
MB: LENOVO (Lenovo G505)
RAM: 3529mb
HDD: 465gb (WDC WD5000LPVT-24G33T1)
GPU: AMD Radeon HD 8210
Sound: Conexant SmartAudio HD
OS: Windows 8.1 (9600)
Scr: Generic PnP Monitor

A:delay when scrolling and choppy streaming of videos.

So it may just be a coincidence. I just installed Windows 10 on my PC. And now when I try to type in yahoo mail it only lets me type one letter at a time. Then I get this twirling blue icon indicating it is working on adding that ONE letter to the message. I have never had this problem before.

Has anyone else had this problem. And if so, how might I get yahoo mail to accept letters typed as I type them?

Hi all.

I come now with a new problem. I pretended for some time I did not care, but that is now making me pull the hair from my head.

I installed something (which I did not pay attention to at that time and I don't remember what it was) and too many other programs after that (programs I constantly use, and therefore I don't want to get rid of). If I roll back my computer to an earlier time to dismiss this problem, I would be uninstalling all those valuable programs I am talking about.

Since the first installation, when I select in excel (using the mouse), when I am typing in Word, Internet or whatever other program, things stop working. There is a delay in response. I type, but I don't see what is just typed on the screen, because the computer freezes undexpectedly, and then it comes with the whole thing at once. In the meantime, I could have made a mistake in typing, but because I couldn't see it right away on the screen, I cannot be sure if I made it, and have to wait until the computer 'defreezes' back and keeps working along.
The delay doesn't last too long, but it's frequent and recurrent. So it's always there. It is a pain in the neck, and I am being very decent to say it.

It is not the Ram, because I have plenty of it. It is not the speed of the chip, because my computer is not old. It is not a wrong installation of the programs I installed because everything works fine at the end. It is just that freaking delay that re... Read more

A:Hesitation In Scrolling And Typing, General Slowness

Hello Mark Dunn and welcome to the BC HijackThis forum. I see no signs of viruses or malware in the log. It is clean. There are a couple of housekeeping items to clean out so let's do that while you are here.Start HijackThis and click the Scan button to perform a scan. Look for the following items and click in the checkbox in front of each item to select it:O2 - BHO: (no name) - {A5366673-E8CA-11D3-9CD9-0090271D075B} - (no file)O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Rename] "C:\WINDOWS\TEMP\Setup.exe" /RenameNow close ALL open windows except HijackThis and click the Fix Checked button to finish the repair and then reboot the machine. As for the hesitation, if it only occurs when usb devices are plugged in then it would point to an issue with either the usb devices (bad device or cable possibly) or ports (configuration or driver issue). I suggest posting a topic in the Win98 forum and let them analyze the devices/port configuration. Let them know that you have been to this forum and that no malware was found.Cheers.OT

When I input something with my keyboard, the touchpad/trackpoint doesn't accept any clicking for about ~0.5 seconds. Its a small delay but it is driving me insane. T460 laptop, Synaptics Clickpad V1.1 Things I've tried:-  Reinstalling drivers, and restarting laptop. Nothing changed.-  Turned palm rejection to minimum. This fixes an earlier problem where the mouse would stop moving with keyboard presses, but it doesn't affect the clicking delay.-  Went into the registry editor, found 'synaptics' under 'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE' but couldn't find any variables that indicate a delay after keyboard presses. I'd really appreciate any help with this. ~3 hours of googling isn't helping me. Thanks in advance.

Hello Techspot!!!!

I have had my laptop for nearly 3 years but I wouldn't deem it to be a poor performance laptop. Recently I have been getting slow internet, poor keyboard response and slow scrolling, and it is very frustrating!!! I share the BT 3 homehub with good connection speed which was checked and found fine! My housemates laptop has started having the same problem as mine and I really want to fix this issue. The internet, keyboard and scrolling speeds vary everyday but overall are slow performers. I have looked through some of the threads and have seen people posting long threads of code etc :/ Is there anyone out there who has the time and patience to help me fix this problem? It would be most appreciated!!!

Many Thanks

Dan

I get the following pop up every morning when I start my computer:

Line: 1
Char: 78
Error: Invalid root in registry key
HKCU\software\pdqg\ysssfcv
Code: 0
URL:

This is followed by a notepad with a log and I have to exit twice before the popups stop. I also get warnings that Acrobat cannot finish its update. This has been going on for a few months. In addition, my keyboard will delay typing 5-10 seconds or type multiples of the same letter. This makes Copy and Paste functions very difficult to do. I change my batteries in the wireless keyboard often to rule that out. I am not very tech savvy but try my best and can usually figure my way out of a problem, but this one has stumped me. At the end of each day I run CCleaner and usually have 5-600 GB that is cleared up. I then restart the computer and don't turn it off so that our server can run its backup. I do notice that if I don't do CCleaner my computer is extra sluggish.

A friend of mine has reported a problem whereby his computer is very sluggish when scrolling a web page, I believe, using the scroll wheel.

All used to be OK until about a month ago when he started experienceing this problem. Has anyone any experience of anything of this type? Is there any sort of 'mal-ware' which you've come across which might do this?

He's running Windows ME and connecting via AOL usinf Internet Explorer on a machine which is about 3 years old. It doesn't seem to be site related and as yet I've not determined whether this happens on web pages stored locally on his machine or only when he's actually connected. Nor have I yet checked whether this also happens in Netscape.

A few weeks ago internet explorer became very slow. Scrolling on sites like ebay is almost impossible. Even typing this takes forever. I downloaded and ran Ad-aware, Spybot and antivir. Ad-aware found and removed 84 items but the problem remains. I downloaded Hijack This with the hope that someone would identify my problem. The file seems much shorter than some others. I'm lost as to how to interpret though. Any help would be appreciated.
