95$ for ASUS PCI geforce2mx- i am still frustrated to death, someone help me....

Q: 95$ for ASUS PCI geforce2mx- i am still frustrated to death, someone help me....

Well Hello Evryone!
Gautam here from india!

Well, i Recently bought this ASUS V7100 geforce2mx 400 pro tv, a PCI based graphics card! After spending literally all the 95$ i collected through the last six months, i still am in a situation where all i can do is bang my head after every 5 seconds my system crashes!

Ok, now coming to the core of the problem,
u see, i have a compaq 7500 presario with intel 810e chipset based motherboard (it really pi**es me off coz it doesnt have any AGP slot in it), anyway so that was the reason i went for this powerful PCI based graphics card!

Well, after i have inserted my card into one of the 4 PCI slots, i literally am running out of every moment of happiness in this world!

The card is very well detected by windows, i have installed the LATEST POSSIBLE DRIVERS (version 12.90 as per current release).
Now, whenever i boot my system, the card gets very well recognised in the begining, but after 5 to 6 minutes (in the windows enviorment), the ENTIRE SYSTEM FREEZEZ !!

If in case i am lucky, the system remains stable for 8 to 10 minutes!

Ok, now before i proceed to anything else, let me tell your that the compaq presario 7500 machine doesnt have lots of option which we can set in the BIOS !
So, i have fiddled with every possible IRQ (interrupt request) settings in the BIOS (BECOZ OF THIS MY ORIGINAL SETTINGS ARE ALSO LOST

So what in the end i hope that if in case there is anyone on this earth which can tell me what is wrong so that i can happily work with my brand new PCI card who's cover is still lying in spick span showroom condition on my table !

Sorry for the long mail, but i couldnt help as i am really disturbed!

If anyone is going to reply me "Asking me to write to ASUS tech support, please for GOD's sake dont waste your time, coz i have mailed them twice"
Best wishes,

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Not a pro when it comes to computers so I would need instructions stepwise.
I did a search for bsod posts and tried some stuff for my pc.
Mostly followed this post :

Also downloaded the TSG SysInfo and this is what it says :

I have this card with tv out.
It has an S-Video port and also a video jack in it.

I cannot get the tv-out to work. I can go into settings and enable twin-view but the configuration for my tv set is greyed out.

I have installed updated drivers and still couldn't get it to work so i uninstalled the card altogether and re-installed the old drivers but still can't get it to work.

When i first bought the card, it worked fine and i was able to watch my VCD collection through the tv but i can't do that anymore.

Thanks for any help you can give

A:Geforce2MX No tv out

It might be a cable problem. Your video card isn't reading the TV. I own a GeForce 2 MX also, and I came across something similar at one point. It ended up being a bad coaxel cable But of course, I'm an idiot so it might not be that simple.

This video card has the Twinview function, but only has a single VGA connection (the version of the card that I have has no TV-out or flat panel connection).
My question is... can I hook up a dual monitor adapter like Y-See Two (or some generic, poorer quality version of it) to take advantage of two monitors? Or do I ABSOLUTELY HAVE TO buy a second video card? I really want to be able to use two monitors with the single card, so I hope that using an adapter will work . Thanks.

twinview cards have two monitor outs, you must have the non twinview card, sorry

I have an Asus U50A laptop running Windows 7 (64bit) Home Premium.

For the last 2 months I've been getting a blue screen that does a memory dump then crashes the computer. It doesn't happen every day, about 1x/week. I have already updated the machine and I think I updated all of the drivers, but I could be wrong about that.

I just scanned the computer and the results are attached. Anyone that can provide some analysis and suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I'm close to just getting rid of the computer and starting fresh.

Hey guys!

In the summer of '10, I bought an Asus K70ID notebook. When I first started it, everything seemed allright. But when I started installing software, the BSOD appeared.. There are weeks were I don't notice anything, and everything works good, but sometimes he just crashes 6 times in a row..

The message says that I have to delete newly installed files and try again, but I did, and the BSOD still appears.. It mostly appear when I use my processor a lot (iTunes, MSN, gaming etc.)

I phoned the story I bought it from, and they told me that I had to put it back to factory settings. I did, but still the BSOD appears..

Last week the office manager at my job went to lunch and upon returning found her ASUS i5 laptop frozen solid.  She did a hard shut down and tried to restart, when the computer came back on, it was a black screen that said "failure to connect media".  I turned off the computer and removed the HD.  I plugged the hd into an external connection kit to my laptop and found that it was emitting a clicking sound and wouldn't load.. so I know the HD is bad.  I burnt Ubuntu to a DVD rom and put that into the computer, I then changed the boot method to booting from the DVD drive.  When the computer restarted it came up with a black screen with nothing on it.  I removed the DVD and tried to reboot, the same thing happened.  I went out and purchased a new HD and tried to reboot, the system lights are on, but still a black screen.
I have taken out the battery, HD, and let the PC sit for about 30 minutes and then tried to reboot, same black screen.  Today I brought in a USB diagnostic tool and used it on the computer without the HD in it.  The code that displayed on the LCD was 'FF' which is a boot issue and usually points to the HD, correct?  I also plugged the laptop to an external VGA monitor, nothing came up, so I know the screen is not dead.  The laptop is only 9 months old.
Right now the only thing useful I can use this PC for is a paper weight.  Any ideas on how to solve the issues at hand?  ... Read more

But it keeps showing blue screen of death whenever I try to install windows.

I only have windows xp CDs.
So I'm trying to install windows xp SP2 by booting from my DVD drive/rom thing.
and it tries to boot and the cd in the dvd rom starts turning.
but after all that system configuration stuff shows up on the bottom of the screen and it says "setting up windows files" or w/e..and its trying to go into the partition menu....

it suddenly just shows blue screen.

I don't know what I can do.

both of them worked on my old computer.

and my Hard drive shows up on the boot menu as well.
so its not that..

also i took a camera photo of the bluescreen error.

That blue screen error is because the Windows disc you're using doesn't have the correct drivers to support your hard drive. If you have a floppy drive, you can download the Mass Storage drivers for your mother board to a floppy disc and press F6 when prompted by Windows setup.

You could also go into your BIOS setup and change your SATA operation to Compatible mode (may be worded differently) for the installation. Or you can download the storage drivers and slipstream them into your install disc with nlite

Not sure I understand how you could perform a factory reset if you don't have the recovery partition available. You should have gotten an error that the ASUS Recovery Partition could not be found.

You would need to get to a working computer and download either the Media Creation Tool for W10, or the current ISO from MSTechBench. You can use RUFUS to create a bootable flash drive, and then install W10 that way.

You might also want to check the health of your hard drive, to make sure it's not failing.

Hope that helps!

CPU: AMD64 Athlon X2 4400+
Motherboard: ASUS A8N32-SLI DELUXE
Memeory: SAMSUNG PC3200 2GB (1GB x 2) DDR400

Status: After installing Windows XP SP 2 and the ASUS motherboard installation CD, the system won't take the drivers for the GPU. System boots to the Windows XP loading screen and remains there. The little green bar just keeps moving like it's loading Windows but it loops forever. Again, this started happening right after installing the nVidia drivers from the graphics card installation disc. If I power down manually and then power back up again, I can go into "the last known good" but every time I try to load drivers again, the system starts doing this. The latest drivers from nVidia cause the same issue. I'm starting to think this is a driver conflict with the ASUS motherboard chipset or the motherboard RAID drivers. Has anyone else had a problem like this?

A:ASUS A8NSLI-32 Deluxe + ASUS En7600GS Silent Trouble

Followup: I was able to fix it and thought I'd post this info since it might help others who might have the same problem. After reading through dozens of pages here and in the ASUS forums, I discovered that one of my default BIOS setting mysteriously ended up in a non-default state. For some reason, the RAID option for Silicon Image was set to RAID. That's fine for those how actually want to setup RAID but I didn't plan to use RAID at the time. After making the change to the BIOS, I had to install Windows XP again to get everything registered correctly. Once Windows was up and running, I avoided the motherboard chipset install CD all together by using only the newest versions of all the motherboard drivers directly from the ASUS website. Problem solved!

HI all,

I am having problems detecting the Xonar Pheobus and have tried all the pcie slots with no luck. Red and the grey - even the shorter grey slot.

Have disabled the motherboard's HD onboard sound too and still not detected in my devices......

The pcie cable is connected to the sound card and I have enough PSU to power all - Enermax 1250W.

When the card is inserted to the grey slots - The red light is seen through the control extension box (Headphone/Microphone Connector box) jack ports. However the green light is NOT seen AND the Xonar Phoebus logo on the card itself is lit (powered up)

However, when I insert the card into the red pcie slots these lights are not on.

One this else I noticed is the card DOES go warm over some time so tells me it is 'not' switched off........

I tried to install the driver and I get a message 'no card detected' etc etc.
Is there anyone kind enough to advise me their BIOS settings etc who has managed to get the Xonar to work properly. Did you have to adjust any BIOS settings from default to get the card to be recognised?

Printscreens would be cool if it is not too much of a bother.

Thank you in advance

Kind regards

A:Asus Xonar Phoebus and Asus Rampage 5 Extreme issue

The question(s) I have is ->
Am I missing anything when attempting to install the sound card? I have tried with no GPU drivers (including the Nvidia sound for the GTX 750 ti sc) / disabled onboard HD sound and still the sound card not detected.
Even in this motherboard, it should detect the sound card regardless of what sound source is set as default and then allow me to install it and set it as default (without messing about with the BIOS)?
Maybe my sound card has died when moving it from the last computer - Static death.....................

I have in my possession an Asus X550CA laptop which was running Windows 8.1 before it failed to boot. The machine cycled through the automatic repair, failed, and then did nothing. The advanced bootup options were useless, including chkdsk, sfc and the usual suspects. The recovery partition was apparently missing, atleast, I couldn't use it, but doing a diskpart confirmed it was there so I suspect the 8.1 upgrade broke the link to it.

I tried the "refresh your PC" option, but this told me the drive was locked, and disabling secure boot via the BIOS did nothing (thought it would at first). In addition, the reset your PC option wanted recovery media which I didn't have at the time.

I ordered the official Asus recovery DVDs as the laptop did not have media created when it was new, hit F9 and went to the "reset your PC' option, but it told me the recovery media wasn't valid. Odd given it's official Asus media from Mentor Media, for that specific machine.

From the legacy BIOS I booted from the DVD, it loaded the Asus specific Windows 8 recovery options from the disk and I get as far as "Start rebuild Windows system process", with "processing...." underneath and the machine does no more.

I've also tried UEFI booting from the DVD drive and get the same as above.

Any suggestions welcome please!

A:Unable to restore Asus X550CA using Asus recovery DVDs

Is the ASUS recovery media Windows 8.0 or 8.1? It may be because the recovery disks are 8.0 and it's a conflict because your now running 8.1. The 8.0 to 8.1 upgrade does break the factory recover feature on some laptops. ASUS for sure I think. I have a K75DE, that shipped with Windows 8.0. I clean installed with Windows 8.1 from here, Create installation media for Windows 8.1 - Windows Help. It reads and uses my 8.0 OEM embedded code and activates online automatically. no muss no fuss. That tool will create a bootable USB thumb drive that will work with UEFI for you. If you need any more info just ask and i'll see if I can help. I don't know why your getting the "Start rebuild Windows system process" message and the lock up? It may be because the partition structure has changed on the Drive. I created a Recovery drive, then swapped in an SSD and it would not work on the SSD. It kept saying required partition missing. That's why I bailed and did a clean install. I was leaning in that direction anyway.

EDIT: If I don't get back to you tonight don't panic. I have company coming and may not get back online until tomorrow morning. Have to go now.

My almost 3 year old Asus X52 F3SV Notebook suddenly froze and shut itself down today. It will not boot past the 'Asus' logo screen. The furthest it got was 'loading windows', but quickly rebooted once that screen showed up.
It has been running quite hot lately, but i cleaned the fan out last weekend, and it had been running without problem since then.
I'm running Windows Vista Premium, with no other real problems until now, with up to date windows updates and regular Spybot and anti-virus scans.
There were random multicoloured lines running through the Asus screen on the first reboot after freezing. Could it be my graphics card? (Nvidia 8600m). I did not hear any crackling/popping sounds, so I really hope it's not dead yet.
I've looked around these forums, but couldn't find a similar problem/solution.

Thank you.

A:Asus x52 F3SV notebook not booting past Asus screen

Try running Bios defaults

This settings area can be called:
Bios Setup
CMOS Settings
System Setup
even just Setup
You can enter it by pressing the keyboard key that is displayed on your screen when first turning on your computer
Its sometimes:
A Fn Button like F1, or F2, or F10 or some other Fn key
DEL key
(whatever the computer states on screen when you first turn on your computer)
Once in Bios Setup, locate Setup Defaults (sometimes called Optimized Defaults)
Apply it, then Save and Exit Bios Settings (which is usually F10, but it will tell you in the Bios Settings screen)

If that doesn't help try reming and re-seating your Ram cards (even your hard drive)
You can download your Manual to find the locations of these components, but they are usually located under the laptop, under the covers

If it is your Video card (onboard) then that was be a big concern
You may need to locate the disassemble guide online, then blow out all internal dust

It may also require a CheckDisk scan
You can read HERE on how to do that outside Windows

Tried to get HP support to give some similar board model from ASUS' own models so I could get the correct Asus AI Suite to control fans, read system info. The similar Asus model they gave didn't even have the same chipset. I'm not sure if that truly matters as far as their AI Suite working correctly. Just need a reliable program to adjust case fan speeds a bit. Simpler is better.

1) Does anyone know how I can cross the HP / Asus board w/ some similar model on Asus' site to get the correct version of AI Suite?

2) If no to # 1, suggestions on reliable prgms that will allow controlling fan speeds?
Fairly sure this mobo has the ability to adjust fans. 1st tried SpeedFan - no options to adjust any fans (reports them), but MSI Afterburner had no trouble adjusting GPU fan.

None of several socket 775 boards I looked at on Asus' site had G33 chipset.

The info HP has for this mobo is

Manufacturer's motherboard name: Asus IPIBL-TX
HP/Compaq name: Burbank-GL8E
Form Factor Micro-ATX: 24.4 cm (9.6 inches) x 24.4 cm (9.6 inches)
Chipset Intel G33
Front-side bus speed 800/1066/1333 MHz (processor dependent)
Processor upgrade information
Socket type: 775

I am putting this in the general forum section, and please bear with me. I had posted earlier a thread about my Asus Ultrabook backlit keyboard not illuminated. Thank you all that have responded to that post, but nothing worked. I ended up sending in my Asus for RMA and warranty repairs.

Here is where the fun starts. I first made my case with Asus and they informed me that my Serial Number was invalid. I told them that it is wrong as I bought the Laptop from MemoryLabs.com, which is a Certified Asus Re-seller. It even posts their name on their website in "Where to Buy Asus".

Please do not take this as racist or anything derogative, but the Asus support staff are all located in India, and there is no way to talk to a person in America. The repair facility is also contracted out to a company called BizCom in Milpitas, California. Now, the men and women who work at the support center in India do their best, but to my understanding, they are a separate company working to just take calls. Same with the BizCom company, which they are great, but again contracted so there is nobody who works for Asus or knows Asus's RMA system.

My laptop has been sitting at the repair center with no updates from Asus. When I contact the support center directly, they said the Serial Number was Invalid and that they had to talk to Asus about the warranty service. I though Asus already fixed this when I sent them my Invoice of the Laptop and that it was a certified Reseller?

A:Asus UX51VZ-IS71T: Question on Asus Support?

I had correspondence with ASUS via e-mail. It was a while ago now, I think it was a link on their web site. It was a waist of time really. I wasn't impressed. Replies took forever and the answers seemed to be scripted responses. I eventually just gave up asking any more questions. My issue was with creating recovery media. At that time there was no way of creating a recovery disk set in Windows 8.0. The utility I was referred to only worked in Windows 7. It became a non issue when I put an SSD in my laptop and did a clean install of 8.0.

Most of those contracted out call centers go by a flow chart. Ask this question, if the answer is yes, take this branch, if its no, take this other branch. The person asking you the questions may have no technical background at all. As soon as you say I don't know, your basically screwed. Assuming you can actually understand what they are saying. I'm not racist, but I don't think its unreasonable to be able to talk to somebody that is fluent in my native language. It seems to be the luck of the draw sometimes. I've had some that I could understand easily, and some that were almost impossible to understand.

So I recently just replaced my Asus P6X58-E WS with another Asus P6X58-E WS from Amazon. I always remember hearing to ignore the drivers disk on CD that comes with product and go straight to web-sight and gather latest. (I ALWAYS keep CD for just in case moments) When I was running Win7 last year on old MB, this was never a issue and downloaded drivers from Asus web site, but when I recently went to the Asus drivers download site, there are no options for win8? (Screen Shot Below)
Here Is my problem... After Installing new MB and testing OS operations with only my SSD pluged in (OS win8 is on SSD) everything was working great!! this also confirmed a few of my last MB memory slots were fried because I had 18GB of memory installed but BIOS & OS was telling me I had only 6GB.. Im back @ 18GB now...
I also had QTY6 1TB-HDD I was using with previous MB ( No raid configurations) I record music and many project files can get very big so, each HDD was dedicated to different "IMPORTANT" things. Well, after confirming OS win8 was in working order, I powered down and plugged in all 6 HDD, then powered back up. (I wish I would have done this one HDD at a time now) only 2 are being recognized!!! I keep getting the message....
"you must initialize a disk before logical disk manager can access it"
Now, from what I've gathered from a Google search, this is what you would do to format a NEW hard drive, Correct? I then was reading its as simple as downloading lates... Read more

A:NEW!! Asus P6X58-E WS MB. No Win8 Drivers on Asus website?

From what I found on the Asus site....
ASUSTeK Computer Inc. -Support- Drivers and Download P6X58-E WS
They are only providing drivers up to Windows 7 64 Bit. You can go to the file manager and click one time on the primary HDD and then click computer tab and from there click on manage. From there you click device manager and you will get a list of your hardware. You can right click on each one and click update driver and the system will try to find the updated driver for you. If anything you now have your hardware name and can try to get the updated driver through the actual company who builds the drivers.

It also does sound like you may need to format the HDD's. Do the same thing but instead of clicking on device manager you will click on disk management and you can right click on each drive and select to format. Just make sure to not format the primary partition if that is even possible.

Ok, i've been trying to fix this by reading old threads and learning stuff but i'm real frustrated right now. Here's my deal, i'm running Win98 and just to start it up i have to do a step by step and NOT run the system reg or the autoexec.bat to get windows to start. I just got my msconfig to work today but my regedit doesn't even come up at all. It just shows the loading cursor then nothing. I've tried installing Spybot but the install program won't work, it's the same install program that i've tried using for other things and it never works. It just says as soon as it loads 'are you sure you want to exit the setup before it completes' and then opens the same window again, and again, and so forth. My computer will be okay on speed when i first turn it on, but if i come back to it an hour later it's slow as hell and my sys resources are shot. I think that's about my only problems now. Here is my hijack this log, i already cleaned it up some after going through the tutorial on here and checking all of the files. I haven't done that startup log thing but if that will help, i will. I'm running Zone Alarm and AVG Anti-Virus, when i did the scan with that it came up with Win32/Hantaner (about 10 times), Trojan Horse backdoor.mosuck, Worm/KWbot (about 40 times), Trojan Horse musichsearch, and I-worm/Yaha.G. But apparently they were all healed or moved to the "virus vault". Remembered something else... Read more

Hello everyone,

Below I have posted my HT log. I do not know what else to do. Here is the problem that I have been having for the past few weeks. My computer is running slower than ushaul. The other thing that shows that there is a problem with my computer is that my sound for my computer is messed up. Any music or sound clips that play are distorted and skip. I have AdWARE on my computer and have had to run that daily and it finds junk daily which is unushaul for my computer. I don't ushally have to run it daily. I also have McAfee Virus scan and have run that and it has found nothing. I had spysweeper, but had to uninstall it because I did find a problem assoiciated with it. I also make sure to run my disk cleaner every so often and clean out my temporary internet files and compress old files. I also defraged my computer recently as well. My computer is running a tiny bit better since I have cleaned some of the junk out. Yet, I know there is a problem, virus or other damage somewhere on my computer. I really hope someone can help me! Thank you!

Hi, dawnlopez.

First, Download LSPFix.exe to a convenient location. Do NOT run this program. This is only to be used if you lose Internet Access after removing NewDotNet.

Go to Start > Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs and remove the following:

New.Net Applications or New.Net Domains (anything that says New.Net)

If it is not there, go here and follow Procedure 4: NewDotNet Removal Procedure 4.

In the event that you lose Internet access after removing New.Net, please double-click LSPFix.exe that you downloaded earlier. Check the "I know what I'm doing" button. You will see 2 panels. If there is any file listed in the "Remove" panel on the right-side, leave it as is and just click "Finish>>" then reboot your computer and you should now have access to the Internet. If nothing is listed under the "Remove Panel", do NOT do anything - just close the program. You will need to use another computer to come back here for further instructions on what to do.

Download new.netfix.exe by noahdfear. Save the file to your desktop. Double click, then click Start to extract the contents to it's own folder. Open the folder and double click the RunThis.bat file to start the tool. Follow the prompts and post the contents of the new.net.txt file it creates in the folder.

MBAM may "make changes to your registry" as part of its disinfection routine. If using other security programs that detect registry changes (ie Spybot's Teatimer), they may interfere or alert you. Temporarily disable such programs or permit them to allow the changes.

* Make sure you are connected to the Internet.
* Double-click on mbam-setup.exe to install the application.
* When the installation begins, follow the prompts and do not make any changes to default settings.
* When installation has finished, make sure you leave both of these checked:
o Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
o Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
* Then click Finish.

MBAM will automatically start and you will be asked to update the program before performing a scan.

* If an update is found, the program will automatically update itself. Press the OK button to close that box and continue.
* If you encounter any problems while downloading the definition updates, manually download them from here and just double-click on mbam-rules.exe to install.

On the Scanner tab:

* Make sure the "Perform Quick Scan" option is selected.
* Then click on the Scan button.
* If asked to select the drives to scan, leave all the drives selected and click on the Start Scan button.

Hello,I see you are having Logitech desktop messenger. If you don't use it, I suggest you uninstall it, because it's known that this causes a system slowdown and can cause errors. Please reboot after uninstalling. I also see that you are having Mcafee, AVG and traces of norton. It is a real bad idea to install more than one antivirus on your system, all having them running in the background the same time.. Several together can give problems and decreases the reliability of it seriously! So I strongly suggest to keep only one and uninstall the rest. Please don't forget to reboot afterwards!!You didn't unzip/extract hijackthis.. and it's still in the tempfolder. So I strongly advise to unzip/extract hijackthis.zip.Read here how to unzip/extract properly:http://metallica.geekstogo.com/xpcompressedexplanation.htmlCreate a permanent folder and move hijackthis.exe into it. The reason is because hijackthis creates backups and when it's in your temp-folder it can be accidentally deleted. How do you make a permanent folder:Click My Computer, then C:\ and then on Program Files. In the menu bar, File->New->Folder.That will create a folder named New Folder, which you can rename to "HJT" or "HijackThis".Now you have C:\Program Files\HijackThis. Put your HijackThis.exe there. It's better to print out the next instructions or save them in notepad, because you also have to work in safe mode without networking support, so this page wouldn't be ava...
