Script Error - Outlook Express & Internet Explorer

Q: Script Error - Outlook Express & Internet Explorer

Hello there,

I have recently set up on my PC a different account area for my friend so that he can check his e-mails from time to time.

His e-mails are accessed via the program Outlook Express.

Now bear in mind he can access his e-mails via Outlook Express perfectly well on my account area

But for some reason on the new area Outlook Express throws a wobbly

(and I'm not sure if it's just Outlook Express or the Internet as a whole that is the problem)

After logging on to the new area and then clicking on Outlook Express the program opens up. - this is where the problem is.

If there are no new e-mails coming through its okay However !!

If there are new e-mails waiting the first e-mail will come & straight away the program will bring up a new box which says: Internet Explorer Script Error

(I have sent a screenshot of this as an attachment - see attachment)

And everything freezes, - this new box & Outlook Express the only way to get out of it is to do Ctrl/Alt/Delete

As I said earlier Im not sure whether this is an Outlook Express problem or an Internet Explorer problem, - because I don't seem to be able to get certain Internet sites either

For example the Hotmail sign in page www.hotmail.com

And also when I open up Internet Explorer it always starts with a settings page even though I have set my homepage to Google.

I'm not particularly computer literate but would really appreciate a solution to this so my friend can read his e-mails

I look forward to hearing back from anyone

Regards Richard Milner.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

The title of your thread says "Outlook Express", but it looks like you're running Microsoft Outlook. Those are two different products.

Is this a new error that just started to pop up after Outlook has been running fine for a while? Did you try a repair of Office?

When I have the OE Inbox for Hotmail on my screen, and I right click an email with a view to opening it, I simultaneiously get a script error message with the menu resulting from the left click on top of it. And my computer is then frozen until I use Ctrl-Alt-Del to close the OE Inbox. I have that box checked (I can't remember where I got to the box) that says don't check for script errors.

All of the numerous script error messages I have gotten show Char. 35, but they show different lines, 15, 63 and 97 so far.

Any suggestions besides not using OE?

New Problem! When I open e-mail (sent) attempting to move e-mails to( Delete) so I can delete them, I receive an Internet Explorer Script Error.

It shows: An error has occured in the script on this page

code
url
Do you want to continue running script on this page?
Yes No

There seems to be a seperate script error for each Sent e-mail with different info in the Line-through-url designations. Hitting yes/no eventually removes all the errors notifications but obviously something is wrong. You cannot move sent e-mails to delete until all the script error messages are deleted.
The problem only occurs in the SENT area of Outlook Express 6!

Hi Everybody
My OS Windows XP SP1 (WinNT 5.01.2600)

I use a dial up connection and get a max of 50 kbps. (Living on an island in the middle of the indian Ocean - this is a luxury!!)
I have taken a bit of time to read through the earlier problems mentioned here and found my problem a bit unique (I hope So!).

My problems started a while ago. I have Win Xp Pro. with all updates available. About a month ago i noticed that everytime i opened Outlook express, Norton anti virus window would automatically pop up and send an email out - though i have not had any mail in my outbox or drafts folders. It is to be noted that my license for NAV has expired but i get the updates from the IT dept. on a CD and i update (I think Symantec would consider this illegal!!). Further, when i open my IE browser, everything is fine. When i do a search and then open a search in a new window - invariably there is a delay before any icon on the desk becomes active - even if i wanted to close or maximise the window - no luck. It would just freeze and take a while before anything happens. Now before this i had KazaaLite installed and then had Kazaa MD installed - i learnt later that they get installed side-by-side. Never knew actually. Now i went ahead and updated to the latest Ver of KMD and then i noticed quite a few other additional programmes installed. So Uninstalled the whole lot - incl KLite. I then end up with a Wupdater.exe fault window pop-up a... Read more

Example: Someone sends me an email, I click reply, I open up Google.com and copy this from the bottom of their website:

--- notice here it pastes it as plain text. I want that for Outlook Express, but instead it pastes it as blue text with underlining just like on the website. I hate that.

OK running Internet explorer you can click on 'Tools' the 'Internet Options' then the 'Programs tab' to access a location with drop down lists of program that can be used as defaults for your Interent explorer. Like Email.

I have a person that IS Using Outlook Express for all of her Email, and has been using it for some time, but when I go to the "Tools, Internet Options, Programs, and access the drop-down list for "Email:"" the only Mail program available is Outlook.

She does not want to use Outlook, and claims that when she does, it resends ...EVERY Sent email... Again.

Why is Outlook Express NOT in the drop-down list to allow it to be set as the default Email for Internet Explorer?
How can I add it or at lest set it to be used as the default Mail program?

Hi - first post

Every time I try to access the Internet (via IE8 and Google Chrome) I get the standard script error message window:
'Internet Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close...'

I've removed some malware using Malwarebytes that had got itself onto my computer despite having McAfee installed and running.

I did have a toolbar install itself (Dealio I think) last thing last night before I closed it down. I have removed that from the computer.

I also get an odd message and can't access 'Internet Options' from the Control Panel: something like Cannot run DLL as an App - it doesn't even respond at the moment

My wife is asking me to call the installation company to come and take a look, but I thought I'd ask you first. How do I solve a script error caused, I think by a toolbar adding itself on, when I an't even get onto Internet Options?

Thanks

A:Internet Explorer Script Error

If you run a script in IE that results in an error, IE gives you the option to debug the script. To disable this option, perform the following steps:

Start a registry editor (e.g., regedit.exe).
Navigate to the HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main registry subkey.
Double-click the Disable Script Debugger value.
Set the value data to "yes" to disable the script debugger, then click OK (setting the value to "no" enables the script debugger).
Restart IE for the change to take effect.

hope this will help.

disable NineMSN Today from opening everytime you sign into Windows Live Messenger this will most definetly solve the problem.

To disable NineMSN Today, go to: Tools > Options > (& then my guess is that it is on the General Tab). I can't verify this for sure as I am using the latest beta of 8.5 and don't have an option for NineMSN Today as I have already disbaled it and it is no where to be found.

Hope this helps,

Hi all:

I am getting a Internet Explorer script error as follows

Line: 1
Char: 1
Error: Object does not support this property or method
Code: 0
URL: www.tsn.ca

Is this a problem with explorer or a problem with the website? I get this most times I visit this site and run a video.

Thanks in advance
Keith

Hi nutdriver,

You can do what's suggested in here.
How to troubleshoot script errors in Internet Explorer 6 and in Internet Explorer 7 on Windows 2000-based, Windows XP-based, Windows Server 2003-based, or Windows Vista-based computers
You receive "Runtime Error" messages when you view Web pages in Internet Explorer

Whenever I log in to TSGF, I begin to access a series of panes that are titled as this message is titled. They always appear on top of the page I have accessed in TSGF. They contain words like: Line 2; Character 9; Invalid Character:Code 0 and URL, http//forums.techguy.org/newthread.php?s=be7e77el.
They allow the choice of a Yes or No with the yes as recommended. Clicking them off allows me to use TSGF as usual but it is a pain.
What might be the cause of this problem. I run AOL 7.0; Compaq 5080US with Bios Ver. 686c3; Win XP ver. 5.1.2600 and 256 MB with 797 MHz.
The Internet Explorer browser was bundeled with my computer but I try not to use it, favoring the AOL Browser. However, the IE muscles in frequently and takes over. I don't like it but am feaful to remove it since it always causes DialUp errors.

Not really familiar with AOL, but since thier browser is based on IE, they should have some things in common.

Those are script errors that it is reporting. In IE, under internet options those are cntrolled by going to the Advanced tab and unchecking the display a notification about every script error.

You should also check Disable Script Debugging also.

I would imagine that there is a similar setting in the AOL browser settings somewhere.

hi, hope you all can help me. I am getting this error whenever I open a new browser - I just say Yes and then everything works ok, but I would like to fix the issue. It happens no matter what homepage I have it set to open.
My IE is version 6.0

My other problem is - when I get an email (using Outlook Express 6) and the email contains a link in it, I can click the link but nothing happens. It wont open a browser to view the page. Even if I already have a browser open it wont go to the page. I have to copy and paste the link. Not such a big deal except for when the link is embedded in an image. LOL
One other thing that is wrong with my Outlook is it wont spell check. When I hit the spell check it says "An Error Occured while the spelling was being checked".

Any ideas whats wrong with my IE and Outlook?

PS: I am using Windows XP

I tend to be very skeptical of Microsoft's ability to do anything right. Consequently, I never install anything by Microsoft on my primary machine until it has been out for 6 months to a year. I'll test things on other machines, but not on my primary machine. Can you blame me?So, I just installed IE7, start it up and immediately I get a script error on the runonce page. Hahahahahahahaha!Details:Toshiba laptopWindows XP Pro SP3 1.5Gb RAM.Installed IE7 and all of the current updates.Start IE7 which brings up the page:http://runonce.msn.com/runonce3.aspx Immediately I get a box: Internet Explorer Script ErrorAn error has occurred in the script on this page.Line: 35Char: 5Error: 'window.external' is null or not an objectCode: 0URL: http://runonce.msn.com/runonce3.aspx Do you want to continue running scripts on this page?Yes/NoI have clicked No, Tools menu, Internet Option, Advanced and checked both of the boxes for "Disable script debugging" and cleared the check box for "Display a notification about every script error."But doing that doesn't help. If I check the bubble on the Runonce page to "Keep my current default search provider" and click the big Save your settings button IE7 will not finish the process, and clear the Runonce page out. The next time I start IE I still get the runonce page. AAAAAuuuuugggggghhhhhh! TimC

Hi, my name is Robert and I have a problem with my Dell desktop. When I turn on the computer a window pops up saying that I have a Internet explorer script error
Error: Active X component can't create object: "Scripting. Dictionary"
URL: mcp://Crogra/ Mcafee.com/agent/RegWizUl.dll::default.htm
I was wondering what this is and if I would be able to fix this? My computer is a Dell deminsion 4600 with a Windows XP operating system.
P.S I was not able to download a text document from Thomson One Banker, and when I used my fathers computer it worked right away is the problem related?
Thank you
