Solved: Internet address won't leave address auto complete history

Q: Solved: Internet address won't leave address auto complete history

I have a web address that auto completes in my address bar even after I have gone to tools, internet options, clear history, delete cookies, delete temp files.

The address is www.bodymiracleatlanta.com/models03.html

Any suggestions?

Preferred Solution: Solved: Internet address won't leave address auto complete history

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I'm running Windows XP. In Windows 2000, when you type something in the run box or in the address bar in IE, the rest of what you type is automatically filled in based on previous entries. How do I enable this in XP? I receive a drop down list with previous entries, but I either have to completely finish typing what I want to run, or I have to use the arrow keys or mouse to select an entry. It's not automatically completed. I do not want forms or usernames or passwords on internet sites filled in.

A:Auto-Complete for Address Bar and Run

On the tools tab in IE, go to Internet options and click the advanced tab. Enable inline auto complete.

Running Visa Home 32 bit on a laptop, using Windows Mail/Outlook. The email address auto complete was working then all of the sudden it stopped. Now it will auto complete only email addresses that a message was sent to in the last 24 hours. I checked the settings and they are correct, it should be auto completing. I tried going in and deleting the reg key for that, no help. I restored it. I personally don't use Vista, this is for the bosses wife, so I don't know a lot about what else to do. Any help is appreciated. Thanks

Hi all. I think this is an auto complete thing...

I have been logging into my email accounts via webmail for years via the same url. I have four different email accts, and when I load the page, I simply dbl-click in the email field, and I see all four addresses. If I click on one, the pwrd auto-fills, and I am good to go.

My host recently swapped me to another server, and I now have to access my webmail via a different url. I go to that url, and there are no email address there when I dbl-click in the email field. Ok, no biggie. I enter the first address and pwrd, and log in. Windows does not ask me if I want to save the username and pwrd. Weird. I log out, and log into the other three one by one, and with each, I am prompted to save the username and pwrd, which I do. I log out of the fourth one, and then attempt to log back into the first - which I can do, but Windows again does not prompt me to save the username and pwrd. I have rebooted twice, and each time I log in to that specific email, I just log in - no prompt. And that email is not in the email field when I arrive at the log in page.

Anyone have any idea what the heck is going on?

Thanks in advance.

A:Can't get auto complete to remember an email address

That's a nice explanation, but, what the heck webmail and browsers are you using??

If you're using IE, see: Internet Explorer AutoComplete - Turn On or Off for settings.
Since your Host changed servers that first addy may have to be placed in a trusted zone.
There's the possibility with the transfer of servers, the new server still thinks that, that first addy is already saved.
It could be the new server doesn't recognize a security certificate for that addy.
If browser settings are okay, I'd check with your Host.

And please; It would be very helpful if you would fill out your System Specs, you can use the tool included in the Tutorial here: System Info - See Your System Specs just read through the tutorial, use one of the downloads, and it will automagically fill them in for you.

Your welcome.

Could someone please help me in figuring out what I need to do to have Windows Mail auto complete the address of the recipient. Sometimes it works and most of the time it does not. Any help would be appreciated.

A:Windows Mail (auto complete address)

Hello Therapist,

Welcome to the forums.

WM will auto complete the last 29 addresses you have sent emails to. If you have the addresses in your contacts folder, it should auto complete from there. It may however wait until you hit the send button to do so if you haven't installed SP1. You can use just a first or last name and if there is only one possibility it will send(go to outbox). If more than one possibility it will give a list to choose from. It will not look these up until you click (or tab to) somewhere besides the line you are entering the addresses in.

Hope this helps.

When creating a "new message" you place the curser in the "to" box and as soon as you start typing a letter of an email address you have used - it "automatically gives you options of all email addresses that start with that letter (that you have used) and you click on the one you want.

I want to disable that feature and delete those addresses that I can click on. How do I do that?

Hi Dalton,

Welcome to the forums.

In WM, click Tools/options. Click on the send tab and uncheck 'automatically complete...' That should do it.

Hope that's what your looking for.

try this...

click start then run then type regedit click OK...

in the left pane navigate to this key and click on it...

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\TypedURLs

in the right pane you should see the urls you have typed...right click and select delete on the one you don't want...

be careful in the registry and make a backup before you start

if your asking about the list that appears to the left of the screen when you click the history button...you should be able to just right click on the one you don't want and delete it

A:how to delete a address in the history address bar

Assuming you mean in IE, to delete Autocomplete entries from the Address bar list:

The AutoComplete feature saves previous entries you've made for Web addresses, forms, and passwords. To delete entries from the Address bar, you must clear your History folder. You cannot clear individual entries from the list of saved entries.

On the Tools menu in Internet Explorer, click Internet Options.
Click the General tab, under "History" click Clear History.

Now, here's the question. Will the owners of the website I visit be able to see that I am still the same person? If I were to manually change my IP, it would still show all the ip addresses that have been used under the one account. But, with the new provider will the new IP address still be linked with the old one?

I have an issue that is driving me crazy. No matter what I do there is one item that I cannot delete from my IE address bar (shows up via the auto-complete function). It doesn't show up in the history, just on the address bar. The item is a link to a youtube video. I'm running Vista 64bit. Based upon advice on this and other forums I have attempted all of the below and still can't get it to go away.

-Deleted the IE history (like 3000000 times)
-Searched hardrive for all URLs and looked for the item with no luck
-Ran regedit and looked for the item in the Internet Explorer reg folder (and also tried a FIND on the item with no luck)
-Deleted all history in my YouTube account
-Ran CC Cleaner
-Ran an antivirus scan with my antivirus software (BitDefender)
-Dowloaded and ran MalwareBytes Anti-Malware
-Upgraded from IE8 to IE9
-Deleted IE history in safe mode

I think thats it... Any help anyone could provided would be much appreciated. This started off as me being curious as to why I couldn't delete it and has progressed into a small obsession..... it's now me vs. this stupid link. If you think it would help, I can run HiJack This and post the report.

First time I've ever posted on a message board, but like I said I'm a bit obssesed at this point.

This might be an easy one. Complete WIN XP and all applications re-installed on laptop after OS crash. (reinstal, not repair or recovery ...don't ask....!)

Wireless connection working perfectly on encrypted network after re-instal without any reconfiguration - simply entered encryption keys.

Laptop moved to "home" location - sees a number of unencrypted networks plus own encrypted (different encrypted network from the one above). New Encryption keys entered - wireless strength excellent - but cannot get ip address. Can connect to unencrypted networks OK but not to own encrypted network.

Will disabling encryption, connecting and then re-enabling fix the problem ? Obviously don't want to work on someone else's unencrypted network.

Hey everyone.

I've ran into a problem that I can't quite figure out. My internet connection shows 'no internet access' even though my ISP shows the connection is coming into the house just fine. I usually use a router (NetGear-WNR3500U) but I right now I have the Ethernet connection plugged directly into my PC. I tried directly plugging into my laptop and the internet works just fine. So I know the problem resides in the PC.

Some troubleshooting things I have tried.
-Power cycled my modem, router and PC.
-Repinged my connection from my ISP(Comcast Xfinity)
-Used the reset option on the router and the modem
-I was walked through the internet options needed with the tech support from my ISP to make sure DHCP was enabled and every other setting was correct, and he cleared me that all settings were correct.
-Tried ipconfig commands to /renew and /release my IP
When I tried ipconfig /renew I get the error 'An error occurred while renewing interface Local Area Connection : unable to contact your DHCP server'

-Restored my PC to a restore point where the Internet was working

All of these options did not work.

What I think the problem is and I am not sure how to fix it, when I run the ipconfig /all command my Auto configuration IPv4 Address shows which I was told is a router IP address even though I am plugged directly from the modem to my PC with an Ethernet cord. So I think that's my problem? But I am not sure.

I don't believe that it matters which subnet the computer is in as long as it has an active connection and can reach the default gateway although it might have problems reaching other computers. If this is a home router and you are using the default settings then you shouldn't have to worry about subnets.

In the past I've maintained my address book using the built-in Address Book utility that came with Windows. Once each year, I would import my Address Book (.WAB) file into Outlook 2003/XP. (I don't use Outlook for email.) Then I would use the Mail Merge feature in Word 2003/XP to make and print address labels on standard Avery label sheets to simplify address of my Christmas cards.

Since I'm now using Windows 7, and the familiar Address Book utility is no longer available, how can I print my address labels? I have both Windows Address Book (.WAB) and Comma-Separated Values (.CSV) files that contain my address book data. So, I guess I need to know two things:
Which program or utility (preferably free) can I use to print my address labels.
How do I import my address data into that program?

If it helps, I am already a user of Gmail and Google Drive. Thanks.

Internet research suggests that you should save with "00" inlieu of "90" and then do a backup of settings. Then edit actaul backup file to set the real address back to "90" and then restore that file to the router.

Well I tried that and restore says that's invalid file. I then tried a backup file as a normal backup process with no edits (also no address reservation for main PC) and the same error appears. So don't know what good a backup of settings is if that does not work.

Are there any suggestions or should I just forget and deal with the ever changing internal IP addresses?

Every time I google on something, a drop-down list appears under the Google search box showing everything I've ever visited in the past. This search box history feature is a nuisanace. Not only that, but if a computer is shared, someone else can see what has been visited. When I posted earlier today, I got the Google Search Box confused with the IE address bar. I edit to read Google search box. Apologies. Thanks for any info.

I have Windows XP Pro, sp3 and use Firefox 3.

Sometimes there is something in the history of address bar that you can access via a "drop down list" and is very close to what you need. But when I click it, it goes right to the site that the address points to, not giving me a chance to alter it. Is there a way that I can get a URL from history into the address bar without it being activated so I can alter it or somewhere else (convenient), so I can alter it?

Welcome to TSG.

Not sure about FF3 but it should be the same as FF2 and IE.

Open the history side bar (CTRL+H or toolbar icon, usually a clock). Once you find the link there, you can right click, then choose Copy Link Location from the pop up menu. You can then paste it into the address bar and edit it, or into your favorite text editor, etc

You can always click the link, and edit it while/after the page loads, or click stop then edit.

Assuming you don't have any fancy software installed..

I just got a new PC and have just loaded FF3.6.3 but need to know how to erase Address Bar History. I've searched and it appears some of the commands on About:config aren't there anymore. Anyone know the trick to doing this with the new version?

A:Erasing Address bar history on FF 3.6.3

Go to Tools > Options > Privacy tab. Put a checkmark in the 'Clear history when Firefox closes' box. Click the Settings button. Select the options you want to clear (in your case 'Browsing history') and click OK. This will erase the address bar history every time you close Firefox. You could also include the 'Cache', 'Download History' and 'Form & Search History' boxes for extra privacy.

To clear the history without closing Firefox, complete the steps above first. You only have to do this once. Then any time you want to clear the history, just hit Ctrl-Shift-Del or go to Tools > Clear Recent History.

To permanently remove and disable any history of what you type in the Firefox 3.6 address bar, go to Tools > Options > Privacy tab > 'Firefox will:' and select 'Never remember history' from the dropdown menu.

Clicking on the down-arrow on IE's address bar brings up the last 25 sites visited (default setting). Is there any way to set that to a much higher number on Win XP?? Must be a registry setting, I suppose. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Hi, I hope you can help me out. I have a client who was having some troubles with there computer asked if I would look at it. When I did, I found some malware.

One of the users had a bunch of porn sites in the address bar drop down. How do those get there? I am under the impression that they are items that were typed into the address bar. Is that true, or can you get those from a pop-up or any other way?

A:IE Address History Dropdown

Depending on the browser and the settings, those can be from directly typed URLs, links that have been clicked, or pages that have been visited by any means (popups, etc.), or a combination of those.

The short answer is that if an address appears in the dropdown, it's been visited by the user, either on purpose or inadvertently. Malware may add addresses to the list or may redirect the user against his or her will to such sites.

In Tools > Internet Options (control panel > Internet Options) under the 'General' Tab is the History settings. The History clears after the number of days that you see there. That's probably it.
