I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

In other words, you can't see all your personal folders or you can't see them correctly.

Go to Start-Find-files or folders and type in *.pst and look on your entire C: drive.

Then, in Outlook, hit File-Open, and make sure you've already got all these PSTs open.

I had a crash and the operating system had to be restored non-destructively. The backup operation saved the Microsoft Outlook .pst file. I have now recovered all the e-mails but the Contacts folder is "empty" when looking for an address. The Contacts folder (as well as the Calendar folder) also does not appear in the list of folders in the Navigation Pane. If I attempt to export a comma separated file (DOS) from the Personal Folders, the "Contacts" folder appears in the window when browsing for the folder to export. If I export that file, all the contacts are there complete with all the addresses when viewed as an Excel file. Any suggestions on how to integrate the contacts into the Personal folder without having to recreate a contact file manually from the Excel file? Cheers, Wondering Willy

I recently moved some messages (with attachments) from my inbox to the journal folder. I did this by opening the message and going under file --> move to folder... and selecting journal. When I do this a new jouranl entry is created with a shortcut to the email, but when I click on the shortcut an error message appears saying that the file has been moved or deleted. The message is no longer in the Inbox and as far as I can tell the file is deleted. Microsoft acknowledges there is a problem in there knowledge base but simply says not to do it. I need these files is there any way to get them back. Seems like a pretty big Bug

Help! please and thanks Peter44

A:OutLook 2000 lost my formating

In order to use formatting in Outlook 2K you have to use Word as your mail editor. Got tools ->options and click on the mail format tab. Make sure that "Use Microsoft Word to edit email messages" is checked.

This option can become deslected if you have a popup window (i.e. the envelope window in Word or the print window) open and open an email without closing the windows first.

Cheers.

I had to recently reinstall Office 2000 standard and now in Outlook when I click on the "To" button to select name to send to I no longer get my Contacts folder to show up as an option in the "Show names from" list. It shows my Global address list for my Exchange Server but does not show Contacts. Worked fine before I reinstalled Office 2000. All of my contacts are still there but doesnt do much good if I cant select any of them to send to. If I try to send to a distribution list created in my contacts directly from my contacts folder(by selecting the list and clicking New Message to Contact), I get error telling me "Microsoft Outlook does not recognize distribution list".

Am running Win98. LAN runs NT 4.0 with Exchange 5.5. My mailbox is on server. Any help is appreciated.

A:Contacts selection lost in Outlook 2000

First, no panicking!

1. Hit Tools-Services. If Personal address book is already in there, go to #2 below. If it is not already in there, hit the Add button and add the PAB file. You may still need to look for your existing pab file using the find-files in #2.

2. Hit Start-Find-Files or folders and look for *.pab files on your hard drive. If nothing considerable (over 30KB), then look for them on your network drive, if you've got one, you'll be wanting to select it when you add it as a service, or move to #3.

3. You had personal address book already listed as a service. You found the name of your PAB by using 2, above. Go to Tools-Services, select personal address book and remove it as a service. Then add it back in as in 2.

Adding and removing services DOES NOT AFFECT the existence of files that are used with these services, such as *.PAB or *.PST files. They are still on your hard drive.

One computer on the network that used to see the netfolder called appointment calendar has somehow disconnected itself. I have cancelled the shared folder and deleted the old appointment calendar and sent a new invitation but when I click accept on this computer message is that it cannot accept net folder. It is running Outlook 2000 - not Exchange. Also if I go to try and share a folder the options are "grey" - cannot select any share options.
what caused this sudden failure in net folders? User claims not to have changed any settings at all - but does Microsoft updates all the time - is it possible that a recent update cancelled the sharing function?

A:net folder in outlook 2000

When a computer is not connected to an Exchange server the folder sharing options are unavailable. Are they having any issues with connecting to the internet as well? If so check the network cable/card and see if your data light (Green one) for activity. If that is ok check her Exchange account settings and network settings etc.

Sounds like a setting could be off, check the settings for your mail servers and make sure any logon credentials or server entries have been typed correctly. Hello, I am browsing this forum and it is certainly been a big help to me! Now I have a question. Can Outlook be set to view images sent within an email? I have searched Microsoft's website, and pehaps did not dig deep enough, but I found nothing there to help me. When I receive email through Outlook, not Outlook Express, I can't see any images. What it does, it sends the images as attachments and I have to click on each one to view, instead of simply scrolling through the email itself, to view the images. Thanks for any help!

Safe Mode enables Outlook to detect and either repair or bypass the source of the problem, such as a corrupted registry or a misbehaving add-in. When Outlook boots in Safe Mode, it displays a dialog box explaining the problem and asks if you want to continue to load the program in Safe Mode or attempt a normal restart.

You can start Outlook 2002 or any other Office XP application in Safe Mode at any time: Hold down the [Ctrl] key when starting Outlook. The program displays a dialog box that gives you the option of starting in Safe Mode. Another way to start in safemode is to launch the program using the following command line switch: Outlook.exe /safe

Once Outlook starts in Safe Mode, go to Help | About Microsoft Outlook, and click Disabled Items. This opens a Disabled Items dialog box that lists the items that Outlook has disabled to start in Safe Mode. You can then attempt to correct the problem--for example, disable or remove an add-in.

Hope this helps you solve your issue.

Thanks everybody for previous help..I have purchased another PC..Can anyone advise this amateur how I can get my favourite `OUTLOOK 2000` Mail service transferred from the old PC to my new one ?.
Many thanks....jon2891.

A:Microsoft Outlook 2000

What version of outlook were you using on your old pc?
Also, I am not too clear on what exactly you would like to transfer but I will answer with a few assumptions.

If you have the same version of outlook on the old and the new computer you can company the outlook data file by doing the following:

Old PC
1. Open Outlook
2. Go to File
3. Data File Management
4. Click on Open Folder
5. Copy the .pst file (it should be outlook.pst) to a floppy disk or a memory Key.

New PC
1. Retrieve the outlook.pst file from the storage media floppy disk or memory key.
2. Point outlook.pst file to the default file location it should be something like this C:\Documents and Settings\jon2891\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook\outlook.pst (Note: if you can't find the folder Local Settings you need to turn on the option to display hidden folders)
3. If you are prompted to replace the file say yes.

I hope this helps. Please reply it did not help.

I went to file, open .pst, which then opened an old .pst I had in Explorer. This was opened in my folder list. After reviewing I decided to delete it from explorer. What I forgot to do is "close .pst" before I deleted it from Windows Explorer.

Now I have this .pst (just name, no contact info) stuck in my folder list view. Is there anyway of getting it removed from my folder list or am I stuck with it. It's not taking any space up for me, but I have to look at it every time I open or look in my folder list.

Thanks for any insight you may be able to provide.

I have office 2000, and my O/S is xp. for about 3 yrs now, no problem, but recently, I'm noticing that when I open outlook, it takes almost 1 minute for it to load up. I have deleted a whole bunch of useless emails and older ones as well. So basically, I thought it would speed it up, no go, even slower.

Is there a place in either my hard drive or in the outlook itself that it stores files or emails? or any other recommendations would be appreciated.

Thanks

I'm running office 2000 on XP OS. I was trying to upload pages to a new website and I turned off the firewall. Left it off all night with PC still going.
Tried to get on the Internet and kept getting the white page sever not found.
Uninstalled IE and reinstalled. Still did not work. Downloaded Spybot and ran it. Found allot of crap. Cleaned it all off and IE worked again but now if I try to open Microsoft Outlook I get this message.
This feature requires Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.01 or greater.
If I try to open Front Page I get this error.
This feature requires Microsoft Internet Explorer 3.00 or greater.

IE is working fine so I'm not sure what to do here.

Please post and email me if possible.

Thanks,

Robert

I am trying to uninstall and reinstall microsoft outlook 2000. I want to be able to start up outlook with no user information in it...no contacts, no calendar entries, no mail accounts etc.
I am able to uninstall (and reboot) and have run Eraser2000 (from the ms website) to clean the registry....but everytime I reinstall from my disks and restart outlook, all the user data is still there.

I am trying to figure out how to reset the software back to the first time it was loaded and start from scratch. I can't find the files MS stores the user data in to delete. I have tried to delete a bunch of other stuff MS recommends in a tech note, but all those folders say they are locked by another user when I try to delete.

The real reason I am doing this is I use the sharing (Net Folders) feature of outlook 2000 to run one calendar on 2 PCs. I have had this working for 2 years, but outlook recently started crashing on the master PC. I am trying to get the sharing working again but have not been able to. So, I figure the best way to get it working again is to reinstall and start from scratch, but I am not able to start from scratch.

I can reinstall with the old data coming up, start up file sharing like it is supposed to do, but it never starts sending the email messages to synch up the 2 calendars.

So, any thoughts on how to find the outlook data files and remove them or how to get my calendar sharing working again would be appreciated.

One suggestion I received was to reinsta... Read more

After working perfectly, Outlook will no longer respond to search for entries in the Contacts folders from the empty box where one normally enters a contact name.

I have run "repair Office 2000 Professional," uninstalled and resinstalled, but I am unable to run a search for a contact except by using the Find Feature.

The change seemed to have occured when I synched my laptop to my PC. (The PC works fine, the problem occurs only on the laptop).

As the search contacts is a critical function, I will appreciate a solution. Thanks!

*NOTE* I am running XP and Office 2000 I am very happy with these so please DO NOT recommend that I upgrade. Thank you. *NOTE*

When I try to create the folder this comes up every time(please see attached image):

These are the instructions from here:

Create a New Personal Folder
To finish the process you need to define a new personal folder for the user. To do this, use the following steps:
On the File menu, point to New, and click Personal Folders File (.pst).
Type the name of the new Personal Folder. Verify and change the file location if necessary. Click Create. Note Do not use the name mailbox.pst.
Verify and change the information if necessary, and then click OK.
If the Folder List does not appear, on the View menu, click Folder List.
Right-click the new Personal Folders, click "Properties for <Personal Folders>", and click "Deliver POP mail to this personal folders file," click OK.
On the File menu, click Exit. Restart Outlook.
In the Folder List, right-click the Personal Folders not associated with Outlook Today, click Properties, click Advanced, and verify that the path of this file is different than the one you created in step 2. Click OK twice to close the dialogs.
In the Folder List, right-click the Personal Folders not associated with Outlook Today, and click Close "Personal Folders Name."

Step 2 is the one that crashes Outlook. Is there a patch to get around this error?

A:Outlook 2000 create new personal folder (pst) error

Hi Jim
Are you creating a new .pst file due to storage issues with your current .pst folder?

Were you getting any errors in Outlook before attempting to create the new .pst file?

Have you attempted to create the .pst file using the Mail applet in the Control Panel, with Outlook not running?
