I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello everyone!

I'm not sure if this is the correct forum,,but here is my concern. I bought a new dell laptop with 8.1 installed. I originally started this PC sign in process with my Hotmail account password. I do not want to sign in with my microsoft account every time, just to access my computer. I don't even know what my password is,,i use a password manager with 20 digits. I don't want to have to access another device to see what that password is every time i sign onto my laptop.

Ideally, if windows is trying to emulate the touch market as well as pc,,i would want the same login as my tablet and have a pattern password.

Any suggestions?? Thank you

I went into my User Accouts in the Control Panel. I deleted a User called Nathon. I created a new user account with Admin authority named Jack.
However, everytime that I start my computer from my morning bootup, the Signon Window has the deleted User, Nathon.
I have to type in Jack, for the new user, and I get into Jacks Account.

Why is Windows not remembering that I have deleted the USER, Nathon?

I have never had such a problem with any of my other windows computers.

So I just reinstalled Windows 10 on my machine.

Before I had it set up so that I could log in with a password or fingerprint.

Now it seems my only options are (1) password only OR (2) password, PIN or fingerprint.

I don't want PIN as a sign in option. But I have to enable PIN via "Windows Hello" before enabling Fingerprint sign in.

And once I have fingerprint sign in enabled, if I remove the PIN I lose both PIN and fingerprint sign in options.

Any ideas how I can set up password and fingerprint as my only two sign in options?

Is it possible to change the bypass key to something other than the Shift key in Windows NT?

A:Changing the bypass key in Windows NT

Not that I have seen. I think this is one of those things that is going to be either deeply buried in the registry, or that is hardwired into the OS.

You can tell Windows to not use the shift key at all by editing the registry.

Navigate to
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon

Add a string value (REG_SZ) of IgnoreShiftOverride

Set the value to 1.

I just installed windows XP pro on a machine here at work. It got to the point where it needed to reboot and was about to load windows for the first time but it showed a logon screen. first off, i've never had to deal with this before since every computer i've installed it on had only one user, and this is no different. Second, when prompted during the install to enter the user names, I only entered one, and was not prompted for any passwords or anything.
So now i'm sitting at the windows logon screen where it wants a pw for the one and only user and it will accept nothing. I've tried "admin", blank, and anything else I could think of, but all it does is give me an error. "the specified domain either does not exist or could not be contacted". Seeing how i've haven't even been given a chance to set up the network yet I don't know where it's getting this domain crap from.

So I guess what I need to know is, how do I bypass this logon screen so taht I can actually get into windows? How do I turn off this logon screen without being able to get into windows? Why is Bill Gates making me try to decipher a pw to MY OWN DAMN COMPUTER? any ideas? thanks

A:bypass windows logon?

Hi, could you boot into Safe Mode? If you can, you will be able to go into the default Adminstrator account. Go in there and delete that old account and create a new one for yourself.

To disable the windows login screen, take a look at this site for information on how to remove it.

So my question for you is, with only access to the guest account, is there any way I can get around the password on the main account and be able to modify the accounts so that the previous owner's files are not passed on to the next coustomer.

And I'm also hoping for a solution that will allow me to get it done without something like a complete whipe and reinstall of windows

In Windows 8, Microsoft has prohibited the user to log on straight to the Windows Desktop through a system licensing policy. Due to this policy, you always have to start with the Modern UI. If you?re a power-user, or you just want choice, you should be able to boot your system straight to the desktop. I?m not against the Modern UI, and I have no problem with the start screen, but I?m pretty sure I (and many others) don?t need it right from the beginning of a session. It is also annoying to use some of the current solutions out there as all they do is skip this screen on every sign-in, but this results in showing the start screen for a split second, which can be a very jarring experience for the user. After a lot of work and research I finally think I found a native way and maybe the cleanest solution to bypass Modern UI during sign-in. Therefore I wrote an application to skip this behavior. Modern UI is not disabled. It all works, only the sign-in behavior is affected.

"Modern UI"? Is that what they're calling it now? LOL. It's actually the "Atavistic UI", because its full-screen, modal program launcher is reminiscent of running Hotwire on my Atari ST circa 1988, except Hotwire didn't have anything as stupid as Windows 8's "4 Corners". And while I haven't read the article, bypassing the login to the "Modern UI" doesn't mean you never have to work with it. After installing programs, to pin programs to the taskbar, I would have to use the "Modern UI" or open the Start menu folders, which Microsoft has made hard to get to as a side-effect of getting rid of the Start Menu and its menu with "Open" and "Open All Users" commands for the "All Programs" menu item. My advice for people who recognize the ridiculousness of the "Modern UI" is to stick with Windows 7. Why spend money on a non-upgrade and then have to run various hacks to get it to a usable state? And then spend even more money to get Windows Media Center back, a part of Windows essential to anyone using CableCard, a part that hasn't even seen bug fixes much less improvements? Just because they're not thinking doesn't mean you have to stop.

I am using Windows XP, and it will NOT boot up. I am wanting to rescue some files from the drive, so I am thinking... maybe I could make a boot disk (would have to be CD) of some kind, that would boot Windows on the cd, and still allow me to access the HDD through the cd boot, so I can rescue my files?

I am fairly sure the HDD doesn't have anything wrong with it, it works, and when I go into Windows XP install to repair it, it can acess my drive, it just is being a pain in the bum and not allowing me access to the folders I want. I tried, whilst in Windows Repair to access the folders with the files I want to save in them, and it told me "access denied"

Any suggestions on how I can save these files?

I've tried putting the HDD in another computer, but because the other computer was a mini computer, I could only put the HDD in as master, so I had the same problems there as before...
I made a DOS boot CD, but while I was in the DOS, it allowed me access to everything... other than my hard drive...

I just really really need to save these files, and can't reinstall windows until they are saved, they're very important

You have recently removed one or more virusus from this computer, but now a new one has appeared.

First, AOL is extremely slow to start when I click on the icon. Once I've signed on, after a time a new sign-on screen appears on top of what I'm doing. I cancel that one. Soon I see activity at the bottom of the screen (where ordinarily you see "Done" or "//http:/..." etc. The virus is doing its own AOL activity! Soon afterward AOL is canceled, as if I had canceled it.

Also, Microsoft XP suddenly announces they are having to increase my virtual memory. Paging size is currently at 384 Mb, and my RAM is 1.25 GB. This is happening more and more frequently.

I have again changed my AOL sign-on password, and I no longer permit it to use the password automatically (I have to enter it at each sign on).

I use WinXP, I am in a network and between me and internet there is a Red Hat server with squid as proxy. I can go in internet through the proxy but also I can go directly by settings this option in IExplorer or Mozilla. The big question is: when I go directly bypassing the proxy, are the logs saved and can anybody see which sites do I visit? Is there any way in which the admin can see the requests if I go directly? If it's possible, how can I know this? I have access to the server, I can play around but I'm not root.
Thanks anyway.

A:Bypass squid from a Windows station

Even though you are not using the features of the squid proxy, anytime you are directed through a firewall or server, your actions can be logged. It all depends how much the admin of the server has decided to implement.

Most admins are not scouring over logs to see where you are surfing. We look for anomalies and areas of bandwidth saturation. I wouldn't worry too much about it, unless you are trying to hide something specific from the admin.

And use the proxy if possible, it helps the Internet in general and should speed your access anyways.

Unfortunately before it arrived, I accidently unplugged the computer as it was booting and now the system is stuck in the "Windows Resume Loader" screen. Neither the new keyboard, nor the old keyboard work to select an option to proceed past "Windows Resume Loader." I have tried a usb keyboard as well, without success.

Of course, i cannot boot in safe mode either since I cannot press f8 since the keyboard is broken.

After having done the update, I'm having two issues that are bugging me:

1. I cannot change the lock screen from the "cave by the shore" default nor bypass it (Brink is working on the bypass issue I believe)

2. If I go into netplwiz and uncheck the need for a password, the "Welcome" screen has the system default user picture, that drawing of a circle over an arch, not the picture I assigned to the account. With the need for a password, the picture on both the sign-in screen and "Welcome" screen is correct tho.

The lock screen issue I can live with since I normally don't use a password, but the default user picture is bugging me. I went into %ProgramData%\Microsoft\User Account Pictures and replaced all the default pictures with ones the same name and size of the picture that I have for the account, but it still shows the default.

I've searched around for another place where the default picture is, but cannot find any, even with the search including hidden system files.

Anybody know where the system default user pictures are stored, other than in the User Account Pictures?

What do I do? Please please I am in dire need of your help. Can I bypass this *** restriction by fiddling with the registry somehow or the device drivers?

I am using Qualcomm Atheros AR5BWB222 and TP Link WN7200ND devices.

Please tell me a way in order to alter the MAC in my windows 8 or some way to scan the network with my windows XP PC and find out some other white listed MAC addresses from the router by LINUX or whatever means possible... PLEASE...
P.S: My english is not very goodso please don't use difficult terminology (technicals excepted)

Can I use airodump -ng on windows somehow (I don't know linux much) to sniff the whitelisted macs?

A:How to bypass/remove Windows 8 MAC address restrictions?

Mac address restrictions on a home network is not worth it. Now if you are trying to get around this restriction on someone else's wifi network. Cannot really help you.

My boss purchased 4 Dell Inspiron 5559 laptops for us to use for our IT department.  They all came with Windows 10 Home, and of course, the embedded product keys on the hardware.  We need the professional version of Windows to join our domain, and we do not yet have Windows 10 VLK keys.  So we formatted the drives and installed our licensed Windows 7 Pro x64, and activated them.  When we try to upgrade to Windows 10 Pro, the upgrade is detecting the Windows 10 Home embedded key, and not allowing us the option to install Windows 10 Pro.
I have tried the following ways:
Through Windows update (GWX update on the taskbar)
Through GWX on the Microsoft website (manual trigger)
Through the Media Creation tool, opting to install on the same computer
Through the Media Creation tool, creating bootable Windows 10 USB, that I know works, as I used in several other laptops without embdedded product keys.
The media you use to install is capable of installing both Windows 10 Home and Pro, since its just a change of the features through licensing, and no longer separate files.
I need to get these up to WIndows 10 Pro, and we are trying to avoid buying licenses, as there is still three months free upgrade to WIndows 10 from licensed systems.
Does anyone know of a way to bypass the embedded key, remove it completely, or get Windows 10 Pro to be chosen on the upgrade install?

A:Bypass embedded product key for WIndows 10 upgrade

fnsledge,
Since your system was shipped with Windows 10 Home. You will need to purchase a Windows 10 Pro activation key from the Microsoft Store. Click the link below for details.

You cannot get it for free, legally

Researchers have once again managed to bypass Microsoft?s Enhanced Mitigation Experience Toolkit (EMET), this time by leveraging the Windows subsystem WoW64.

WoW64 (Windows 32-bit on Windows 64-bit) is a compatibility layer in Windows designed to allow unmodified 32-bit applications to run on 64-bit systems. While it?s very useful, researchers demonstrated in the past that WoW creates an attack surface that can be used by malicious actors to bypass antivirus software and exploit mitigations.

Researchers at two-factor authentication (2FA) solutions provider Duo Security have found a way to use WoW64 to bypass Microsoft EMET, a tool designed to make it more difficult and more expensive for attackers to exploit a system.

While EMET bypass methods have been presented several times in the past, Duo Security says its method can be used to bypass all payload execution and return-oriented programming (ROP) mitigations in one shot, in a generic, app-independent way.

According to Duo Security, 80 percent of browsers are 32-bit processes running under WoW64 on a 64-bit system. This is relevant in this case as web browser exploitation is one of the most common vectors used by malicious actors to breach systems.

In order to demonstrate their findings, researchers modified an existing exploit for a use-after-free vulnerability in Adobe Flash Player (CVE-2015-0311). They successfully reproduced the bypass on a 64-bit version of Windows 7 running Internet Explorer 10 and the latest ... Read more

I am not 100 % sure, but I think HitmanPro.Alert addresses the issues cited for 64-bit.

Someone should ask SurfRight developer, Mark or Erik Loman.
