Acer Swift 3 USB Type C Charging

Q: Acer Swift 3 USB Type C Charging

Just bought a Swift 3 from Amazon (SF314-51-52W2) and according to some people in the reviews the laptop can be charged with the Type C connector. If that is indeed the case what charger do I get for it? I assume my Note 7 charger would be slow as snot with a laptop sized battery. Do I get a pixel chagrger? Would want one with a detabable wire, the pixel charger is hard wired.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello everyone,

I've encountered a serious issue with my Acer Swift 3 laptop and I'm really hoping someone can help. I believe it is software related but I can't yet rule out hardware either- I hope I'm posting in the right place.

The Problem:
Last night, in a tired state, I unplugged my Acer Swift 3 laptop during the shutdown sequence. I don't believe this should cause an issue but I usually don't do it as I prefer to wait until the machine is off. Anyway, the laptop was fully charged by this point. The moment I pulled the cable the system shut off (any difference from the normal completion of the shutdown sequence was almost imperceptible but nonetheless alarm bells rang).

I tried to turn my laptop back on but nothing happened. I followed up by plugging it back in and trying again. Whilst plugged in the laptop booted up fine but Windows presented a "Windows didn't shut down properly" alert and I instructed it to load into Windows proper. Once I reached Windows 10 the system behaved abnormally in two ways:

1. The battery icon in the task bar seemed...confused. It presented as empty for one moment, then full.

2. The system seemed to shut down after a few seconds (around a minute, roughly). I say "seemed" because it's plausible that it is going into some sort of low power mode- either way it goes through the normal booting process when I press the power button again (only to once again shut down a short time late... My original 45W slim connector charger failed and I decided I wanted to try charging with the Type-C port, which was on option when I originally configured the laptop. I purchased a Karstcave wall charger which claims to be able to charge 61W using all the following protocols PD3.0 / PD2.0 / QC 3.0 / QC 2.0 / FCP / PE2.0 / BC1.2. However when I plug it in to the type C port, I get an error that the power delivery of the charger is insufficient for the laptop (It was only consuming 8W at the time). This is silly since techically this charger is more powerful than the previous one I had. The battery indicator also showed that neither battery was being charged. The charger is listed for PD delivery at: 5V/3A, 7V/3A, 9V/3A, 12V/3A, 15V/3A, 20.3V/3AWhat is going wrong in this setup? Is there somewhere I can enable type-C charging? I can't even find a way to know what power level the charger negotiated with the laptop. Does the T470 follow a particular protocol or is it proprietary?

Hello,

recently bought a T470s, very happy with it so far. Tried out USB Type-C charging from my powerbank and it doesn't react. Is it the cable, the power bank or is it possible to charge through powerbank at all?

Powerbank 10000 mAh, 3.6 V, 36 Wh
Input 5.0 V/2.0 A
Output 5.1 V/2.1 A

Cable - random 2$ Male USB 2.0 - Male Type-C adapter

PS. If it's not possible to charge via powerbank, why would you give it a type-C port at all... Nobody is ever gonna use it for type-C AC power adapter, cause the port is on the right hand side... *palmface*

A:T470s USB Type-C charging via powerbank?

USB-C supports many voltages and there is a protocol for the power supply and the device to negotiate the requirements.  You have a laptop that needs 20V and a power bank that only outputs 5 volts.  If you look at your charger that came with your laptop, it can output 5V for your phone or 20V for your laptop.  (also 9V and 15V)  You need a better or smarter powerbank

Hi! I have a YOGA 720-13IKB (8th gen i7, Portuguese model) for about two weeks, so I'm still testing the machine.Yesterday I tried to AC charge it through USB 3.1 Type-C port (#3 in this picture from user manual, since it's a PowerDelivery port and can be used as a AC power adaptar jack, according to this. The thing is... As soon as I plugged the AC, battery status indicator started quickly blinking in amber (3x blinks). I left it for about 15-20min and it was still quickly blinking (the computer was turned off). According to this table, there's no status "Blinking quickly (amber)" while Charging, so I have no idea what it means. In any case, I believe it was charging the battery, because I left it with around 5% of charge before turning it off, and after those 15-20min it had more than 20% (it was slowly blinking white when I plugged the AC on the "normal" port, #1 in the first picture). So... My question is: Is this normal behaviour? Does the quickly blinking amber mean something bad? Quickly blinking usually isn't good, specially in amber, haha. Thanks & cheers! felgy

Hi there,  I have recently acquired an T440 [Type 20b6] and everything was working fine until I upgraded to Windows 10 Pro (Three days ago). I initially had some issues which I resolved, however I am unable to resolve the issue with "Battery 1" not charging. It is staying at "0% and not charging". I have tried the following; - Upgrading the Lenovo Power Management  driver to 1.67.13.12 - Removal of the "Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery" driver- Removing the battery and charging it in a Windows 7 machine (works fine) - BIOS/UEFI upgrade to GJET92WW 2.42- Removing the external battery and charging "Battery 1" on its own using Windows 10- I know the hardware is fine because it was charging under Windows 7 I'll appreciate any tips on how I can resolve this issue,  Thanks, XX00A1

The Spectre x2 12 detachable is capable of charging through the two Type-C USB ports. The HP Type-C USB adapter charges using these two ports. However, no third party Type-C USB chargers (even with Power Delivery specifications) will charge this device. Meaning, there is no benefit to charging via Type-C since this device can only use the HP adapter charger. Another HP device that charges via Type-C USB, the Spectre 13.3 (HP Spectre 13-v151nr), received a BIOS update (F.26 Rev.A; sp77130.exe) in August that allows charging through third party Type C-USB chargers like Google and Apple chargers (see below in yellow;"- Expands support for the USB Type-C adaptor."). I am requesting a similar Type-C charging adapter BIOS update for the HP Spectre x2 - 12-a008nr, to remove the limitation described above. Not allowing to be charged through Type C chargers manufactured by Google and Apple is absurd. If you would please,  use the Power Delivery specifications that these reputable vendors use, and that you also used for the 13.3, and allow this device to truly be fantastic. Thank you! Below is the notes from the BIOS update for the 13.3:Fixes - Fixes an issue where certain keys generate the incorrect character when the keyboard on the system is used.- Fixes an issue where certain keys do not generate a character when the keyboard on the system is used.- Expands support for the USB Type-C adaptor.- Provides enhanced BIOS password security.- Provides enhance... I have an acer aspire 5315 that won't charge, I had problems with the charging adapter before so I thought that was the problem and replaced it, the replacement worked for a while but I had to rotate the connector in the place it went in the laptop until a connection was found, and now I can't even do that, my laptop just won't charge and I can't even turn it on now because the battery is drained.

HELP PLEASE! I'm broke and urgently need my laptop back to work.

PS-The battery itself is fine.
As for the cable, like I said I have a new one and the only way for it to charge is by bending it into a certain direction untill a charging connection is found but now not even that works.
And I live in Portugal (Europe) not the USA, so please don't suggest stores there to fix it as people have before ^^'

A blinking battery light almost always means the battery is telling the PC it has failed. They're intelligent devices, these days, and there is a communications channel. You need to try a new battery.

A:acer chromebook 13 charging problem

Nope, no recall on them. Remember that when you see a 'lot of people' complaining about something it likely just means that most people don't have anything to complain about and so they stay quiet.  The most common charging problem seems to be a poor connection between the charger and the computer. Check to make sure the center post of the socket on your Chromebook hasn't been pushed in. Verify (if you can) that the charger worked fine on another system. Last step would be to check out the internal connection, it's not unknown on laptops for the charging board to be disconnected from the motherboard. If none of those help you might have a battery issue. You mention it's a new unit, but out of warranty, is there any chance it's been sitting with a discharged battery for a significant period of time? The batteries in these things really don't like being discharged past a threshhold...

hey guys, i am really desperate right now and i need some quick help.

a few days ago i ordered a laptop which arrived on friday and then i started to set it up with windows 10 and some software.

i immediately realized that the laptop is not charging.

in the windows taskbar, when i click on the battery logo, it says "0%, not charging"

i know that there is some threshold that the laptop only starts to charge when it's below a set value, normalle ~50%.

but the laptop is not charging at all, it's stuck at 0% and when i plug out the charging cable it turns off.

i also checked the battery with a program to see if it's broken, but the wear value is only at 2%, so that should be fine.

any help is appreciated!

First off seeing as it's a new laptop, can you not simply return it and get a replacement?

Second, as for the battery its either a bad battery or bad charger.

Was that charger original? If not, you'd better make sure it's the one that powerful enough. Gaming laptop usually need more power than others. If your charger could not provide enough power, it will slow your performance. I think that you need a new battery for the computer or you need to buy a new original charger.

Hey everyone, I have had my Aspire E1-571G for about 2 years now.Specs:i5 3230M12GB RAM (1x4GB) (1x8GB) - 1333MHz (upgraded from original 4GB RAM)WD 500 GB HDD (5400RPM)Windows 7 Ultimate x64 It's started to develop an issue while charging, every time I plug it in, it does its normal beep and the charging light turns on and the icon shows that the laptop is charging. After about 30 seconds, it goes beep again, telling me that the charger has been unplugged (which it hasn't), it stops charging, the charging light and the light on the power begin blinking and the laptop stops charging. Before the issue wasn't this annoying, I had to plug the charger in at a certain angle and it would charge fine. That doesn't work anymore. It just stops charging after 30 seconds of me plugging the charger in. I ordered a new battery after reading somewhere that it is a battery related issue. New battery and old battery show the same results.  What could be causing the problem here? I did a fresh install of Win7, deleted the battery drivers from Device Manager, rebooted so they'd re-install. Nothing worked.  Any replies would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks.

Hi, An hour ago, my computer randomly shut down while I was using it. At that time, it was connected to the AC adapter and I had just plugged in a USB Hub that also had an external power source. When it shut down, I noted that the indicators for power and charge were both switched off, in spite of the AC adapter being powered on. Moreover, I wasn't able to boot the laptop, despite the battery being at 100%. I tried unplugging the AC adapter and waiting for some time for any stray charges to dissipate, and also held the power button for 30 seconds while the AC adapter was unplugged. I even tried a spare AC adapter to no avail, and found that my adapter was able to charge another Acer laptop.I tried searching for a "Reset" button on the body of the laptop, given that this model has a non-removable battery. However, I wasn't able to find one.If this laptop had a removable battery, I would have been able to fix it by now. However, I don't want to remove the back plate of my laptop and risk losing my warranty. It would be much appreciated if someone knew how to fix this without touching the battery, through the reset button or an alternate mechanism.

I've had my c720 for a little over 2 years now and an issue just started recently that whenever the chromebook dies and I put it on the charger it doesn't want to turn back on. It used to be i could let it sit(even though the charging LED wasn't on) for a few minutes, open it back up and it would be charging. Now it's been to where i let it sit for a whole day, no charging LED indicator was on. It wouldn't turn on, but when i looked at it the next day the charging LED was on. Opened it up it was fully charged. It's been progressively getting worse every time it dies. I have taken to not letting it die anymore and haven't had anything else happen with it so far. What could be causing this issue? I haven't ruled out the charger yet because it still charges just the device itself not indicating it's being charged or turning on until fully charged. I know it's out of warranty, but around what price range am I looking in repair costs? I love my chromebook and don't want to have to get another or loose my info ):

The battery won't charge unless the plugged in cable is held at an angle. This started after the warranty had expired. I already purchased a new charger and it didn't solve the problem.

For last 1 week my Acer ES1-511-C1UU is not charging and start blinking the orange LED. I've followed the previous discussions and tried to do all the things. But even after reset the battery, open and check all the connections by voltmeter (including the charging port, battery connection in the motherboard & adapter). Now the problem is the adapter is showing a voltage of 19.19 volts (which seems the adapter is ok), but the battery connector in the motherboard is showing only 3 - 4 volts. Now kindly suggest me how to get rid of this problem.  I am from Bangladesh and here we don't have any Acer distributor to support me on this issue.  Waiting for prompt support please.
