Recently, my HP Deskjet 5650 printer has started printing all blue background whenever I try to print out an email and then only 1/2 the message on the email is printed as well (in black,luckily). This only happens when trying to print an email that has been sent to me, not w/web pages. I'm running out of blue ink....as it makes the whole page blue, every time.

Whether downloading IE 8 has anything to do w/this or not, I don't know, but I have had other problems since IE 8 has "come aboard." I have tried to get rid of IE 8 thru System Restore, but that has only caused me not to be able to connect to the internet at all, and I've had to use System Restore again to put it back so that I can get my system to connect again.

You don't indicate which version, but have you tried Tools>Email Accounts...? Also, it sounds as if the computer still has all her account info...did anyone change any of it? If her name is on it, what about her return email address, etc?

Also, you may want to speak to your IT person/department because there will probably be a few applications that may do this to you....

My hp 6500 printer will only print left side of outlook emails in IE. I have tried highlighting the section I want but nothing works to solve this. My little printer Icon is gone on outlook it was at the top. I have no problem with any other printing, photos print sharp and clean. In Foxfire I can select and print and get most of what I wanted. I sure could use some help on this.

I want to make email addy on my Résumé look more professional (currently [email protected] with rocky being my hypothetical first name). Even though I'm still in college, I want to buy a domain because it seems brag worthy and it’s cheap.

Greetings all,

I'm a real newbie to this forum, so if I have posted this in the incorrect location just let me know. Thanks -

When I create a new email and begin to type in a name, for example J, a window/drop-down appears and shows me 3 names that begin with the letter "J" and the next name shown begins with the letter "L". Since I actually have 26 names that begin with "J" why can't I scroll down the list and pick the one I want?

If I double click on the "To" it will bring up my address book and then I can type "J" and it will show me all the "J"s that I can choose from. However, that is obviously another step to go through that wastes time. Is there an option I need to check to allow the first window/drop down to show me more options, or another solution?

Thanks in advance for any information you can provide to solve this problem for me.

Hi Ron, maybe I'm missing something, but the more letters you type, the narrower the field becomes.

So for example, if I start off with "L" all the names with L will pop-up, as I type the second letter, LI, all the names with LI will stay and everything else drops off and so on. That's the way the "auto" feature is designed to work.

The other way you could do it is just type the entire name in the To box and hit Check Names and the box that opens will have a list of all the people with that name, then you just choose the one you want.

I recently transferred to a different computer and am using Outlook Express 6 to get my email - the problem I'm having is that, when I receive an email attachment and try to open it, Adobe Photoshop opens and the photo or pdf file is opened there. Naturally this is not the program I want to use - I don't know why my pdf files aren't opening in Adobe Reader, and why the photo attachments aren't opening in Windows picture viewer - I've looked around in Options, Help, etc., and can't seem to find a way to change this or specify what I want to use to open these with.

I'm sure there's a way (hopefully a simple one!) - can someone help me?

Hello, I tried googling this everywhere and the question is driving me insane, I couldn;t find anything.

Let's say my name is Mario Rossi, and my account is marcoros outlook com.

Now, when I make a new installation and connect it directly to windows, it creates a C:\user\marco .

Why the hell NOT marcoros? Why does it cut the username to 5 letters in my case? And not even take my First Name. It just cuts a piece of e-mail address and leaves it to make no sense ( because in my case its not marco which still would make sense, i would want it to be marcoros )

Is there a way to change this by default so that when i make an installation i get the name like that? In the account options, somewhere?
Or i have to make local account > marcoros > connect to marcoros outlook account?

Please help me, this thing is really stupid IMHO with no logic, i may have missed something so i am the stupid one, but thats why im here to ask.

i want to send an email to a website and having hit 'contact us' i get a window that says 'choose application' - see my jpg.

i expect to see an email address but i suppose this is a way to stop spammers getting addresses. however i have a legitimate question to address to the website but have no idea what to do next.

i use firefox as a browser and yahoo as my mailer but neither of them are included in the list of the applications i am presented with to choose from.

someone please enlighten me what to do?

I've configured a fillable pdf document with an automated email address submission button, which all seems to be working just fine. However, when I test it, Windows doesn't seem to know which default email client to use for email purposes.

I know that to change your default email client you:

1) The settings are located in Start>Control Panel>Add/Remove Programs>Set Programs Access and Defaults>Custom
2) Click the arrows pointing down to expand the Custom entry.
3) The email programs you have installed on your computer should be listed here. Place a check next to your preferred email client.
4) Press the OK button.
5) Exit the Control Panel.

My setting appears to be correctly set to Mozilla Thunderbird, but when I invoke the Submit (email) button on my pdf form, I get:

What additional tweak(s) do I need to make from here to integrate my email client ( I could have sworn I was done . . .). Thanks!

This posting has elicited a surprising absence of replies, so I thought I would try to resurface it, and append a little bit of additional information.

I tried initiating the automated email address submission feature again, but without great success. I reset the default email manually, and when I invoked the email submission, but that generated this dialog box.

From there, clicking Continue generated the following output from the Microsoft Exchange.

However, I still can't understand, why if I've set Mozilla Thunderbird as the default email application - why the email submission script doesn't pass the form through to Mozilla Thunderbird. Does any of this additional information help?

I have a situation where someone has 2 email addresses. One of them is now redundant and I have deleted it from the People section. However, when I am set to make a new email to that person and type the first letter of their name, in the pop up window (that you can click on) their old email address still appears.
How do I delete this from that list? Can find no way to do so.

In new email, start typing the address you want to remove. When you have enough characters for auto complete to show it (sometimes one letter is enough), use DOWN ARROW key on keyboard to select the address in question and press DEL key.

Right now I use yahoo.com to access my sbc.global.net emails but it doesn't have auto check. I want it so that my computer automatically checks for new emails every 5 minutes or so and makes a sound to alert me if I have a new email. Is the easiest way to do this to install windows live mail and manually setup pop/smpt ect..?

What exactly do you mean? Did you install programs to scan your mail for viruses? Firewall and/or anti-virus? Or do you mean the "protection" that OE offers?

If you mean OE, you can just change the setting:

Remove the scanning if it is third-party software. But....if you really want the software protecting you, then the answer is, no.

I have a new ASUS notebook and it uses Windows 8. On my home pc I have Windows Vista and was able to set up multiply email accounts in Window Live Mail. (my charter, my hubby charter, 2 school google accounts and yahoo)
I was able to read mail coming thru our main email acct (my charter), if an email came thru that needed to go to my hubbys account or another account I was able to drop and drag it to the other account listed on the screen.

I have most of my emails set up on my new ASUS notebook. Is there any way to drop and drag emails from one account to another? I can drag the email and hover over the new email account, but it does not drag it.

Thanks for any help. I am new to the notebook thing and windows 8.

I have Windows Vista Home Premium on my desktop..i use the windows mail program and every single day, after i send an email to a friend of mine i get a email in my junk mail folder saying:

A corrupt mail message, ID 1217875865501 from <MY EMAIL ADDRESS HERE> has been

and it only does this when i email this one person. we basically email chat.
How can i stop these notifications?!?!

I am new to excel VBA and am just about realizing the vast capabilities of coding.

I have created a spread sheet that contains delivery dates. I want to automate an email 7 days in advance 2 days in advance and the day of delivery. The less action required to initiate the macro the better. I tried tweaking some codes found online but to no avail. I'm surrendering to anybody out here that can help me accomplish this task.

I've attached an image of my sheet with column J being the delivery date to reference. The mailto list can be encoded in the VBA editor. Once the email is sent it shouldn't send again. In addition the may be a few blank rows before there is a row with more dates in them. I would need it to pass over the dashed rows and continue to the next row with a date.

Any and all help is greatly appreciated,

My recommendation would be MailWasher (do a search on mailwasher here at TSG). This client can be restricted to a particular time-window of your choosing. It also allows for filtering and previewing your mail to help avoid malware. This is the best (free) piece of software I have ever used.

I've created an Excel file for the traders at work that list all the securites we hold and the dates the the hold on trading them come off. What I'd like to do is have an email sent out say 3 days before the hold comes off and the day the hold comes off.

I've read around a bit and it seems that there has to be some event in Excel that would trigger the emails. The problem here is that the Excel file will probably be closed most of the time. It'll just be opened every so often to add a new security or if someone wants to check something. There may be several days where it goes without being used.

Is there any other way I could create some sort of database that can automatically send out emails via Outlook without requiring any action on my end (maybe Access?).

The files will all be saved on a networked server and the emails will be send through an Exchange server. Most people are using Office 2003, a few people are using Office 2007. Everyone is on Windows XP.

Hi All,
First post here. I am truly baffled by this one. I am an admin and have an issue with a PC (I think) at a remote location. The user has told me that something is printing her emails but deleting them before they get to the inbox.

I know it sounds very strange but at first thought it was viral. I ran scans with Symantec End-point protection 12, Trend micro house call, malwarebytes, super anti spyware, and spybot search & destroy. They found some stuff but they were "cleaned" and now the behavior continues. If I scan the machine again, it comes up clean.

Oh, and I have tried deleting the printer but it still prints to it!

I suspect it is this machine since this is the one she has her email client on. Where else could they be coming from..

More info:

Active Directory 2003 domain (very simple)
PC has XP SP3 on it with ALL updates
I have tried recreating her profile on the PC as well, no luck

As I said, I am baffled and could not find anything that would behave like this through google.

Any help is appreciated.

What still prints to it?

Hi,
Currently I have a Windows batch file which performs a number of file related tasks. However, the final thing I want it to do is open a new email with Outlook Express* and automatically attach a file, leaving the user to complete the rest of the email and send it.

At the moment, I'm basically running mailto: from the batch file, however, there doesn't seem to be a way to provide a file for it to automatically attach.

If anyone has any idea of how to do this, or any pointers in the right direction, this would be much appreciated. VBscripts, C++/VB, anything as long as I can call it from a batch file and doesn't require user interaction.

I have two login's on my computer other than Administrator. One for me, one for my wife. This morning she went to print out something from a web page under her login. It wouldn't work, and she called me and asked me to print it out using our HP8150, leaving her login open.

When I got home, I clicked on the print icon in the sys tray under her log in, and it showed a job pending, but it wouldn't print for me either. So I switched users, and low and behold, when I logged onto my side, there was the window comfirming that I should START PRINTING!

It printed fine, and I tested other printing on her side and it doesn't work over there, but does print out fine on my side. When I print out something from my login, it does print out fine. So, how do I get this fixed so she can print out properly from her login?

I would think the printer has to be installed for all users. Suggest you delete the reference to the printer in her Printers folder (double-click 'Printers and Faxes' in Control Panel), and then while logged into her profile, install the printer again.

The Mail app is no longer syncing my email automatically. I have to open the app and click the sync button manually for email to update.

I see the app no longer runs in the background as it did when I first upgraded to Windows 10.

Is there a fix for this? And if not, is there an alternative mail client that you recommend that will run in the background and sync emails?

The Windows 10 Mail App seems to be quite different from Windows Live Mail, Vista's Windows Mail, Outlook Express, etc. So far I've only set up Microsoft's Outlook [part of Office] on Windows 10 computers but have read of some difficulties using Win10 Mail, in particular Importing of older messages.

Hi there,

For a while I've been using Windows Live Mail, on Vista. It worked well for ages, but has recently refused to send mail. After giving up on fixing it, I set up Outlook instead. Same settings and accounts as WLM, a couple IMAP accounts and one HTTP (Hotmail account). Works fine, only problem is that Outlook doesn't automatically retrieve mail. I've set it so that it runs send/receive once a minute, which is okay, but I would rather emails come through when they're actually sent. My main qualm, however, is that even when send/receive is run, there is no notification for new mail. No popup message in the corner, no change in the tray icon, nothing. I just have to keep checking it, which is annoying.

Anyway to fix those two issues?

At the office, my work email receives emails when they're sent, and a popup box appears in the lower left corner. We run an Exchange server there, so mayhap that makes a difference.

I ran a Malware bites and it found a few small things that I deleted, but this has not solved the problem.

She’s using Internet Explorer. I’m trying to get her to change to the Chrome or Fire fox I’ve installed on it but so far she hasn't. she is using Comcast for her service.

The M.security Essentials never picked up on anything.

She has changed her password, and Chuck Wozniak on the email thread said it might be malware and suggested that I report this to the virus and malware removal forum. So I am.

We have 2 companies abc.com and xyz.com and we collect all emails sent to both with our exchange server.
Each user has a abc.com & a xyz.com account and all emails for both come into outlook.

Can we set Outlook so that when we reply to an email sent to mailto:[email protected] it tags it with the correct reply-to address and vice versa for the mailto:[email protected] address?

If we could also change the signature at the same time all the better

One of the email senders gives me links to posts on a website, and when I click on the link in the email message, Firefox always interrupts reaching the page and gives a gray bar at the top with an "Allow" button and a small x next to it.  I click on "Allow" and I can visit the page.  I do not want this to be necessary.  I want to see the page linked from the email message and not need to click the Allow button.  How do I do this?  Where in what options of Firefox do I use?  This has been happening for more than two years, always with up-to-date firefox and Windows.

This is my first time posting on here so I hope this is the right place.

I have attached a spreadsheet I will need to populate and we would like to send staff members an email reminder before they need to do their task. Maybe a day or the morning of the day is fine, as long as they get the reminder. I was just wondering how I would go about doing that?

As the Excel file would need to be opened in order to work , I was also wondering how I would be able to set it to open on the start up of everyones machine. Even if it can only start up the programme then it will be obvious to people what they need to open.

Could the email or subject include as much info as it can. Like name, company, job title and contact number. and for it to be sent to the Asignee.

We will then change the next contact date once completed.

Any help would be appreciated!

Have read through but cannot recall seeing what I want - clicking on WLM forum email links goes straight to Edge and I prefer Chrome as my browser.

Plus now WLM is now being taken away I shall be moving to Thunderbird even though Outlook is being offered free for a year I don't really like Outlook at all and would become a paid for service - so are any email servers automatically set for a certain browser ie Chrome??

I am attaching this excel sheet which has codes on sending email automatically on due date once the file is opened and then closes it as well. However there seems to be a problem as it doesn't send emails automatically and comes up with a error. It would be grateful if someone could correct the codes in the file.

Hi guys,

Is there a way or an add-in that allows my to automatically create calender events from dates that appear in an email, similar to how the mail app on the iphone automatically scans for dates, times and places and creates an event when we click on the dates.

Software USed: Outlook Express

Problem:

When I reply to an e-mail and then close Outlook Express, the message that I replied to is automatically deleted (i.e. when I re-open Outlook express, the message is not there any more!)

I've checked the Delete Folder, and the message is not there either.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

I found that the output's first IP address of tracert is my Cablemodems IP address which can randomly be reassigned.

So I would like to schedule a script that does tracert > C:my_IP.txt and then emails me every 12 hours the result.

Or of course any similar soultion that anybody wants to suggest, so that I can see if my IP is still the same. Of course even better would be a little program that even stores the last found IP address and only emails when it has changed.

Perhaps turning it off in options would resolve the problem:
Turn off and empty Journal - Outlook - Office.com

there are many ways to send photos from phones/cameras to email accounts
 
but these require a lot of fiddling: you have to
 
1. save the photos you have just taken with the phone or camera
 
2. then you have to open the email account through your phone
 
3. then you have to browse for the photos and include them as attachments to email messages.
 
I am looking for an app that can send copies of photos immediately from phone to email account
 
This could be preferably a smart phone but could be a digital camera
 
I would be grateful for any ideas on this.
 
P.S. Skype (Microsoft) recently shut down Qik, which is what I was going to us.

What OS phone or devices do you have? There are different apps for each operating system but a camera will depend on what it supports.

I have setup a rule on my Outlook Express 6 client to automatically forward messages.

However, I would like to forward the original sender and CC information as well. The contents of the email in question should be similar as when the user manually forwards a message.

I'm new here, and kind need your assistant on this spreadsheet. Been searching all over from this forum but non are helpful.

As attached, I created an excel workbook and would like to have excel AUTOMATICALLY send to me and other colleagues as well a reminder to Outlook email which the password going to expire soon WITHOUT opening the workbook. Is it possible?
