Preferred Solution: Avast Virus Scanner: Window\rcdsetup.exe\%sys%\ocxsetup.ws4 Error:unable To Scan Installer Archive Is Corrupt.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

In order to assist you effectively and identify the offending malware, we need more specific information. Please read Before you post about a problem, Some simple guidelines and How To Not Get or Give Technical Assistance on Usenet and Web Forums.What OS (Win 2K, XPsp1, XPsp2, Vista) are you using? What version of your anti-virus are you using?What type of archives and where are they located (full file path)?Are they similar to this?"C:\Program Files\JavaSoft\JRE\1.3.1_01\lib\rt.jar\META-INF\MANIFEST.MF [E] ZIP archive is corrupted. Hey, so. Had no problems with my set-up until recently.

This is what I have, currently:
Windows 7, Quad-Core
8 GB RAM, 750 GB Hard Drive
Intel Core i7

I have Avast! installed as well as MalwareBytes. They've been really good at catching stuff before it can cause a problem. However, here in the past four days, Avast has detected several attempts at attacks on my computer. Avast claims to have successfully moved them to chest. However, now I cannot run a Scan with my Avast - and I can't even get into the Security tab at all.

Not knowing how to handle this... help?
Here's a screenshot of my Avast's Chest:
http://puu.sh/3Myol.png

As stated, I've had no issues until the past four days.

EDIT: I accidentally put this is the wrong spot. Move it please?

 Start/run Rkill: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/308364/rkill-what-it-does-and-what-it-doesnt-a-brief-introduction-to-the-program/

Note: Sometimes AV's thinks Rkill is infected, this isn't true, it's just a false-positive. Just let it terminate the malware processes.

Try to start the scan with Avast (I would do a Boot scan) and MBAM (MalwareBytes Antimalware)

   Running TDSSKiller to obtain log

Note: Don't cure or delete a threat, but choose skip for all instead.
Please download TDSSKiller from here and save it to your Desktop
Doubleclick on TDSSKiller.exe to run the application, then click on Change parameters

In the Additional options: Check Detect TDLFS file system
Click Start Scan and allow the scan process to run

Choose for all threats to Skip for all of them.
Click Continue
Please post the TDSSKiller.[Version]_[Date]_[Time]_log.txt found in your root directory (typically c:\)

If I open up any other folder like pictures, documents, video or music, they work fine. I ran Malwarebytes and Avast on the entire drive. Nothing was found. I also ran Avast just on the desktop folder. Again, nothing. I ended explorer process in task manager and restarted it. Even restarted the computer. Same thing. I ran a SFC /scannow and it said it fix some corrupt files but some could not be fixed. I have attached the log because I'm having a hard time figuring it out. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi,

The operating system is Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit.
There is no problems with Printing, but when trying to scan I get a message that says Scanner communication cannot be established.

I have tried un installing and re installing. Have even gone through everything with HP Tech support to no avail, as when doing a test of sorts there seems to be an issue with the WIA?

Any Ideas?
Thanks.

I have recently uninstalled and (attempted) to reinstall the drivers for a Canon Lide 80 scanner. However, when trying to reinstall the drivers (from the OEM CD or the ones downloaded from Canon), Windows XP does not recognize that the drivers were installed.

Thus when I reboot the computer, a "New Hardware Found" wizard pops up, prompting me to install the drivers for the device. When I attempt to install the drivers using the Wizard, the installation halts with the error message "THE CLASS INSTALLER HAS DENIED THE REQUEST TO INSTALL OR UPGRADE THE DEVICE".

The tech support people at Canon say my operating system has a problem, specifically the registry. Microsoft states they can't help because the drivers are not "Digitally Signed".

Very frustrating. I have no idea what to do. ?Do I have to reinstall the operating system? Buy a new scanner? Help !!!!

Avast! SCAN RESULTS

The following file could not be scanned:

C:\WINDOWS\ServicePackFiles\i386\lang\pintlcsk.dic

Error: Data error (cyclic redundancy check) (23)

My question is what should be done about this if anything?

A:Every time I virus scan with avast! I get the following message:

Forget it. Put it in your "Ignore" list if you know how.

It is a dictionary file most likley, not capable of being infected, and simply not scannable by Avast for some reason.

Not a cause for worry.

I don't know tha cause or the reason, but I do know that it is not worth your precious time to try to figure out.

(Avast does a good job, but it does, like all such tools, miss things once in a while. You may also want to do an occasional scan with the free Malwarebytes scanner, but not its "real-time" module that would appear in the system tray.)

I'm attempting to install windows to a 40GB SSD and I continuously receive the error 0x80070570. My first thought when I got the error was that it could have been an issue with the file itself. So I redownloaded it and still got the same error and from there I've tried nearly everything listed in other threads relating to this issue. Here's a synopsis of everything I've done thus far.

Start:
Removed old hardware, replaced with new mobo, cpu and gfx card
Downloaded Windows 7 Home Premium from microsoftstore.com
Using the Microsoft supplied tool I created a bootable USB flash drive with the ISO
Powered the new hardware on for the first time resulting in a clean boot with zero errors
Booted to Win7 install, ended up with Error 0x80070570
Redownloaded the ISO, Remounted it on the flash drive
Attempted install, still errored
Repeatedly attempted the install sometimes resulting in a freeze of the installer but usually the same error message
Tried installing on my other SSD
Cleaned and reseated RAM and Slots
Did a secure wipe of both SSDs and retried install on both
Attempted install with the ISO burned on a DVD using low speed...same error
Tried reburning multiple times with the same error each time
Ran 5 passes of memtest on both ram sticks in all possible configurations. 0 errors

After all of these steps I still cannot complete an installation. The install errors out at different points of the "expanding" step each time.

Finally in a spate of desperation I tried usin... Read more

There should be a MD5 checksum (or similar) on the MS site that you can use to check the download to make sure it's okay.

Do you have an old SATA or ISE drive you try in this computer, see if that works?
Also, check your BIOS Setup, make sure it's not setup for RAID, make it AHCI if possible.

My Mother-In-Law's HP Compaq dx2450 was infected with the XP 2012 Security Monitor virus and several other I am sure. I installed Avast from a flash drive onto her system (after finding a backdoor to get the .exe file to run), After Avast's removal of oodles of infected files through the root scan, the system rebooted, I am now unable to use the mouse or keyboard. If I safe boot they are still not operational. When I boot normally it loads the desktop and it looks absolutely normal, however the task bar does have several notifications with a red x, (can't really make out what they are, they don't look familiar).
I've booted into setup, but both devices are enabled (and they both work here)
I've booted into recovery and all diagnostic tests come back as pass (both devices work here)
I've used a different mouse (PS/2), still no luck
Both devices use the PS/2 ports
Lastly, the status light on the front of the tower was flashing between green and amber and then went to solid amber after boot

Any ideas as to why they are not being recognized? Thanks for any help.

Hello guys,

As my title says, yesterday my Avast antivirus popped up and said that I had a virus. I was reading the news online so I was caught off guard, but I ran a scan using Avast. During the scan there was another popup that said that Avast had failed to install an update properly. I continued with the scan, but in the end it found nothing (it doesn't scan my webcam, pictures and other JPG documents for some reason though). I also checked its status, which said that it was up to date. I did a scan with Malwarebytes too and it also found nothing incriminating. I did a second scan with Avast again today and it still found no viruses. I did a second scan with malwarebytes too again and it also find nothing incriminating. I also have securitycheck.exe and rkill.exe too on my desktop, but I haven't used them yet.

I'm not sure what exactly is going on, or whether I should be worried or not. My laptop is an Inspiron15 5000 Series and uses windows 8.1. It's only about 2 and a half months old so far.

I'm currently having a problem.

Yesterday my computer started acting weird, youtube stoped displaying its videos after about 5% of the video was watched, pictures randomly loaded corrupt from the internet. I had a bittorrent client running which stopped downloading (only uploading) and all thing it did managed to download came down corrupt and got trown in the discarded data section.

after a while it got worse, sites only loaded up half and a few hours later I couldn't load anything from the internet at all. Virusscanner and spyware scanners turned up negative on anything. I fell back to a previous system restore save which had no effect.

restarting the computer makes the entire process I went trough above start all over again.
I'm currently planning to try to make my windows CD do a repair operation and if that doesn't work a FORMAT C:\ but I really don't want to have to do that.

any of you ever had such a problem occur to you, and how did you fix it, I read something about a Nvidia Firewall being corrupted and resulting in similar symptoms.

My computer has been going into a complete freeze lately (starting last weekend and fixed for the rest of the week after updating java, and started back up again today).

Each program up with one by one say "not responding". I can sometimes close out some of the programs before they stop responding, but trying to open anything new seems to make the problem worse. Each time the freeze happens, my computer goes to a blank black screen where I than force shut off with the power button.

I tried scanning with Malwarebytes Anti-Malware which came up with no results, and then I scanned with Avast! which gave 5 results, but the computer froze again 51% into the scan. I have not been able to do a full scan on Avast! without a freeze.

Freeze's seem to happen mostly when using Skype or Minecraft or Eclipse, but has happened other times without those things open as well.

I have Avast! Running automatic scans once a day and am having a couple of issues:
 About once a week I will get a “Threat Detected” pop-up window post-scan, but when I click on the “Show Results” button it does not work, and when I look at the “Scan History” button and look at the scan it always shows “No Virus Found”.  This pretty much sums it up:
https://feedback.avast.com/responses/threat-detected-during-scan-log-shows-no-virus-found
After each daily automatic scan Avast! Opens a pop-up window showing that the scan was run, even though I have turned off having the pop-up window (when nothing is found) via the Avast! Settings.

This problem occurs on a Dell XPS 8500 desktop running Windows 7.

hi skyy here

2 problems

#1
i just tried to run panda activescan and avast wouldn't let it download... it stopped it and said

My computer has been threatened with a virus and not to worry
File Name: http://acs.pandasoftware.com/activescan/as5free/motor.cab\pskavs.DLL
Malware Name: Win32:CTX
Malware Type: Virus/Worm
VPS Version : 0641-4, 10/13/2006
and told me it stopped it before it got into my computer and for me just to abort connection...

So...I just aborted connection and avast went off again... this time it says

VIRUS FOUND
File Name: C:\WIN2K\system32\ActiveScan\pskavs.dll
Malware Name: Win32:CTX
Malware Type: Virus/Worm
VPS Version: 0641-4, 10/13/2006

and recommended me to move it to chest.

i am afraid to do anything and i am just sitting here with that virus warning going off...

~~~> what to do or is it a negative detection? what's up with this please???
[B]#2[/B]
what prompted me to do this scan is that my YInstStarter Class file is damaged when i checked downloaded files. it was fine yesterday.
can someone please answer these two questions before i go any further?
A:avast detected virus in panda activescan while downloading the online scan
(it seems like everyone is busy with the msn yinstall virus??? )
so...
i went ahead and moved the virus to the chest and when i did, the pandaactivescan tried to finish downnloading and run...
i selected scan computer but it just sat at 0 % scanned and wouldn't begin, but it wouldn't allow me stop and exit either. so...
i x'd out and found the file and scanned it again with avast and the report was...
Scanning of selected files
Action was completed successfully!
Virus has been detected!
File Name: pskavs.dll
FileID: 4
Virus Description: Win32:CTX
i closed it and am now going to run avast full system virus scan including archives.
i don't know what else to do at this point.
i wonder if my damaged YInstStarter Class file is this msn virus that i've been reading about here while waiting???
i don't remember clicking any links in my mail... but i did just in the last two or three days reinstall msn messenger and opened it last night and today... hmm now what?
i guess i will run avast right now while i wait. i wish i had some direction because i am heavily dependant upon the internet almost 24 hours a day and have only my laptop at the moment. i will be lost without it...
please see what you can do to get back to me??? thanks
Long story inbound. I mostly want to know that my windows validation whatever is ok, but any help on the rest of this is highly welcome.
For the past week or so my startup time has been very slow. After seeing the blue welcome screen I would just get a black screen and mouse, no desktop or anything. After a minute or two of letting it sit there it would start normally and run completely fine I couldn't figure out what was causing it. Now, last night I got a popup from avast! saying something along the lines of 'you have 3 PUPs and 9 internal system settings that may be slowing down your computer' with an encouragement to buy the premium version. I've never had avast! bug me like that and thought it was pretty fishy so I uninstalled avast! and restarted. My computer started up at normal speeds again. I'm not sure if a virus caused this or not, but I ran malwarebytes anti-malware in safe mode and didn't find anything, then I downloaded and installed avast! again and ran a bootscan, which just flagged a couple of potentially unwanted programs, but didn't really find anything. Then when windows started up it said something like "preparing your desktop" after the welcome screen, and then it dropped me into a temporary guest account or something and said windows is not genuine. I restarted the computer again and it put me back on my user account and everything looks fine, but I just want to know what's going on.
I did notice that for some reason avast... Read more
A:Avast! boot scan seems to have caused a windows not genuine error.
There is no problem with the validation...everything looka completely normal. The only thing I can guess at is that Avast got a bit aggressive with the system - its common on some systems running different anti-malware.
These tend to be infrequent, but to be safe make an image of the system using Macrium in case yiu ever have restore.
I'm not sure why this is, my account is the Administrator and there are no viruses on my computer. I have also tried to reinstall iTunes but when I run the installer I get this message: 'The Windows Installer Service could not be accessed. This can occur if you are running Windows in safe mode, or if the Windows installer is not correctly installed. Contact your support personnel for assistance.' I am running windows in normal mode although I did start the computer through safe mode a few days ago to resolve a virus issue. I have tried each of the options on the Microsoft Support site and am unable to solve this but nothing has worked. I've even tried to reinstall Windows Installer but that doesn't work for obvious reasons. How can I fix this?Thank you
I just got this problem after I make a change to my hard disk. Appearantly, I want to compress my disk space but I abort it after a few second it started due to the reason it is time-consuming. I uncheck the "compress disk to save disk space".
Then the problem start. I was unable to install "SuddenAttack.msi" which clearly .MSI file extension is used for Window Installer Package. The error code is 1307 which is not enough disk space for Window Installer Package.
I am sure i had a ample of disk space and SuddenAttack should not take more than 800MB of disk space.
Can anyone help me to solve this errror?
When the error message appear, i click retry and it still loop back to the error message.
I running out of solution there. Google doesn't even help either.
Hiya and welcome to Tech Support Guy
Are you still having this problem? If so, do the following:
Download TFC by OldTimer to your desktop
Please double-click TFC.exe to run it. (Note: If you are running on Vista, right-click on the file and choose Run As Administrator).
It will close all programs when run, so make sure you have saved all your work before you begin.
Click the Start button to begin the process. Depending on how often you clean temp files, execution time should be anywhere from a few seconds to a minute or two. Let it run uninterrupted to completion.
Once it's finished it should reboot your machine. If it does not, please manually reboot the machine yourself to ensure a complete clean.
Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from Here or Here
Double Click mbam-setup.exe to install the application.
Make sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
Once the program has loaded, select "Perform Quick Scan", then click Scan.
The scan may take some time to finish,so please be patient.
When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
When disinfection is completed, a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to Restart.(See Extra Note)
Some of the rootkits were in the program I had downloaded but one was in the system restore folder which has been dealt with. My system seems to be operating fully again but is there any action I should take about the installer archive?
