I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi, I saw the new BIOS version 1.25 dated ?14?.?09?.?2016 appearing on Lenovos support site. I did not check the version I was having on my system before downloading the "new BIOS", so I started the installer and the tool told me I already have this BIOS version. msinfo32.exe tells me I am having BIOS 1.25 dated 13.07.2016. So apparently the BIOS was released already some time ago and I already flashed it to 1.25. So whats the point of re-releasing the 1.25? If there are any changes of todays version compared to the 1.25 released some time ago, is it worth flashing? If yes, how can I do this if the tool tells me I am already having the latest version and it does not let me override my BIOS? Thanks and best regards,Martin

I've registered for Win 10, so I check each day to see if any new updates have arrived.

Today a few times I saw error 80244019 and an update failure.

When you look up the error code you find:

Windows Update error 80070422, 80244019, or 8DDD0018

where it claims:

"If you receive one of these errors while downloading updates, the most common cause is a computer virus that has turned off Windows Update, or another service on your computer that is needed by Windows Update."
which is kind of scary.

However, trying a little later, I see things work and there's nothing new.

I suppose the Windows servers are getting jammed and thrashed around quite thoroughly.

Funny how 'Get Windows 10' may cause MS to have a denial-of-service attack of their own making.

A:Recent Windows Update Error Code 80244019 - probably GWX

I have exactly the same problem on my Windows 8.1 Pro x64 and the MS solution provided by MS doesn't work . I've also found some other solution (it actually resets Windows Update) together with automated FixIt file which claims to have corrected the error, but in fact it doesn't.

I've realized that the error appears only when updates for both Windows and other MS programs are enabled. If looking for Windows updates only (to be configured in WU), the error is magically gone and updates are correctly found and installed.

However I do believe this has something to do with Win10 updates, as I have three computers at home and another two propose me to update to Win10 from the Windows Update window, while the one affected (actually my main one ) still shows only the Win10 icon in the tray and the option to update to Win10 is gone from the Windows Update window (for others it's offered as the first-choice update and I need to select "other updates" to see available updates).

I have Windows provided by Dell installed on this machine so maybe it looks for dedicated Win10 update for Dell computers? Has anyone found a solution to this?

I see that the current bios version is many generations older than the version that I need to install. Each newer version has specific fixes and enhancements. Do I need to install the all versions between the current and new or will the newest version contain all the previous fixes as well?

Thanks

I recently got a BSOD a few minutes after I updated my BIOS. After a quick Google search it might not be related. Most results pointing to a Realtek related problem. But I am not too sure about this so I've decided to ask someone confirm. I followed the option 1 in uploading information in this forums. I understand it uploaded a couple of .dmp files even though it was just once. Just an FYI. My mobo is H61M-DS2 rev 2.2. Current BIOS version is 10a.

A:BSOD after a recent BIOS update. Rt64win7.sys related

So I just got a couple more BSOD. They may not be related to each other, but I'm no expert on this.. BAD_POOL_CALLER seems to be memory(hardware) problem. I'm not quite sure about the CACHE_MANAGER. It did happen twice. I redid the dm log collector just to update everything. I'm really concerned about the BSOD today. If get anymore I'm going to revert back to f9 for my bios.

ASRock has issued BIOS updates for several mobos with a simple comment "improves memory compatibility." For me, that turned out to be a solid fix for my Intel-based mobo that had intermittent USB 3.0 detection problems on specific devices. Now, they all are recognized as USB 3.0 100% of the time. We've just applied this BIOS update (http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/downloads/detail.page?DocID=DS035753) on 4 M93p Tiny machines. 1 of the machines is getting a blinking cursor at boot up (bricked?)3 of the machines can no longer boot to the hard drive. In the 3 machines that are not seeing the hard drive to boot, they occasionally show in the BIOS boot order, but when you try to include them in the boot order they disappear. Hard drives are a recently Windows 7 64-bit image that worked before BIOS update. If we network boot into a PE we can see the hard drive contents. Called Lenovo support but got bounced around... any one see any issues like this?

Hi Folks, I have a spectre X360 and I am really happy with it. Great product. I recently updated the bios and it was really nice to be rid of the glowing keyboard light LED. There is an issue that has popped up though which is incredibly frustrating, like incredibly annoying, and I was wondering if anyone else has noticed this. The keyboard response to typing a double letter (such as the t in letter) has gone down. In other words my typing speed is now limited because the keyboard isn't as sensitive as it was prior to the bios update. Does anyone know of a setting somewhere where I can increase the sensitivity of the keyboard so I'm not constantly going back to correct a missing double letter? Please! argh it sucks so bad. It has ruined my experience with this machine. -Sam

Hello. My device is Lenovo Thinkpad P40 Yoga (WQHD-version, Windows 10 Pro on build 16299.192). A couple of days ago System Update 5 notified me about a pending BIOS update. I then installed LENOVO R05ET75W (1.53), 2017-12-20 and rebooted. However, some time after that I started noticing that whenever you switch between full-screen applications from, let's say, the one that uses a dark background (for example: MyTube from Microsoft Store for W10) to a browser window which has white background the screen changes brightness gradually within the next two seconds, as if it has been dimmed upon displaying darker colors. This is extremely irritating to the eyes, as you can literally see the brightness getting increased in a few short jumps and this was not the case prior to that BIOS update if I am not mistaken. The actual brightness slider remains the same! It's just the additional effect of switching from dark to bright. I haven't updated anything else besides BIOS in the last two weeks and first noticed this about a day ago. I think the BIOS update came two days ago - unfortunately it does not show up in Installed Updates history (as the BIOS update opened a separate process and did not close the System Update window prior to the reboot), so I can't say for sure, but other than that the latest update I installed was on December 30th and I haven't been experiencing the issue I described above up until recently. The automatic brightness is turned off ... Hey @cgruchy11, Thank you for joining in the HP Support Forums and asking for help with the BIOS Update on your HP Pavilion Notebook - 15-ab137ca that you are stuck on. Did you manage to get the BIOS Update to finish? Is it the BIOS Startup menu that you are trying to have not come up when you start the Notebook? The Basic Input/Output System (BIOS) is responsible for setting up devices used by your system so that those devices can send and receive data. The BIOS does a checklist on your hardware to make sure everything is functioning properly to be able to continue to the Operating System. Updating the BIOS, also known as "flashing the BIOS," replaces the BIOS firmware. When completed successfully, a BIOS update can fix or enhance aspects of a notebook's performance, or provide support for newly installed hardware. However, if an incorrect update is installed or if the update process is interrupted, the motherboard can be permanently damaged, leaving the computer unable to boot. It is recommended to update your BIOS only if one or more of the following conditions apply:The update fixes a problem with your computer. The update enhances your computer's performance in a desired way.You are planning to change the operating system, processor, or other feature(s), and the current BIOS version will not support the new configuration. An HP Support Agent, or an HP support document, recommends that ... Hi, I recently updated the X1 yoga 1st gen to the pushed out updates. This laptop, other than the battery life decreasing (expected) has been doing fine. However, after the recently pushed out updates, it stopped recognizing touch and stylus. This maching was fine just prior to the BIOS flash and updates. I tried to install the new 9/14 touchscreen drivers and it says "Target device not found" (even though it was working immediately prior to updates. (other topics similar to this are not pertinent to this situation) My suspicion is that it is triggered by soft ware - BIOS, but I can't quite roll that back. I would appreciate any help.

Hi all,
I have a recently purchased dell Inspiron 5555. It has been running very slowly and the dell website suggests updating the drivers. I used the online tool to detect out of date drivers and the BIOS was the only one found. It wasn't able to install automatically and asked me to install manually. So I tried to install and now I'm stuck. The progress was stuck at 21% for an hour and now has been stuck on 25% for 3 hours. I'm from Australia and currently in the US for a business trip and really stuck. Is there any way to get out of this mess? I cannot call tech support until Monday and don't know what to do.
Any help would be appreciated.

Hi everyone,

Hope to find help here regarding a laptop running on Windows 7 but is currently stuck in a cycle of restarting in Windows 8 (on VHD). Yup stuck because there's no way I can get back to my Windows 7... because it keeps loading up Win 8 and keep getting error. Here's the story:

Installed Windows 8 Consumer preview using VHD (via Powershell)
But loads up to show an error:
Your computer ran into a problem and needs to restart....
... VHD_BOOT_INITIALIZATION_FAILED
It's collecting error info and will restart in ___ second...

It counts down to restart
Upon restart, it shows the fish loading - right below it says "Preparing automatic repair"

Then after, it shows "Choose your keyboard layout" and displays list of languages/country. I choose US.

Finally it displays "Choose an option" giving me only these following option:
Troubleshoot
Turn off your PC

Apparently, it doesn't even give me an option to Continue to the consumer preview...

I have no idea what else to do with Troubleshoot because under that option, there's only Refresh, Reset, Advance... Refresh yields nothing (unsuccessful), Reset is what I avoid because it says it will delete files and such, Advance (it's just too advanced)...

Therefore, the only option is to Turn Off Your PC ... which only turns off PC.

When it's restarted same cycle happens and Im stuck with buggy Win 8 installation

I tried troubleshooting by:

I recently pruchased a T440p, and it seems to not want to recognize the USB 3.0 ports and has an issue with turning on sometimes while on battery power. I thought these might be motherboard issues, but I figured updating the BIOS before I try to replace the main board would be worth a shot. Those are probably topics for another discussion, but just wanted to give all relevant information. So I dowloaded the BIOS update .iso, hash verified the download, burned to to DVD and booted to it. It appeared to be going very well, until, after one restart, the computer just hung on the ThinkPad boot screen ("Press ENTER to..."). I will not enter BIOS setup if I hit F1, all I get is the flashing underscore. I can, however, press F10 to enter the diagnostics and run them. Have I "bricked" the device? What are my options from here?

Hei,my laptop started a bios update yesterday (I was not around, was going to wait until starting it until I had more time but apparently it just started automatically when I left). This morning it was at 91% and has not changed since. I'm not sure why it got stuck, it might have been unplugged in between but I am not sure. I thought it might be best to restart the update and clicked cancel but I can't close the window or click any other of the options in the updater, and forcing it closed by using task manager is a bit scary. Any advicer? Should I just restore the system to the last point or is that dangerous?

About 4 months ago I spilled orange juice on my laptop and it messed up the motherboard. I recently ordered a brand new motherboard and new ram and it now seems to be working fine, but I went into hp support assistant and tried to update bios because when I booted it up it gave me a notification that I might need to, and it is stuck on installing. I should also note that when I have the laptop plugged in, it says "plugged in and not charging". I read somewhere on here that it needs to be plugged in for the BIOS to install. Could I have a battery problem? And if so could that be causing it to not install?

My mum has a windows 8 Samsung DP700A3D and says she switched it on the other day and there was a message to update to windows 8.1 and she could not escape out of this message and had to accept the update. It then began updating and there was a percentage bar showing progress. She can't remember what percentage it was up to but it was taking a while so she left it updating. When she returned (no idea how long she left it) it was in the bios config screen main page.
She tried ESC (quit without saving) but after it went black and the samsung logo came up it then returned to Main page of bios. Also she tried F10 save & exit but again returned to bios. She has tried both theses using F keys and also arrow keys/enter. She swears she touched nothing else.
I have arrived at her house and unplugged a camera cable she had plugged in USB port and then restarted machine but again back at bios. I have checked the disc drive and that is empty. I have also tried removing the USB wifi keyboard & mouse and restarting machine but again back to bios. I have also unplugged power supply and restarted. Also tried F9 setup defaults and then exited but back to bios.
Can anyone help? Very frustrated.

Hi @JRMNY , Welcome to HP Forums! I have read you post and wanted to help. I understand that your laptop hangs at the BIOS update. Please try a hard reset to force the laptop shut down:Unplug the AC adapter from the computer.Remove the battery from the battery compartment.Press and hold the Power button for about 15 seconds to drain residual electrical charge from the capacitors that protect the memory.Insert the battery and plug the AC adapter back into the notebook, but do not connect any of the peripheral devices.Press the Power button to turn on the computer. If the hard reset does not work, the only other way is to wait the battery dry. Thanks for being a part of the HP community. Hi, You're welcome The flash would have occurred at boot, so as this didn't happen, your existing bios revision will not have been affected. My personal opinion would be to not update the bios unless the update corrects a problem you are experiencing or adds additional functionality that you require - if the machine is running Ok, then there's really no need to update. Note: I see from your screenshot that your current bios revision is F.1A - there are 2 later revions listed for your notebook. HP Bios updates are cumulative, so if you do wish to update, the latest version will contain all the fixes/enhancements offered by previous versions - the latest revision listed is Here. Regards, DP-K

New X250 notebook shipped with BIOS version 1.13, and I'd like to update it to 1.17, becouse it has Windows 10 support, and I'm having power management issues with that OS. (cannot wake up from sleep, system freeze when closing lid, even with sleep turned off in that case.) I can successfully downgrade my BIOS to 1.12, 1.11, but I cannot upgrade it to 1.16 or 1.17 (cannot download 1.13, it's revoked). The update starts in Windows, restarts, but then an error message stops the update: Finished PUP flashing, Error Code: Unknown error code (0xC),ADDITIONAL_DATA:0x7Error reported from PFAT: Unknown ErrorStatus of TdkBiosRomWrite: 1ERROR 102 : Failed to perform flash After rebooting, I can comfirm that the update failed. It's strange, as I mentioned, 1.12, 1.11 can be flashed without problems.BIOS rollback protection is off, secure boot is off, BIOS user flash is enabled.I've run out of options, any advice?

A:BIOS cannot update, ERROR CODE 102

Good day and welcome to the community.

Sorry you're having difficulty.
If you have access to a USB CD/DVD drive, you could try using the bootable disk method:
http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/thinkpad-x-series-laptops/thinkpad-x25...
but you might want to speak with Support (info below) about this first. A failed BIOS upgrade can be very difficult to recover from.

Regards.

Hello, please could you give me advice - I made a BIOS update (Version: 01.42Ap1). This update was strongly recommended in program HP support assistant. Immediately after update the error 601 occurred (for the first time...). The notebook was bought in 6-2015 and it is used only occasionally. The Battery Test in HP Support Assistant shows 0%. The program BatteryInfoView (BIV) shows Battery Level Wear 100% (which means that the battery is 100% ok). On my old (working) notebook EliteBook 8540p the BIV shows 35% level. I think that the battery is ok but something in BIOS is incorrect.Thank you for your advice.Tomas BIV - http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/battery_information_view.html

Hi, Please try updating the BIOS from HP Software Driver Download Page instead of HPSA. You can visit the link below to update the BIOS, by entering your product details http://support.hp.com/in-en/drivers Hope this helps ***If my post helped, click the White thumbs-up symbol to say thanks******Please mark Accept As Solution if my post solved your problem******Although I am an HP Employee, I am speaking for myself and not for HP***

Hi guys ,I currently have an Alienware 15R3 with a recurrent (BSOD) "Thread Stuck in Device Driver ".It recently went worse as I cannot boot into windows without this BSOD coming up.So I have decided to update my bios (currently in A06) through safe mode. However Murphy's law strike again as i get the "Unable to Load driver" error message when I execute the Bios update file.So i have decided to set up a Freedos on my USB stick and I copy the Bios Update file downloaded from Dell website in order to execute the Bios Flash Update directly from the Bios (F12 on launch --> Bios Flash Update) . However , another problem strike, once in the GSET Bios Flash Update I cannot use the left / right arrow from the keyboard (only the ups and downs work) in order to select the bootable disk and run the program. I tried to plug another Keyboard through USB same problem .My Bios is open and I have no restriction in paramter of anykind. This is a story when everything goes wrong , so if anyone can help me I would really really appreciate .Thank you guys and Best RegardsGuillaume

After allowing Lenovo System Update to run, the last item it installed was the critical BIOS update. During the update, before the machine rebooted, it blue-screened [Windows 10, unhappy face on the screen], and after that it wouldn't boot and would just hang at the Lenovo boot screen. I was unable to get into BIOS [F1], choose a boot device [F12], etc. Holding the RESET button [tiny hole under the laptop] didn't yield any positive result either. To fix it I unscrewed the 5 screws on the bottom of the laptop and removed the bottom cover. Then I removed the 3 screws holding the large battery in and removed it. Then removed the 2 screws for the smaller battery [yours may have 3 here] and set it aside also. Lastly I unplugged the little CMOS battery [round, mine was yellow and had 2 wires that connected it to the motherboard], held down the Reset button with my finger for about a minute, then let it sit about 10 mins while I was working on something else. I reconnected the CMOS battery but did not reinstall the laptop batteries. I flipped the laptop over [you can snap the bottom cover back on first if you'd like], attached the AC power and powered it up. I could now get into the BIOS, BOOT, and other menus however the machine wouldn't boot due to the BIOS defaults being loaded. I unplugged it and reinstalled the batteries and buttoned-up the bottom cover. Turning it back on, I hit F1 and went into the BI... Started bios update, left for lunch...came back to this screen. Per another Lenovo community member on this post (https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-P-and-W-Series-Mobile/P70-bios-update-frozen/td-p/3512289) I undocked. The fan stopped and now it's been like this for 30mins now. Any suggestions before I brick this thing?

I will give the same advice I gave to the original poster. If you are still under warranty, call support before doing anything. (some have 2-or-3-year warranty and are still covered.) If you had asked ahead of time, I would have said to undock and remove USB devices BEFORE flashing. If no warranty, at this point, I'm not sure what is best. One guy had luck undocking, so I might try that.

Last week HP support assistant sent a message that my BIOS needed to be upgraded. Since then, I have been in a continuous BIOS Update loop. I have tried making a flashable usb drive. I got that to work, but I used the previous BIOS version for my machine. When the BIOS was writing, it got to 19% and sat awhile then zipped on to 100%. When the machine restarted, I was still stuck in the bios loop. Thinking that perhaps there was a problem with this version of BIOS---FROM THE HP SITE FOR MY SPECIFIC MACHINE, I tried to find the page with Bios update files, but have been unable to find it again. Does anyone know the link to this page? Whenever I go through the HP support site, I get nowhere. I have also tried multiple Fn keys, but I always end up in the loop. I removed the power supply, battery, and hard drive, but when I put it back together, back in the loop. My machine is out of warranty. I tried to start up from a windows 10 flash drive, but...the dreaded Bios loop. Please help. If anyone has the link to the bios updates, that would be great! Any other suggestions would be helpful, too. Anyone know how much HP charges for something like this?

Hello
I recently obtained a Dell Latitude E6430 without a hard drive. I installed an SSD and managed to get windows up and running but ran into problems.
I noticed that every time I enter the BIOS setup and exit the laptop will always fail to boot and I would have to re-seat a ram stick to turn on the laptop again or if I closed the laptop lid the laptop will turn off and once again I will have to re-seat the ram sticks for it to boot again.
I noticed that the laptop is running on an older BIOS version (A11). I tried updating to the latest version with various methods.
- I tried just running the executable
- Tried using the command prompt and using /forceit command
- Tried booting into a bootable USB into freeDOS and updating that way
I'm really running out of ideas and right now the laptop is completely unusable.

Hi all, I just received the laptop mentioned above... and already stumpled other the very fancy soundy fan... it turns on early and it has a nice high frequency noise... very bad. I am used to the Yoga 720 and there a silent mode which was very helpful as it reduced the need of the fan overall (not heavy usage here). 2nd issue: Installed newest bios... and now the CPU is stuck at 1,5 GHZ and below... what the hell? I was wondering how that can be true (red it before in a test), that a bios available for quite some time can have such an issue. Lenovo? I changed power modes, tried own energy plans and so on... stuck at 1,5 GHZ. Best,Andy

Lots of people are wondering, but seems like Lenovo won't answer this question. Deal breaker for me..

Hi

I've been recommended to update my bios (original threet http://www.techsupportforum.com/foru...ml#post7462354)

And this was a fatal mestake in my case. After the update i had problems to boot up again. At first it was error 32 on the motherboard debug panel. I removed all usb cables, and restarted couple of times, and eventualy it booted fine. I checked the bios, its version was the correct one (3.30)

But today i wasnt able to boot at all, first couple of tries was error 32 once again, than i removed all usb cables again. Still nothing. Support at Asrock mailed me that i should disconect all sata devices. So i did that, but after powering on the error changed to 00 and it remained this way no matter what i plug or unplug. Any help would be apriciated.

my mother board is Asrock p67 pro3 ( ASRock > P67 Pro3)
with procesor intel i5 2500k (no overclocking)
