Q: Mailbox causes my computer to freeze...

I use Netscape mail and after installing the new version 7.1, my mail is occasionally freezing the computer. It can happen when I open new mail, when I move mail or when I delete mail. I have deleted all the msf files and also uninstalled Netscape and re-installed. This happens 6/7 times daily....any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Hello everyibe,
We have a hydride infrastructure, with E2016 onpremise and O365 (Exchange, teams...). On both sites we have the same users and separate created mailboxes.
We are migrating mailboxes from Ex2016 to O365 in phases to remove E2016.
Users on both sites have the same mailbox name. Example: E2016 [email protected] and O365 mailbox [email protected]
 
Issue:
When we migrate a user's mailbox to O365 and from ExchangeOnline we send an email to a non-migrated user, the email reaches the existing mailbox in O365, not the onpremise mailbox.
 
An alias has been created for non-migrated users in O365, marking themselves as main and we have tried to delete the default email address given by the username. But even if the latter is deleted, the deleted email address always appears, so the email always
reaches O365 and not E2016.

Is there any way that when a user with a migrated O365 mailbox sends an email to a user with a mailbox in E2016 onpremise, the email does not go to the O365 mailbox and to the onpremise mailbox?
 
What would be the solution to keep the default username (for teams solutions, etc) and to be able to modify the email in O365?

Hello

For about a week or two my laptop has been running slower than normal on the start up which I put down to the age of the machine (2 years) and it didn't really bother me.

Then, this week, three things made me question my computer security. I use Gmail for everything to the point where any other e-mail addresses I have are managed from there.
I had an e-mail from Blizzard to say that my account was locked after I tried to reconnect "recently"
I had an e-mail from graze saying that I had tried to reactivate my account
shortly after sending an e-mail with an attachment I found that an e-mail with the same attachment had been sent to "undisclosed recipients" and then moved to the trash

--I haven't tried to reconnect to my Blizzard account.
--I haven't tried to reactivate my graze account. Also, the email address I signed up to the graze service with is different from my main e-mail address, but graze sent their most recent e-mail to my main account.

This and the attachment e-mail that I found in the "trash" make me suspicious. I wonder if anyone here could help me with this?

I haven't done any major security checks in a while on this computer, but I regularly run Ccleaner and an evaluation copy of PC Tools Registry Mechanic. I have Avira Free Antivirus installed.

Description:

if a program i run is freezing, the whole computer freezes to the point where i can't input anything except Alt-Control-Delete but if i chose "Task Manager" it does not open on the front, but i can see it on the taskbar, i can even see the vista sidebar ticking but i cannot contol anything that happens.

it only happens when a program enters an infinite loop (or becoming idle any other way)...
when i program, and my program freezes, i have to restart the computer (sometimes clicking log-off on the Alt-Control-Delete works, but sometimes it doesn't)
since i like to program, i can't restart the computer every time my program freezes, and it is a huge hassle to restart the pc every time my computer freezes

i already tried fixing the registry with tuneup registry scanner and i thought about system restore but it turns out i don't have any system restore points

like the title say the computer fan go nuts and the computer freeze right after, now illl try to explain what i did before it happend.
i just got a Geforce2 MX 400(AGP) for the computer, after installing it in my computer and clicking power, i notice blue lines going down my screen on computer startup and windows loading screen, after switching colors and resolution the lines were no more, still everything was working fine at the point(im guessing), then i went and downloaded the driver for the card(not sure if it was the PCI or AGP one) and they asked for a reboot, clicked i wanted to reboot later and i proceed to go in options and change resolution again, after switching resolution everything was still fine at that point, after opening internet and going on facebook my fan started to go crazy and computer froze, after rebooting again my computer rebooted by itself, now everytime i start the computer with the card in the fan go crazy and freeze the computer, the fan still turn and make loud noises even after freeze occur, i now removed the card and wont put it back unless i know what is making this thing go nuts.
i have windows xp 32bits, 500MB of ram and a 300w powersupply.

Hi there,
I'm using Windows XP on a Dell Dimension 4700. Internet Explorer freezes up after 5-10 minutes of use - CTRL-ALT-DEL usually doesn't work - have to reboot. Recently, am unable to open c-drive, Control Panel or My Computer by double clicking. An error box comes up that says: Trial has Expired. You have exceeded your trial period. This evaluation version will no longer function. Please click on the "order button" to purchase your licensed version or the "Quit" button to exit.

Then it gives two options to click: ORDER and QUIT

When I click on Order to see what this is about, it takes me to a Paint Shop Pro page to order. I have an "ORIGINAL" version of Paint Shop Pro that I bought, so I don't know what this trial version is about.

I ran Norton 360 and it didn't catch any viruses. I ran Avast free version and it found some viruses which were fixed. I was unable to run either of these virus protection programs in safe mode so just ran them in normal mode.

I ran Malwarebyes in Safe Mode and it found various problems (Trojan Dropper, Trojan BHO, some Adware issues, etc.).

I'm still having problems. Please help. I'm a rookie user.

My computer has lock-ups every so often where I will have to manually re-boot.  Lately, in the past week or so I've noticed that when I boot my computer it works very hard (i can hear it working) but it takes 7-10 minutes until I can open and programs, internet, etc.   My desktop boots normal very quickly, I just can't access anything until the computer (works hard) for the 7-10 minutes.. then it seems to slow down or (catch up finally) and I can access stuff.    When I do have a computer freeze.. (few times a week) sometimes It will just freeze and sometimes it will freeze and a contant beep will sound.

HI, I am really desperate. And this problem has gone on for ages. PLEASE HELP. I may need ongoing support to sort it out, as it needs explaining.

It is my Outlook Express Mailbox. it is a NIGHTMARE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have over 238 messages, and cannot seem to delete them. I SEEM to be able to delete the few at the bottom, but they seem to reappear above, and I can see emails from WAY back when up there. A LONG scroll up!!
They keep reappearing. So it is like this weird game of as I am deleting them they keep appearing at the top of the scroll.

I recently joined two email lists, and so its gotten even more chaos. but earilier I got spammed by the mailbox automatic reply with loads of emails that haven't been able to get through and the warning 'MAIL BOX IS FULL!!!'

Please can anyone have patience and help me with this??? A couple of people have tried in the past but lost interest and I was left stranded with same problem.

Well now i REALLY want to understand what's wrong with my mailbox, and how to sort it out for good.

When going to MAIL in netscape, if there is mail waiting, I get the following ALERT message: Unable to write the email to the mailbox. Make sure the file system allows you write privileges and you have enough disk space to copy the mailbox. Where and how do I check on this write privilege? Is this something that should be included with Vista. On installing a new USB modem, (data,fax, voice) after software installation could not get in to setup mailbox, error message "could not find mailbox manager". Is there a fix for this or is this an aftermarket addon. Has anybody had the opportunity to installa dta, fax, voice modem yet??
Either USB or PCI would suffice if I can get one that will work. Please advise.

I just now registered here because in trying to resolve an email problem I found a thread that was a couple of years old on this website that mentioned the same issue, but it didn't appear to be fixed at the time. I was migrating from a Windows 7 PC to a Windows 8 and everything transferred smoothly -- documents, photos, music, etc. Then I tried to set up my email. I entered all of the info (account, imap, smtp, etc.) and it all seemed to work -- and then all hell broke loose with about 100 messages saying I'd exceeded my mailbox quota. Looks like spam, and I marked it as junk, deleted it, removed it from the trash, etc. Did the same thing on the ISP website, and identified it as span there. Also checked to make sure the "leave a copy of messages on the server" was unchecked and cleaned out the other folders of things that were old. I've gone folder by folder to make one of them isn't stockpiling messages and there are none. It simply isn't possible that I'm exceeding my quota. I'm also getting messages (also from "admin," which Suddenlink say isn't them) that legit messages are being "bounced" because my mailbox is full. One of those just came in, so I'm hoping someone can help me figure out what the problem is, because my ISP (Suddenlink) has no idea what's going on. I've pasted it below the line. Help???

I use Windows Live mail for email. My server is Verizon. About once a week I get a message advising that my mailbox is almost full. I have deleted every frigging thing I can find from the Verizon webmail site, but it still shows me using 85% of my space.

I have been with verizon for 20 years and never had this problem in the past. These warnings began in 2014 and I have had messages returned to sender because the server was full.

I get that verizon is my server and Windows Live mail is the client, but how do I free up server space? Obviously, deleting messages isn't working. There has to be a ton of messages hidden somewhere that I'm not smart enough to find.

Note my username. A step by step method would be greatly appreciated.

Can anyone help with mailbox size problems.

We are on a ISDN network(?) and cannot move message to folders. Can open but can't do anything else. Tech Support says that there is no more space, but that it could be a virus, corrupted or hard drive is dying. Is there anyway we can do something about this problem? I have a friend who is connected to Earthlink (56K modem) and, I believe, is entitled to 8 additional mailboxes. She wishes to allow her daughter, who lives across town, to share her connection. What is the procedure for each of them to follow? I realize that if they were to get online at the same time there would be a conflict. However, since Earthlink has additional local lines, were that to happen couldn't one of them merely switch to another line? TIA.

Help!! I'm using Outlook express 6 and have received an email to say i am over my limit for messages. I've then deleted most of the messges but then received another email saying my mailbox is now closed as i have exceeded my limit!! That message is coming from your mail server (your service provider), you probably have OE set to leave copies of messages on the server.

Log in to your providers webmail, check the state of your inbox there & delete messages if necessary.

If you want to remove this option to prevent it happening in future check the options under Tools->Accounts->Mail, on your mail account click Properties & under the Advanced tab clear the checkmark from "Leave a copy of messages on server"

Hi Tech Guys and Gals,

My friends company is using Microsoft Fax to send and receive faxes. They have just implemented MS Exchange and would like to get faxes sent to a central mailbox and be able to send through exchange. Does anyone know this process or know of a good guide on how to do this?

Google is not giving me much love on this one, unless I pay for a 3rd party application.

We us GFI FaxMaker they have a web site. It integrates well with exchange. I think its about $1500 but very robust. We used Brooktrout cards to hook up phone lines to servers they were around $3000 I'm sure there are other solutions but we were looking for the best.

First let me compliment you on a great site!! Great info to learn and help people with. My donation is forthcoming.

I am a novice but I am trying to save my company some $ by not calling their IT consultants out to do this. We have a user account in Active Directory named Development. We do not want to change the name of the account but we want to change the e-mail addresses associated with the account because we have a new employee who is taking over that position and we want her e-mail to be changed to her name (i.e. jmahoney) but her logon will still be Development.

What would be the best way to do this?

I right click the user name and go to properties:

On the General Tab: Should I change the Display name from Development to the new user name (Jmahoney) and the email: from [email protected] to [email protected]?

Also, on the E-mail addresses tab:

Should I edit the following:

I have a customer service account on the server that an employee uses along with her regular email account. For some reason she cant get those emails and when I re-created teh account, now she shows 2 CS mailboxes under her main mailbox and both of the CS folders willnot open, it says they nolonger exsist. I want to delete them and start over but It will not allow me to delete them from her outlook.

I am using windows XP with both OE and Outlook mail boxes.

I get the usual messages telling me that my mail box is oversize and correct this by deleting messages.

I know the maximum size of my mail boxes but I can not fine any way of checking the size of the contents at any given time.

Does anyboby know if it is possible to do this?

With Outlook open, look on the left side under "Outlook Shortcuts". Right Click on the Folder that you want to know the size of and Click "Properties". Look towards the Bottom Left of the "Properties" window that opens and Click on the "Folder Size" button. That should do it.

I have had trouble with Outlook over the last week. The problem is I was on a MS exchange server and had a mailbox. I won't be on the exchange server any more. I have all my information on my pc locally in my mailbox. I want to move everything from one pc to another. I have Archived my items to include everything older than today. But the Archive doesn't include everything up to today. Three months out of date. I have tried to export my Mailbox but Outlook keeps telling me I cannot do that because the file is not a .pst

I am running Exchange 2000 and have a user that set up the out of office assistant when he was on vacation. When he returned he found out that he couldn't turn this feature off from Outlook. He gets the error message: "The command is not available".

I'm assuming that his exchange rules are corrupted but, how do I fix his mailbox?

Windows XP. Eudora crashed yesterday while reading inbox. Suspected virus, but installed Norton missed it (and could not find anything today when scanning individual folder). I deleted folder knowing Eudora would build another. Moved deleted folder out of recycle bin. Tried a couple of online scans with no joy.
Folder is too big (4.2M) to send to Kaspersky.
Need I scan whole drive and forward log when I know it is this folder. I want to clear the offending virus out so that I can restore the remaining messages to new inbox.

Do you suspect a virus or did your av say you had a virus ?
If you know the folder it is in then run an online scan on that folder and see if anything shows up if it does thaen post the results here

I have been using 8.1 Mailbox now since the update, but strangely the go-to function within the e-mail text has stopped working. Anything outside the text seems to work well, but even though highlighted the information within the text frame is inactive.

Would welcome any information on how to correct this.

Have since discovered these go-to functions are called Hyperlinks and the best way of reactivating them is the deletion of certain registry keys. That is Run: Regedit HKEY CURRENT USER\Software\Classes\CLSID. Deletion of those keys beginning 8---. I have done this but the Hyperlinks still don't work, do I delete all the items in this class?

There is a user that claims they have a missing .pst file. I cannot find any .pst files on the hard drive except a like 265k .pst. There is really nothing in it. They said none of the mail in their Outlook box on the server has this info in it. Is there a way to recover 1 mailbox from the Exchange Server or what else can be done to locate the mail. Would the .ost give more info?

Hi Folks, a bizarre thing has happened to my Lotus Notes mail box. My Notes Navigation pane which would house shortcuts to sent items or personal mail files has disappeared. Any ideas? I have made no changes to account.

Hello Everybody,

I was just wondering how various people and companies manage their mailboxes, do you just set a warning message in the mailbox get to a certain size.

Anyone prohibit sending when the mailbox reaches a certain limit.

How many of us archive off to PST instead of a bespoke Exchange archiving system.

How do you keep a check on your mailbox size, and how many mailboxes do you have, both live and dormant.

I would be interested to hear all of your views.

I am using Outlook Express 6. I have 2 laptops and am connected to my HP Home Server. I would like to store mail on the server so that when I access mail from either computer I see the same mailbox storage.

Is there some way I can accomplish this?

The easiest way would be to create a new distribution group in Active Directory and add the users who will be receving the forwarded e-mail in that new group. Then set the E-mail forward feature to forward to the new distribution group

Hi

Client of mine has 4 different email accounts, they are :

[email protected]

[email protected]

[email protected]
admin and accounts on one PC

admin and chris on the other PC

admin and operations on the third PC

Only admin is shared on those 3 PCs.

Recently I reapet recently this happen when the client send an email from chris to operation only, this email goes to account as well,,,,means it goes to operation and account ,,,,why this happens ?

Client is using outlook 2003 and email is POP3,,,,,no Exchange server is used

are the accounts "accounts" and "operations" a child of another account or each other. in other words, in some web hosting services, you can have you email accounts as a sub account of one account... in your case, you might be sending to operations an email, but since operations is a sub account of "accounts" then it is SHOWED in accounts too...

When creating new user accounts, it appears as though the Exchange mailbox is created. However after going into MS Exchange > System Manager and viewing the mailboxes, it doesn't show up. Nor does it show up in windows explorer.

One other thing, under Recipients > Recipient Policies > Email addresses (Policy) tab, X.400 is checked off along with SMTP as one of the generation rules. Now when the user is created, an X.400 address isn't generated automatically, only an SMTP one. So when I try to setup Outlook, it can't verify the person's alias, because it says it doesn't exist. When i created accounts before, it created both an SMTP and an X.400 address, now for some reason it doesn't.

Any ideas???

Hi,

I have set a pst as a default inbox in outlook 2007 and I use Microsoft vista. Due to this, i have two issues with the calendar
- the meeting invite sent by me (am being organizer) is not showing up in my calendars (pst and mailbox)
- if a meeting is cancelled, the invitation gets removed from pst calendar but shows as cancelled invite in mailbox calendar (the invite is not getting removed/deleted).

Can anyone help me?

I experienced an unusual occurence when moving exchange mailboxes from a NT4.0 Xchng 5.5 to a W2K server Xchng 5.5.
These mailboxes are for remote locations connecting thru modems

1. In groups of 10, I disabled "Grant dial in permission to user" (to make sure they didn't dial in during the transfer)
2. Moved mailboxes from Xchng srvr NT to Xchng srvr W2K
3. Confirmed the mailboxes were on new Xchng srvr W2K
4. Enabled "Grant dial in permission to user"

I had made mailbox moves within the LAN and had no problems.

RESULT:
1. Some of the locations are having no problem connecting to their mailbox (on new Xchng srvr W2K).
2. Others we have to walk thru "Dialup Networking" (user name / password / domain). When they opened their Xchng. NOT GOOD!

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Did you also import the user accounts into the Win2K server or is the NT box still acting as domain controller? The Exchange server might be set up to look locally for the account information when validating email accounts.

 Hello distinguished colleagues. I have watched my mailbox fill up, despite my efforts to clean out Inbox, and all of my other folders..I am now full and not able to send or receive messages.This is on my work computer, so I am losing money and clients as I type.I became so frustrated I cleaned out every folder, (probably a big mistake), but it had no effect on volume of mailbox. We have an IT guy who naturally is unavailable, and I am out of ideas. I am on a network and no one else is experiencing this problem. I am running Windows 7 professional, in conjunction with Outlook 2010.
 Any help or thoughts would be greatly appreciated. I am not sure I can send this e-mail, so I may be copying this and commandeering a fellow workers computer, to get this to BC.

Have you tried setting up rules so offending emails can be deleted ?

In worst case, you could set up a negative filter...one which deletes everything you haven't specifically said you want...
 
Another alternative would be to switch over to gmail (you can set up domain email to forward to gmail and subsequently set up gmail so that the email looks like it's coming from your domain) ... there are a variety of ways of blocking emails...you will probably want to look at the routing information of the problematic emails ...

I have had trouble with a users account not being able to log on and after a lot of investigation came to the conclusion that it would be easier to create a new user.
The mistake I made was that I created a new mailbox as well with the same username as the old one. The rest of the profile/user account works fine with 2 exceptions.

1: There are now 2 mailboxes with the users name and I've tried reconnecting to the old mailbox through Exchange manager with no Luck. The old mailbox is still visable. She can access her new mailbox but needs access to all her old emails.

2: Everytime the user logs on and tries to open Outlook, the locations settings are gone. I have to reconnect to the server thru the mail settings.

We create new users on a regular basis and haven't had this problem before. Any help would be much apprecitedUser mailbox connections
