Q: Wireless connection drops/no connectivity


I started some consulting work for a company that uses a wireless connection with 2 access points in their office (one on channel 6, the other on channel 11). They use a WPA-PSK key to secure the connection.

The problem is that with about 70% of the laptops that come preimaged from the parent company the following problem happens.
You try to connect to the wireless, enter the password, the authentication passes, an IP address is assigned, it appears connected, about 5 seconds later the connection is dropped, the computer tries to reconnect, it reconnects, then it drops and stops connecting.

I have tried the following things:
Disable all firewalls/antivirus
Reset the TCP/IP stack (using netsh int ip reset c:\resetlog.txt )
Reinstalled the drivers of the card
Tried different software besides the Windows Wireless Zero Configuration (like the software for that driver)
Winsock repair
The other two things I tried with some success is:
Connecting to another wireless connection - worked but only for unsecure
Reformatted Computer (or Repaired Windows installation) - worked for 4 of the 5 computers I tried.
Now the other 30% have a similar yet annoying issue. Everytime I connect to the wireless network I get a limited, no connectivity message. I tried the same kind of things I did above but nothing worked. I'm not sure what the problem is, with one computer i actually replaced the wireless card (only to get the issue that i was getting at the top). Reformatting worked once out of 3 times on this issue.

If anyone has any ideas please let me know (especially if there is a way to fix this with out reformatting).

The lenovos all have either one of these cards:
Intel Pro/Wireless 3945ABG

For about the last 2 weeks, I've been dealing with an issue where my AiO drops WiFi connectivity randomly. At this point i have to manually reconnect/associate with the router. I receive two errors in my log:

So far this is what i've done to troubleshoot.
1) Updated the driver
2) Unchecked the option in device manager to allow the computer to turn this device off to save power
3) Within power options, i've set wireless adapter settings >> power saving settings >> setting: maximum.
3) Configured a static address on this PC
4) Re-configured wireless security which was previously WEP encryption to WPA2 personal AES.
5) Rebooted the router.

I have 2 laptops, one running Vista Home Premium SP1 and the other running XP Pro. Both are connected wireless to the same home cable internet connection.
On the Vista laptop, internet connectivity dropouts have become so frequent that they make web browsing on the machine almost unbearable.

While the Vista machine has problems, the XP machine loses no connection, performing just fine. When I am not experiencing connectivity drops I get intermittant VERY SLOW page loads. I Get etiher "Connection to the Server was reset, Try again" messages or have to continually reclick the link to get it to connect.

The laptop has a Dell 1395 wireless WLAN mini card and it reports that it has the latest drivers.
I have disabled Bluetooth in case it was causing a conflict, I have turned off the lan card, set the wireless power settings to Maximum performance and disables some page scaling thing that vista does all to no improvement.

I am running PCcylinn Internet security 14 as well as MS Defender, have disabled both and again found no improvement.

We have had this laptop for about a year and these problems have become progressivly worse for the past 3 months or so. About 3 months ago Dell replaced the motherboard under warranty (my wife spilled a glass of wine on the laptop).To the best of my recollection these problems began AFTER the MB change, but I can not say that for sure.

Any help in diagnosing this and ultimately solving this would be most appreciated.

What about logging in to your wireless router on the vista machine? Does that seem slow as well? Have you tried transfering data between the two computers via a shared folder to test the connection without going on the web?

I would try going into the wireless router and double checking settings like mac filtering and playing with wep wpa on or off.

Another thing you could probably do and I would try this first is to change the frequency or "channel" of the routers broadcasting signal. Some routers you can change it from ex: channel 9 11 or 6. Some better routers have more options available.

Ill try and be breaf, i have a home security system (arlo) which depends on wifi to function. the cameras are wireless and require my network connection to work. so it dawned on me that my children can just unplug the internet if they want to sneak out (hopefully they haven't figured that out, but if i have they most likely have as well). i want a way or program i can use that will monitor the internet and alert me via email/txt or any other way, that my internet is down!
i apologize in advance if this is something already answered. i simply cannot find what i want. something basic, that just records or alerts me when my internet isnt working. 24/7

Tell the kids that your alarm company called because your wireless connection went down and they receive a message to this affect and they wanted to know if this was something they should dispatch the police to.  Explain that you don't know how the wifi went down, but if it does go down this will be the response in the future.
Years and years ago I was involved with alarm systems that were connected to a dialer which would call the alarm company when the alarm system was tripped.  When the phone lines were cut the company monitoring the alarm system would see this as the system being tripped and dispatch the police.  So I wouldn't be surprised if they have some means of monitoring you system from their end.  It may be worth calling then to find out what does happen when you wifi goes down.

Hoping someone can help.

I have a Sony Vaio laptop running Windows XP with a wireless connection to a broadband router.

Several weeks ago my laptop started dropping the internet connection randomly (I'm alos unabel to access email when this happens).

My wireless network icon in my toolbar shows the connection as 'Excellent' but for some reason both Internet and Email is not available. The only way to fix the problem has been to restart my laptop which is very frustrating.

I've noticed that this also happens randomly when I'm at home (using different wireless broadband modem) so I think the issue is my laptop not the 2 x routers/modems.

I'm running NOD32 for security as well (but have been for 4 years now with no problems till now).

Please help.

My Verizon wireless ( cellular air-card 4G hotspot ) modem / router ( jet pack 890l ) constantly times out or only partially loads pages while browsing the internet. Or I get an error that the "server not found" This had happened ever since I got a new PC with Windows 7. I have reset the modem, reseated the SIM card, checked for new soft ware and firmware (none at this time). I have updated my network adapter driver. Checked for a hidden Microsoft mini adapter, none there. Checked Microsoft's support forums for compatibility issues. Nothing has helped. What else can I do?

Hello everyone. I got MSI GP62-2QE laptop and have been using Windows 10 since I bought it without having a problem. But few days ago when I was playing an offline game my wi-fi connection dropped. I tried to connect back, and I actually succeed but it's keep dropping since then. When I lose the connection, it says that "not connected - no connection available", but actually there're tens of wireless networks and I can connect with my phone. I tried to connect to another wi-fi and it seems to does without getting any error or dropping, but it's the same network but just the different modem. And everyone can connect to this modem, and I was too untill few days ago. Then I always have to use Network troubleshooter but then I cannot find any wireless connection even my Wi-Fi is turned on. Sometimes I can but except my wi-fi, which is pretty odd. Even I can connect, it's super duper slow and unstable, even it's actually not. I've been downloading at 3mb/s but now not even 100kb/s and wi-fi signal is too low which it suppose to not. I configured Power and Sleep settings. Also "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" is unchecked. I've scanned my computer. I tried "sfc /scannow" and "dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth". I reset the modem. My wireless internet connection drops every couples minutes and ive tried everything I know to fix it and so far nothings worked. It is connected to a netgear router and there are a couple other computers connected to the router that are not experiencing any problems so ive ruled out that possibility. My pci card is also netgear and im running vista X86. when my connection drops the netgear smart wizard still shows a green light with great signal strength so i know to signal is not the issue. it is only the windows network [COLOR=blue ! important][COLOR=blue ! important]manager[/color][/color]

My wireless internet connection periodically drops using XP.

When I use the "repair wireless Network connection" option the laptop freezes and I have to power off and power up again which usually boots up with the wireless connection working again, until it drops again (could be a short time or a day or so).

No problem with other machines also running XP on the same wireless connection.

Your help would be much appreciated.

I have three identical Dell Inspiron 1505 notebooks connecting to our secure wireless home network via a Linksys WRT54G router. Each notebook make use of the Dell 1390 wireless card and each is managed by the software supplied by Linksys. Each are set up identically. I have updated all of the software and drivers I can think of using Dell's online support and have the XP operating system as up to date as I can make it. Two work flawlessly but one keeps dropping the wireless signal. All I can think is that the wireless card in the troubled unit is defective. Is there something else I should consider first? How do I diagnose whether a wireless card is working properly? What information do I need to supply to help you help me?

I recently bought a new router which is supposed to be far better then my previous one I had, which was Netgear. I purchased the Linksys WRT160N Ultra RangePlus Wireless-N Broadband Router. Currently, dispite the modem and router box not going out or changing at all, my connection drops, and will throughtout the day at random times. Sometimes the connection on my laptop still says "local and internet" and sometimes it says "local only" either way I have between 3-5 bars. Dispite the distance between my laptop and the router I have always over the past 6 years have had good reliable connection, but this new router is giving me problems and im unsure why. Either way my internet never complelty goes out, but I lose connection from my laptop and/or PS3 or any other device trying to connection from it. Normally I must go downstairs and reboot both the router and modem to fix it. I restore it by unplugging the power on both, then letting the modem reboot fully, followed by the router in that order. Then everything is fine until the next unexpected wireless dropping. I just recently bought a brand new HP laptop, Pavilion dv7 running 64 bit Windows home premium. I hope iv given enough information to get a fix for this. Thanks.

Everytime I setup an FTP server, the people who connect get kicked and my wireless connection drops soon after and I'm not sure why. I have the same problem with connection drops when I am downloading large files, my connection will disconnect and then after a split second it will connect again, anyone have any ideas why?

I have two computers and a wiresless network that both computers were working well with for nine months. The desktop uses XP the lap top Vista.
Two days ago the XP dropped the wiresless connection. Upon investigation the message in the Wireless Network Connection window stated, " No wireless networks were found in range." Clicking on Refresh Network List gives the same message. Troubleshooting sends you to the systems adminsistrator, which is me and I don't know how to correct the problem.
I was able to boot up my Vista lap top beside the XP desktop and had no problem connecting to the wireless. I use a d-Link router and I am not able to find the XP desktop on the network.

We are three flatmates with our own laptop each, all connected wirelessly to the internet through a Netgear broadband modem / router. The three computers are not networked to each other (although my one flatmate has mentioned that he gets a warning message that my computer is trying to access his whenever I go online -- but that's a different question).

Lately we have all three had problems with Internet Explorer "crashing" -- as if dropping the connection to the internet. The actual connection remains active, but after idling for a while on a website and then clicking on a link to browse further, IE displays "cannot find page". The only solution then seems to be to close all open IE windows and relaunching. This is more of an annoyance than anything else.

Has anyone else come across this or does anyone have any ideas / advice?

i have a Netgear WG311v3 PCI card for my desktop computer running windows XP.

My wireless connection seems to drop out after a period of inactivity usually around 5min.

When i check the netgear smart wizard it shows Connected to router (when internet not working) and Connected to Internet (when working). The only way i can change that is to repair or restart the wireless connection.

I have searched the internet with no luck can any one help or should i get a new wireless card.

Al the other computers in the house are working with no problems

My Dell Inspiron 9300 laptop accesses the internet via a Linksys WRT160Nv2 router. My wireless connection drops out all the time (the hard wired computer never loses its connection ). I believe it happens when a neighbor or neighbor try to access their wireless connection.

I want to configure my laptop and router so that I don't have drop outs.

I am running a desktop system with XP (SP2) as an OS. I use Avast anti virus, Sunbelt Kerio Firewall and Spybot search and destroy.

I connect to the internet via a belkin router / modem combination. (A Belkin ADSL2 + Modem with Wireless G router). I am hard wired to this.

My house mate also connects to the internet using this router. He connects wirelessly. He finds that he is able to connect for about 20 minutes to (sometimes) an hour and then the connection fails. He currently puts this down to over heating. He tries a reboot - this occasionally works, but not always. Otherwise it is a case of turning the laptop off and leaving it for several hours. Obviously this is not the best solution.

We do not use the network for file sharing / gaming. It is only to provide us both with internet access.

Any thoughts or directions to posts that have a similar theme would be a great help.

I recently bought a new HP Pavilion dv6 Notebook PC and have been experiencing problems when connecting to my personal wireless network. It seems that whenever I'm downloading anything or using the connection extensively I'll lose internet connection and the wireless icon in the bottom right hand corner of the screen will show an orange star to indicate that connections are available. However if I go to available networks I can immediately reconnect to the network I was on.

I have other notebooks that run on XP that do not have this issue and use the connection without a problem. Also when I connect my notebook directly to my belkin router via Ethernet cable the connection has issues.

I'm running my computer on Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit and my Wireless adapter is an Atheros AR9285 802.11b/g/n Wifi adapter which appears to have up to date drivers.

I'm using an Acer Aspire one netbook, with a wireless connection. I get the same issue, having to manually reconnect the connection. I typically have 4 out of 5 bars, and have tried to refresh while watching my connection monitors. No matter what, it seems I have to close down IE and restart it. I have yet to get the same issue with my other web browsers, but I do not use them too often. I'm assuming it's related to microsofts wireless connection systems, either in the browser or the O.S. I will try to scour throught the forum for more related threads and post you the links. Somehow I will get this thing figured out. Does this happen to you while your in your browser only? If so, what browser are you using?

hey there, i found a couple threads that put me in the right direction, but they still havent fixed my problem. my wireless internet drops every few minutes, and it is really start to bug me.

i have DLink DI 524 router and a NETGEAR WG311T wireless network card.

they have worked together for so long... years, and just recently they have started to have issues with each other.

i have updated both windows and the netgear adapter. but the connection still seems to drop. i have no other wireless networks nearby, and the cordless phones we have, have been around for a long time while this wireless network was working perfectly fine. i did disable the SSID, but that didnt seem to help.

I am truely going into unknown territory with networking, so any help is appreciated!

I recently purchased an iMAC Maverick OS v10.9.4 which I have integrated within my office network. The network is a simple Printer/iMAC/Win 7 Desktop PC and an iTOUCH device
Until recently everything has been fine, but now the MAC fails to connect to the broadband server and so does the Win 7 PC.

The PC came up with a message that there was an IP conflict and Google said set up another one using the Command Line
Now, that is where I don't go without someone holding my hand.

I can restore the connection with either machine by resetting wireless hub, but it will no longer run with both machines on line.

In restating the server I must say it seems rather hot.
Can you help please.

Is either (or both) computer using a static IP?

If either computer is using dynamic addressing where is the Dhcp server (a router, the "broadband server", the "wireless hub". ...)?

So i currently have a MSI GT80 Titan running killer wireless 1525 network adapter and am constantly seeing network drops to the point where i get an exclamation mark over my wireless icon and no activity. Connection shows connected but no speed, only until i manually disconnect and reconnect. This has been happening since earlier this week after having the laptop off for a couple days and i'm sure some updates came in from Microsoft.

Steps I've taken already to resolve this:

1. Uninstalled killer wireless software suite and installed stand alone killer driver
2. Refreshed the PC with clean windows 10 install
3. All drivers are up to date including BIOS
4. Ran ccleaner along with registry side of it
5. Memtest shows no errors
6. Hard drives show no errors
7. Connected to LAN and no drops all day

I'm not sure what else to check as this is a fairly new laptop bought back in march and doing some searching on google showed some posts about people with the same issues (different laptops/hardware) thinking it was related to Windows 10.

This has me thinking a recent update is causing it..

any other things i can try please?

Yes, it's yet another "My Wireless Won't Work Right" thread! Your help would be greatly appreciated!

I recently moved to a new house, and set up one PC downstairs, with a Linksys WRT54G Wireless Router. PC#1 is hardwired to the router, no problems there. PC#2 (with a Linksys WMP54G card) is upstairs, one floor up and probably 20 feet over. Both PCs are above ground (nothing in the basement).

Initially, PC#2 was connecting pretty well. Generally I'd hit 54 Mbps and "very good" signal quality. But, it was spotty. While the connection wouldn't drop entirely, it would frequently drop enough to disrupt my FTPing of large files across the internet. I had my suspicions about the card, which had been jostled a lot and didn't seem to have a great connection between the antenna and card itself.

So, I replaced the whole setup with a brand-spanking new WRT54GS router and a WMP54GS card. Unfortunately, things have gone from bad to worse. It took me 3 hours on Support Chat with Linksys to even get any kind of a connection from PC#2, and now it just dies completely for huge chunks of time. I'll be online with a 54 Mbps connection, Very Good signal strength, then BOOM, couldn't find a network. Then 30 minutes later, it will miraculously find it again. If I understood correctly, your laptop experience pretty much proves that you are getting a constant good strong signal to the location of the problem computer. If so, don't mess with router's antenna.

Go to the Linksys web site and make sure you have the latest driver and utility for the adaptor.

Move the computer around a little. Maybe the fan or power supply or something is in the direct path of the signal.

Are you managing the connection with the Linksys utility or with Windows' Wireless Zero Configuration? Try the other one.

Are you using encryption? If so, WEP or WPA?

I can't make any sense of this and couldn't find any resources to help..... I've updated my intel pro wireless driver as part of an XP sp2 reinstall and now the laptop will not remain connected to the wireless network.... wired is no problem for the laptop but wireless keeps dropping and connecting in quick succession...repeatedly until finally it disconnects.

We have a total of 4 computers in the house 3 of which, 2 laptops (toshiba sattelite and Dell Inspiron) and a desktop, work perfectly while connected to the wireless network or wired.....

My Environment:
Panasonic Toughbook (laptop) cd-50 running XP SP2 with the latest updates (except sp3)

What kind of house are you in, how far apart are the laptops in relation to the access point? Distance to and construction material used in the walls between the wifi card and access point play an important roll in how good of a signal you can get.

Have you upgraded the firmware on your Belkin?

I have recently installed windows 7 and am frustrated with the Wireless connection drop outs . i have run the troubleshooting wizard and it fixed the problem some times. I am attaching the diagnostic log for ur information.

I am using Planex Wireless adapter and a Buffalo Nfinity wireless n-router and connecting to Tenkayala_G access point. I have no issues what so ever with Windows xp and vista.

Any help is highly appreciated.

Ok so I am useing a desktop computer and have the router downstairs so I am useing a wireless usb to connect to the internet. My router is a Linksys E1000 and the wireless adapter is a Netgear WG111v2. The problem is Every few mins I drop connection for may 5-30 secs and then the internet is fine. During that time it does not say I only have local connection or anything like that it constantly says I have internet connection even when I dont. It is very noticable when i am playing an online game on my computer. I will get a few mins in and then it will drop kicking me out of the game and by the time I get kicked out my Internet is reconnected and I can join again. It is a very annoying problem. I set my channel to 1 as it seems to be the least used when I ran Xfire. What could be the other problems? Also I took my computer downstairs to test it out and hooked it right up to the router and I ran into no problems with my connection so it must have something to do with wireless

Yes, I know you are probably sick of n00b's like me posting this question ( ) but I have to before I go completely insane

Here's the problem:

I & a house mate have upgraded to 10mb broadband (paid between us) and have decided to opt for a wireless connection (as a cheap option) to connect both PC's to the same connection.
Foolishly (possibly) we have opted for a cheap Belkin router and network adapters.

Now the PC that is connected directly to the router (a 3ghz, Win XP pro PC) connects just fine. My PC is on another floor of the house (Win XP home, 2.8ghz) Now I am at all times getting an Excellent net connection (5 bars of strength) - yet have limited net connectivity.
The connection keeps dropping at certain points - there is a pattern. EG.
It will only kick me when receiving a file over MSN, downloading a file from a remote location (such as a software update from a website) or even when loading certain graphic on web boards (usually emoticons) - and other similar things.

Now I have tried just about everything suggested to me (turning off fire walls ect) in fact I switched off every damn fire wall from my own Zone alarm to the windows one on both PC's and the built in router fire wall - still the same prob (I have since turned the firewalls back on) A call to the belkin tech support line had me waiting in a queue for 30 mins, only to spend 5 mins banging my head against a wall with a guy from god knows where (they have a thing for foreign ... In our apartment we have 4 computers hooked into a netgear router, 1 wired, 3 wireless. The computers that are connected wirelessly seem to consistently lose the connection to the router, sometimes all at the same time, and other times it just seems like one or two of them lose the connection. The connection is reestablished quickly, usually within 30-40 seconds, but it's still an annoyance when surfing, and a huge problem when someone is gaming or transferring data. I was wondering if anyone had an suggestions. Thanks.

We have three computers using a home wireless network, and all work relatively well. I just added a fourth - a Dell 5100C with an upgraded VGA card connected to a TV. This machine had gotten a lot of use but was on a shelf for a while. Now, however, it locates the home network only manually and maintains a connection or a matter of seconds. I have 2 PCs (HP desktop and Dell laptop), both running Win XP Pro. I'm using a Linksys WRT54G router. The HP is using a Linksys wireless PCI modem and works like a charm.

The Dell has a USB WUSB54GSC adapter and does not work like a charm. I was using a Linksys PCMCIA wireless card but it gave me the same kinds of problems. But it was older and no new drivers available to make it work better with the router, so I bought the new USB adapter.

I searched through the threads but didn't find anything that matched my situation. Once I'm connected to the router things work fine. But over time I see the connection strength fluctuate from 54Mbps to as low as 24Mbps. The machine is about 50' from the router, but there is a long hallway that takes a couple of turns. Eventually I lose connection altogether. It doesn't always happen when the signal strength is low, although that is the more common scenario. Once the connection is lost it will not reconnect unless I reboot. However, in the process of rebooting I will get a error message related to a RUN32.DLL file. Once I acknowledge the error the system hangs. I have to manually power off and then power on. The system reboots fine and runs well until at some point I lose the connection again.

My laptop is an Intel Pentium Inside, made by Toshiba.

From what I can tell, my laptop is the only one in the house that seems to have issues with its wireless connectivity. At any given point in time, it will just seem to have issues staying connected, drop the connection for a few moments, and then restore it a few seconds later.

Now, while this doesn't interfere with internet usage very often, this does mean that Instant Messengers and things such as chatrooms are frequently exited out of for me, which has grown to be very annoying.

Every time I move my laptop from one room to another or shut down the computer and start it back up, it drops the connection. Recently, it has even started randomly dropping the connection throughout the day.

I'm at wit's end, and I have no idea what to do. Can anyone help me with this?

i am having a lot of issues with my wireless connection being dropped...we're talking every few minutes now...i am working with my service provider...but man...it is taking a long time...they've done all types of trouble shooting..changing channels on my router...lowering my security key...lastly...they were blaming my cordless phone..well that's been resolved as well...it's not the issue (we unplugged it) signal still dropped...
nothing changed around here either...that would affect...as they suggested...ie to far from router.., router near other equipment..other computer being used (it just collects dust) .etc....r we missing something...the last thing they are trying is ..sending me a modem...they say i shouldn't be on a router cause i am "light speed" ... is this going to fix my issue you think.....? just seems weird that it was fine before (had it for almost two yrs, both router and laptop...issue only began about 2 months ago...first slowly...then more frequently...and now i can expect it every few minutes....sorry..just don't have faith in my service provider anymore...tech support really bites..seems they all contradict one another..and (no offense to anyone) but hardly speak any english ...and i have the worse time with accents....frustrating...dread calling there!!

it appears that there is wireless network card bug
I thought it was my internet service provider
they sent a new wireless modem
but I still having an internet connection drop
and the speed is not up to the advertised, in fact it s barely half

I need help, the connection to my wireless network drops every half hour or so for about 20 secs or so consistantly. My router/cable modem is a Linksys WCG200 and the adapter i'm using on my PC is the Microsoft MN-510 USB adapter. The MN-510 is a 802.11b and the router is a 802.11g/b.

My question is, are there any tools that i can use to troubleshoot my problem? This problem doesnt seem to happen on my powerbook. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

I have an Acer 5532 laptop Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit. Out of the blue about two weeks ago wireless connectivity started dropping. My wireless bar shows connectivity and full bars. I right click troubleshoot, run it and it resets my wireless connectivity and I'm good to go until the next episode. Sometimes I will be on for an hour with no wireless problem and sometimes I am running troubleshoot every 5-10 minutes. I have searched for solutions but cannot find anything that works. Any help would be appreciated. I have an Atheros AR5B93 Wireless network Adapter and have checked for updated drivers and it tells me I am running the latest driver.

You might also want to contact your ISP to see if they can check your line speed and suchlike in case they are having problems at their end.

I have the same if not similar problem, my internet works fine when i am using the WWW or downloading stuff, but If I open up a game say FEAR or Company of Heroes it disconnects me from the internet.

I made the firewall make an exception for CoH assuming it would help, but some online games like Counter strike or old HL1 games it stays on all the time.

Anyone able to assist us?

16-month-old Y50-70 Laptop running Win8.1 has recently started dropping wireless connection after being used for 3 or 4 hours (& getting hot maybe?).  Have tried a new xfinity Gateway modem, a new Rosewill AC750RT Dual Band router, and a TP-Link AV200 Wireless Adapter which have helped a little.  I use a cooling fan in the stand the laptop sits on.  So would it be the fan in the laptop itself dying already (even tho it's only a little over a yr old)?  Or could the internal fan just be dirty & is it possible to clean it?  Thanks for any advice.

Whenever I connect a device to either of my USB 3.0 ports my internet connection drops out immediately. My Netgear WNDA3100v2 wireless dongle is connected to a USB 2.0 socket on the back panel of the mobo.

The reason I am posting this here is that I had this same problem with a previous Gigabyte mobo, so I don't think it is a mobo issue, and Netgear support is non existent. The other common denominator is my Windows 7 version.

Any other ideas why my connection drops out please?

One thing that hits me is that my card has a plug for additional power. I have mine hooked up. Does yours have a molex plug and is it hooked up?

Hi. I have had my Laptop for about 2 years now. My laptop just recently began constantly droping my internet connection. I get no notifications from my laptop when it ocurrs. The Wireless icon says I am still connected and with no issues. But what ever I am doing states I've lost connection. It seems to continue having no wireless for a few seconds, then instantly does back to normal. I have brought up the task manager and watched the wireless performance and it seems to stop sending and recieving data when this occurs.   My network adaptor is a:Qualcomm Atheros AR9485 802.11b/g/n WiFi Adapter I have made sure to turn off the power saving mode on it, and i've trouble shooted it multiple times. The trouble shooter just resets it and states the problem is fixed, even though it still occurs. I have dried deinstalling and reinstalling multiple times, updating it, rerolling it, downloading the latest drivers from HP, etc. Nothing seems to be working.  Any help would be appreciated

So I decided to upgrade to window 7 build 7232 to check it out. Everything installed great but now I'm having several problems one of which being the wireless disconnects periodically ;loses complete wireless capability. In other words it can not find any of my wireless access points. I know it's not a router issue because all my other pc's are working great. I have two linksys routers one with tomato and one with ddwrt firmware.
It has to be a W7 problem but I can not recreate the error.
Usually happens when I'm watching a movie over the network with a mapped drive however it's also happens when I'm browsing online.
Has there been any registery commands or specific services that are causing problems like this?

No reg cause that I know of but IP-6 sometimes does cause intermittant dropout. Might want to give us more info on comp and networking

i have a linksys wusb600n wireless adaptor. it works fine until the computer wakes up after sleeping, it does not recogonize the adaptor. i disconnet the adaptor and then reconnect it and it then works fine. any ideas? thanks

Go to the device manager and find the USB entry for your wireless adapter. Make sure to disable the option that allows Windows to turn off the device to conserve power.

I have a Zepto 6615WD with a 3645 Wireless card and a Siemens SE361. It's works alright, but when I download larger files it always drops connection almost immediately.

I've tried several things and none of them worked I've disabled SSID, no encryption at all and no 802.1x authentication, no firewall, I've tried all channels, the router is new so the firmware should be alright, I've updated the wireless card drivers.

I have no wireless phones, the microwave is in another room and there are no walls between the router and the computer. The distance is about 2-3 meters and the signal strenght is excellent. It doesn't seem to drop the connection while just surfing, just when I download large files, then it drops immediately. There's about two other connections availible in my vacinity and I can't think of anything else that disturbs it. It shouldn't be a disturbance since it just happens when downloading big packages.

I run Vista x64 and I previously had another router that worked just fine, but was about 300% slower than wired connection.

Hi i have an acer aspire V5-473G with Atheros ar5bwb222 wireless network installed in device manager but it always drops internet connection which is kinda bad for me because i use my laptop for gaming. I always get disconnected or high ping spikes while playing. My question is can i uninstall this and install the other network driver which is in the listed wireless driver of my laptop in acer site , like broadcom or intel wireless drivers.
