ThinkCentre: which version Gt 730, 2560 x 1440 required (Lenovo Edge 72, 3484, 180w)

Q: ThinkCentre: which version Gt 730, 2560 x 1440 required (Lenovo Edge 72, 3484, 180w)

Hi All,

I have a query and would very much appreciate some advice.

I am using a Lenovo Edge 72 Desktop (Thinkcentre) Type 3484 Model 3484JEG running Windows 7 64bit pro. The original graphics card has a max resolution of 1920x1080 but I would now like to run a monitor with a resolution of 2560x1440.

Could anyone please recommend a compatible graphics card that can output with that specific resolution?

The following card can work with that resolution but I have no way of knowing if it is compatible with the pc?
https://www.custompcparts.ie/video/graphics-cards/gigabyte-gv-n730-2gi-geforce-gt-730-2gb-gddr3.irel...

Thanks in advance for your help..

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

First of all I want forum administrators know that this is probably my worst forum registration I ever had in my life. Just because I need to ask one question I have to spend over 20 minutes of registration process with few e-mails. It's not acceptable. Most companies have special form for questions which I can fill without any registration and time and without filling tons of fields. So regarding the question, I'm asking because in manual it's not clear. I see Video input HDMI (Digital) supports Clock frequency 600 Mhz which is half of DP range, but than after this Supported display modes only 2560 x 1440 at 60 Hz (HDMI). How it comes with so high clock frequency or I don't understand something in this parameters?

I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit with a Dell U2711 monitor. To do some precision work I need the U2711 to run at 2560 x 1440 which is one of its native modes.

The U2711 has a "displayport" plug. I'm contemplating the MSI Radeon HD 5770 which has two displayport outlets. If I use the HD R5770 can I just connect it via the displayports and run the latest R5770 driver software for W7 64-bit. Will that enable the U2711 to run at 2560 x 1440?

Any help will be deeply appreciated.

Thank you!

I'm thinking of getting an X1 with a display of 14.0" WQHD (2560 x 1440).  Is it possible to set that at 1980x1080 if I want?  Is it feasible and will it use the entire physical display?  So essentially I'm hoping it would become like the FHD 1980x1080p display panel option.  not sure if this is a thing or not.  would be nice.

Hello,I am trying to run the following setup, but want to make sure what would be the best way to do it: ThinkPad T450 + 2 external Dell monitors (2560 x 1440). The monitors have HDMI and DP ports. The laptop has miniDP and VGA. Reading online, I think that HDMI (or DP) -> VGA will not support the resolution (2560 x 1440).I could hardly find any miniDP To Dual HDMI Adapters and I am not sure whether this will work at all. Anyone with experience on that, any advise?

I have the ASROCK H77M and want to buy a 27" monitor with 2560x1440 resolution.

the specs show on DVI/HDMI it only can support 1920x1200. My only high-resolution option seems to be the analog (D-sub) port where the board lists 2048x1536 as the max. resolution.

currently i have 2 monitors on it (24" 1920 x 1080 on DVI and 19"on on sub-D) on DVI. that 19"monitor would go away and i plan to use the 24"and the 27". now the way i see it i would have to hook up the 27"monitor via D-sub:
- will the picture quality be bad?

Ideally I don't buy a graphics card.... unless that is my only option to get good picture quality at high res. i don't do any graphics application that would require more then the Intel on-chip graphics.

i haven't researched much if some boards with on-board graphics (on Intel CPU) would allow monitors with higher resolution vie HDMI.

A:use 27" (2560 x 1440) on board with 1920x1200)

It should be fine using VGA I myself don't really see much or any difference from my VGA and dvi monitors.

I have 2 new Elitebook 840 G3 laptops. They came with windows 7 out of the box, and I upgraded one to Windows 10 64bit.I have the same problem with both. Neither will display anything over displayport to a BenQ BL3200PT AMVA+ 32-inch Monitor 16:9, 2560 x 1440. The laptop is advertised with: "DisplayPort Supports resolutions up to 4096 x 2160 @ 60 Hz Resolutions are dependent upon monitor capability, and resolution and color depth setting"  When I plug in the cable, the laptop screen goes blank, the monitor just turns off with no signal. To get the laptop screen back I need to unplug the cable, and sometimes actually plug it back in.Shutting down with the cable plugged in ends with an incomplete shutdown, and needs the power button held down until the lights go off. The same monitor works fine at full resolution with a USB>DisplayPort displaylink adapter. So, the cable+monitor appear to work fine. I've gone into the bios, and increased the video memory to 512mb, but that hasn't made a difference.I've switched down from displayport 1.2 to 1.1 compatibility in the monitor settings but that hasn't helped.I've used SoftPAQ to go to latest bios, video drivers, chipset drivers.I've uninstalled HP video drivers and gone with newer intel native drivers. Exact same behaviour.  So, the fact that this is happening on two laptops strikes me as strange. It's hardly a hardware problem. I don't have a 2nd ... Read more

But the truth is that mass produced monitors are usually significantly off in terms of color balance, too green, too blue, etc, and most people just don't notice unless they see two monitors side by side with the same image. In addition to showing us wrong colors, incorrect color balance can make printing images an exercise in frustration. Fortunately, monitor calibration is an easy way to solve the problem, and should be done by anyone who cares about color. Unfortunately, trying to do it by eye (e.g., Windows Display Color Calibration) is crude and imperfect at best. What's needed for good results is a colorimeter, a hardware device that can accurately measure the color of a monitor.

Hello, I have Thinkpad T440 (i5-4300U, Intel HD Graphics 4400). I am considering buying a LCD display with WQHD resolution (2560 x 1440) and I am wondering wheather it will work with T440. Important thing is that it will work with 60 Hz refresh ratio. According to the specification [1] it should work: "[email protected] (DisplayPort via Mini DisplayPort cable on integrated models)", but the refresh ratio is pretty low - 30Hz. The specification [2] for i5-4300U, Intel HD Graphics 4400 says something different: "Max Resolution (DP)? [email protected]". So the refresh ration is higher than in T440 specification - 60Hz. Also quick reference quide to Intel processors [3] confirms the resolution and refresh ratio: "U-Processors: 3200 x 2000 @ 60 Hz, 3840 x 2160 @ 30 Hz". Is 2560 x 1440 @ 60 Hz supported on T440? I hope that ThinkPad T440 specification is not accurate enough and that limit to 30 Hz refresh ratio only applies for 4k resolution (3840 x 2160). [1] http://psref.lenovo.com/syspool/Sys/PDF/ThinkPad/ThinkPad%20T440/ThinkPad_T440_Platform_Specificatio...[2] https://ark.intel.com/products/76308/Intel-Core-i5-4300U-Processor-3M-Cache-up-to-2_90-GHz[3] https://software.intel.com/en-us/articles/quick-reference-guide-to-intel-processor-graphics

X1 Carbon Gen 6, X1 yoga Gen 3, and T480s are under my review (waiting 3rd party review coming out). I prefer more on T480s as it has discrete GPU option plus faster Ram, but sad it doesn't have 500nits screen option as the X1 series, and T480s only offers 1 TB3 port. Anything that Lenovo can do on giving more options on screens and TB3 options to T480s potential buyers (especially these 3 models shares the same pool of hardware parts (as seen on latest Product Specifications reference http://psref.lenovo.com/ ?) P.S. Can Lenovo also explain why once buyer chooses to get the 500nits monitor for X1 series, IR camera will not be available for such models. Is that design limitation?

Hi All,  This is my first post on these forums and I have recently in the last couple of months purchased the above computer. I have made a couple of upgrades to it, in the form of an SSD hard drive and using the Crucial memory scanner I have upgraded the ram from 4gb to 16gb.  It now runs extremely fast indeed, but when I turn the computer on, when it posts it beeps twice, two short beeps, then continues to load windows 7 fine and works flawlessley.  I have been trying to diagnose the two short beeps upon startup for a few weeks now and am getting no where fast. I found the following article on these very forums but the suggestions dont seem to have made a difference to my situation.  https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Lenovo-E-H-K-M-Q-and-ErazerX/Lenovo-H330-2-short-beeps-at-power-up-but-... This issue can be intermittant, I would say it happens 6 to 7 times out of every 10 times the machine is turned on. Initially I wasnt getting any form of error on the screen at all, until I went into the BIOS, cleared the error log and rebooted the machine. Then I got the error as follows - Error 0162 : Setup data integrity check failure Now this error code does not seem to exist on the Lenovo website, I found the following links which were helpful in showing me all sorts of other codes and beep sequences, the first one lists the two short beeps and links to an error code list - https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/documents/migr-46... Hi,

Yesterday I received my Lenovo ThinkCentre Edge E73 and the first thing I did was update my Windows 7 professional. However, after it had rebooted about 3 times it froze on the 'loading windows' screen.

After a reboot, the startup repair launched and was restoring to a previous state. The pc rebooted and tried to do a CHKDSK but it failed and loaded the welcomescreen but froze with the message that winload.exe was damaged. Knowing about the system recovery partition I booted it at start and selected the option to restore the whole pc to factory state. Unfortunately, this happened.

I tried using a retail windows 7 pro-disc to repair the computer since the recovery partition shortcut (f11) didn't work anymore. However, it didn't even recognize that the old windows was there, untill I looked at the partition manager.

It seems the recovery partition is still intact but I can't boot to it anymore. Will it work if i delete the old windows7_os partition or do I have to do anything else? The bios is setup to start from the harddisk.

Thanks in advance,
Joeri

As you wrote, systems with the 180w supply are available with the GT 730, which is similar in power to the GT 1030, so the 180w will power it no problem.  The reason this is possible, is that current generation processors use much less power than those from a few years ago, ie. 65w vs. 80 or 95w.

I am confident that there are some models with 210w available in Italy.  You could search the PSREF for system models ending in "IX", same as yours.   I imagine that in a couple of years you'll see good used 210w supplies on Ebay for reasonable prices.  The part number can be found in the parts list in the back of the HMM.  So that when you want to upgrade the GT 1030, you can do so.

Dear guys,

I have a Tecra R850 laptop (the graphic card is an AMD Radeon HD 6450M) with a PA3916A-1PRP port replicator.

I already have a 23" running at 1920x1080 connected via HDMI.
I would like to buy a 27" to run it at 2560 x 1440.

So my ideal configuration would be the 27" at 2560 as main monitor and the 23" at 1920 as second monitor. One monitor (the 23") has Display Port, DVI and VGA input, the other one has DVI, Display Port 1.2, Mini Display Port 1.2, HDMI.

Is it possible to connect them as I wish (I would love to avoid the use of VGA)?
Do I need other stuff (another docking for example) to accomplish that?

Any idea is good for me!

Thanks a lot

mario

A:Tecra R850 with 27" display at 2560 x 1440 and 23" display at 1920x1080

Hi

Generally speaking you may be able to connect two external monitors at a time depending on your notebook model.

In user manual of Tecra R850 you can read that when the Toshiba HI-Speed Port Replicator II is connected to the notebook, you cannot use _notebook?s_ external RGB (VGA) port.
This port will not work.

Furthermore you cannot use port replicator?s HDMI port and Display Port at the same time.
The hi-speed port replicator II contains a slider which can be moved to choose either the HDMI port or Display Port.

So it seems that you have one option to connect two externa monitors: (VGA + HDMI)
one monitor to HDMI/Display port and other to VGA/RGB port (port replicator's RGB port)

Another option to connect two external monitors at the same time, you should use another docking solution like for example Dynadock U3. It supports an HDMI and DVI port which can be used at the same time.

Question that I could not find an answer for on Google before I buy. I currently have a Dell 6420 using Win 7 SP1 with a 1366 X 768 display that I have the text set at 125% so I can read it. What display is going to look better on an X1 Carbon if I use that setting, the 2560 x 1440 WQHD IPS LED Display or the 1920 x 1080 Full HD IPS LED Display using Win 7 Pro?

Hi, Got a ThinkCentre Edge72 that I am attempting to recover to factory settings. The partition drive with the Lenovo_Recovery is there, however pressing F11 on start up does nothing. I can access Windows System Recovery Options, when I try System Image Recovery, it is unable to find an image. Further inspection suggests that someone had installed a fresh copy of Windows by other means thus removing any Lenovo software/tools which I think might be what I'm missing to access the Lenovo recovery options correctly. Is there any tools avilable that may allow me to use F11 and use the Lenovo_Recovery Partition?  ThanksTom

Hello Walter,

Please update the BIOS which will resolve the issue.
http://download.lenovo.com/ibmdl/pub/pc/pccbbs/thinkcentre_bios/9qjy36usa.exe

You may also try the Windows registry setting. Kindly be careful while editing windows registry.
Have a look at the following registry location (note that you need to invoke regedit.exe with administrative privileges in order to make any changes in this location) and ensure that the value ClearPageFileAtShutdown is set to 0 (if it is set to 1, change the value to 0).
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management

Best Regards,
Tanuj

Hi. I have a thinkcentre edge 72, Intel Core i5-3330s 3.20 GHz - Intel H61 - 4GB DDR3 - 1TB HDD - DVD/RW - Windows 7 Pro 64Bit One day on startup (from power button) it just ran the fans for a 1 second, and then shut down, then the fans ran again after about 4 seconds for 1 second again and shut down, and repeats. I took the thing apart, fiddled with connections, removed the ram and put it back in, then did the paperclip test on the powersupply.  The powersupply was giving out the required voltages on yellow, orange and red etc.  Powersupply fan runs.  Seams the powersupply is ok. tried removing almost everything from the motherboard - DVD, harddisk, fans, power button (shorted the startup from the connection on the motherboard). Seems to me either the RAM is no good, or the motherboard has a problem.  I don't have any suitable extra ram, so can't test that. I guess before I go out and buy a new motherboard has ANYBODY ANYWHERE had this problem with a Lenovo ?    Can Lenovo experts indicated what they think this might be ? If Not, how can I get my hands on a replacement motherboard? I'd rather not change/upgrade as I don't want to have to reinstall windows 7 or risk data loss.   thanks! Guy

A:thinkcentre edge 72 won't boot up. fan runs then s...

I see no other replies to this... I had somewhat similar problem, 3 days ago: I had Windows7 in "sleep"; when I pressed Power button, only got auxiliary fan full on until I pulled the power plug. Any subsequent reattachment of power resulted only in auxiliary fan full on.  An other forum entry's response led me to replace the CMOS battery. Problem fixed.

I have a thinkcentre edge 92z all in one (3426C2B).There is some trouble of the windows and I'm considering to reinstall the os.Then I wonder if I can add a msata ssd to it and install the os to it to boost the performance.I read another post here saying that it is possible. However, when I asked the local lenovo support via email, they just replied me with the Hardware Maintenance Manual saying that there is no msata slot so it is not support. Can someone please confirm the real picture.many thanks.
