I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I bought my Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro in end of March2014.Yes, 2014.I used it happily for about 3 months and then suddenly I got the blue screen and then it never turn on again ... NEVER EVERI bought it in USA in Knoxville, TN at a best buy, but at that moment I lived in Berlin, Germany. So I tried contactng Lenovo Customer service there and they say becuase i did not buy the extended warranty, they could not do anything I have to solve it with US Customer Service. In February 2015 i travelled again to USA for work, and then I tried solving my problem. Only to find out Best Buy did not recognize my purchase because I did not have the ticket and they could not look me up on the systme... that was a lie... which I beleived... So i returned to Germany with my "brick" ( that's how i call my Lenovo Yoga since then).I live in Argentina for the past 2 years, I took the brick to a couple of services (even Lenovo "official" Services in Buenos Aires) and they both said there is no solution is motherboard problem is completely dead and useless...I am in USA one more time for travel, this time in Atlanta and back in Knoxville. I wouldlike to have a solution for this, whatever works... I do not want to carry the brick with me anymore. I am leaving to Argentina on Monday morning, I tried contacting Lenovo through Support but they did not answer so I am talikg my last shot through here in the forums (I just read some people got their problems fixed in the last month or so).I don't mind what I g... I had a YP3.  Started having big problems with the USB/charging system a while back and bought a second one.  Then it started having the same problem and I troubleshooted it to the bus issues on other posts.  As I recall it was a combination of things: a windows 10 change in power settings, finicky chargers that need to be replaced often, and then I often had to hold the power button for 30 seconds when rebooting in order for the USB to work.  So both were working and I bought one for my mom.   About 2 months ago one of mine was working fine, the screen went blank, and the computer was dead.  Nothing would bring it back.  Switched to the second, which had the exact same issue a month later.  Now my mom's just did the same thing.  I seriously can't believe they all happened to have hardware failures within 2 months of each other.  What the heck is going on this time?

I have owned the lenovo yoga 910 for less than two years and it died after 13 months of very light use right after the 1 year warrenty ended! The laptop stopped accepting any charge and was useless because when the power ran out it would never turn on again because it would never charge again. Lenovo support refused to help solve any problems fixing the laptop and told me to go to geek squad at Best Buy to fix it. Geek Squad confirmed the charging problem was none other than the motherboard and USB Type C board being completely fried and needing a full replacement that was foing to run me a stiff $530!!! Thats an entire THIRD of the price of the ?PREMIUM? laptop i just purchased almost nearly ONE YEAR AGO! This is insanely ridiculous to sell a one year lifespan  laptop at $1500 and refuse to repair it when it was at absolutely no fault to the customer and entirely a product defect! Now I am stuck here without a computer that wont work, and I cannot afford another one because I used all my money to buy the first one! What do I do now?

First,  a few months after purchase (covered by warranty). Then just after warranty ended. I take scrupulous care of the computer. 95% of the time it sits on a desk. 5% I carry it in a double padded case. No dust or other obstruction inside. My computer tech guy said very thin fan design is very fragile. I have owned many Lenovos in the past. Hard to imagine buying another.

A few weeks ago, my L380 yoga just underwent a motherboard replacement, and that took such a long time. Now, ANOTHER PROBLEM HAS SURFACED. THE TRACKPOINT ON THE LAPTOP IS BROKEN. The TrackPoint is my main input device for pointing, and without it, I struggle to use my computer effectively. I have tried checking drivers and reinstalling, but nothing worked. An external USB mouse works as well as the touchpad, but I RARELY USE THOSE AS THEY ARE INCONVENIENT.

A:LENOVO L380 YOGA broken SECOND PROBLEM IN 2 MONTHS!

The TrackPoint only moves up and down, and when I move it sideways, either way, it doesn't move or skips right to the side of the screen.
If anyone has a quick fix for this please please please let me know. I need this computer to do important work, I don't want to send my computer to them and wait for who knows how long.

I have been having issues with my computer since the day one. When I powered up the computer for the first time Polish (Machine was set to have Polish language for somewhat reason) BSOD with message MACHINE CHECK EXCEPTION greeted me. I restarted the computer and everything seemed to be fine. However, an hour later another BSOD with message saying CRITICAL PROCESS DIED was displayed. I updated the bios and re-installed Windows to make sure this is not a software related issue. That did not help. I am still getting BSOD's with MACHINE CHECK EXCEPTION, CRITICAL PROCESS DIED or UNEXPECTED STORE EXCEPTION. The progress counter stays at 0% and I waited for two hours for it to load. I have noticed that one occasion when errors occur are when I plug in my machine for charging. But, it can also throw an error with nothing specific going on. I ran Lenovo diagnostics tool(Check the attachment) everything seems to be fine. I contacted the seller (they claim to be Lenovo Platinum PC Parter) and they offered to send the laptop for diagnostics. They were not able to find the issue and as a consequence of that I had to pay for the shipping and diagnostics and the problem still remains. I contacted the seller one more time and they offered me to send the laptop for diagnostics again. I asked them to replace the unit, but they refuse to do it because computer "works fine". At the end of the day I have a computer that I cannot use and I have no idea how to solve this problem. I could even order it online if there is any way to get it.  Not sure if the screws are sold as well. If there is one, I can try to get it repaired here as well. Thanks a lot.

Howdy,I am using a Yoga 3 14 for school and the screen has broken. It is still funtional (I am in fact posting this from it). The only problem is the glass infront of the screen has broken, which i believe is only there for the touchscreen (I assume), so i was wandering if there was anyway to replace only the glass instead of the entire screen, as there are no marks on the display, and it functions 100% correctly. It is not a problem to the performance, although there is concern that leaving it could cause damage to the screen itself aswell.Thankyou,                  Nienoenf

I would suggest opening the machine and looking for a part number on your old board.  The parts list shows 17 choices for Yoga 2 pro.  The part number you list is described as 8GB, with a win8 std license and an i7 processor.  If you previously updated to windows 10, you may have activation problems, depending on whether the replacement board was also ever upgraded.

My touchscreen cracked- but I bought a $200 insurence policy from Staples, which is where I purchase my computer (and I will NEVER do that again and I don't recommend it). The policy covered accidental damages, such as a cracked screen, but after jumping through hoop after hoop to file a claim, Staples called me saying that they won't fix it becuase it's too expensive, even though I bought insurence. They offered a refund for my computer, but I refused because I adore my Yoga.      I'm really hoping someone can point me in the direction of a third party repairer, or even somewhere where I can buy a replacement touchscreen and have someone like Geek Squad install it. Any suggestions?

Get the refund for the computer and buy yourself another yoga. I would even request for the old machine back, make a OKR image. Then nuck reformat the hdd and give it back to staples for a full refund. Once done, restore the new yoga with the image you made.

Hi Everyone, I'm at my wits end and was hoping someone might be able to help me understand what exactly I need to do, purchase to bring my laptop back to life. Long story short, I have had this for just over 2 years, no more warranty and the hard drive I believe is going out/has gone out. It all started with a failed windows 10 upgrade, kept looping, finally I blew away I guess everything on it. Now when I am trying to re-instal windows 8.1 it tells me that it cannot because the hard disk may fail soon. I can get mostly through the windows setup but it always ends up failing. My question is, can someone help me identify what exactly needs to be replaced? I am fairly tech savy good at following directions and installing things by myself. (garbage disposals, haha). What I am not good at is trying to track down what hard drive to buy would be? I hate to bring it to best buy as its $200 just for a diagnosis and then whatever to fix it on top of that.  Can anyone offer insight and help me become enlightened? Thanks so much, L

Hello, i have some issues with the display of my Lenovo Thinkpad Yoga 260. It shows some yellow spots on the display, especially in the lower corners. I have already contacted the Lenovo Support Team concerning warranty. But Lenovo claims, that my Laptop is no longer covered by the warranty, because i have removed the lamination sheet of the display and replaced it by another one. So now i want to exchange the display on my own. Is it possible to order a display without any further services, so that i can do the exchange of my display by my self? I haven´t found any website (including Lenovo) that offers the display seperately without any installation service. So i just want to have the spare part. I got the following Model:Lenovo Thinkpad Yoga 260 with a Full HD DisplayType: 20FES00000 I would be grateful for any help.

Recently my very new SATA HD died for no known reason. It was the only hd in my new PC, Pentium 4 HT 3Ghz, MSI 865GM2 Mainboard Windows XP etc...it died in a wierd way...I turned of my PC (or so I thought!) and left the room...I come back 2 hours later and find that the PC is still on, navigated to my desktop...strange, but not terrible, right? Wrong...seeing as it was on, I thought what the hell, Ill open up some stuff and watch some anime...and no matter what I clicked, I kept getting a message "Windows cant find the neccessary program to open a .lnk file" Error. I shut down, hoping it would be fine on reboot...but I wasnt able to get past the BIOS screen when I turned it back on. I tried to run a recovery on XP system files, but the windows setup said it couldnt detect any hard drives installed?!

A friend of a friend had a look at it, and he was able to plug it in as an extra hard drive in one of his systems, and he found that he could see all my folders in the drive, but when he tried to open them, it said they were corrupted and unreadable. He also told me that my entire 200GB SATA hard drive was formatted in FAT32, which he said is not good for a large drive...he said it should be NTFS.

Does anyone have any idea as to what is wrong? It seems like a software/formatting problem to me, but it may be hardware...Is there anyone with any suggestions as to how to get my work files back? I would be extremely grateful...

From what I have read Yoga 13 Silver does not have the slot required for backlit, but aside that, will the keyboard function and will it fit (dimension-wise)? If so, what is the voltage and current required? Would soldering a small battery to the backlit cable be a good idea (I accept the fact that I wouldn't be able to regulate it)? Thank you in advance!ck

(2) Screen with ribbon cables/digitizer connections that attach to a digitizer pcb boardI am trying to replace my screen but the screen models are built differently.(1) Screen with display port only The original display looks exactly like picture (1). It only has one port for the diplay cable and a black plastic extension (circled in red) for the microphone pcb.  Many of the screens  advertised to replace it look like picture (2). These are not compatible with my laptop becuase mine does not have an extra digitizer board or the two ribbon cables that attach to it.     Two options that I am considering are screen (3) and (4). (3 ) is (2) but rewired to be compatible with my laptop. (4)  does not have the two ribbon cable but is missing a bezel extension (circled in red) where the microphone pcb board is usually attached. I would like to purchase (4)  but I am concerned about the missing bezel extension. (3 ) rewired with exra ribbon cable and digitizer(4) has display port but is missing bezel extensionAny reply is appreciated.

so when picking a motherboard what exactly should I be looking at?

First I would like to give my current set up:
intel core 2 duo E4400
Nvidia 8600GT
500watt PSU
2 SATA drives
1 DVD connected via IDE
4 GB ram
(details available upon request i didnt memorize the other details like RAM speed and such)

and as depressing as it may sound I am only looking for a motherboard that supports my current set up and nothing future proof / support upgrading to newer CPU/GPU. Mainly because I now realize how school stole my childhood time of playing computer games
Actually the only upgrades I might make on it is adding a few more DVD burner drives
so yeah what makes one particular motherboard better than the next?
thanks

Hi,

I have a workstation ot home with a tyan thunder K8WE, 2xopteron 280s and a 9800GTX+.

It will not turn on; I have replaced the plug fuse, reseated all connections and memory. After replacing the fuse the light on the front of the case lights up but nothing else happens.

Going to test with a nex PSU tomorrow but I suspect the board is dead.

2 questions really - anything else I can try to get it going? And second, what would be a good replacement board if ti comes to that? It must have 2xsockets for 940 cpus and be PCI. Hopefully not too expensive and be available to buy in the UK, or be able to be shipped.

thanks for any advice,

gubar

A:K8WE mboard died I think - replacement?

Do you live in a humid climate... some of the circuits rust out.
Also, look at the capacitors (shaped like little barrels, and can be as few as 4 or as many as 18 on a board... Look for puffy tops, bulging sides, and brown or rust colored powder leaking from them or on the board near them. Sure sign the board has died.

Also look at the secondary chip (almost as large as the cpu chip) it rests a few inches from the CPU... there are four arms or legs coming out of that housing down into motherboard holes extending out from the corners. If any of those four legs is loose or has pulled out, the board is dead.

You won't find a lot of choice for a replacement board, but the ones still around are good.

Hello all,

My Nvidia 8800 GTX 768mb card died this past week so now i need to replace it. My game of choice is EQ2 which I play at high seetings sometimes duel boxing toons on the same pc.

I run duel monitors one is 24" and the other is 21"

I have a 1000w power supply
Intel P4 duel core 2.66
Raptor 10k rpm 150gig hard drive
mother board is Asus P5N-E SLI
memory uh if i remember correctly is 833speed 3gigs
windows XP Home

I want a card that can easly handle duel monitors at high resoulotion plus high gaming settings EQ2 demands a lot so want something that will last for a while. this time around I do not plan on paying $550 like i did for the 8800GTX when it came out. So something between say a $100 - $300+

Thanks for your help

A:Graphics card died, needs replacement

I'd go for a 5850 or 5870 if your budget allows for it, or a GTX 260 which can be found for 170-200.
And FFS get rid of that P4 and get a Core2 otherwise you'll be cpu limited.
