I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I keep getting a message that says, "windows does not have enough information to verify this certificate". I have downloaded my certificate, but do not know how to get past this issue. Any guidance will be much appreciated!

I have ran my AVG internet security scan, MalwareRemoval scan and nothing is found. I have change my security level to medium, deleted all cookies and history in IE8 but still get certificate warning. I can access the internet but when I try to login my eBay account this certificate warning error pops up. This seems to be on my PC only. I can login my account on another PC in my home without any warnings. I am running Windows XP with Internet Explorer 8. This just started happening yesterday, June29th. I have always accessed my account on this PC before without any problems. This is my main PC to do banking, etc. This is the warning I receive: There is a problem with this website's security certificate. Does anyone have any suggestions on what is taking place here? Thanks for any assistance on this issue in advance.

I try to use an excel macro that goes to one https site and extract some excel file from this site. But the problem is that i receive a popup asking me to choose a digital certificate. This is not really a problem because i can not select any certificate, i can only select ok or cancel and then the needed file is downloaded.
But my problem is that i need to do this for many files and i would like to let my computer work alone during this macro.

Is it possible to avoid this pop up box that is asking me for choosing certificate ?

I have already looked on several forums but the proposed solutions does not work for me.

Thanks for any idea that would help me

Hi, hope someone can help me out here,
We recently changed our digital certificate for our VPN portal from a self certified one to a globalsign one.

Most people are using the site without any problems since, except one person.
they are getting an error message about "the site's security certificate has been revoked, or revocation information is not available" they are unable to launch any of our VPN applications.

the end user has IE6, XPSP2. no-body else has this problem so it must be an issue on the remote PC, anyone have any suggestions?

Hi: I am having a problem when I am in our web site where I select a link which opens a Microsoft Word Doc in a new browser within the plugin. The problem is when I exit that browser window which has MS doc in it, I get the popup which says "The web site you want to view request identification. Please choose a certificate." There is nothing to choose from and all I have is "Ok, Cancel". In order to get rid of this popup I have to select "Ok, Cancel" about thirteen times. Then the browser goes away and I can go ahead and select another doc. The process starts all over again. Also if I select something other than "doc", it works fine. No certificate popup... Also I think this has to do with a browser or plugin because there are a couple of guys that don't have this problem. We just can't pinpoint what needs to be changed or what to look for.

A:Choose a digital certificate popup

This is what we did and now it works!

This problem may occur if Internet Explorer tries to write the document file name to the list of most recently used files. To write the file name to the most recently used list, Internet Explorer tries to obtain read/write access to the document.

Important Note: Take a backup of your registry by using FIle -> Export and save it to local disk

To resolve this problem, you must add the DontAddToMRUIfURL registry value. To do this, follow these steps:

1. Click Start, and then click Run.
2. In the Run dialog box, type regedit, and then click OK.
3. ILocate the following registry key "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\10.0\Word\Options"
4. Click Options, on the Edit menu, point to New, and then click DWORD Value.
5. Type DontAddToMRUIfURL, and then press ENTER.
6. Right Click on newly added DontAddToMRUIfURL, click Modify.
7. In the Value data box, type 1, and then click OK.
8. On the File menu, click Exit to quit Registry Editor.

I can't get some Java programs to run because of digital certificate warnings that come up repeatedly. The first one says, "The application's digital signature has been verified. Do you want to run the application?". I click Run and the next warning comes up,"The publisher cannot be verified by a trusted source. Code will be treated as unsigned." When I click on Details, I see 'Java.io.FileNotFoundException'. I click OK, and the first warning comes back. This continues until the Java program I'm trying to run just stops loading. I've tried different browsers with the same results. There is some indication that a digital certificate has expired. OK, stupid question but i found very little information on this...other than simply buying one for $20 through Verisign.

Microsoft has this page about digital certificates and signatures.

And ive followed a handful of so-so guides for the process with no luck

And after attempting the process with the selfcert.exe, makecert.exe and other tools...well needless to say, here i am posting at TSG

Isnt there software that can do this?
Or a cheaper way to get a trustworthy cert, other than verisign for $20 a year...?
For $5 id just buy it...but not $20

A email i have to send for a grant request requires the digital cert...and ill probably never use one again so i would hate to shell out $20 for this...

Any and all help is greatly appreciated.

Our web sites are set up to require client certificates & we have a certificate authority running on Windows 2003 SP2. I downloaded & installed the patch (WindowsServer2003-KB922706-v7-x86-ENU.exe) to allow the server to issue certificates to Vista. I then requested, issued & installed the certificate on a Vista PC. I can see it in certificate manager & everything about the certificate is ok. It's purpose is "Proves your identity to a remote computer". But when I try to connect to the site, IE7 pops up "Choose a Digital Certificate " with an empty list.

There is no problem on XP PC's. We have had to tell our customers for over a year now that they can't use Vista! I hoped the patch for the certificate authority server would finally sort this out.

Any help appreciated!

All versions of Windows ship with an ActiveX control known as the
Certificate Enrollment Control, the purpose of which is to allow
web-based certificate enrollments. The control is used to submit PKCS
#10 compliant certificate requests, and upon receiving the requested
certificate, stores it in the user's local certificate store.

The control contains a flaw that could enable a web page, through
an extremely complex process, to invoke the control in a way that
would delete certificates on a user's system. An attacker who
successfully exploited the vulnerability could corrupt trusted root
certificates, EFS encryption certificates, email signing
and any other certificates on the system, thereby preventing the user
from using these features.

An attack could be carried out through either of two scenarios. The
attacker could create a web page the that exploits the vulnerability,
and host it on a web site in order to attack users who visited the
site. The attacker also could send the page as an HTML mail in order
to attack the recipient.

A new version of the control is available that corrects the
vulnerability, and can be installed via the patch. A patch is
available for all other Windows systems, as discussed in the Patch
Availability section below. Internet Explorer 5 or later is a
prerequisite to installing the patch. As discussed in the Caveats
section, customers who operate web sites that use the Certificate

I am trying to resolve an issue where multiple client computers in the organisation are using an internally deployed Root CA certificate (before my time and no longer required) to sign the end entity certificate for external websites, google.co.uk
for example. All SSL sites appeared to be affected by this.

However this is not the case as sub domains of sites with issues show the correct cert chain, the below is for mail.google.com

Removing or untrusting this root ca cert breaks access to these sites.

I have reset root certs in various ways, removed machines from the domain, applied no GPOs, manually updated CRL and pulled down updated certs with rootsupd.exe.
It always attempts to use this rouge CA cert to sign the websites cert.

Any assistance would be much appreciated.

First, I have reviewed the other posts with similar questions and noted that I can install the certificate into root certificates and most likely this problem will go away, some specifics:

1) When a client reported this error using a pop.secureserver.net on an outlook 2003 client, I just figured it was godaddy or the REALLY old Outlook client, but nonetheless, I went in to troubleshoot it and was convinced it was godaddy, but when I tried
to start my Outlook 2016 client on my Windows 10 computer on their network, I got the same error.  Two notes are important: 1) I use godaddy as well and 2) I used the same computer at a different client just yesterday without a single error message.
2) They use POP 995 w/ SSL & SMTP 465 w/ SSL to pop.secureserver.net & smtpout.secureserver.net repsectively
3) I called the company that manages their firewall and was told that everything was fine, but was sent a certificate from the firewall that might fix the problem.
4) The firewall company tells me they use a fortinet firewall

I have some questions that I'm hoping one of the experts here can answer for me:

- What in a firewall setup can cause a certificate to fail as listed in the subject?
- Is there a port or configuration change they... Read more

I have some Windows 7 systems which have not run Windows Updates for many years, and cannot due to regulatory reasons.   We rely upon Windows to automatically update the Trusted Root Certificate store whenever we browse to a web site/web service
that uses a certificate the system doesn't recognize.
Sometime recently, the Trusted Root Certificate Store no longer updates automatically.  The Windows Event Log shows an error stating that the certificates cannot be downloaded from:
http : // ctldl.windowsupdate.com/msdownload/update/v3/static/trustedr/en/authrootstl.cab
If we browse to this location manually, the cab file contains an invalid Microsoft certificate.

This was also an issue in Sept 2018.  At that time, the certificate had expired, and Microsoft eventually updated the certificate to resolve the issue.   This time, the certificate does not appear to have expired.  Why is the certificate
invalid this time, and can Microsoft fix it again?

Can someone walk me through the steps of having Advanced Threat Analytics (ATA) request a new certificate from Active Directory Certificate Services (ADCS)?  I'm not familiar with either product so I will need detailed steps please.  At a high-level
i'm guessing
1. ATA issues a certificate request
2. I send the request to ADCS
3. ADCS issues a cert for that request
4. Install new cert in ATA
I'll need detailed command line statements.  My ATA Center server is named ATASERVER.DOMAIN.ORG, and I but the URL is configured as ATACENTER.DOMAIN.ORG in ATA.  Can the cert handle both the servername and the URL?
Thank you in advance!

Really confusing one here. Since this weekend (16/17 July) we have started getting Certificate errors on some sites and applications. This seems to be due to the structure of the URL compared to the "advertised" name IIS is presenting. I'll try
to explain.
I have a site, Website. This is in my domain, domain.com. Therefore the FQDN is website.domain.com. IIS is running and I can access this site through FQDN,NetBIOS or IP address. Good news.
I create a certificate for the server using the FQDN as the subject, I add the Netbios and IP addresses in the Subject Alternate Names and Bind this to port 443 on the server.
I browse to https://website and all is good. I browse to https://website.domain.com I get a certificate error. Checking the certificate, everything is fine, no errors, chain is trusted. open Chrome and do the same, I get that the certificate website.domain.com
is being presented by Website and may not be the site I want.
Using either URL has never been a problem until this weekend, but it seems that IE/Windows/IIS is not liking any URL that is not EXACTLY what IIS is presenting. so my questions are:-
Is anyone else finding this?
Can we issue a certificate that covers all possible DNS resolutions for a site?
How do I control WHAT IIS advertises itself as?
SO far this has affected two major systems on our network and I can see that more will arise, so any help would be appreciated.

Good Day

We have a problem where we encrypted files using EFS, however we can't access or decrypt these files now.

We have the certificate in the certmgr.msc but we do see that the key is missing.

I have reproduced this on another computer and was able to run certutil -repairstore -user MY "Serial Number" which worked in repairing the store and files was decryptable again.

However on the machine that encrypted the files that we need to access this is not the case as there is a popup asking for your Smart Card.

We are not using Smart Cards at all, and have had a look at the following article regarding this issue, but the hotfix didn't work: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2955631

I have software that can remove the encryption but will require the .pfx file, which can't be exported as the certstore doesn't show that it still has this.

It is a self signed certificate generated by Windows, so I can't request a new one using the CA.

Thanks for your help in advance.

Having some fun with a windows 7 setup of DirectAccess, have it configured to use ECC certificates on the client for the IPSec authentication, which was working brilliantly, we even have it loaded up behind a Citrix Netscaler to do SSL offloading of the
HTTPS tunnel encryption. But when trying to get Client Preauthentication working, we hit a snag, it seems that the NetScalers dont support ECC certificates, which is a pain, but something we thought we could work around by using an RSA certificate on the client
to performed the pre-authentication (as shown here https://directaccess.richardhicks.com/2016/05/10/directaccess-ip-https-preauthentication-using-citrix-netscaler/).
So we have three CA's, CA1/2 issue RSA certs and CA3 is setup to do the ECC ones, so nice separation of the chains.
So we have our Cert chain for RSA loaded into the load balancer and a new cert issued to the client from CA1... But, every time the client connects to the server (LB) we see the handshake taking place, the server sends a list of its DNs (CA1/2) (https://blogs.msdn.microsoft.com/kaushal/2015/05/27/client-certificate-authentication/)
to the client, but then the client looks in its store, picks out the ECC certificate (issued from CA3) and fails to authenticate saying no suitable certificate can be found, its like its not even looking at the RSA one at all.
So, thinking something was wrong with the way the LB was asking for client authentication, I tried deleting the ECC cert a... Read more

Every time I installed the certificate, it is working and allow me access to the website with relevance ID. However, the installed certificate will be missing if I continue to install with another certificate. The way I install the certificate is just double click on the PKF certificate that provided by the website admin, then kept click on the next button until its finish the installation steps. All the certificates will install to "Personal" certificate store folder, but the problem is only one certificate will remain.

I ever try to import all the certificate with using windows certificate manager, is allow me to import all the certificates and able to let me access to the website with select different certificate to login with selected account ID. Anyway this method is only workable if the Internet Explorer is not close after install all the certificates, once the Internet Explorer is close, then all the certificates were gone.

I do a lot of audio work on mine, using Windows XP SP 3, and was able to kill the sounds by opening the Control Panel, then Sounds and Audio Devices, and then click on the Sounds tab. For "Sound Scheme" select "No Sounds" and click the "Save As" box.

Hey everyone

I just got a set of Boston Acoustics Digital Media Theater Speakers. They're pretty nice for 1999. I'd probably go as far as saying they're the best set of computer 2.1s I've ever heard.

Problem is, I can currently only run them through analogue because I have no digital cable for them. The connect on the sub looks like either a digital coax or RCA connect, which should run out to the 1/8 in. mini digital out on my SoundBlaster Live! card.

The manual doesn't say exactly what it is anywhere. It shows a picture of a cable with a single RCA end and a 1/8 in. mini stereo end.

Problem is, every such cable I find is mono on the mini end.

Any ideas on where to find a such cable?

I attached a picture of the back, it is blurry, but you can at least see what it is. (top right jack)

The Gigabyte GA-EP43-DS3L will do the job nicely and help you save money. It is also a more reliable choice compared to the MSI board.

Ownership of MP3 U.S. Logic Digital Audio Player (square size model PA36B-21. I have a new Vista operating system. I have lost the CD to install on new pc. I have searched my old harddrive but cannot locate proper file to install to new system. I have searched the net but seems that I cannot locate current info. All info I have found is several years old so I'm not sure if the software is still available. I have not used this audio recorder in a long time and have info from a conference that I would like to save to my system.

Thanks for the help.

I am hoping to use a monitor (not attached to a computer) to run a slide show of photos at an event. I purchased a MICCA Speck G2 media player BUT after I got it home I realized that my monitor does not have an A/V or HDMI port - which are the only cables that came with the media player. I then went & purcased a HDMI to DVI-D cable so I could connect the player to my monitor - HOWEVER - I still cannot get them to talk to each other! I?m not very technical but I am a problem solver and this has me stumped - HELP , PLEASE!!

I have a Pioneer 106s DVD ROM which has a digital 2 pin output.

I just bought a Sony STRDE 675 dolby digital amplifier which has a coaxial digital in input.

My sound card, a soundblaster Live CT 4830 does have a digital out connector on the external part (next to the line in input), but does not have a 2 pin connector on the card itself where the DVD could be connected (there is the place with SPDIF marked but for some reason there is no 2 pins connector)

I do not want to buy a 5.1 soundcard if I can connect my DVD ROM to the amplifier without using the soundcard, Is this possible! Is the DVD rom digital out SPDIF recognised by the amplifier?

Should I create on the soundcard (which does have the digital output on the ecternal panel) an internal connection for the 2 pins? will this work?

Does anyone have a clue? HELP!!
many thanks

A:connecting a DVD Rom digital signal to a Dolby Digital Amplifier

Modifying it isn't going to work in my mind.
Just adding pin connections don't mean the hardware and software is included with the card.

Sound functions but reciever is only detecting 2 channel output. Apon browsing RealTekHD audio properites I discovered that the only options for Digital Output(RCA) were all 2-Channel under "Default Format" tab. However my front pannel Audio Output Jack(HD Audio 2nd Output) has an extra third tab labeled "Speaker Configuration" and has options for up to 7.1 surround but these settings do not impact my Digital Output(RCA) channel. Now my reciever does have a multi-channel input that could take advantage of the Analog Outputs in the rear but the distance is to great and multiple wires are expensive.

My question is how can i configure my RealTek Digital Output(RCA) to ouput 7 channel sound?

I just purchased a new digital camera and when I went to install the driver cd that came with it, it said the driver is not compatible with my version of Windows (7). Is there anyway that I can find a new driver? I'm not very knowledgable with drivers and if this possible. Or if not a driver is there anyway that I can get the photos off the camera to my computer...took alot of photos I don't want to lose.

The camera is from a company called Digital Concepts, the driver cd has a company called Sakar International on it. I hope thats all the info that would be needed for someone to help me!

A:Digital Concepts Digital Camera

Hello Alabama Belle, and welcome to Seven Forums.

Do you have the model number of the camera? You can also check at the manufacturer's website to see if they may have any drivers available to download that may work for you.

In addition, if you have a media card reader installed on your computer, you can take the card out of the camera and plug it into the media card reader instead to upload your pictures.

Hope this helps,

Hi, I want to buy a new hard drive for my desktop PC, and I was wondering if the western digital black 250GB hard drive or western digital enterprise 250GB hard drive would work better for such a PC. Both of the HDDs I mentioned are SATA, in case you're wondering.
