Elgato Game Capture HD - Momentary, Repeated, Pixelation?!

Q: Elgato Game Capture HD - Momentary, Repeated, Pixelation?!

I have absolutely no Idea how to fix this,
I recorded some GTA V Xbox One, with my Newly purchase Elgato Game Capture HD.
The only settings I changed is the resolution:
I put it at [email protected] (with allowance to use 60fps or whatever that tick box was).
When fast movements are made in game, when I record for example and I jump and fall off a car roof, as shown in this video I made (https://youtu.be/refYFmQPooc). You see very early on in that video what I am talking about.
Any and all helpful replies are very much appreciated!
Please reply asap

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I have a home made computer. Please note that i did not make it, I am not very tech-y. It has windows xp.
I just bought an Elgato Game Capture HD so i can play video games and put them on youtube.
the Elgato does not support windows xp, it does support windows 7 sp1.
My questions is what can i do?
I have all of the programs that i need on my computer already. I dont really want to spend another some-hundred dollars on a new computer and the programs and whatever else i might need. Just want to know my options. If i need to spend money on a new computer or something, please assist me with what to look for -cheaply. If i need to get a new computer, i would prefer a laptop, though this is not a necessity.

Just today I got an Elgato Game Capture HD so that I could record myself on YouTube playing XBOX 360, XBOX 1 and Retro Game Consoles. I installed the latest version of the Elgato Game Capture software which required me to install Microsoft .NET Framework 4.5 and also required some sort of update for Windows 7. I also downloaded the latest version of the Elgato Game Capture HD Driver. I then opened up the Elgato Game Capture software only to find that it didn't recognize my Elgato Capture device. I went into the Device Manager only to find that there was a yellow ! under the Elgato Game Capture device. I double clicked it to see what the issue was and it gave me the Code 52 error. I tried typing something in CMD to solve the problem but that didn't help. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the driver but that didn't help. I know that the Device itself is not broken because when a console is hooked up to it then it would show on my HDMI monitor and Retro consoles are included.
Here are some pictures that explain my situation-

When I'm trying to record something in theater mode it looks good and smooth and hd. But when I record it with Elgato it says "deinterlacing" and after that it looks laggy / crappy / not hd. I need to record good Black Ops 2 material with my ps3 / elgato please help me!

I heard that with ps3 you can get the quality better with some other wires, can someone explain how?

If you need anything else like my settings or computer specs please tell me!

I'm using Mac by the way.

Please help!

A:Elgato Game Capture Device PROBLEM with Black Ops 2 [HELPME!]

Sounds like a configuration issue in your recording software/configuration.

There is no reason to deinterlace the video as it's a progressive signal (ie: 1080P) and you want to record it as a progressive signal (1080P).

As far as cables go, that device doesn't appear to offer an input options. Looks like you should be using an HDMI cable. For the most part, HDMI cables either work or they don't.

I bought this Elgato capture card yesterday and I've been trying to get it to work. I've updated my driver, and changed the video quality on both of my monitors, along with the profile (quality) on the software but I keep getting this message:

I don't know what it means by "video output format" but I want to be able to record off of it, so thank you in advance if you know how to help me.

A:Elgato Capture Card: Won't capture anythng

I'm not familiar with it. But based on the image, there is no input signal (upper right box - Game Capture HD "no signal").

So the error is likely trying to tell you to change the output video type of whatever you have connected.

Whenever I plug in my elgato HD capture device my pc goes to a blue screen. So what happens is I plug my elgato into my computer and open up the elgato software (Game capture HD) And it initializes (I think that is how you spell it) the elgato and 5 seconds later it will crash... I tried to re-install the drivers and the Game capture HD Software but it still does the same thing. Here is a link to a video of my screen when it crashes -

I recently bought a new (Athlon 3200, 1gb mem, I think) computer and it will run any games that I tested well, but when it comes to using many programs to do with graphic programming it crashes.

Programs such as Ulead's 3d Production Studio, Adobe Premiere, and any video capture software other than Windows Media Encoder will force the error, but I have no problems with products like Paint Shop Pro, or Xara's 3D5.

If anyone could offer some advice on this I'd be very grateful.

I don't know why, but the capture program on my laptop crashes whenever I hit "stop capture" after recording some gameplay footage. The software is up to date (2.0) and I don't know what else to do other than uninstall and reinstall the software. I was recording some gameplay footage earlier today and the program crashed as I hit stop recording. The video file didn't appear when I opened the program again but an m2ts file of the capture did appear in my videos folder with a bugged mp4 file. Options?

Hello Wokka21 and welcome to Seven Forums.

Have you reviewed the steps in the other thread that were suggested?

Windows 7 freezes turn into inability to boot into anything

As mentioned there can you post your system specs?
This could be a hardware issue, with out your system specs it will be difficult for us to recommend the correct tests.
System Info - See Your System Specs
Or you can use: Speccy Free System information Utility

Follow this procedure and post the requested information, even if there are no dump files, the info generated can help us to find the cause.

Start with a HDD test, best to get the app from your HDD manufacturer.
Then memtest86+, run first with all your RAM cards installed, run for a full 7 passes, best to run overnight as it may take a while.

Apologies, just joined. Starting today, I've received several pop-up interceptions from Avira while playing TF2. Most free servers support themselves by running Pinion, which displays flash ads periodically that cannot be skipped. The whole thing is buggy sometimes, and ads won't load properly or the audio will be off. Today, they haven't played at all, but my system occasionally made a threat sound notification, with Avira popups saying that the URL I tried to access was blocked for js/iframe.el.2. I'm not certain that Pinion had anything to do with it. No ads were playing at the time, and aside from the game, I was not accessing any websites. The first time it happened it minimized the game, and i chose to quarantine the item. I had to kill the game process because it locked up. It happened several additional times, with the notification/prompt warning window disappearing when i minimized the game. It happened on different servers, though I'm not certain that it happened on any of Valve's own servers. The alerts only occurred while in game. The text of one of the events"When accessing data from the URL, "http://auto (dot) notecm (dot) com/cpc.php?uid=78&cid=8&msid=1-27860917&affid=27860917&Terms=channel:General"a virus or unwanted program 'JS/iFrame.EL.2' [virus] was found.Action taken: Blocked file" I ran several scans, and Avira didn't turn up anything. Hello,

I built a new PC and everything works great until I boot up a game. I've played: Battlefield 3, WoW, Dead Space, Batman Arkham City, and a few others. After anywhere from 5 minutes to 1 hour the screen goes black, pc powers down, and the system hard reboots.

What I have done so far:
MemTest: 5 passes with no errors
Formatted and Reinstalled the system
Updated Every Driver I can think to update
Run BF3 with only the SSD hooked up
Driver Verification (ran into an issue with Anti-Virus so I uninstalled it and removed the drivers, this was the only time I received a BSOD)
Checked CPU, PSU, and GPU temps (all well within normal operating temps)
Restored BIOS to factory defaults
Nothing is overclocked to my knowledge (the GPU is factory "Superclocked")
Originally I suspected the PSU (it was making a rattling noise/buzz with just the fan running) so I RMA'ed it back to Corsair and they replaced it with a brand new PSU in the same model

I'm sure I left something out, if I remember more I will post again.

I followed the BSOD Posting thread, not sure if there are any dumps in there. I could not find any in the C:\windows\minidumps folders. If you need any more information or reports or anything please let me know and I will post it ASAP.

Any help regarding this issue would very much appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

-xTko

A:Repeated crashes while playing any game with no BSOD

Generic steps to troubleshoot.
I note you have already tried some.

If / when you get a BSOD we will tell you how to upload the DMP files.

There are many reasons why a PC " behaves" this way.
These annoying " gliches" may be caused by an overloaded hard drive, overworked CPU, Malware, running 2 AV 's, unnecessary data, Browser addons or you may have unnecessary programs running in the background etc....

* Make sure that you are not over heating.

* Make sure PSU is working properly.

* If overclocking, restore to original.

*Have you checked in Event Viewer?
Type eventvwr in search.
Go to the Windows Logs > application > in the left hand column note anything red that relates to the problem.
Please note the event ID, and the source codes and tell us what they are.

* Go to search, type device manager and look for any yellow warning markers.

*Try in safe mode; report back if it works properly.
Start your computer in safe mode

*Clean boot. You may discover what is causing your problem.
Troubleshoot Application Conflicts by Performing a Clean Startup

I was playing the game "dungeonmans" and got a crash where my screen went black, and nothing further happened, eventually I powered off the laptop by holding down the power button. Now the laptop boots fine, but after having it on for 5-10 minutes it gets a BSOD and shows the message DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL (bwcW10x64.sys), then restarts.

I have attached my dump file.

Thank you so much for any help you can give.

A:Crashed while playing game, now repeated BSOD

Of major interest is the Manufacture and full model number of the computer if purchased or the system board if custom built.

The latest dump indicates a problem with bwcW10x64.sys. This belongs to Killer Network Manager.

Code:

*** WARNING: Unable to verify timestamp for bwcW10x64.sys
*** ERROR: Module load completed but symbols could not be loaded for bwcW10x64.sys
Probably caused by : bwcW10x64.sys ( bwcW10x64+4809 )
The dump also shows a Qualcom problem with Qcamain10x64.sys. This belongs to Qualcomm Atheros Extensible Wireless LAN 11AC device driver.

Code:
ffffd001`e65f63e8 fffff800`a3c0124cUnable to load image \SystemRoot\System32\drivers\Qcamain10x64.sys, Win32 error 0n2
*** WARNING: Unable to verify timestamp for Qcamain10x64.sys
*** ERROR: Module load completed but symbols could not be loaded for Qcamain10x64.sys

Uninstall Killer Network Manager if you can or if it's part of the Qualcom Atheros wireless then see if you can find a newer version to install. What you have now is the latest I see on the Sager web site. If you can't find anything newer, download the latest from Sager then uninstall and reinstalling the one you download.

After getting my new ABS desktop PC I got from Newegg (ABS Computer Technologies Desktop Computer ALI052 Intel Core i3 6100 8 GB DDR4 1 TB HDD Windows 10 Home 64-Bit - Newegg.com), I can finally use my Roxio Game Capture HD Pro to record gameplay footage without any performance drops. I am using an HP Envy Dv7-7223cl laptop that I installed the capture software on to save the footage while recording. However, after trying it out for the first few times, I noticed a problem. When I played the captured footage on my laptop, I noticed that there was no audio that went with the video footage. I am using an HDMI cable to connect the desktop to the capture card and I know HDMI can send audio.

I looked into the issue and I heard something about enabling Stereo Mix to which I did that and I'm still not getting anything. My audio drivers are also up to date and they are for Realtek HD Audio. Any help is appreciated.

My Elgato HD 60 has what i call a glitch no clue what its actually called, but static pops up on the preview screen and it records it like that static and no audio. If you know how to fix that then thank you that would help a lot.

My real question is, is my processor to weak for the capture to work. I have a Intel Pentium CPU G2020 @ 2.90GHz. The system requirements for CPU are 4th generation Intel Core i5 CPU (i5-4xxx or comparable), 2 Ghz or higher, before Turbo Boost.

I really dont know much about computers so i dont know how to figure out almost any of this stuff.

Hi Xdelx, Welcome to PCHF!

To be honest both of those systems seem pretty low end. What is your budget for a new computer?

Here are the general Elgato Game Capture HD System Requirements.

Windows:

? Windows 7, Windows 8 or later
? 2.0 Ghz (or higher) dual core CPU, or 2.0 Ghz (or higher) multi-core i3, i5 or i7 CPU
? Sound card
? 4GB Total Installed RAM (or higher)
? Built-in USB 2.0 port

You should get a computer that is well above the minimum system requirements. You may be able to run the software with either of those systems but not particularly well.

I'm at a loss and don't want to do a reboot and start again.
I have attached a file that may shed some light on this issue.

Hey, recently I got myself an Elgato HD60 Pro. Without thinking (stupid me), I bought it and found out I have to put it in an I BELIEVE PCI-E 2 slot. But anyways, the slot is directly underneath the slot my GPU is placed. Now, my GPU is pretty big due to the fan meaning it blocks of the slot for my Elgato, meaning I can't plug both my Elgato and my GPU in at the same time.

My GPU doesn't have USB (I've seen a few PCI risers online but they all need USB as far as I understand). Is there a way to - without getting a new motherboard etc - get them both in (I thought of some extension thing for my GPU so I can place my GPU somewhere without directly putting it in the slot)

Sorry if this is messy written, hopefully it's understandable. I have no experience with hardware whatsoever.

I originally submitted a ticket to Elgato about this issue a few days ago, but was just told that my PC's specs weren't new enough to use this device. The ticket I submitted reads as follows:

"Hi. I recently installed an Elgato 4K60 Pro in my PC (replacing my outdated Hauppauge HDPVR60) to record footage at 4K 60FPS OR 1080p60FPS from my Xbox One X and am currently experiencing some serious issues with playback, making the footage that I record almost unwatchable.

When attempting to record in any of the given resolutions listed in the drop down menu of the 4K Capture Utility (even 720), the preview window always seems to appear choppy and is constantly stuttering. I first thought that this choppy-ness was just part of the preview window and that the footage would sort of 'work itself out' upon actual playback (opening the file in some sort of media player once I had stopped recording) but I was wrong. After opening the file, I found that the stuttering (along with what looked like the footage was being sped up) was still present, as it was in the preview window. While using my computer, the screen freezes momentarily. I can still move the mouse, but can't click on anything. When it unfreezes, whatever explorer window I have up, its gets garbled. I minimie the screen after the unfreezing and expant it, all works well. This happens about every 2-3 minits. It first started happening when I had XP Pro SP1. I reinstalled it and installed SP2, made no difference. I reinstalled video drivers and such, but no luck. I am so tempted to go back to 98se. Can someone please tell me how to fix this?

Thank You,
Donald

I would do a check on your hard drive. It sounds like it is maybe searching for things or trying to re-read sectors. Go to your event viewer (right click My Computer > Manage > Event Viewer) and take a look and see if there are any disk errors in there. Also you can run a check disk on it. Open a command prompt and type chkdsk /f /r . This will prompt you to run it at the next reboot, say Y and reboot. Watch it when it finishes and see if the report at the end says there are any bad sectors.

Not sure how to describe this.

Basically, I was playing a game on my PC this evening, and the in game graphics bugged, some of the ground textures disappeared and my frame rate dropped to 2fps or something around that.

Haven't seen it happen before, so I alt+tab out to see if its just the game, which it appears it is.

So I quit, start it up again, and its fine for a few more hours. Then it goes again, but this time differently; hard to describe, the whole screen did a kind of Venetian blind effect, lines would stick and it was clearly a graphics bug... So again, I alt+tab out, and it seems fine, so I quit the game.

Open up Firefox to google the problem and there is pixels sticking almost like the Venetian blind thing, but just probably 6x6 pixel squares... all in the middle of the screen.

Its hard to explain so I tried taking a screenshot as best I could. First things that pop into my mind were overheating, but I have the Asus realtime Overclocking wotsit dooda in the spare CD drive bay which has a realtime display of clock speed, fan speed and temperature and they all seemed normal.

Yes I have got the latest drivers from Nvidia. The card itself is only about 9months old, and my monitor is about a week old.

My Spec is as follows:

AMD X2 4200+
1GB RAM
Asus A8N SLi-SE motherboard
Asus EN8600GT
Windows XP Pro

A:Strange pixelation

Go through your monitor manual and find the method to have it auto-settup.

Try that.

Also, try different settings like 1024x768 etc and 16 bit instead of 32 bit. Just things to mess with to see where the problem starts.

I built my pc about 9 months ago with these parts:

550w Antec PS
P4 Prescott 3.0 ghz 1mb cache
Asus 815p Motherboard
1 MB Corsair select DDR2 Memory (500 (or so) mhz)
80 GB WD caviar SATA HD
ATI X800XL 256 MB DDR2 Video Card
Sony DW-Q30a DVD-RW
XP pro sp2

Everything was great for 9 months, until I started having a major problem. Every time I access my DVD drive, whether to install a program, watch a DVD, or burn a CD or DVD, my PC crashes. Right before it does, it emits a very quiet, high frequency electronic noise ( it is hard to describe), and then the display pixelates. Then the PC locks up and I am forced to restart.

Now, if I leave in a CD/DVD in the drive when I reboot, SOMETIMES the PC will lockup in a similar manner as above during the windows loading.

Things I have done to try and solve the problem:

1.)checked all fans ( including Video Card) to ensure overheating is not an issue. (even while playing resourse intensive programs [doom 3, Call of Duty 2, Far Cry], temps do not go above low 50s C. and ... well,it IS a P4 prescott-- I can hear the fans working....)

2.)Updated--Bios, XP, Video card, dvd drive Firmware.

3.) uninstalled DVD drive and reinstalled.

4.) Cursed, screamed, yelled, made pact with the devil......

So I am at my wit's end.

For your viewing pleasure, I had the opportunity to capture an image of the screen before it locked up, if it might help...

So if you have any suggestion, or have encountered this before, please HELP!

THanks,

A:Pixelation, then Crash!

I've seen the display issue on other models of ATI cards -- though it has never resulted in a physical crash -- just increasingly frequent display corruption until it becomes constant -- even showing it at the BIOS screen.

It's possible the power supply could be a factor here, but I'm inclined to think there is a hardware failure with the card itself -- perhaps it is drawing more load than it should.

If it only happens with DVD drive access then the fault could be with the drive itself overloading the power supply.

Hi all,

I recently built a new computer which is up and running without any prolems...that I'm aware of. In the build I incorporate my old peripherals as they were at or less than a year old, one of these is a NEC 3550A DVD RW. A couple of days after I built this I tried to backup a couple of movies of mine so that I could take them along on the Thanksgiving trek to keep bored individuals occupied. I had done this before and didn't think anything of it and packed them along with the passengers and took off, about half way through the first movie the passengers started rebelling because of glitches in the movie. Under threats of revolt I stopped and checked it out myself, there was pixelation that started out as very mild, hardly disturbing the play, to total disruption and failure of play. I eventually got home and had time to play with this problem but without any success.

I have new software, no change. I purchased some expensive Verbatim media, no change. I had thought that it would have been one of those, but now I'm having to think of other possibilities. It doesn't make sense to me but about all I can think of would be the DVD burner or a driver.

I'm out of ideas and would greatly appreciate any suggestions.

btw, Newegg has sent me a RMA number and I'm sending the NEC back today.

After waking from hibernation, my system has been freezing or crashing. The video is also fuzzy and slightly pixelated for a minute, then it clears up. Sometimes after the crash, I'll get a message floating on the screen "Set resolution to 1280 x 1024" or something like that. The screen has been set the same since I purchased the computer. I did try resetting the resolution, and I am still crashing. I followed the procedure for malware and came up ok.

I tried doing a re-install from my windows disk. Either I missed it, or it did not offer a repair option. Now, when I reboot, after the Intel Pentium 4 screen splash, I get a small menu saying "Please select operating system to start." There are three choices: The one my computer defaults to is "Windows XP Professional," which wants to do another complete re install. Then there are two "Windows XP Media." If I select either of the first two, I get like a brand new computer. None of my settings are there, no desk top, none of my files or software and I would have to start from scratch. Thankfully, when I arrow down to the last selection, I get my desktop and files back, but I had to re-update explorer and a few other updates. And I still crash and it's still pixelated.

Anyone help?

A blue screen flashed momentarily on my computer (Win 7 w Update 1) and afterwards several issues happe3ned, which I think are related. (1) I received a notification that my Antivirus (AVG Free 2015) was not working; (2) Any attempt to turn it on failed, including uninstalling it from the Control Panel and using the AVG uninstall tool (tool would not open). (2) Malwarebytes would not open or update and (3) taking a suggestion from another forum member, I was unable to install a new version of the AVG software over my existing one.

After the blue screen shut down and restarted the computer, this message was shown on the screen.

Hi, I've been having a problem with my new laptop. It was running fine for the first couple weeks I had it, but now about every 30 to 45 seconds or so, it has a short (maybe half a second) moment of unresponsiveness. I notice it most in Photoshop and other graphics programs where it'll miss a couple strokes while drawing or writing, which results in a straight non-pressure sensitive line between where the cursor was before the stall and where it is after; but the problem is not limited to any specific application. I notice it while typing sometimes too, where it's just long enough to miss a keystroke or two.

I can't tell if it's a hardware or software problem, and I don't know where to start on trying to diagnose it. I ran a full boot-time scan with Avast and a full scan with SpyBot S&D, and both came up clean. I defragged the HDD, but that had no effect. Chkdsk didn't find any damaged sectors either.

The problem started after a flight where the laptop was stored in my checked baggage, and it also suffered a couple short accidental falls onto a carpeted floor, so I'm inclined to think the problem might be hardware related. It's still covered under a warranty that's supposed to cover that, but it's currently my main computer, so I'm trying to avoid sending it out and having to go without it for however long it takes to be serviced and having to reinstall all my software and stuff if I can avoid it.

I know this is sort o... Read more

Hello.

I am experiencing a problem when I try to play Starcraft 2. I get past the login screen and within 15 seconds to 5 minutes, my screen pixelates. I can still move my mouse but it is very slow and "crawling" and kinda skips around through the pixelation. Only way to fix it is by restarting my computer from the reset button. I don't have this problem when I'm not attempting to get on SC2, although I have been getting a lot of blue screens lately.

I would also like to note that I have played Starcraft 2 in the past on the same computer with no problems... This seems to be a new occurrence.. I am going to try to open up Diablo 3 and see if that game pixelates / freezes as well after being open..

So, I just got my first "freelance" job as a designer and the guy wants me to create a static image. All he gave me was a pixel size and a pdf of his logo/info. I am using Photoshop to create and the resolution he wants is 376 X 276, and I guess it's going to be used on the tv billboards around the city. My problem is that the logo and text is pixelated pretty bad and I changed the file extension to ai. and tried to see if I could fix the logo in illustrator, but I couldn't. Is it even possible to fix, or would he just have to send me the original vector file? I know that he has CS3 and I had a hard time downloading his logo/info file at first, but when i changed the file extension from .ai.ps to just .ai, i managed to download it, but as aPDF?!? Was he trying to send me the logo in ai. in the first place? What do I do? Also, he wants me to save it out as a mpeg, or wmv so that it can be played on the tvs. He also wanted some sort of animation/effect on it so what is the best program to do that in? I have after effects. Its a pretty basic ad, but im not very knowledgeable in exporting videos. Hope ya'll can help!

Hey guys, my wife's computer recently started locking up with odd shaped color pixelation across the screen. She's been using this rig for about a year and a half with no problems. So I figured it to be an overheated video card, I downloaded Hwmonitor and watched the temps. It does seem a little high, but not high enough to cause a shutdown. So I went through and checked everything else, it all seems fine to me. Voltages and temps on everything all read "ok". I pulled out the video card and blew what little dust there was off of it, and reseated the memory. I uploaded an image of the HWmonitor program (the image taken while the computer was idle(well, idle and posting this)). Anyone see any descrepencies? Thanks for any help.

Hey.

I'm currently getting this problem with Rome: Total War, though I've had it with a number of games over the past few months, namely Civilization IV and Morrowwind. It occurs more frequently with Rome. With Civilization IV and Morrowwind I could often play for many hours without it occuring at all.

What happens is that after Ive played for a random period of time, the game suddenly freezes for a few seconds. Once it unfreezes, the graphics have gone all fuzzy. If I restart the pc and get back into the game, the problems gone, but it happens again after a random period of time. I dont know if it could be overheating, because if it happens, and I restart the pc and get back in the game immediately, it'll be gone. If I close the game and dont restart the pc, wait a few hours, then start the game up again, the graphics will still be fuzzy. I have to restart the pc to get rid of it.

I've got a geforce FX5600. Updated the drivers. Tried going to an earlier driver as well. Tried updating directX.

this is what happens to the graphics:
