I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I have a Black screen issue on an Idea Centre B320. But unlike others on here it really is completely Black, as in no cursor, no logo, nothing! Although Windows loads in the background. Things started happening after the Win 10 upgrade, screen kept going blank, shook mouse, screen back on so thought it was a power save issue that needed adjustment. Then one day it just stayed off, every time i reboot, nothing. Can't boot in to safe mode as screen is completely blank, tried all the keyboard tricks F2 e.t.c, nothing works, i can even get the voice narrator working so can basically log in blind and the start screen loads in the background. Voice narrator informs me that all the screen icons are there so everything is working apart from the screen! One tech guy reconed it was a hardware problem and i'd need a new motherboard at a cost of 200... however, another tech guy said, 'it's a software problem relating to Win 10... so, who is right, and what can i do about it?! Please help if anyone can as it's an amazing piece of kit with a large screen, at the moment i am using a refurb Dell latitude which is absolute crap, so i want the Lenovo up and running again as soon a possible! Any ideas? Regards, Steve.

Is there a DOS or command line Antivirus scanner that can be used on a PC that won't boot in Normal or Safe mode, VGA mode, or last known good configuration? The PC is a Dell laptop that belongs to a friend. He does not have any recovery CD's. It has XP Home installed and continually reboots after the Windows Splash Screen. I found evidence of several malware infections by booting the BARTPE CD that I made and looking at the files on the hard drive. I installed the Recovery Console and tried the basic recovery commands, but they did not help.

A:Constantly Reboots After Windows Splash Screen.

The Ultimate Boot CD has some anti-virus tools - but I'm not sure about updating the definitions.See if this will get the computer to boot. Insert the Windows XP CD into the CD drive, and then restart the computer. Click to select any options that are required to start the computer from the CD drive if you are prompted. When the "Welcome to Setup" screen appears, press R to start the Recovery Console. If you have a dual-boot or multiple-boot computer, select the installation that you must access from the Recovery Console. When you are prompted, type the Administrator password. If the administrator password is blank, just press ENTER.Type: chkdsk /rIt's important to have a space before the "/".To exit the Recovery Console and restart the computer, type exit at the command prompt, and then press ENTER.I'm not sure, but DrWebCureIt might run from the BartPE CD.

Hi guys,

I'm experiencing a strange problem on my secondary desktop (the crappy Alienware). Randomly, the machine restarts within a mere 5 minutes of it running.

It also restarts just sitting on the login screen, so it doesn't only happen when someone is logged in. It, of course, doesn't do this in Safe Mode.

Hey guys!

I have an MSI GL62 7RD laptop with Windows 10 that I bought back in December. Earlier today, the touchpad suddenly stopped working. A short while after that, the keyboard failed. Luckily, it still recognized my USB mouse, so after googling the problem for a while, I decided to "reset to factory settings" instead of opening it up and fiddling with the keyboard and mouse connectors.
Just as it was shutting down it flashed a bluescreen. All I could read in the time it flashed was that it encountered something, but was gonna take care of it on its own and restart. Didn't think much of it (maybe it's a part of the reset)... It shut off and then rebooted, and has been stuck with a black screen and the fans at a medium speed (like it's powering on but stuck with something) for about four hours.

I'm all out of ideas, and I'm scared to mess it up more than it already is.
Please help me!

Right before it all started I was:
Playing BeamNG.
Downloading BeamNG mods.
Plugging in an Xbox One controller which the computer downloaded drivers for.

Since the touchpad/keyboard failure and black screen I have:
Tried to force a reboot once. Nothing changed.

Edit: English is not my first language so if there are any terms or expressions that are wrong here, please excuse me, and I will try to clarify them for anyone who asks.

Edit 2: The reboot thing might be more of a software than hardware problem, but it all started with the hardware

Very frustrating problem I'm having. I have a multi-monitor setup (not sure if this is the cause of this issue as I have multi monitors on my other machines).

Sometimes an application will freeze (hey, it happens) and I'll do a ctrl-alt-del, then hit task manager.

Then everything goes black.

I can see my mouse and can move it around, but that's it. I cant see anything else, and they keyboard seems to have no effect. In the end, I have to power down my machine from the power button.

I've tested this a few times...it's not just task manager. It's ANYTHING (change password, switch user, etc). Just goes all black. Not pitch black, but the screens go completely dark but I can see and move my (white) mouse icon.

This sucks! Help!

So i did the first option on win8 factory reset. It then said restarting.. and the screen turned off while the pc was on. The noises on the pc were normal but the screen wasnt supposed to go black. I left it for 12 hours and it was doing the same thing, which isnt normal for a simple format. I turned off the pc, unplugged waited for a bit and turned on and same thing, which probably was a big mistake. The same has been happening. I really dont want to end up on my countries services, if theres something i can do please reply. Thanks alot

When you first boot up do you see the spinning circle or is the screen black?

Do you see the OEM logo like HP or Dell at boot?  What is the make and model of the computer?

Do you have access to another computer to download software?

Do you need personal data off the computer.

So a symbol that looks a lot like the Numlock/Capslock notice has recently appeared in the bottom centre of my screen and won't go away. It appears to be some sort of representation of my mousepad (big square over two little rectangles) with a line through it? Anyway, I've tried to get rid of it by going toControl Panel>Screen Resolution>On Screen Display But according to that,  On Screen Display isn't even enabled, and when I try and change any of the settings I just keep getting a notice about how Windows can't find the file. Any guesses as to what this is and how to get rid of it?

This just started today. Windows Media Centre keeps opening up all the time, every few minutes or so. But it's always if I'm doing something. Just closed a program? Windows Media Centre opens. Just saved something? Windows Media Centre opens. Minimizing Firefox to get ready to open something else? You guessed it.

But if the computer is idle it won't happen. There is also nothing else apparently wrong with the computer.

I never use Windows Media Centre so I wouldn't even mind getting rid of it but I don't know if Windows Media Player relies on it which I do use for certain video formats from time to time. So unless someone says otherwise, I'd rather just disable it as opposed to removing it.

Does anyone know how I can disable it? The only single tutorial I could find involved stopping a service that simply isn't in my list of services.

A:Windows Media Centre opening by itself constantly

You go to Programs and Features in Control Panel. On the left side you will se Turn Windows features on or off. Box pops up and when populated you will see a list of features under Media Features. You can then uncheck Windows Media Center without afecting Windows Media Player.

Long story short, someone I know bought a laptop. The seller told them they'd need a new hard drive. I took a look at it and found it was riddled with malware and adware. Couldn't even login to the account without getting a black screen+mouse cursor. So after going into safe mode and uninstalling a few programs and running ADWCleaner, I've been able to login to the main account normally.

I'm running malwarebytes and MSE right now, but since they don't want all this extra data anyway, I figured I'd just wipe everything. The problem is that when I go to system restore, or system reset, or when I try to use the HP recovery tools, it goes to a loading screen, and then a black screen with a cursor. Forever. I'm at a bit of a loss as to what could be breaking every recovery option.

That said, I'm also wondering if the reset option will reinstall Windows 8 without needing an installation disc or anything like that. I've seen yes and no in different places, so I'm no longer sure.

Here's screenshots with misc specs if it would help to know:

Using the System Reset can be done without a disc.  There is a partition on the hdd just for this type of recovery.

Hi I have a problem which has gotten worse over the last few days. I have a dell 730 xps with water cooling, the water cooling fan went out causing over heating and shut downs. I have a qx9650 extreme chip and 2 gtx 280 video cards, 8 gigs of Corsair Dominator ram and a Creative Titanium Pro sound card. Drivers were all updated. Everything was running pretty good after the inital install, a few freeze ups maybe while playing WOW, vista 32 does the same thing, occassionally. After dell repaired the watre cooling they also replaced the mother board, this ruined my dual boot setup and after talking with microsoft tech, they did a repair which fixed the dual boot problem. Then the freezes became more often. And can happen at anytime, sitting at desktop, gaming or surfing internet. My descent setup is now crap. Currently I used driver sweeper 2.1.0 and removed the nvidia display drivers, and am now running windows display driver 8.15.11.8593 5/14/09 WDDMV 1.1 and these didnt fix it either. Hello Everyone

Recently my HDD was replaced in my pc due to it was faulty (couldn't boot).
I got a new one and redownloaded my games, but now i have a decrease in FPS in most games and the newer ones (Rome 2, AC4 etc.) have large FPS drops and crashes to a black screen with flickering sound after a few minutes. This forces me to restart my pc manually. I initailly thought it was due to overheating, and i cleaned my computer, which cured some of the FPS drops, but the games still crash after a few minutes.
Does anybody know why this happens?
I have attached a zip folder containing the results from: DxDiag and MSINFO32.

Any help would be appritiatied, thanks!

I have been having my monitor go black, like windows is shutting down/restarting by itself which i've had happen. However after many minutes there has been no shutdown or restart, and postcode LCD on board keeps reading CPU temp which it only does when in an OS, so I assume windows is still there somewhere. I really do not know why my screen is black all of a sudden. It seems to do it randomly. I thought it had to do with the hard drives at first because I had problems with them in the past, but freezes not monitor power-downs. I got a new mouse recently and considered that( trying my old mouse now to see what happens). I've reinstalled windows a few times and the same thing happens. I now wonder if it is my graphics card or monitor drivers? This is a different monitor from what i've been using in the past(my old LG died about a month ago), I never install monitor drivers, let windows use whatever it wants, so I shal go check that, but doubt it will do anything. Any verification of my thoughts, or thoughts on this will be appreciated!

The computer was working fine with just SP1 by the way.

Anyway, I started the SP2 download and install from windows updated, it downloaded and installed like approximately 78 megs of stuff. Since my friend and I didn't wnat to wait around, we wen't out to do some stuff. Then he droped me off at home.

I told him, all he had to do was just press yes to reboot when prompted.

Other than closing a few IE popups (which I was hoping the popup blocker in SP2 would fix) all he did was hit that yes to reboot when SP2 install asked.

He then called me and says since then his PC for the past 5 minutes has just been in a reboot cycle. It loads the bios and then tries to load windows and after the windows xp splash scren it reboots before anything else loads.

Now I have a P4 windows XP machine I built myself. SP2 upgraded fine of course I downlaoded the whole thing before it wason windows update.

Hi,
I'm currently using Windows 10 Home anniversary build with my Dell Inspiron 7352 2-in-1 model (with solid sate drive and on-board Intel graphic card) and experiencing randomly freezes quite often. I have tried to update hardware drivers and bios but to no avail. I have clean installed Windows 3-4 times but still have seen the same issue. The only thing I can do is to hard reset. The problem happens most of the time when I watch video on Youtube or other sites that require flash player. I normally use Chrome and some suggested to turn off 'use hardware acceleration when available' but that didn't help in my case. In fact, the problem is also present when switching to other browser like Edge too. The video card driver has been updated and I also tried updating flash player but the problem still persists. Even worse, the freezing also occurs sometimes when I leave my laptop overnight without putting it into sleep or hibernation. The freezing occurs randomly but usually within a week it comes to say hi to me. It might be the next day after previous freezing. Sometimes after first hard reset it freezes all of the sudden and requires another reset. Because of this, it's really hard to tell whether the problem comes from hardware or software side. I have another laptop with Win 10 Pro anniversary build equipped with two hard drives (SSD and HDD) and dual graphic cards but this machine works like a charm without any problem.

I've had an issue with my computer for a while now...

When I turn the comp on w/o the Win XP setup CD in the drive, it says "missing boot disk"
When I turn the comp on w/ the Win XP setup CD in the drive, sometimes it works (1/5 tries). Otherwise it gets to the windows loading bar which takes a LONG time then ends up rebooting.

I've also found I have better success when I unplug the cable and let the motherboard power-off (as opposed to just using the power button on the front of the computer)... which leads me to believe it may be a hardware issue.

In any case, I'm not sure where to start troubleshooting this, and I've just dealt with the annoyance... The operating system works fine when I can get to it. Any suggestions?

A:Computer constantly reboots.... sometimes gets to windows (but only w/ XP CD in drive)

Hello and Welcome to Bleeping Computer,
Have you tried to boot into safe mode? To boot in safe mode press F8 reapetivly during start up. Then highlight Safe Mode with Networking and press enter.

Thanks

4GB RAM
Nvidia geforce gt 330 m
500gb hd

Just recently been getting a crash when the display will go black and not respond again an i have to manually turn off an on the computer or (very rarely) it will reboot. If i have music or any sound being played through the speakers at the time, the sound gets all distorted and turns into static.

I have reformated and i still get the problem so i dont think it is sofware, i have also ran hardware checks and all the main components seem fine =\

i can turn it on first thing in the morning and it will run good for a few hours then crash, also i can leave it on stand by almost all day with no problem then wake it an it only takes a few minutes of browsing the net for it to crash and after that it will crash within 30min of reboot.
I think it may be a overheating problem but am not entirey sure, any advise or suggestions would be appreciated. i have atached the minidump folder, health report and nt6 folder in zip.
thanks

A:crashes by screen going black, sometimes reboots?

Is does kinda sound heat related but is this not a fairly new laptop ? - if so, I would not suspect fan/ dust issues to be the problem. Is it still under warranty, if yes, I'd be getting it back to the store.

The AIO 300 doesn't have Wacom pen support, so your only option is a capacitive stylus, like this: https://www.amazon.com/Stylus-RETECK-Universal-Capacitive-Samsung/dp/B01IHBVGOM/ref=pd_lpo_147_bs_t_...

Different computer, another problem. It doesn't seem to matter what I am doing, it just goes black & then reboots. Offline & online. Can be working in Picassa offline, reading email, playing Pogo, watching a news video, etc. Driving this old lady crazy! You guys have given me fantastic help in the past so am hoping you can do so again. Just got it home from computer guy a couple of weeks ago, he wiped & reinstalled XP since I had seriously messed it up. Should I give up on computers or do I still stand a chance. I called him & he seemed to think I was doing something wrong - not so! Being a good girl & not downloading programs that will make things worse. Besides, this started only a couple of days after I got it back.

Did this happen before you updated the video driver? Try rolling back the video driver. Go to Start/Run and type eventvwr.msc double click System and Application and look for any Red X's double click them and see what program or file is causing the crash. You can also try attaching your Dump Files

Hey guys hows it going?

Well ive got a problem, About a month ago i came home from vacation and my computer was completely dead. i dont know why, and at this point i couldnt care.

Well what was happeneing was it would get the BSD then just restart and i thought it was the HD.

So i got a new HD and i reinstalled windows on it and everything. It was going perfect.
After the installation it rebooted it self and i thought it was going to work, but then right in between the windows loading screen and the logon screen theres the black screen while the logon screen is loading. Well it just sits there for about a minute, i can use full function of the mouse and it even shows the little hour-glass like theres hope that it might start. But then it go's blank and restarts.

i thought it was the HD but now obviously it is not. Can someone please tell me what i can do to fix this please? I need my dose of WOW and quick..lol.

p.s. Ive not tryed safe mode, but when it was doing this on the old drive i did and it didnt help at all.

A:black screen, Moveable mouse, Then reboots..

Hi,

Take the RAM out and try them one stick at a time in each of the slots.
( whilst you have them out give the contacts a clean with an eraser ).

Do you get a POST beep - if so how many?

I assume that Windows has not completed the installation on the new Hard Drive?

Machine has an OEM sticker but I have the original windows 7 install disc.
I have re-installed from the same windows 7 disc a few times on my system, but the problem keeps returning.
I'm running Avast antivirus

DESCRIPTION -

This is my first post after nearly a year dealing with BSOD and just as often reboots without the blue screen. I have recently installed a system monitor which also shows my RAM occasionally running at nearly 98%, i have 4gb of ram and I might be doing nothing when this happens, sometimes this coincides with the system crashes, but sometimes the system crashes without any warnings. I have attached all of the files as suggested here http://www.sevenforums.com/crashes-d...tructions.html

I have spent a whole lot of time trying to figure out the problem and I think I've eliminated all of the internal & external hardware as a cause so please help me if you can. Thanks

A:BSOD and black screen reboots randomly

Tablet PC seems to be giving you the problems try repairing net framework 4.0 by going to control panel going to Add or Remove programs and going down to net frame 4.0 click change/remove and click repair. If you can repair it then Tablet PC should start running correctly again and hopefully clear up your bsod.

Hi syntinen & Welcome to the forums ^_^,

The bugcheck you are encountering is as below -

The VIDEO_TDR_ ERROR bug check has a value of 0x00000116. This indicates that an attempt to reset the display driver and recover from a timeout failed.
If you recently upgraded the drivers, have you tried reverting back to the previous/older drivers? Please try the drivers for your NVIDIA Card from the manufacturer's website as below (Please make sure that the desktop model in the below link matches with the one you have) -

If the above methods don't resolve your problems, kindly follow the below instructions and then upload the ZIP file so that the dump files could be analysed
