Q: Adding numbers between know dates

I need an Excel formula that will add a column of numbers by the date in which they (each number) occurred. The dates and numbers in sequence (which helps). For example, to add all of the monthly payments (by month) that will occur between 10/1/04 and 10/1/05 (in this case one payment per month) what could I use as a formula?

Help would be appreciated as Hurricane Francis blows right over my head here in Orlando.

I have disabled every auto-correct and auto-format option I can find, but Excel still won't stop changing my numbers to dates. If I type 1-2, it automatically changes it to 2-Jan, and so on. I'd really appreciate any suggestions you can offer me. My bio grade appreciates it, too. Thanks.

Hope someone here can help!

I produce a report in excel that has rolling information spanning back over a year and for some reason, between my saving the file with this months data and my boss opening it a day later, all cells containing numbers using general format have been changed to 00:00:00.
Cells that had already been set to a date format were not changed and the data is still available somewhere in the cell as all my graphs are still showing the correct info. Even all numbers on my Y axis are 00:00:00!!!

I have subsequently established today that my colleague is experiencing a similar issue, whereby all data in her reports is being changed to a date format of "dd mmm 1900" whenever it is saved.

In both instances, we have reformatted all cells back to general or number (whichever is suitable) and saved the file, only for it to revert back when we re-open.

I have attached an example which shows just one tab from each of the reports to show an example of what is happening - you will notice that any formulas and graphs are still calculating correctly, it is purely the view that keeps going wrong!!

Any help anyone can offer will be gratefully received.

In Windows XP, WordPerfect 10 tables, suddenly all the dates in the dates column change to numbers. Is this a virus? Or can I do somthing to get my dates back? I deleted the column from the table and then added a new dates column and put back all the dates, and that was fine for two days, and then while adding data to the table, the dates suddenly changed to numbers again. PLEASE HELP!

I would appreciate help with an excel formula. I am not a techie so I would appreciate if responses are as transparent as possible. Column J lists participant start dates and Column K lists participant end dates. There are a myriad of start and end dates and many participants so the sort function does not suffice. I am hoping that it is possible to write a formula in which I can check total participants onsite on any given Monday (or week) of the year. Any help would be great. Thanks very much.

I have a table in which the first column is numbers. Sometimes there is a range eg 3-4 in which Calc auto changes it to a date eg 3-4 becomes 03/04/08

I've tried rummaging through its menus but can't find the solution. Changing the date format for a particular cell makes that cell look ok, but I'd have to do that for individual cells becuase copying it to the whole column spoils those cells which contain a single digit, not a range.

I'm sure there's an obvious solution, but right now I can't find it. Any help will be much appreciated!

Edited to add:

Changing the cell format to text, or All, to avoid it being read as a number, does somethign even stranger, eg 4-5 is changed to 39572

I am having issues with my thunderbolt connecting to an external monitor box (Plugable USB-C) among others and in making sure I have all of the latest drivers I went and installed the latest thunderbolt drivers. The Lenovo link for the Thunderbolt 3 driver for your system - https://pcsupport.lenovo.com/us/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/yoga-series/yoga-920-13ikb/80y7/dow... But when I installed it they said the "new" driver did not install even after I installed it while it was connected and disconnected. I tried about 6 variations of power off/power on/... So I dug in farther. When the drivers installed I looked at the driver version that is printed out on the screen and it shows that it's different than whats on the package. The attached picture shows the driver that it installed is and the dates are May and June of last year. But the install page says it should should be and the dates should be Jan 2018 or maybe Dec. Could this driver install package be messed up? It would explain why I the new drivers are not being installed.  Anyone have any ideas?Ken

I am exporting report data from an accounting program into Excel 2003, then having to change some of the worksheet data into to a specific format (some columns show dates, phone numbers, etc - which need to be converted to text - translation:HEADACHE) and then saving file as ".csv" to submit reports online to another agency. I am pulling my hair out here because it keeps changing to funky formats in the .csv sheet and I find myself back at square one. I am required to do this on a monthly basis, and will soon be submitting a similar file to a different agency, so I will double my headache if I can't get my head wrappred around this.

Any help would be great!!!

Dates are automatically converted to numbers (only in one file). As you can see in the screenshot below, the dates are automatically converted into numbers so somewhere in the document a settings must have changed.

Cell A1 is formatted "mmm./dd/yyyy" (Apr./27/2010)
In cell B1 if I put in formula "=A1+1" I get the "dd" added by one. (Apr./28/2010)
How would I formulate cell B1 to be "A1+1=next month? next year? (May./27/2010) or (Apr./27/2011)?

In short, how do I formula cell B1 to be A1 + month or day or year?

If I use the "edate" formula, it only adds a month to the previous month. Not what I need.

I have list of receipts, with the date in column A, and receipt amount in column F. There are several receipts on any given day. What I'm trying to do is work out the sum of receipts up to yesterday, to give me a balance carried forward to which I can add today's takings, giving total receipts for the month.

The way I've tried doing this is as follows:

=SUMIF('[Receipts - February.xlsx]Daily Receipts'!$A$6:$A$399,"<A4",'[Receipts - February.xlsx]Daily Receipts'!$F$6:$F$399)

Where A4 is todays date. It's giving me nil value, which I can clearly see is wrong. How do I work out the total receipts before a given date?

HI all, I am new to this sit and I am looking for some help. I am looking for a way to add a PDF calendar to outlook and have the dates in the PDF link to the calendar in outlook. I am not sure how or if this is possible, If it isn't possible is there a way to add excel or word docs with dates and be able to send them so add attachments that can link to the recipients outlook calendar.

I'm working on a filter to show which Drawing Changes are overdue by selecting check boxes that have certain overdue periods. (e.g. 1-14 days past due, 15-30 day past due, 31-60 days, etc.) I'm not very good at VBA but I'm using some code I have from a search form I used a while ago that has a date filter. I'm confident I can figure out the code for the filter, but I'm not sure how to say what I want to happen in VBA code. What I want the filter to read is this:

If 1-14 days is checked, include entries that (Due Date + 14days) >= Today's date
If 15-30 days is checked, include (Due Date + 30days) >= Today's date AND (Due date +14days) < Today's date
and so on.

I'm using Access 2010 on Windows XP

I have a company that sends people out into the field, the job may take more than one day and they may sell the same and different items each day. I am looking for an easy way to total these things up. I know Excel pretty well, but I can't figure out macros. What I would like to do is;be able to input Item #'s, have it look up the Description (which I know how to do), then I enter amount used, then on the side somewhere have it "auto sort" and "auto total" in either format as shown in Option #1 or #2 (I would really like it to show Option #2 & 1) Then I can review it with each item listed in order and give it to my secretary to enter into my invoicing program.

Is there some way to make it so page numbers display on the printed pages of an Adobe .pdf file? I converted a Word document to .pdf, but the Word document did not have the numbered pages. I now want to add the numbers in Adobe Reader, but it looks like I'll have to go back to the original Word document, add headers which include the page number, and then re-convert it to .pdf. Is that correct? If I could do it within Adobe Reader, that would be preferable.

The file is a creation from an original Word file, the page numbers would need to exist in the Word file.

It would be a nightmare if in creating a PDF it was able to assign new printed page numbers as these would often not align with the original document and TOC's would be incorrect.

I have a new 11e laptop, 3rd Generation. Everything was working good. All of a sudden, the keyboard when typing only the middle row letters of "a,s,d,f, j, k, l, ;" a number will be added in front or to the back of the letter. All other keys are typing fine. I have checked for anything NumLock that could be related to causing this. Nothing in BIOS Set. Checked keyboard settings - the correct language is set. I tried to press FN+F11 and nothing. I turned on the online keyboard and clicked on NumLock there and turned it off, that did not fix it. I attached an external keyboard, that types fine. Turned on and off num lock, that did not fix it. I did a restore back to a date before it happened, that did not fix it. I just reimaged the laptop and that did not fix it. Any suggestions would be much appreciated!

Im using windows 10 totally updated version and the problem im facing is that windows keeps adding numbers after my WiFi name/SSID and the number keeps on increasing. In Network Connections you can right click on the connection name and select Rename and call it whatever you wish (within reason). About a year ago, I created an input form that contains a subform in which are listed all the contributions of a member of the organization. Under the subform -- IN THE MAIN FORM, not within the subform -- I had placed a field that summed the contributions for that individual, and another field that displayed the domain sum (DSum) for all contributions. Both have worked perfectly every since.

The field that sums the contributions for the individual used the formula "=[Contributions subform].[Form]![ContribSum]". The field that does the domain sum is "=DSum("Contribution","Contributions")+IIf(DSum("MatchAmt","Contributions") Is Not Null,DSum("MatchAmt","Contributions"),0). I removed the field "MatchAmt" from the table, and changed the DSum statement to just "DSum ("Contribution","Contributions").

After doing that, both field yield only "#Error". Part of my puzzlement is the field "ContribSum". It is not a field in either table, and is nowhere in either form. I haven't the foggiest where it is or why the formula refers to it. I tried using just "=Sum([Contributions.subform].Form![Contribution]), but that for some reason reports only the first contribution; doesn't add all of them up.

So my question is, how does one sum number fields in a subform in a field OUTSIDE of the subform/in the host form?

Put the "=" back in front of DSum, so that it says this:

The "#Error" means that Access is trying to do some sort of operation that it can't pull off.

As for your sum question, it's cagey, unless you can program a little. The workaround is this:
In the subform, show the form footer. There should be a control there called ContribSub, I'm guessing, from your post. If not, make one.
Set its control source to


Once you're sure the subform sum is working, you can set the Visible property of the form footer to false. That way you don't see your total down there.
Now you can build a control source on the master form whose control source is set to

=[Contributions subform].[Form]![ContribSum]

As for why your other attempt wasn't working (the one that goes like "=Sum([Contributions.subform].Form![Contribution])"), you must remember that Access maintains only one "active" record at a time, per form or subform. So your control wasn't lying; I'll bet changing records in the subform would prove that. But it's only adding the total of the active record--this is the big difference from a report, where there are no active records.

I am using batch manager in Omnipage Professional 17 to convert batch of PDF files to text files using Omnipage.

Now the problem is i want to add some indicator specifying page numbers to separate different pages of PDF files in my text file.

as an example suppose there is an PDF file with 5 pages getting converted to a single text file using Omnipage then i want to add page number in my text file to separate each page content available in PDF file pages.

I went through help docs of batch manager but do not find any configuration option to do this.

I've got tens of thousands of such numbers, thats why it has to be done automatically.

Hello group,

I wasn't quite sure how to word the subject line. I would like to be able to add a number to column A everyday and have the cumulative sum of column A show in column B in the adjacent cell so I can chart it. So it would look something like this:

I think it's something to do w/the SUM function but I can't quite figure it out. Any help much appreciated.

Hi – I need some help.

I have a log that lists the start date and end date of my fleet of cars. I want to be able to tell how many cars we had in our fleet on any day (and then be able to average out the number of vehicles in a month)

What I have is two columns with the first containing the start date of the car and the second containing the termination date of the car.

Note - I am using dates in the format DD/MM/YYYY

I am using outlook contacts and would like to add phone fields to the phone numbers in the detailed address view e.g. another mobile , home 3 , business 3 , packet 8 etc...
I tried everything and consulted every book , but no way . The addition will show up if I switch to phone list , but not in the detailed view .

Once again I'm reaching out to the TSG forums for help. I have a column (bid request date) and another column (bid approved date). In my pivot table I have a count of these by my team members. # of Bids Submitted and # of Bids Approved and I want to add another column into the pivot table, "Approval rate" which divides the # of Approved by # of submitted. I have a whole column of dates in this format in my table: 20080602

I want my macro to change the format of the dates from this 8-digit number string, into a date format that Excel can recognize (6/02/2008). Once the dates are re-formatted, I then want to have the macro select rows with dates that are up to four days of age only for the new report.

Here is what I've got to format the dates. When I run it, the macro stops at this point and tells me to debug, telling me I have a 'syntax error'. A what?

Selection.Format = Date(left(a1,4), mid(a1,3,2), right((a1,2))
Once I do get the dates right, how would I get it to select dates that are up to four business days in age only? This is what I thought I should use, but it doesn't work:

Selection.Format >=today()-4

I don't think that you can do what you want using the Format function as you have tried to do it. You are on the right lines with the Left, Mid and Right though.
in another column put this in a Cell on the same row as A1
=mid(a1,5,2) & "/" & right(a1, 2) & "/" & left(a1,4)
If that gives you the correct "look" then Drag that formula down the rest of the rows with Dates in. Then copy the whole Range of new look dates and Paste Special>Values over the first cell in that Range or in a new column and you should now have your Dates.
In the next column type in the first cell
= if(today() - Celladdress <= 4, "Yes", "")
Where celladdress is the cell with you first "Proper" Date.
This will place a "yes" in the column wherever the date is within 4 Days.
If this is not satisfacory and you really need to have a Macro to do this you can use the same "Formatting" in the Macro, but you will require a "For/Next or For/Each loop" to do it.

I don't know if the title is a good one for this problem, but here goes.

I have a column that has numbers in this format: 54321-1234

Now, I want to take off the last 4 numbers, and the dash, from all the numbers in the column, using a formula. So that the output would be: 54321.

I want it so the first 5 numbers stay the same, but the dash and last 4 are gone. Is this possible?

"I have 4 x HDDs on SATA AHCI (Intel Controller) in Native Mode and 1 x ESATA on Win 7 Pro X64.
I noted that looking in Admin. Tools\Computer Management\Storage (as an example) the 1st HDD (Port 0 in the AHCI BIOS) is showing as "Disk 2" instead of my expectation of

"Disk 1".
Selecting the Drive's Properties correctly shows the "Location 0 (Channel 0, Target 0, Lun 0)".
I also note that the Disk Number allocation in Windows will change randomly after some reboots/startups - going anywhere from "Disk 1" to "Disk 4".  I can force/replicate this

behaviour by removing the ESATA drive.
Is this expected behaviour?
It doesn't appear to create any operating issues at this stage, however, is there a way I can force the Drive to always map to (eg) Device 0 --> Disk 1, Device 1 --> Disk 2,

I have three SATA hard drives :
Main system/boot drive , WD Caviar Black 1 TB, connected to the SATA 0 port
A backup drive, identical WD Caviar Black 1 TB, connected to the SATA 1 port
Another dirve, Hitachi 1 TB, connected to the SATA 2 port
When I installed Win 7, only the main drive was connected... and it remains the only drive with active/system/boot partitions.

All three drives reporr correctly in the BIOS, and in the right order, but why is it that only one of the drive (the one on SATA port 1) has a "SATA:" prefix and the others have a "HDD:" prefix ?

Why is it that the assignment of Disk #0, 1, 2 ( as seen in Disk Maanger or DiskPart) does not seem to have nay rhyme or reason?

I would have expected:

- the hardrive connected to SATA port O, to be assigned as Disk 0
- the hardrive connected to SATA port 1, to be assigned as Disk 1
- the hardrive connected to SATA port 2, to be assigned as Disk 2

but instead, I have:

- the hardrive connected to SATA port 2, is assigned as Disk 0
- the hardrive connected to SATA port 0, is assigned as Disk 1
- the hardrive connected to SATA port 1, is assigned as Disk 2

Just curious why that is.

I am assuming there is no way to chagne this. Its not something I would dream of reinstalling Windows 7 to correct ( even if it did correct it).

Best advice, leave it alone. It may bother your (and others) sense of order but it won't affect how anything works, and no re-installing Windows won't change it.

I was checking my program and software list and at the top of the list I noticed two (2) sets of numbers that I have never seen before. I checked the internet to see if I could find out what they were. It kept taking me to sites for spyware, adware,etc. I could not find out what they were or why they are on my system. I do not want to remove them until I know what they are. I have not noticed any problems with my system, but I do not know what might be going on behind the sceen. The numbers are listed as follows:

Both are legit and not malware.

I have Windows XP, with Wordpad v5.1 and Notepad v5.1 as well. In Notepad, if I toggle off Word Wrap, I can then toggle on the Status Bar, and it shows me the line and column number in the status bar. It does not look like Wordpad has the ability to show line and column numbers. Does anyone know if there is a way to show that in Wordpad? Thanks.

I have been given four transcripts of telephone calls recorded at a call centre. All at different times on the same day. Two have the same callID number. The sequence of the numbers attributed to each call are odd. The first call has a higher number than later calls and the last two are also out of order. I am not sure if this is the right forum but i am desperate for some help. The transcripts are VERY important and I cannot be sure that they are the real deal because of the callID numbers. Any suggestions? Thank you in advance.

I have some reference books I use and in all of them I have this problem:

The number written on the document pages doesn't match the number my pdf reader says, and for every document it has a different offset. That is, for example when I go to page 16, then on the page itself it's written that it's page 5 and not 16.

It's an annoying problem.
Is there any way to fix this by changing the pdf numbering or is there any workaround?

Hi, so far i have managed to make my program so that it prints out the odd numbers between two inputted numbers but i need it to print the sum of them?
This is what i have:

There are several issues that came up when I upgraded to Windows 10. While it is a celebrated and supposedly eye pleasing application, it seems that they have chosen to disregard users and deleted certain preferences from a user's browser.  This makes
it practically impossible for the user to log into several accounts, since every single site requires different types of passwords, and in order for a person to be able to log on to the several accounts, a person would have to carry around a folder with about
100 different account names, user names, passwords, answers to who, what, or where, phone #s & other pertinent information to be able to log onto or recover a lost or forgotten password.I really do not like what Microsoft has done with the new browser.
It looks chick, but to me it's unworkable and a nuisance to use.  If the Cadillac is not broken, why fix it?
