I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

I've had it! 3rd time I install Windows 7, 3rd time I'm having ****ty problems because of the Graph Cards driver!

Is there any SIMPLE way to make it work? I have of course already tried to install the driver, but all I got was **** like "This program did not install. Try again later.."

try re-d/loading the driver, temp disable any download accelerator, and disable anti-virus whilst installing. if you already have then ignore that last bit

I own a Dell laptop, named Inspiron 15 7000 gaming (Inspiron 7577). Specs are: Win10 64bit, i7 7700HQ, 16gb Ram, GTX 1060 6GB with "Max-Q Design" The laptop had already installed nvidia driver Version 382.78. from dell. I crosschecked this with the official dell support side and it showed me no newer Version. I also used geforce expierence and it showed me a newer driver version - 385.69. Next i clicked on download and wanted to update but then following message popped up:
"This graphics driver could not find compatible graphics hardware"I also tried it with a direct download from the nv website under notebooks driver section for the 1060 Series and got the same error message. I had this problem with the earlier 66.71 drivers and I just installed 66.93 and had the problem again (I was using a nonofficial driver, can't remember number). What it appears to be doing is taking the polygons of certain things and extending them, like lines, across the entire world, they move with the originating entity, but they just extend to infinity... This has happened with both Far Cry and the World of Warcraft Beta, both of which worked fine with the non-official drivers. Has anyone ever heard of this kind of thing before, or am I alone in this?

Hello and welcome to Techspot.

Did you completely uninstall the old driver first?

Also when installing drivers it`s a good idea to disable any antivirus programme you are using as this can seriously screw up the process of installing and uninstalling.

I tried to update the built in Nvidia NVS 5400M to the latest Nvidia driver from Nvidia's website R390 U8 (392.00)  WHQL After reboot the thinkpad would crash imidately anywhere within a few seconds, to two minutes after boot. The only way to stop the thinkpad from shuting down after boot is to select intergrated graphics in BIOS and completely disable the Nvidia GPU. I DDUed the drver and tried reinstalling... no dice. Nvidia says I have no compatable devices installed.I DDUed and reinstalled the driver package for the NVS 5400M from Lenovo... no dice. Thinkpad still crashes right after booting Windows.I tried to roll back the driver but the Nvidia NVS 5400M doesnt show up in device manager. Instead it says Standard VGA Graphics Adapter with a yellow triangle warning symbol. Properties shows error: "This device can not start" (Code 10)I did a system update from Lenovo for all the recomended updates (not optional).I checked Windows updates and everything is up to date. I'm starting to think that the NVS 5400M died... But I'm still clinging on to hope that that's not the case.

A:[SOLVED] T430 shuts down crashes when booting with Nvidia GPU enabled after Nvidia driver update

OK... I [SOLVED] the issue... I downloaded the lenovo nvidia nvs 5400m driver again from Lenovo...I deleted the Nvidia folder C: DRIVERS/WIN/VIDEO/NVIDIAThen I reinstalled the drivers from Lenovo while the GPU was disabled in BIOS.I finished the driver install and let the ThinkPad reboot and load up Windows. Then I did a reboot, went into BOIS and enabled the GPU again...When Windows loaded I imidately went into the folder C: DRIVERS/WIN/VIDEO/NVIDIA and ran setup.exeNvidia was able to see the GPUI did a custom install and only selected the graphics driver, it got all the way to the end asking me to reboot... but before I could click on reboot the thinkpad died again. When I truned on the thinkpad again I could tell Windows was trying to sort itself out.... like it does when you add multiple graphics cards. When Windows loaded I imeditaly went back to setup.exe and tried again... This time it ran all the way through but didn't ask me to reboot so Im guessing it had detected drivers already installed from my prior attempt.Checked Device Manager and Nvidia NVS 4500M was there. No crash or shut down... Problem [SOLVED]

Dam* niggles will get you every time o.0

You will want to use the 'official' driver. There are all kinds of mini-210 hp PCs: HP Support & Drivers | United States - find yours, make sure if your computer is 64 bit, you get the 64bit driver; and if it is 32bit, get the 32bit (or x86) driver.

After you download it, go into control panel and remove any wireless adapter driver software you might have, and then install the software you just downloaded. All you should have to do is find your network and connect to it, entering in a single password.

If this doesn't work, let me know

While it is true the beta drivers 82.12 and 83.90 detects the card, there are still no official drivers that see it. Even worse, the newest beta 84.12 does not see it. Just what the hell is going on here? I spent good money for this card and this haphazard business from nvidia is not appreciated.
What do you all think?

Athlon xp 2400 @ 2.0ghz
768 mb ram
Biostar Vig pro Mobo (yes you can stop laughing now... Smile)
2 Western Digital Hard drives....one 40 and an 80
Bfg 6800gs agp
cmedia onboard sound
intel modem
350 watt Psu
liteon Dvd-rw

I hear you can change the inf file to see the card, but i feel thats not very safe since each driver release makes changes and if these aren't for this line that could royally screw things up.
I feel that nvidia has slipped terribly this round, bothering with their 7900 release. A little later I'm going to send them an email to see just what the hell are they doing. Something is not right, there is a disturbance in the force.....and soon people will be crying out in a single voice.

You cannot use the Intel drivers because Dell customizes drivers for your specific model laptop. If ever there is an update for your model it will come from Dell--but that rarely happens.

Hello all,

I'd thought i'd post this here before contacting nvidia or leadtek. My system currently runs a Leadtek gtx280 I updated my driver from 178.24 to the new 181.20.

I have been playing GT4, however since updating to the new 181.20 driver it seems quite slow and sluggish, I have had to reduce the graphics etc. I also switched back to the 178.24 driver and it works fine at the higher settings.

Has anyone else experienced anything like this? I can't say I've noticed a difference in other demanding games like FarCry 2 though.

I look forward to any responses received or solutions.

I'm running Windows 7, Ultimate that was recently re-installed. At that time Windows installed a graphics driver. Since Dell update reported an update driver was available, I tried to update the driver for the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560ti. The update appeared to download properly but the NVIDIA Installer failed... indicating that (1) Microsoft.NET framework version 4 did not install and (2) NVIDIA GeForce Experience 2.1.6 did not install. The error message reads: "The required line was not found in the INF." I downloaded and installed Microsoft.NET framework, but the identical error message persists. Nothing will install from the NVidia site.
I have tried to install from the Dell drivers update site as well as NVIDIA.com. Dell reports that "an error" occurred during installation. system is Dell e521

A:Solved: nvidia 6150le driver advice

The most current NVIDIA GeForce 6150LE graphics driver is 301.42(, but updating it likely will not resolve the slow boot issue.

If you want to update it anyway, download and save it, then close all open windows first, then install it.

It should overwrite and replace the older version.

Let's see what's auto-starting and running in the background.

Go to Start - Run - MSCONFIG - OK - "Startup" tab.

Write down ONLY the names in the "Startup Item" column that have a checkmark next to them.

If the "Startup Item" column isn't wide enough to see the entire name of any of them, widen the column.

Submit those names here in a vertical list.

Make sure to spell them EXACTLY as you see them there.

I have a Toshiba Qosmio X500. It's 3 years old but a very expensive laptop and far from obsolete.

I installed Geforce experience which automatically updated the driver. The installation failed part way through. Geforce gave no reason, just described it as a fail. The files downloaded and unpacked and the installation process commenced but it stopped with the bar on about 10%. It then tried to roll back, choosing what looked like the windows update process to do so. This reported a fail too. I did it several times with the same result. I then tried downloading a driver a couple of years old and that did the same. I guess this is a hardware error. My questions:

Is there a way to confirm it is a hardware error? The machine had suffered from overheating in the past and I thought I noticed slowdown of the graphics, however I sent it to a professional repair station which made a few minor repairs and checks and didn't report a failed graphics card.

Can I replace or upgrade the graphics card? I can't find anyone online that sells them. It is a GTX 460M.

Of course I took a restore point before starting the update. Unfortunately when the update failed I uninstalled a programme as disk space was low and I thought that may be the problem. Without telling me, Windows overwrote my restore point.

Thanks a lot for your help

Trying to be helpful to my hubby, *sigh*, I was browsing through Properties to *fix* something that went awry with his display. I noticed his display was set to Nvidia, and changed it back to default. WRONG!!!

Now we can't find a way to change it back. When he boots, all his icons disappear off the left of his screen. When he tries to open anything at all, it also disappears off the left of the screen. All you can see is his wallpaper and the bottom tool bar.

We tried rebooting in Safe Mode, but you can't change monitor drivers there.

A:Solved: Updating an NVIDIA driver in Vista

Go to NVidia and get the driver.

In most cases, it is not necessary to remove the old driver first. Do that only if you have problems later that you can't resolve any other way.

You could do the update automatically, as you mentioned, but the Microsoft driver is not as complete as the one directly from NVidia. It may not support OpenGL graphics, for example, so I'd suggest using the NVidia site.

Hey guys and gals,

basically I just installed battlefield2 and when I went to open the game..it wouldn't launch. I have an Nvidia GeForce 8800gtx and I thought my driver might be out of date so I did an update. Whatever driver I got in the update was wrong.. so I uninstalled my graphics driver completely.

Now I've visited the nvidia site and I've downloaded what they say is the latest driver.

I have tried to install it but get this error message.. The nvidia setup program could not locate any drivers that are compatible with your current hardware..the setup will now exit.

So where can I get the most basic or even most reliable 8800gtx driver ( I am using xp 32bit ). Thank you!

Also is anyone familiar with any good program that I could get thats free ( and legal ) that would scan all my drivers and automatically update them ? There is a program called Driver Robot that detected that I have 40 odd drivers that could use updates.. now I know few of those are critical but still..it would be nice if some free software did this for me . Any ideas?

Thanks again all

Hello all,

After the installing XP and updating it to SP2 (ugh!), am starting to hunt down all my needed drivers. The one remaining is one for the video card. Now must let you know I'm using an Alienware 51m 5500 laptop, with a nVIDIA GeForce Go5700 card. In it's day it was flash as they came!

I've gone to the nVIDIA website, downloaded the driver (actually two different versions) and tried to install it. I get an error telling me that there are NO drivers for the new one to update. Bugger, need to install one.

On the Utility disk there is are AGP and VGA drivers. Installed them, or at least I thought I had installed them.

In Control Panel I do not see an nVIDIA folder (like before the horrible crash of the HDD), so I correct in assuming that I don't have one installed? LOL.

Any assistance would be great!

Thank you in advance!

I've had this P40 a year or so with no issues. Discovered some sluggish graphics performance, checked to make sure nvidia was being used, and it wasn't. Went to change the nVidia settings and there was no nVidia control panel in my menus. Tried installing the latest drivers for the Quadro M500M. Uninstalled all nVidia drivers and software, directories (in C:\ and in Program Files) and installed selecting the "clean installation" option. Nothing I do will bring the nVidia control panel back. The whole reason I purchased this was the Quadro support. Outraged I just paid for another year of warranty only to find out that doesn't cover software issues at all. Anyone have a suggestion? I placed in another PC, booted up, and got the ugly 640x480 resolution. I could change the resolution in the Displays settings fine.

However, some old games that required OpenGL just wouldn't run at all, while they would run fine on the other PC. Also, I couldn't play videos in VLC or Windows Media Player.

I forgot all about updating the drivers, so I upgraded the drivers using the last supported version for my MX400, v93.71, from the Nvidia site. I got the "Drivers updated successfully, please restart" message, and restarted. The PC restarted, the Windows logo appeared, the loading bar moved around, and then the screen just went completely blank.

I could only boot the PC into VGA or safe mode, so I used System Restore to go back to the time I removed the driver. And now everything is fine again. Except that I can't watch videos or play 3D games.

The other PC also had the latest drivers installed, and worked fine. Not sure why this is happening to this PC.

Oh yeah, and heres my specs:
Processor: P4 HT 2.6Ghz "Northwood"
Mobo: FIC P4-865PE Max
RAM: 1.25GB PC3200 DDR

When i put in my Geforce FX 5200 and put in the PNY FX5200 Driver Installation CD it successful installed...but then proceeded to give me a blue screen 15 seconds later saying its going to shut down to prevent any error. when i reboot...15 seconds in the blue screen pops out again saying its going to shut down to prevent any errors...soo the only way the error message would go away would be to go back and use onboard....now every time it boots up it says one of the VGA doesnt work.

i went to device manager and clicked on FX 5200 and it said "Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)

Click 'Check for solutions' to send data about this device to Microsoft and to see if there is a solution available."
So...i proceeded to click "update driver" and "search automatically online" and it failed.
help anyone?

I have been having an issue with my flash drive being recognized by my laptop computer. When I initially start up my computer, it reads my flash drive. If I take out my flash drive and reinsert it, it no longer reads it. (It still makes the sound the the
computer recognizes it was inserted, but it won't open the drive.) When I go into device manger, it has that yellow exclamation point with this message, "Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware because a previous instance of the device
driver is still in memory. (Code 38)". My cordless mouse has been working just fine.
I did troubleshooting and it told me to restart the computer. That helps for the first time, but then when I reinsert the flash drive , the problem happens again.
I tried to uninstall the hubs and reinstall but that also doesn't seem to be helping.
Any ideas?

Hi again,

So I copied the code from http://forums.techguy.org/business-a...heet-easy.html to get my link to go back to the previous active sheet.

I would like an ammendment that allows the link to go back to not only the previous sheet, but also the previous cell where the hyperlink you clicked on to navigate away from the first sheet was located. In effect, when you returned via the macro described in the link above, you would know where you clicked because the cell would be highlighted.

Any help on what changes need to be made so that this can be done would be greatly appreciated.

A:Solved: Macro add-on, previous sheet to previous sheet and cell

When you left the "Last Active Sheet" you were active in a cell when you left that sheet. Now when you click the button to take you back to the last sheet you will already be active in the last cell you were on.

hi, last night i googled something and stumbled upon a thread saying you should always uninstall previous version of drivers when installing a newer version. i kept looking and there is pretty mixed opinion about it. so what actually happens to the previous version when you install a newer one over the top of it, would it not just remain in the driver store in case you need to roll back to that version.??

A:Uninstall previous version driver??

Hello Mitchell,

There are different opinions about this. Some drivers require to uninstalling the previous version before installing the new version and others don't do this.

Uninstalling the old drivers is required because they might run in conflict with the newer versions. I think, the best time to wipe the old drivers from computer is when everything run smooth on the new ones and you are sure you won't need to revert to the old ones.

Well, that's my two cents.

While setting up Photoshop CS4 they reccommended I update my display driver to use their opengl capabilities. I updated it and the opengl is having problems and won't work. Oddly, I'm pretty sure it was workign before I updated it, so how do I roll back to the previous one, without rolling back to the factory default?
I'm hesitant to use system restore because that causes such global changes that I never know what it will do. Besides, it makes deleted folders re appear empty as well as exe files. ><

A:Revert Display Driver to Previous? (not factory)

The rollback should reapply that last driver used before the upgrade was done, not the default (original) driver

So basically when I try to install the newest driver. If I choose custom install with the old driver installed it detects my video card and lets me install the driver (I haven't done this yet, since ATI suggests all previous drivers should be uninstalled). If I follow standard procedure and express uninstall the previous catalyst suite it no longer detects my video card and I can't install the new display driver. I took a look in device manager and everything looks fine with the current driver installed (12.6) - here is a shot http://i.imgur.com/DFMvl.jpg. But I noticed that when I do uninstall the drivers it says "standard VGA adapter" or something similar instead, and I can no longer install any drivers, including 12.6. The only way I can revert to having my driver installed is via restore point in windows. I sent a letter to support about a couple of months ago and they never got back to me. Maybe because I once told them their feedback was always useless, who knows. The thing is, I don't know what to do. My windows is up to date, my registry is clean (I use ccleaner), and I'm no advanced user, even though I follow instructions well enough. Hope someone here can help me out. Thanks !

A:Can't Install ATI Drivers Once I Uninstall Previous Driver

As you have a notebook, you may need to use drivers from Acer:

Acer Support: Downloads & Support Documents - Notebook / Aspire / Aspire 5740G

That's assuming that Acer uses a custom device ID for the graphics adapter. (That seems to be a common practice in notebooks.)

If you wish to update them from the AMD site, you may have to install the new drivers over the old. That should be safe enough.

I first wrote about this issue in another recent thread, when I was trying to deliver HDMI audio+video from my P70 with M3000M NVidia GPU (running Win10) to my LG OLED HDTV connected through either miniDP->HDMI or HDMI->HDMI cables, and failing to get audio. After a fair amount of research I initially came to the eventual conclusion that it was an NVidia problem, somehow related to their latest "retail" 411.95 WHQL driver I was using on my P70 (which was set in the BIOS to run with "discrete graphics").  Reverting back to successively older driver packages also available on the NVidia driver download site, I discovered that version 392.00 was their last WHQL driver package which did successfully install the NVidia HD Audio device which facilitated sending digital audio to an external HDTV via HDMI cable.
So 411.95, 411.81 and 411.63 all failed to install the NVida HD Audio device. But 392.00 (and older versions 391.89, 391.74) all DID install the NVidia HD Audio device. Hmmm.
I opened a ticket with NVidia Tech Support several days ago, and they asked me if I had tried the official Lenovo-provided NVidia Graphics Driver package and if that made nay difference, which to be honest I had not... since I don't run my P70 in Optimus (i.e. "hybrid graphics") mode but rather operate in "discrete graphics" mode and have always used the latest retail NVida drivers. So today I decided to reset my P70 back to "hybrid graphics" mode so that I could install the very... Read more

Hi, I am using a HP Pavilion Notebook 17-f001nl (ENERGY STAR) -  Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4510U CPU @ 2.00GHz - Intel(R) HD Graphics Family (driver version and NVIDIA GeForce 840M (driver version 376.09). Since August 2016 I have been experiencing the 'Display Driver NVIDIA Windows Kernel Mode Driver, version ... stopped working and has been restored' error everytime I start a game from the Steam library. This is often followed by a blue screen and my laptop restarting. The blue screen errors are often associated with 'kernel mode errors' and 'video tdr failure'.I managed to send my laptop to the HP support centre in August, when it was still covered by the warranty. The laptop came back with a new NVIDIA GeForce 840M, but the problems persisted. I have tried pretty much every solution that I managed to find online, without any real success, including: -Clean install almost every NVIDIA driver available for my graphic card and my OS-update the driver of the Intel HD Graphics card-install or hide the NVIDIA graphic adapter WDDM-overclock/underclock-something regarding increasing the time that the graphic card 'waits' for a program to respond, changing it from 2 seconds to 8 seconds I think (cannot recall what the exact process was now)-changing the settings on the NVIDIA Control Panel (e.g. forcing programs to be run by the NVIDIA card, changing the setting of individual games to be run at maximal performance, etc.)-changing settings through... After many many hours of searching forums for solutions I have been unable to find a solution to my problem - so I decided to open a topic of my own and hope someone can help me with my problem specifically.

My problem is similar to this topic, although the solutions posted there aren't working for me. In short: I have been experiencing random but frequent BSODs (16 and counting) with the message 'driver power state overload' being displayed.

In my quest for a solution I wanted to upgrade my drivers, when I noticed my Nvidia Geforce 650M graphics card seems to have disappeared. When I try to install the latest driver from Nvidia's website I get the error 'graphics driver could not find compatible graphics hardware'. Attempting to open the Nvidia control panel gives me the message 'An Nvidia graphics card was not detected on your system' and I cannot find the card listed in the device manager (only the intel HD graphics family is listed under display adapters)... To be clear: I'm quite sure my laptop SHOULD have this card, it's just not detecting it for some reason.

Since the symptoms of my problem are exactly the same as described in the topic linked above, I have tried to follow the solution described by Arc. Installed Driver Fusion, started in in safe mode and tried to delete Nvidia drivers - but nothing seemed to be listed here. I still clicked delete but not sure if this actually did something or not.

Hello Zephos.

As per the supplied data, this is the specification of your graphics.

Name Intel(R) HD Graphics 4000
PNP Device ID PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_0166&SUBSYS_21031043&REV_09\3&11583659&2&10
Adapter Type Intel(R) HD Graphics Family, Intel Corporation compatible
Adapter Description Intel(R) HD Graphics 4000
Adapter RAM (2.080.374.784) bytes
Installed Drivers igdumd64.dll,igd10umd64.dll,igd10umd64.dll,igdumd32,igd10umd32,igd10umd32
Driver Version
So, it says it is not nVidia. But as you are saying that it was Nvidia Geforce 650M, and it disappeared, the best option is to contract the vendor. I wish you are within warranty?
