Q: Problems with User Accounts(Getting internet explorer script error messages)etc

Okay, now first ill go ahead and say that the problem im having right now ive tried to solve with dell and have called them too many times about issues with this computer. Now ive run into problems with Getting into User Accounts from the control panel and using system restore. Everytime i try to get into user accounts, it says User Accounts on the top of the box but the box itself is white. Furthermore, it then pops up with a bunch of dialogs saying an internet explorer script error has occured. Then, also recently, i was trying to get into system restore to create a restore point because i was about to make a slight modification to the registry..when i tried to get into it, it also popped up in jus a white box with nothing on it. This happens in both Normal Mode and Safe Mode. The only account that dosen't experience problems is my aunts account, whos the owner of the computer, an im not sure why that is. But anyway, do u have any idea of what i should try to do to fix this issue?(An my computer is a Dell XPS 400 with Windows XP Media Center 2005 Service Pack 2 installed)

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: Problems with User Accounts(Getting internet explorer script error messages)etc

You can try dial-a-fix. Its magical for this kind of problems. Dial-a-fix will put many of your registry entries to Windows default state. You need admin rights for it.

http://wiki.djlizard.net/Dial-a-fix

Read carefully first, then download and run it ONLY if you understand clearly what would it do and if you can take all the previous actions suggested.

Good luck!

Hi,

I just got a second hand computer from an auction, and have installed windows XP home edition and the service pack 2. my father accidentally included 4 user login profiles (the ones that appear when you first turn the computer on) instead of just the 1 for me, so I tried to delete the others. However, when i go to control panel and user accounts, i get a message saying "an error has occurred in the script on this page" and "do you want to continue running scripts on this page?" with a "Yes" and a "No" box underneath. no matter how many times i click on either the yes or no boxes, the message won't go away, and so i cant access my user accounts, and the only way to get rid of the box is to log out or shut down.

Can you please help me get rid of this???

Many thanks,
Michael

I am getting Script error messages popping up when I try to use Internet Explorer 8 as a browser - not every time I open IE8, but on a fairly regular basis.

This is the script error message that appears;

First problem I have is that I'm never sure whether or not to continue running the script, or stop it all together?

Secondly, is there anything I can do to fix whatever problem there is to stop this pesky message from happening?

Thirdly, I haven't a clue what 'scripts' are about, and no understanding of their functions or dirty habits.

Fourthly, I fired up the URL and got rubbish, but it does [well to me anyway] seem to suggest a bug with the Google Toolbar I have as an add-on with IE8.

Cheers, The Sepoys

Ok so here is the problem..I am brand new to this website and don't know too much about computers and fixing them, but I will try my best to explain this problem as clearly as possible. I am using windows XP Home edition. For the past few weeks, whenever I log into a user account, a bunch of error messages pop up right away. They say, "The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000022) Click on OK to terminate the application."The first one that pops up says ccApp.exe, then the 2nd one says osCheck.exe and the third one says PIFSvc.exe. When I click on the AOL icon, I am unable to use it because another error pops us that says aol.exe with the same error message as the ones before. The same also happens when I click on the icon for Norton Internet Security and it says uistub.exe. I am unable to use any of these programs. I am aware that uistub.exe , PIFSvc.exe , ccApp.exe , and osCheck.exe are all related to Symantec and Norton but I have no idea how to fix these problems and stop these error messages from popping up. I temporarily fixed the AOL error message by searching for aol.exe on my computer and sending the icon to my desktop to create another shortcut. When I click on that icon, aol loads and works fine. However, I am unable to delete the old AOL icon and the error messages still pop up for the old icon and won't allow AOL to load. I know many of you will tell me to get rid of Norton completely, but I am afraid I won't do that right now, ... Read more

Yep, I'll tell you to get rid of Norton also BUT it's your choice if you go back to it or not. I believe that your Norton is corrupted and needs to be replaced or fixed. It's your choice - either waste the money on the subscription or waste your time fixing problems like this. We can recommend good, free replacements for the security apps that you're currently using.First, I would uninstall all of the Norton/Symantec stuff on the system using the Add/Remove Programs applet in Control Panel. Then, I would run the Norton Removal Tool (free from here: http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/tsgen...005033108162039 ) This is essential to remove all traces of what's likely to be causing the problem. Then you can either reinstall the Norton or you can install the free apps that we recommend. Here's my list of recommended free programs:AntiVirus: http://free.grisoft.com/doc/28415/lng/us/tpl/v5AntiSpyare: http://free.grisoft.com/doc/20/lng/us/tpl/v5Firewall: http://www.majorgeeks.com/Sygate_Personal_...Free_d3356.html

I have three user accounts on my home computer running on XP, my wives, my nieces, and mine. Well last week, my computer got seriously infected with a horrible piece of spyware put out by Ezula, which took me forever to get rid of (and I'm not sure its completely gone). In the process, I was in all sorts of areas of the computer, including my Zone Alarm blocked sites, and the Windows Registry. Well after I did that, which was within my wives user account on XP, my niece and I can no longer access the internet via our user accounts, but my wife can. Any suggestions? I have a cable internet connection, and I have searched within all the routine XP/IE internet setup areas for connectivity, and they are all the same on each user account. One last thing, while attempting to do the fix within my wives account, I shut off the "Windows Restore.," so not sure if that could effect it.

Hello everyone and thank you for participating in this wonderful site.

My computer is a Pentium 4, 2.80 GHz, Running Windows XP Proffessional Version 2002 Service Pack 2.
The problem I'm writing about has been there for about a year. All in all it's the same prolem ever since, but every once in a while some detail changes, like a new error message.
Every about 5-15 minutes the Start Menu Taskbar and the desktop icons disappear (Explorer crushes). Most of the times they reappear shortly after, but sometimes they don't, and then I use task manager to run explorer and then they reappear. Yet, sometimes the computer stucks altogether, and I have to restart. In addition to that, many popups open when I surfe the web using Internet Explorer. The popup changes every few days, but in between it's always the same one.
Another point is that while the crushing of explorer can occur anytime, it most often occurs while I open or close Internet Explorer windows.

Sometimes I get an error message, and as I said, they change from time to time. But still, here are 2:

rundll32.exe - Application Error

The instruction at "0x74725956" referenced memory at "0x00a10004". The memory could not be "read".

I've tried updating java, changing the internet settings in IE, to no avail. I have also tried disabling all antivirus and firewalls etc.

The IE on the main administrator user for the computer still works fine, it's all the other users on the computer that we get the error for. We installed firefox and can click on the java links and they open fine in the user accounts.

I don't see the connection between your browser and a virus scan, unless your doing an online scan. But there's no point in doing a McAfee online scan if you have McAfee anti-virus already installed in your system. Some suggestions:1. Update your anti-virus online then reboot in Safe Mode and run a full system scan there.2. Try this online scan under Firefox:Trend Micro Housecall - http://uk.trendmicro-europe.com/enterprise...call_launch.php(European version, supports Netscape, Mozilla, Firefox and Opera)3.Do you have any anti-spyware installed? Any help is highly appreciated.

A:Internet Explorer Script Error

If you run a script in IE that results in an error, IE gives you the option to debug the script. To disable this option, perform the following steps:

Start a registry editor (e.g., regedit.exe).
Navigate to the HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main registry subkey.
Double-click the Disable Script Debugger value.
Set the value data to "yes" to disable the script debugger, then click OK (setting the value to "no" enables the script debugger).
Restart IE for the change to take effect.

hope this will help.

I am struggling with a feature on my computer. I run FF3 as my browser. I downloaded a new game trial from pogo.com, the game is Pictureka. When I try to run the game, I get an error stating "An error has occurred in the script on this page" but there is no additional info next to the Line/Char/Error/Code/URL headings. When I try to click on the option YES or NO to answer the "Do you wish to continue running scripts on this page?" query, I get nothing but another identical Error Window. If I try to simply close the error window, another immediately takes its place. Unfortunately, this is not limited to only this game. I have tried to uninstall a few other old game trials but as soon as the uninstall intro screen pops up, I get the exact same error. The only way to rid myself of malfunction is thru the "End Task" window (Alt/Ctrl/Del) and choosing end program.

I tried updating my Java to see if that might be the problem but the problem still exists after the upgrade.

Is there any way to make FF run the program instead of IE?

Thank you for your help and if you need additional info, let me know.

Have you tried reinstalling IE from the XP disk? It's fast and easy, just open a run window, type in 'inf', find IE.inf, right click and left click on 'install'. When prompted, point to the installation disk. I had a customer with the same issue a while back and it seemed to help.

All you need to do is disable script debugging. To do this, click on "Tools" and "Internet Options". Click on the "Advanced" tab. Check the box next to "Disable Script Debugging" and save.

Hello,

I am having strange problems with IE7.

On my PC with XP:HE with SP2 and all other updates, I have 2 users. On one user, IE works perfectly. On the other user I have a number of strange problems.

1) Firstly, IE always wants to go to "http://runonce.msn.com/runonce2.aspx" and there is a blank blue screen. I attempted to follow the solutions in the other thread (IE7 - http://runonce.msn.com/runonce2.aspx (RESOLVED)) but none work for the following reasons:

-gpedit.msc cannot be found (i think this is because i have home edition not pro edition xp)
-In the HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main registry key there is no string called "RunOnceHasShown" so i can't change this to 1. I tried adding it in as a string but it didn't work.
-the trusted zone work around did not work either.

2) The second error i have is that on most pages there is a warning triangle in the bottom left of the page next to "done" or it says "error on this page". If I try to click on the triangle to find out about the error i get a blank Script error box with yes or no boxes at the bottom. I can click both but they dont do anything and the error message remains. I also get the error message if i press "ctrl+f" to open the search box. I will upload a screenshot of this error message after i've posted.

3) Certain areas of websites do not work. For example clicking the "bold" button in this posting window ... Read more

Whenever I log in to TSGF, I begin to access a series of panes that are titled as this message is titled. They always appear on top of the page I have accessed in TSGF. They contain words like: Line 2; Character 9; Invalid Character:Code 0 and URL, http//forums.techguy.org/newthread.php?s=be7e77el.
They allow the choice of a Yes or No with the yes as recommended. Clicking them off allows me to use TSGF as usual but it is a pain.
What might be the cause of this problem. I run AOL 7.0; Compaq 5080US with Bios Ver. 686c3; Win XP ver. 5.1.2600 and 256 MB with 797 MHz.
The Internet Explorer browser was bundeled with my computer but I try not to use it, favoring the AOL Browser. However, the IE muscles in frequently and takes over. I don't like it but am feaful to remove it since it always causes DialUp errors.

Not really familiar with AOL, but since thier browser is based on IE, they should have some things in common.

Those are script errors that it is reporting. In IE, under internet options those are cntrolled by going to the Advanced tab and unchecking the display a notification about every script error.

You should also check Disable Script Debugging also.

I would imagine that there is a similar setting in the AOL browser settings somewhere.

I have Windows XP and continue to get these annoying script errors. I have done what I saw in previous threads, put a check in disable script debugging and unchecked display notification of every script error and show friendly HTTP error messages. Most all of the errors are "invalid character" in such and such line. What can I do?
